Liza is the principal of Claremont Immersion Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia.

Dr. Liza Burrell-Aldana was born in Colombia and graduated from Universidad del Valle in Cali with a bachelor's degree in foreign languages. She received a prestigious scholarship from the School for International Training in Vermont, where she earned a master's degree in teaching. Liza later received a master's degree in leadership from George Mason University. In addition, she has a professional certificate in program assessment and evaluation from Georgetown University and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech. Liza was honored with the School Bell Award by the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals in 2023.
