Assalaamualaikum & Greetings!
Welcome to Cool Mum Super Dad, your companion on this rollercoaster ride called parenthood. I'm your host, Jamilah Samian, a parenting author and speaker.
Your marriage shapes your parenting experience. Children in happy, stable marriages feel more secure, perform better in school and have less disciplinary issues. This is reason enough for us parents to pay attention to the state and quality of our marriage. Misunderstandings happen in the best of marriages. In this episode, I explain:
- why conflict occurs
- a 3-step strategy to think well of your spouse
- how to confront limiting beliefs
- emotional closure
- how to get out of an argument
- proactive step to sustain a marriage
You will gain valuable ideas on how you can get better at resolving conflict, especially by changing how you respond to disagreements. Getting into an argument is easy. Getting out of one takes humility. Think of what you can possibly say and do to create deeper understanding and respect between you and your spouse. Choose to be kind by not giving in to impulsiveness and the desire to win an argument just for the sake of winning. In an argument that has gone out of hand, nobody wins, even if it seems at the time that one side has the upper hand.
Whatever good is in this work is from Allah; any shortcomings are mine alone.
