Ever find yourself thinking, "I know better than this... so why am I spiraling?"

One of the trickiest things about overwhelm isn't just having too much to do. It's what happens to our perspective when our emotions get loud.

In this episode, I'm sharing a very real moment when my woefully low summer podcast numbers sent me down a whole spiral of failure, not being enough, and all the things I clearly needed to fix. The funny thing? I already knew summer numbers tend to dip. I already knew growth takes time. I knew all the things.

My emotions just weren't particularly interested in what I knew.

And that got me thinking about how often we do the same thing with God. We know He's faithful. We've learned the lesson. We've seen Him come through before. But then... life. All the busy, the unexpected, the overwhelm—it piles up, and suddenly the truth we know can feel really hard to access.

So we're talking about what Joshua's memorial stones can teach us about why God knew His people would need reminders, why the Israelites' golden calf may hit a little closer to home than we'd like to admit, and the difference between desperately searching for another answer and turning to God to remind us of what we already know.

Because sometimes the truth isn't lost.

It's just buried.

In this episode:

  • Why overwhelm can change our perspective even when our circumstances haven't changed
  • What happens when our emotions start outweighing what we know
  • Why God told Joshua to build memorial stones
  • What the golden calf teaches us about what we reach for when we feel uncertain
  • The difference between desperately searching for a fix and trusting God to guide us
  • How journaling helps me notice when I'm getting swept up in a reactive pattern
  • The simple "God Check" you can use when your "know brain" seems to have gone into witness protection 😂
