What happens when someone needs more than encouraging words?
In Episode 140 of the Campfire Council Podcast, Luke, Joey, and Miranda discuss an unexpected encounter with a man named Mike who was struggling to pay his rent. What began as an uncomfortable interruption became a powerful lesson about generosity, obedience, and being the hands and feet of Jesus.
The conversation challenges us to examine whether our faith changes how we respond to the people directly in front of us. Are we willing to pause our plans, listen to someone’s story, give when it costs us, and meet a practical need? Or have we become comfortable consuming Christian content without putting our faith into action?
The group explores the widow’s offering, the Good Samaritan, caring for “the least of these,” the relationship between faith and works, and the importance of remaining open-handed with our time, money, comfort, and plans. They also discuss Christian community, trusting God’s provision, responding to suffering, and the weight behind praying, “Here I am, Lord—send me.”
This episode is an invitation to slow down, notice the people God places in your path, and ask a difficult question: What are you holding onto that God may be asking you to surrender?
