When What Used to Work Stops Working
Sometimes we face problems
we cannot solve.
And what has always worked before
stops working.
“The bows of the mighty are broken…”
— from 1 Samuel 2:4
When our bows are broken,
our confidence is shaken.
And we are no longer sure
what to do next.
1 Samuel suggests
that new strength
often begins in humility:
“the feeble gird on strength.”
We do not have to pretend
to be strong.
We do not have to pretend
we are unafraid.
We do not have to pretend
we have it all figured out.
Just the opposite.
When we acknowledge our limits,
and our need for help,
we begin to discover
a strength
far greater than our own.
I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
