SPEAKER_04There was a fire, a big one in a paper factory. What fire? Happened, I think it happened like early last week or so. The whole factory burned down. It was crazy. Some there was a person very dissatisfied with the wage he was getting. So he just torsed the building down.

It was about a cult and rich people and sacrificing people to evil gods to stay wealthy and become wealthy. Basically, the whole process of the first one, but the second one expanded more in it, talking more about like high societies and talking more about how rich people are willing to do anything to stay rich and become rich. It was pretty good. It was very gory. I would recommend it if you're like 18 or over. Because it was a lot of gore, a lot of body parts. But if you like storytelling and lore, it's a fun watch. I'm not saying it's the godfather, but it's it's definitely a good watch if you just want to chill for a couple hours. When I say.

That's when we started catching a bunch of movies in the theaters and we would go watch hella them. And then now we just really support the theaters, and that's why we go every like, not every week, but whenever there's something good, we go watch it. Plus, he's got his own taste of movies, and I got my own taste. So there's some movies he doesn't drag me to, and there are some movies I don't drag him to, and then those days are ones where we go by ourselves or with somebody else. But most of the time we catch movies together. But it's cool. I mean, we just go eat and then we go watch the movie. It's fun. It's a boys' night out. This food lives like an hour away from me, so that's like the only time I see him.

Movie Nights And Low-Key Fun
SPEAKER_01all right, anyway. All right, broski. Alright, let's get to this anime shit. Let's get to this anime bullshit this week, bro. Well, winter season's over. It was a good ass winter season, bro. I won't even like act as hell. I fuck with this winter season. Like last last summer season was ass. Like, there wasn't really that much shit. Winter, bro, y'all, y'all, y'all did that shit. Y'all did that shit. Winter season wrapped up. There's a lot of new animes that came out, a lot of old school animes that return on seasons. There's a lot of bullshit and a lot of hype shit. But what we come and talk about, who hit the top five type of shit? So, who was in the top five of your opinion in the winter season, and you can't wait until next year? The winter five of anime.
SPEAKER_04Man, it was genuine, like it was probably one of the most packed seasons we've had in a while. A bunch of heavy hitters back to back to back. Personally, my top five, I would definitely have to say something like Freren, JJK, Fire Force, Sentence to Be a Hero, Golden Kami is also ending as the last couple episodes are coming out, and then they're gonna make a movie, I believe, for the final ending, and then that's over. And that one's another great anime, too. But do absolutely pack this whole season. So, real quick, let me reset. So, I'll say Freren, JJK, Hell's Paradise, Fire Force, and Golden Comway, for sure. That that'll have to be like my top five up there. Golden Comway is a definitely a slept-on anime for the amount of quality it gives you, consistent quality, super slept on. If you haven't watched that one, make sure you go and tap in on that one because it is very worth it. But yeah, no, great season. Definitely this next season coming up so far is looking okay. I just want to let everyone know that they didn't give you the full season of JJK, they made you wait three years for the new season and made you pay for the movie when you wanted to watch the first two episodes when you wanted to get early access. I'm gonna just put that out there before all y'all be giving me this bullshit. Half of the shit that y'all gassing up and hyping up about, they're hoeing y'all. They're bending you over and hoeing the hell out of y'all. So, JJK, obviously, bro, you did a great winter season, but you gave me a part one. Well, you're gonna give me a part two, part four, part five, like fucking attack on tents on your season three, and then what are we gonna do? We're gonna get to the we're gonna get to your final season and you're gonna bring out a movie. Like I'm just saying, that's the future. Fire Force Praise And My Hero Rant
SPEAKER_01Fire Force. Fire Force is over. Great, great, great fucking ending. Maybe the best fucking ending I ever like the best ending out of this new generation. This new generation of anime, I think, besides Attack on Titan, had the best ending, the best wrap-up, and the best continuation onto a new series that I ever seen in this new era. All the rest of y'all are ass. All of y'all endings are trash.
SPEAKER_04To be fair, it's kind of like one of the very few endings we've actually gotten. Every other show that's still going, we're not even finished yet. You can see that Demon Slayer. We still have like three more years to wait for you know what I mean? For the last couple movies to come out. So that's honestly for OG, that's kind of one of the only ones that's had an ending.
SPEAKER_01I give it to you, but like My Hero Academia did not like that ending. Really? Now hear me out.
SPEAKER_04No, no, I mean you're a big fan, so that I take that. I take that very seriously.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, Mr. High is the biggest fan of My Hero Academia. Mr. High loves My Hero Academia, craves Hero Academia. But what let me tell you right now, what Mr. High don't like. Mr. High hates that fucking the main character had the asses weakest fight at the end. Let's put it that way right now. That's like if Naruto had the weakest fight. That's like if Luffy had the weakest fight of the end of their series, and your side characters, all of them, had a better ending fight than you fucking did the whole entire time you've been fighting. So think about that right now. You're the main fucking character, and your fight is garbage. Damn. And that's with a passion, too, nigga. I'm not even saying that like on some light shit. My hero academia, exuku Midoria, last fight scene against one for all. You're the only person that had seven quirks, and you're the only person that needed that much help. Just saying. How much help did Bakugo need?

