This is a world gone mad. This is a world gone mad. Mad, mad, mad, mad. It's another day in a world gone mad. I'm Jeff Allen Wolf.
Speaker 1:I'm back again to give my commentary on the news. Thank you for joining me for this important special episode. So please pay attention. I am pissed, I'm angry and I'm assuming some of you are too and I'm going to give you a deep dive in this episode. So pull out a large glass of your favorite drink I don't care if it's iced tea, scotch on the rocks or water and get a big snack, because this is going to be detailed.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about the so-called big, beautiful bill, trump's signature legislation. This is the centerpiece of his domestic agenda in 2025, and whether you love the guy, hate the guy or can't stand politics in general, this bill is going to affect your life in one way or another Period. Now, at this time, while I'm recording this episode, the bill is in the Senate right now with a voterama. They haven't voted yet. They may not vote tonight. Probably, when you get this episode tomorrow morning or late morning, they would have already voted on it, so the vote may have happened after I record this episode and whether the vote passes or doesn't pass. This episode is going to tell you everything about this bill that you need to know. Now, if you think I'm going to trash the Republicans, I will. At every point I find them to be wrong. But let me be clear about something, listeners If I find Democrats are wrong, I will shove my foot up their ass. So far, they'll walk funny for the rest of their life.
Speaker 1:So the bill? According to the Trump administration and House Republicans, this bill is supposed to lock in the tax cuts from 2017 and expand them for working families, give more take-home pay to hourly workers, lower taxes on tips, overtime and middle-class families, rein in bloated social programs like Medicaid and SNAP. Slash energy regulations. That's their pitch. That's the message the MAGA machine is pushing that this bill will make America strong, secure and self-reliant again. But let's be real. That's not the whole story. According to Democrats, economists, healthcare groups and nonpartisan budget experts, this bill permanently cuts taxes for the rich while temporarily tossing crumbs to the working class. Dismantles Medicaid for millions by adding work requirements and red tape. Cuts food benefits for the poor and offloads costs onto states. Rolls back clean energy incentives and kills over 100,000 renewable energy jobs. Adds between $2 and $3.3 trillion to the national debt, even as Republicans claim to care about deficits, gives massive perks to corporations and wealthy estates, or making life harder for everyday Americans.
Speaker 1:So who's telling the truth? That's what we're going to figure out right now. No spin, no hype, no party loyalty. I don't work for MSNBC or Fox. I work for you, the listener, who just wants to know what the hell is in this bill and how it affects your wallet, your health care, your job and your future. I'm going to break down the big, beautiful bill Trump's signature legislation of 2025 point by point. No talking points, no bullshit, just the raw reality of it. What's in it, who benefits, who gets hurt, what's fact and what's fiction, and what it means for everyday people like you. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 1:Here's each section of the bill, starting with tax cuts for working families. What the Republicans say. Trump and GOP leaders claim the bill locks in 2017 tax cuts and expands them to give more take-home pay to middle-class workers and families. They emphasize lower taxes on tips, overtime and hourly wages. The reality Most of the permanent cuts go to corporations and high-income earners. Middle-class tax relief is temporary and will expire in a few years unless renewed IRS data shows the top 1% receive a far larger dollar benefit than someone making $60,000 a year. Tips and overtime deductions help service workers slightly, but the net gain is offset by rising cost of health care and public services due to other cuts in the bill Tax cuts for working families.
Speaker 1:Who it helps? High earners, corporations and, to a small degree, tipped hours-based workers. Who it hurts Middle-income families long-term, unless temporary cuts are renewed, which is politically uncertain, all right, going to the part that says cuts to social programs, medicaid and SNAP. What the Republicans are saying? The bill reigns in bloated entitlement programs like Medicaid and food stamps, snap, by adding work requirements and pushing people toward independence. The reality the work requirements are designed in ways that disproportionately affect people who already work but can't prove it, due to gig work, caregiving or lack of access to documentation. Nonpartisan groups estimate over 10 million people could lose Medicaid coverage, especially in rural and low-income areas. Snapped cuts mean fewer grocery benefits for children, elderly and disabled individuals, many of whom already live on the edge. Now the cuts to social programs. Who it helps? Wealthy donors who want a smaller federal budget and conservative think tanks pushing for responsibility. Who it hurts? Working poor, elderly, disabled and families who rely on basic support to survive Energy deregulation and fossil fuel expansion.
