My Therapist Retired
Welcome to My Therapist Retired! I went to therapy on and off for around twenty years. I found a great therapist and for a very, very long time we worked together. She was honest, objective, and she was not afraid to tell me I was full of it! It was just what I needed! After I got REAL, the real work began. I learned, I grew, I evolved and then, she retired! I mean twenty or so years later but still…. she retired!
This podcast serves two purposes; first, it’s a thank you to my former therapist for all the incredible ways in which she made me a better person; and secondly, it’s a way for me to continue to learn, to grow, and to evolve all the while sharing the information with anyone who needs to hear it.
There are times we all go through situations where we feel like no one can relate or we feel alone. I’m looking forward to sharing my perspective as a client, as well as some of my experiences and tools I learned during the therapy process.
Join me while I speak to experts in their respective fields about various issues that affect our mental health. We will discuss a broad range of topics including anxiety, relationships, my favorite – menopause and so much more.
I am hopeful this podcast can be informative, lighthearted, and to let you know you are not alone! This is “My Therapist Retired.”

Navigating Relationships
Ashley Franklin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), is back and we are talking about relationships! Ashley and I are navigating through different relationship experiences these days; me having gotten married a few years ago at 50 years old and Ashley adventures in relationships as a divorced, single mom. We dive into the area of relationships versus friendships and why we treat those differently at times. We also discuss the role expectations play in our relationships, patterns we learn growing up, and the all uncomfortable "being vulnerable." Push play and enjoy!
