What looks like growth can actually be a trap.

In this episode of The 60 Second Podcast, Matt McCoy sits down with Shannon Byrne Susko, a 2X exited CEO and founder of Metronomics, to break down one of the most common mistakes leaders make when scaling.

Most CEOs think the answer is more effort. More hours. More hustle.

But Shannon shares why real growth doesn’t come from doing more — it comes from designing your organization with clear accountability.

This is a short, practical conversation on how to stop confusing busyness with progress and start building a company that can actually scale.

[00:00] Matt McCoy:
You've exited two companies and now coach CEOs. What's the biggest mistake leaders make when they think they're scaling but are actually just getting busier?

[00:09] Shannon Susko:
Yeah, the biggest mistake I made and I see many other CEOs make is they just think they need to put more hours in. And what we really need to do is ensure there is clear accountability in the organization.

So in my first organization, we didn't design for growth. We didn't design for an exit. And once we realized that and made the design and understood the functions that existed, and the accountability…

As a CEO, I was able to give up the ownership. You gotta let it go to grow.