Bakugo literally beat a clone of one for all, put him in a body bag, said you gone, and then you still couldn't beat the other guy, and Bakugo still had to come from the hospital to help your bitch ass out to end it all. SPEAKER_01You ain't about to say I don't. I'm just saying that ending in your fight was terrible. It was not a good ending. Yeah, we wrapped up good storytelling, yeah. We wrapped up good ending of villain storytelling. Yeah, that fist bump at the end was sick as fuck. But what was the point of us waiting this long? This man was holding a man for about 20 minutes for the final season.

SPEAKER_01That's all I'm gonna say about that. So, everyone doesn't have a good ending. So, Fire Force, good job. You wrapped up the ending really well, so I really fuck with you there. Golden, what was this? What was that? Golden Kami?

SPEAKER_01It was consistent. That's a good up-and-coming story. And then the one with the monkey. Did not watch it yet. Still gonna watch it. I heard it was entertaining and a comical relief. Darwin's incident? Yep. Darwin's incident. I heard it was a comical relief. And then my hero visual anti. Love it. Great show. Probably the top one out of this whole list. Just saying. Like I'm saying, I'm not a my hero hater. I love my fucking hero.

SPEAKER_01I'm so dis Kachi Bakugo had the greatest fight scene, the greatest quotes, the greatest interest, and the greatest come get the smoke type of level type of aura shit in anime final season history, and you're fucking gonna be the main character and don't do a goddamn thing. I'm sorry. That's stupid. Sorry, you had eight. You had eight fucking powers. You you only have one, and you couldn't, you were like, I need 21 niggas to help me. But when I was had seven, when everyone had one, you was like, I can do this all by myself. You are a fraud.
SPEAKER_04You think that's one of those incidents where the main character, the VA, the big villain was just too powerful, and they kind of chopped up the ending. Yep. That's what happened. Yep.
SPEAKER_01I think they thought I think they made the villain way too powerful. They didn't want to kill off none of the students, they didn't want to kill off any of the closest teachers in the story. They didn't want to, they didn't want to make it real. They wanted it to be a straight hero story where everyone in the classroom survives, all the main teachers survive, only the side-side, side-side side, size side characters that you only see one or twice in the fucking film, and you're like, oh, we know them, so they died, and they're they were important to us, and that's a memorable thing. Oh, a tragedy, bruh, bruh, bruh. One nobody in class 1A, nobody class in one B died. Neither one of the teachers in that teacher died. None of the main fucking like none of the main teachers that you really rock with died.

