David Bornancin Art Coach
David Bornancin is a local Cleveland artist known for expressive landscapes and abstract paintings that evolve alongside the viewer. Self-taught and endlessly curious, David began creating art more than 18 years ago, first through drawing and illustration, then gradually finding his voice on canvas.
In the last five years, he has participated in over 60 shows with over 160 paintings sold and in beautiful homes and collections across the Ohio region.
Beyond painting, David is passionate about helping other artists succeed. With over 30 years of experience in sales and relationship-building, he coaches local creatives on how to navigate the business side of art—bridging the gap between making meaningful work and confidently selling it.

What made you say that as an Artist
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
As artists, we hear things that stick with us—comments, critiques, even casual remarks that hit deeper than expected. But what really makes us respond the way we do? What makes us say that as an artist?
In this video, I break down those moments—the emotions, the mindset, and the experiences behind our reactions. Whether it’s defending your work, explaining your vision, or standing your ground creatively, there’s always more beneath the surface.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, questioned, or pushed to explain your art… this one’s for you.

Part Three Why Art
SPEAKER_00An interesting thing about uh the art buyers, the art lovers, the art enthusiasts, the art collectors. There's an interesting thing. And and the the body of words we're going to use here, what makes you say that? What is it that you see? What makes you say that, and what is it that you see? And that body of words, why do you say that? And what is it that you see? And the art buyers come and see you, and they see your body of work. And let's say you have modern art or contemporary art or portraits or other designs, maybe landscapes, maybe uh uh trees, maybe bushes, maybe floral designs, maybe uh some abstraction, maybe there's some abstract art, maybe there's all kinds of designs. And so when people come and see your body of work, they the comprehension of what is it, why do you say that, and what is it that you see is the key, is a key set of words. Those are key words and key concepts, meaning meaning they're coming, they saw something in your body of work. Maybe you had several paintings out, and they saw something and it clicked. It was the coloring, the color, the set of colors that you used, it was the depth, it was the lighting within the painting, it was the brightness, it was exposure, it was the design, it was the the texture and the textured lines and cuts, it was all the knife work that was done. And and and you have to think about those words because as an artist, you're saying, Well, what what is it? What is it? Why did you say that? And what is it that you see in my painting? How are you interpreting my painting? Because I'm fascinated by your response. You know, I see how you captured the light in the background in that unbelievably global like body of water and trees, and the light shining down on that forest-like look with the body of water and the tempered color stream. Uh, it's it's so captivating and it's so amazing, and it's so unreal the way you captured that. Or I see that you used a rainbow set of colors to brighten up the whole sky. You didn't just paint in some blues uh uh uh mix of blues, some sky blues or pure blues or or other types of blues to bring in the sky, but you orchestrated a combination of multiple colors to bring in that beautiful skyline with that sun glowing down on you. And the keywords that people are using as an artist, you have to wonder what is it that they see and why did they say that? Because as an artist, you create this masterful piece, and then you say to yourself, okay, I think it's done, I think it's perfect, I think it's ready, I think it's ready for the for the show, I think it's ready to for people to take a look at. And you wonder, what is it that they're seeing that maybe I didn't even see, or maybe you didn't even see? And so it's something to think about as you're creating all your different kinds of designs and creations and and going through the process and taking a look and standing back and taking a look at it and saying, Wow, have I brought something to life here? Have I brought a surge of energy to this piece? And people are seeing something in it, and they're seeing something different than I even imagined. And that's a wonderful thing.