Speaker 1:What the Republicans say? The bill slashes job-killing regulations on oil, gas, coal to unleash American energy and lower costs at the pump. The reality, however deregulation allows drilling in more public lands, weakens environmental protections. Clean energy subsidies from the Inflation Reduction Act are rolled back, which analysts say will eliminate over 100,000 clean energy jobs. Oil companies benefit massively, but gas prices are still driven by global markets, not US legislation alone. Gas prices are still driven by global markets, not US legislation alone. So there's energy deregulation and fossil fuel expansion in the bill. Who it helps? Big oil, natural gas lobbyists and fossil fuel investors. Who it hurts Renewable energy workers, climate advocates and communities facing worsening pollution and health impacts. And communities facing worsening pollution and health impacts.
Speaker 1:The section that says defense and border security spending in the bill. What the Republicans say is injecting billions into border security and national defense will keep America safe and regain control of our sovereignty. The reality funding goes heavily toward border wall expansion, more ICE agents and military contracts, no serious investment in immigration reform, legal pathway streamlining or humanitarian systems. Defense contractors in border state private prisons stand to make billions. The defense and border security spending part who it helps? Defense industry, border contractors, hardline immigration proponents. Who it hurts Immigrant families, asylum seekers and US taxpayers, who see no measurable security improvement.
Speaker 1:And the national debt and deficit part of this bill. What the Republicans say? Gop leaders say the bill will pay for itself through growth and spending discipline. The reality, listeners. The Congressional Budget Office, cbo, estimates the bill adds $2 to $3.3 trillion to the national debt over 10 years. There are no meaningful offsets. Instead, it relies on dynamic scoring, hope-based growth projections. Now the same lawmakers decrying the deficit are passing massive tax breaks without funding them.
Speaker 1:So this national debt and deficit part of the bill. Who it helps? Political donors, corporations and short-term political talking points. Who it hurts Future taxpayers, public infrastructure and national financial stability. So what's the bottom line? Who is telling the truth? I have an answer for you listeners. Both sides are spinning, but when you strip away the slogans, the wealthy and powerful benefit most in real dollars regulatory relief and permanent changes. The middle class and working poor get some temporary gains but lose protections, benefits and long-term stability. The environment, health care system and budget all take hits that will be felt down the line.
Speaker 1:This isn't a beautiful bill for most Americans. It's a reshuffling of power and money, dressed in populist language but fundamentally structured to reward the top and shift the burden downward. So that's it, jeff, just five sections in the bill we have to be aware of Hell. No, there's way more than five parts in this monstrosity of a bill. This bill is loaded with stealth changes, ideological rewrites and corporate favors that don't make the front page but absolutely affect your life. Mainstream media is only cherry picking things that suits them to convey to you, the watcher of their news shows. Let's break out part two of my deep dive and keep going. Let me talk to you about the hidden landmines in Trump's big, beautiful bill Estate tax loopholes and billionaire windfalls.
Speaker 1:This is in the bill. What the Republicans say. The bill protects family farms and small businesses by raising the estate tax exemption. The reality the estate tax currently applies only to multi-millionaires. The estate tax currently applies only to multi-millionaires. This bill doubles the exemption, meaning fewer than 0.1% of estates would ever pay a dime. At the same time, it opens up new trust loopholes that let billionaires shelter wealth from taxes indefinitely. The estate tax loopholes and billionaire windfalls section of his bill. Who it helps? Billionaire families and dynasties like the Trumps and Kochs. Who it hurts Public services that rely on tax revenue and everyone else left paying the bill.
Speaker 1:Another landmine in this bill education cuts and vouchers. What the Republicans say. The bill gives parents freedom of choice in education by promoting private school vouchers and reducing wasteful federal education spending. However, the reality funding is clashed for public schools, especially in low-income areas. Especially in low-income areas, vouchers shift taxpayer dollars to private and religious schools, many of which can legally discriminate or avoid teaching science-based curriculum. There's no new funding for teacher pay, school meals or mental health services. It's in the bill the education cuts and vouchers. Who it helps? Private school networks, conservative education groups and wealthy families. Who it hurts Public school students, teachers and working class communities.
Speaker 1:Another section, another landmine in this bill rollbacks on labor protections. What the Republicans say about this? The bill removes red tape to help small businesses hire and grow. The reality weakens overtime pay rules, making it harder for salaried workers to qualify for extra pay. Undermines union protections, allowing employers to delay or block organizing efforts. Narrows definitions of employee, making gig workers even more vulnerable to exploitation. So there's rollbacks on labor protections. Who it helps? Large corporations, uber-style gig platforms and anti-union lobbyists. Who it hurts Workers trying to earn fair wages, joint unions or secure, stable employment.