Lamillian didn't even die. Lamillion's a side-side character. He's not he's not even in the classroom, and he didn't even die. So you're like, even in Naruto, they killed off Neji. You're telling me a guy who has thousands and thousands of quirks, and his main quirk that he grew up with was a decay quirk that if he touches you with all five fingers, you decay, and that power became advanced where if he touches the earth, everything he thinks of gets decayed. And you don't make him kill nobody, not one person you love. Oh, oh, but our teacher lost a leg. Oh, our teacher lost an eye. Deku lost his arms. Nigga, he got the R's back. The man, the teacher was gonna retire anyway because he's 40. So, like, what did it matter? Like, this is some bullshit. You didn't even get a Jariah death. But I'm just telling you right now that that was a bullshit ending, and I want to thank Fire Force for actually giving us a good ending. It was such a good ending that me and you both looked at each other and said, We should go watch Soul Leader. So that's what I'm telling you, bro. That's when you got a good ending. Even though we're gonna hate on some of the like fight scenes, some of like the aspects of what happened, like you're gonna hate on like some of the little things that happened, but like to wrap it all up, to say that the story's over, you can fully confidently say that you would recommend Fire Force to somebody, have them watch the entire Fire Force and make them feel okay with it because they're gonna just stumble on to Soul Eater. So I'm telling you right now, they did perfect. If I can recommend them to something, then they did their job.
SPEAKER_04No, it was good. It really closed that gap, especially we needed something fresh, and that was something that now that Fire Force is over, you can really watch it in any direction. You can watch Soul Eater first and then hop into Fire Force, or you can watch Firefox first and then hop into Soul Eater. It's it's a safe, it's safe, especially because one came after the other. But that ending as a whole was pretty satisfactory. That's one thing I kind of noticed now with a lot of new mangas that the ending always feels like a little rushed or a little half-assed, and it's because the manga cut gets really worn out by the end, and it's like, all right, let me just close this story. And then sometimes you get to the anime ending and you're like, what was this? It doesn't, it doesn't
Why Endings Feel Rushed Now

And some people who are like me, we're hopping from one show to the other because they come out right around the same time. So you're literally able to watch whichever show you want first and then hop on to the next one right after. It's safe. It's a good, it's a it was it was a good competition for the sport of anime. Because from now on, I think we're just gonna have some that outshine the others. But this season as a whole, for what it gave us, season two of Hell's Paradise, first season, it was big. You cannot deny the fact that people were real hype about it. Second season was a big one. No, first season never put us.
SPEAKER_01I would give it that. Second, no, I gave it that.
SPEAKER_04Second season, second season was came in and was way better, and it brought in a lot of new fans. It brought in a lot of people like me who weren't super satisfied with the first season because we knew it could be better. It gave us that. Freren, JJK, Fire Force, Hell's Paradise, all of these are bigger names now, and we had them all together in one month or in a span of a couple months versus when we normally have them spread out throughout the year. So this is just a bunch of big names coming in at one point in time to just compete with each other and hype each other up. And you can just every week you would just say, What do I want to watch first? Now, what can I watch this week? I think that's great for anime, and I feel like that's great for fans.

But when you're really looking at the facts, there's only three to four that are real popular enough to break through that anime fucking barrier. That's Farron, Fire Force, Fate, and JJK. All the rest of y'all are just praying that another anime or anime fan or a rookie fan stumbles onto your anime and starts watching you. My hero is a visual anti. I have love for you, but you know you ain't that popular. You ain't that popular. So I just feel like there's a lot of smoke dodging. Because, like, you know, One Piece is out now. Because it was and it will be, and it will continue to be every single week. But that talk gets kind of boring after a while unless something massive happens. If there's a body, you think everybody's gonna talk about it? Of course. This is One Piece. Some of these characters go back for 20 years now in real lifetime, even though in the anime they've only been here for like what two weeks? Now we know about that, bro. One Piece is gonna be here for the next two weeks, and we're all gonna talk about it, we're all gonna be happy. And then after that, One Piece is gonna climb back to his throne and chill there and break every record it does. But people are really not gonna acknowledge it like that. We were gonna talk about the small one seasons that everybody's like, okay, this episode was cool, and then you're gonna come in and be like, One Piece. Tell me I'm wrong.

Great, you have the best fight scenes, great, you had the best fucking like CGI. I promise you, you did not have the best dialogue. Fuck no. There's no way anyone here is gonna give JJK part one, season three the best dialogue.

