Ellie has been haunted by a nickname ever since she was five years old - when her older sister gave her the name of Splash. And it wasn't meant in a kind way. Ellie was a big kid, and her sister was referring to her size. It has followed her in school and at home, and while her mom tries ever diet under the sun to get Ellie to lose weight, the kids at school have no problem making jokes about her weight. When her best friend moves away just before 6th grade starts, it seems as if her life just can't get any worse. Who will be there to support her when she's down. What Ellie doesn't know is that change is on the way.
