The information  technology use this to find vulnerability of their software or system. The military use it to test opponents technology to find weak points and use it to their advantage.

Reverse engineering is the act of analysing an existing product, system, process, or structure using the knowledge gained from that analysis to recreate a duplicate or better systems/products.  

Three steps to reverse engineering include Information extraction, Modeling  and execution & review. Example you want to own a property. Now you have to  ask the question, Location, Budget, When you plant to make the purchase, how much do you currently have, how are you going to raise the rest of the money, are you going for mortgage or paying cash. Once you have clarity,  create a working plan and follow through with it every day, week, month, years until the goal is realised. Keep reviewing your progress as regular as possible.