So animation can't really compete. But I think JJK is such a phenomenon that anytime it really comes out, you cannot take it out of a conversation unless it's a real bad season. Okay, fine. Season three, did not live up to it, but bro, season three was fucking crazy.

Because Machi only came in after episode four, which is fairly early in the show. And then the last episode was probably one of the craziest animation episodes from uh from a seasonal anime that we've ever seen.
SPEAKER_01It's not seasonal because it's a part one now. Yeah, but it's one season, it's 12, 13 episodes, right? No, wait, what did it get? 8, 13? What was it? It was a short season, right?

That's when anime was normal, and you actually just got regular seasons, and it came out with multiple stories. You got one story, you got a side mission, then you got another big story, season over. Season two comes out. You waited a long time for season two. You got 20. Wait, nope, wait, I want to make sure I'm on the right one. Nope, that's still season one. Season two, you got twenty three episodes. That's still fucking good. 23 episodes. Hey, you got him, you got him going there, boom dying, boom coming back to life, boom having the cross to meet the new Jujutsu soldiers, and then boom. Yeah, the Shikuyamian season.

Split Seasons And Part-One Fatigue
SPEAKER_01In season three, when you waited longer than season one, longer than season two, and you had to wait for a bullshit ass fucking movie that was just the first episode.

SPEAKER_0412 episodes, yeah. So for for for JJK itself, it's shorter. Season one, season two. Basically, you can split that into two because most animes have it's kind of rare-ish to find an anime that has a one season that's up to 24 episodes, especially now. Back in the day, it used to be kind of a little normal. Now it's much rarer to have a longer sized season one, but or season two.
SPEAKER_01But do you see what's happening right now? It's becoming the norm. It's not, it shouldn't be. No, no, it's not because trust me, I don't want to wait fucking 10 years for a season two. But the reason why you're waiting is because you're just giving them the money. Like, think of this. Think of this. This is what I really want every anime person to think about. And you don't even have to be an anime fan, but just think about this. One Punch Man was one of the hottest animes that came out when it first came out with season one. Everyone was hyped about it, and they didn't even have a lot of money on season one, but everyone was throwing the money out of it. Manga sales, video sales, merchandise, everything. They made them wait like two to three years until One Punch Man gets season two. They get season two. Everything is worse. Everything the CGI, the storytelling, all of it. It's all just worse. But they still got paid because people were watching it. So let me tell you right now, people were watching it, so that means the manga sales went up, the viewership went up, the merchandise went up in season two, even though they gave you worser anime and worser quality. Season three comes out like four years later, four to five years later. It is probably the worst season they have ever gave you, frame by frame, and it is not even watchable at this point, and they're still doubling down to give you all part two.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And they're gonna give us one of the hypest anime anime fights so with the same studio, so trash.

But what's gonna break your heart more? Is it gonna break your heart that one of your little mini animes that you love so much that can't get it right and they just die? Or the anime you love so much gets greedy and money hungry and gets taken over by corporations and it don't give a fuck anyway, and that shit gives you bad product. Which one's gonna hurt your soul more?

You want more, but you know they don't give a fuck about you, and they don't give a fuck about what you gotta say because the the studio is all about maximizing the profits. Now, at the end of the day, even if I decide I'm not gonna watch it, most of the people are probably gonna watch it, even if it's hate watching it, and that's still a duff for the studio, and they pretty much don't give a fuck. Now, the only anime I could deliberately say cancel it, never bring it back, is one punch man. Cancel that shit, never bring that back, restart that, and 10-15 years from now, give me better animation, give me better budget. If you need to take money out of that manga, do that, and that's the part that sucks.

