Iceland, Gemstones, and Inheritance: Dorrit Moussaieff
Dorrit Moussaieff is an Israeli-born British businesswoman, designer, and the former First Lady of Iceland. She is a member of a storied dynasty of jewellers, whose ancestors are said to have woven the robe of Genghis Khan. Beyond her work in jewellery, Dorrit has been active in international real estate. As First Lady from 2003 to 2016, alongside President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, she helped promote Icelandic culture abroad, championing the country’s artists and identifying new markets for its creative industries. Dorrit is also a contributing editor to Tatler magazine, and she has been involved in philanthropic work in the United Kingdom and Iceland.