Speaker 1:Healthcare deregulation in private. Another landmine the plans. What the Republicans say about this part of the bill? The bill empowers choice by promoting health savings accounts, hsas and scaled-back insurance plans. The reality it expands junk insurance plans that cost less upfront to you but offer little or no coverage when you actually need. It, pushes people toward high deductible plans and HSAs, which mainly benefit higher earners. It also undermines key Affordable Care Act protections, especially for people with pre-existing conditions.
Speaker 1:So this health care deregulation and private plan a big landmine. Who it helps? Insurance companies, private equity health plans, wealthy individuals. Who it hurts? Lower income families, people with chronic illnesses and anyone hit by surprise medical bills.
Speaker 1:And another landmine targeted attacks on blue states. Well, what the Republicans say. Well, the bill ensures fairness in tax policy across all states. The reality caps state and local tax deductions, called SALT, hitting residents in high tax states like California, new York, illinois, massachusetts. Wonder where those are? What type of voters are there? Limits, reductions on mortgage interest and local property taxes, hurting middle and upper middle class homeowners in Democratic-leaning states. It's a partisan punch, plain and simple Targeted attacks on blue states. Landmine. Who it helps? Federal coffers temporarily. Who it hurts Homeowners and taxpayers in blue states, many of whom already pay more to the federal system than they get back. There's more. We haven't even touched the environmental rollbacks in this big beautiful bill, the surveillance expansions, the corporate stock buyback incentives or the attack on civil rights enforcement buried in footnotes. Why I'm pissed and angry why everyone should be also is because of this and much more.
Speaker 1:Here's what recent polls say about public opinion on Trump's one big beautiful bill. Public sentiment overwhelming opposition. Fox News reported 59% of Americans oppose the bill versus 41% who support it. Cnn's summary of multiple polls the net approval ranges from 19 to 29 points. That's it Across Washington Post, pew Fox, quinnipiac and Kaiser Foundation surveys. Kaiser Foundation surveys In other words, between 60 to 65 percent disapprove of this one big beautiful bill, versus 35 to 40 percent approval. The Pew Research Center, june 17, said 49 percent oppose, 29 percent support, 21 percent are unsure I don't know what the hell they're smoking. Kaiser Family Foundation 64 percent view it unfavorably, 35% favorably. And the opposition crosses party lines 85% of Democrats, 71% of independents.
Speaker 1:Two-thirds of non-MAGA Republicans oppose this bill. Support is concentrated among MAGA Republicans at 72%. Is concentrated among MAGA Republicans at 72%. So what do Americans dislike most about this bill. Well, the perceived loss of Medicaid coverage, with 11 to 16 million people projected to lose access. Large projected increase in federal debt up to $3.3 trillion over a decade. Cuts to SNAP and other safety nets, with AP, norc and Politico noting widespread public concern over funding reductions. So the bottom line Wolfpack listeners America isn't just skeptical, it's broadly opposed to this legislation. Support is narrow and intensely partisan, while opposition spans the center-left, with significant concern coming from moderates and non-MAGA Republicans. The bill's most controversial elements Medicaid snap cuts, the national debt growing enormously are what fuel this backlash.
Speaker 1:Let's cut the crap, okay. This bill isn't some patriotic lifeline for working families. It's a brutal, bloated corporate love letter masquerading as middle-class relief. While MAGA Republicans shout about freedom and tax cuts, what's really inside is a ticking time bomb for everyday Americans Gutted Medicaid, slashed food benefits, rollbacks on clean energy, billionaire estate tax loopholes and trillions added to the national debt. And the public sees it. Poll after poll shows overwhelming opposition, not just from Democrats, but from independents and moderate Republicans too. This isn't leadership. It's a shameless redistribution of wealth from the bottom up, coated in red, white and bullshit.
Speaker 1:I'll let the other famous podcasters that you know of and you most likely listen to to make up crap and be sensationalistic with their podcasts. I prefer to keep it real. It's time for your opinion. Wolfpack listeners. Very little has moved you to respond back to me on all my episodes. For over a year and a half now, only a handful of you have emailed me or texted me or phoned me. If this doesn't generate any feedback from you, I don't know what will.