When you know One Punch Man is about to come out with a part two that's about to be dummy trash, that you know it's about to not be good at all, that you know it's gonna hurt anime even more. It is not even worth of an anime to get a part one and part two. So you gotta make a stand and say, fuck that, nigga. You ain't watching it. I ain't even gonna watch you. You ain't gonna get a rating, you're gonna die in the gutter, you're gonna be in the ghost of the gold. Danny Phantom came to pick your ass up because you ain't giving me the product I want. They heard the fans say it, but the thing is, either they double down and they give you a shittier season, or they actually decide to give you a better quality season. So it's kind of hard to tell where you're going from there. At this point, you have some animes that most fans would just be like, yo, well, you know what? Fuck it. Bury the whole product, do not release any more shows of it. Just drop the manga because the manga is actually faithful. That's happening with a lot of animes nowadays. Sadly, it's not the norm, but a lot of these studios are saying fuck it, and they're making as much money as possible, and they're not willing to invest it back. And the fans, they're gonna show it, and they're gonna they're not gonna show it right away.

Betting On Yourself As A Creator

He's risking the house, he's risking his car, he's risking every dollar he fucking got in his bank account for the anime that he wrote, that he drew, that he published, that he drew. Everything is on the line. And he's about to publish it and it's about to come out in anime in Crunchyroll. We're about to be able to watch it. It is called Aaron the South Paul. Aaron the South Paul is an anime written by a I don't even know if he's a I don't even know. Like, I think this is the only anime he ever written. Like something like that.
SPEAKER_04Because he's risking it all. He's risking everything. Everything on this one. He's putting in his own money.

It's like directors that they they decide to fund their own movie, right? Because they know if I flop, I'm flopping on my terms, and I'm still holding on to my creation. Oda is someone of that atmosphere that we've never seen before, and all this stuff that they're doing now is new to everybody. And I'm happy he's doing it, and I'm happy someone of his eyes is making the first jump because this means that from now on onto the future, this might set a new standard where both the fan bases and the creator will put everything they have between their own creation and keep it grounded, keep their original idea and not let the studios Do you think it's gonna be worth it though?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean the creator knows what's best. No, but I get that, but he could have taken the money, he could have sold out, which everyone does, and I feel like that ain't a bad decision. So, like, I watched the trailer of this, I seen it, I've seen the trailer, I am gonna support it and see what's about give him a fighting chance. I saw it. It's a fighting chance. He's gonna get a fighting chance from me. I'm a hard anime critic, so just having me talk about it is gonna be a real scary thing because I am not gonna be sugar coating nothing. But when I'm thinking about it, shouldn't he take the money? It's not that it's it doesn't look like a revolutionary anime where you need to put it all in the line.
SPEAKER_04No, but I feel like if he actually manages to pop, it's gonna be more beneficial to him than if it would have just he would have just sold it. I watched the I watched the first episode. Not exactly my cup of tea, right? But I'm looking at it and I'm looking at what he gave me, and I'm like, okay, if this is funded by you and you have a lot of creative control, I like where you're going. And me myself, I respect people. I've been talking about this since we started this episode, right? I I mean since we started the podcast. I I like people that are willing to bet on themselves and fund their own creations from the movies that we see and stuff like that, from self-made directors and all this. So this to me is awesome. Now it's not exactly my cup of tea because it has to do a lot with art and kind of slice of life and such. But I'm gonna be there.

SPEAKER_04Bro, and that when that first season dropped, it was a movement. It was a movement like a lot of these new anime fans don't understand. When the first episode dropped, it changed the landscape of what you thought anime was. It was a crazy time in history. And that's what I'm saying. We we had it, but we didn't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, think how crazy that is, guys. The first season of Attack on Titans was when Star Wars, that new version, when like Han Solo came back.

SPEAKER_04And the the worst part about the second season was that we wanted it. They had the money, they had the sales, they had the viewership. Yep. The only reason it held back is because they didn't have the content, and that was the worst part about it. It was such a success. The manga sales alone, right off the bat, that they decided to make the anime right after, like you did not have enough content.
SPEAKER_01Industry was cutthroat, and these manga writers knew if they didn't come out with straight fa, it wasn't gonna make it. There was a different level of competition.

SPEAKER_01It was cut motherfucking throat. Make your good statement. You got one chance, one opportunity. You better make it good, and you better not even think about the future. And that's what these motherfuckers were doing back then. And nowadays, y'all don't even do that. Y'all just make one good fucking episode and think we gonna buy in.
SPEAKER_04They do, I feel like they really gotta cut back on a lot of this slop shit. Like, cut back on the slop. Terrible, focus a lot on like the actual good products that you have. But if you would stop making the slop, focus on the consistently good animes that people pay and they want and they watch and they beg for, if you can keep it that way, the quality of anime as a whole will rise back up, the competition would rise back up, and we could really be looking at a golden age because a lot of these new stories that are coming out, they're far in between that are good ones, but there's still some good ones out there. But a lot of this trashy wax shit gets made into an anime before the good ones get made.
Slop, Dubs, And Better Dialogue
SPEAKER_01What I'm starting to think is I think people like animes should start not getting dubbed automatically no more. I used to love it. Where all new animes got dubbed and sub, and you can you can pick which one you wanted to watch. I loved it. But then I started realizing it costs money to make dub and sub at the same time. And the dub is trash. I'm sorry. And the dub is always trash, it's so bad nowadays, especially if it ain't a big anime like JJK, that's the only time you get fluid. Full metal alchemist. Like if it ain't a big, big IP, the dub is usually trash.
SPEAKER_04I think the dialogue is the worst part about it. Because a lot of these animes have like such generic and basic as dialogue. If you can make the dialogue fun, okay, fine. The animation quality is not really there, right? Fine, that's expensive. That dialogue, I don't think it costs as much as the animation does. Focus in the dialogue, make the dialogue better, and I feel like we could really be talking. Maybe it's biased, but I remember some of the dialogues from the old animes we used to watch being way better than a lot of this new shit we get.

They're just taking anything that can make a fucking number, and we're just getting sloped. Sentence to be a hero deserves a chance to get one or a second season. But I only got room for five.

You could really focus on the quality and give me a story that I could actually sit down and enjoy. And we've really lost that. We've really managed to stretch out and and fumble and milk as much as it as we can. And I feel like as fans, yeah, we really don't have much of a say, but we can be louder than we are, and we can really tell them we're not happy with what you're giving us, and we want more. We want original ideas, we don't want sequels, prequels. We want original ideas.

Where The Money Goes In Japan

He still makes money to this day and he hasn't been fucking on the television for years.
SPEAKER_04It would really fall more on the structure of how Japan runs its industry of anime, right? Because it's not like in the US. In the US, one company says, Disney, Disney says, I'm gonna make a new show, I'm gonna put it all through my name and a lot of the other show companies I own. That's doable because they got deep money. With Japan, they really have to, they don't even use the money they make, they really have to go to other people and decide and ask them to give them money so they can make a new project. I'm like, bro, reuse the money you're getting. And guess what? You're gonna make more money. Use the manga sales, which we know they make a bunch on. Use the anime sales, which you guys also make a bunch on, and create a new season. But their structure is not like that. They really just like what they really do is they go out and they get investors to put in money. Some investors are just gonna give you money, but they're not gonna give you what you need. You need to use that money that you make and recycle it into the product to make better product.

And you know, for movies, they always show out, but the Japan infrastructure is not built to reinvest like that. And you do have some which get it and deserve it. JJK being a prime example, right? They have a powerhouse taking them on, but they they're just not really willing to invest. And that breaks my heart because, like you said, fans will invest for you. The fans will literally give you the money so that we can get a better product. But at the end of the day, these companies all say, fuck the customer. The customer's never right.

SPEAKER_01Uh the one thing I did want to tell you right now is speaking of Japan and Crunchyroll, I heard Japan and Crunchyroll, like they're like, it's banned. So what is that like what is that? Like, why is it banned in Japan?
SPEAKER_04Japan uses more of a structure of everything is in home in the sense of the way you watch your content, right? So they do have streaming and they do have Disney and all of that, but Crunchyroll is so big and it holds so much different animes in and together that for Japan, it's more efficient for them to have everything split up. So in the way we see some things here, right? Like if you want to watch basketball, for example, you have to own this app and this app and have this subscription. You gotta be everywhere now if you watch if you want to watch any sport. For them, it's kind of the same thing, but that structure is old.
