[0:00] Music.
[0:12] Welcome to Stargate SG-1 for the first time still. Not a Star Trek podcast. My name is Jeff Akin and I'm watching Stargate SG-1 for the first time. And I'm Brent Allen and I'm also watching Stargate SG-1 for the, well, for the 47th time. But for the first time, I am looking for what Stargate is trying to teach us. You know, those good sci-fi messages, those ones that hold up a mirror to society, give us hope things can be better in the future, or sometimes just teach us how we can be playing better human beings to one another. Brent, this week we're watching an episode called One False Step. You had it wrong in some things, so I'm just going to... I did. One False Step. Yes. Not one small. This is one false. Yes. False. And my guess last week, I predicted that this would result in a high-tension situation. Situation it could blow up at any moment one false step is going to make everything fall apart and uh sg1 team is somehow going to come up with or need to come up with a diplomatic.
[1:11] Solution to everything that is about as high over the ground vague as you possibly could be i've learned from the best like how you do it that's that's how you get it you just don't give too many details exactly why don't you tell us about this one well this is the 19th episode of season two you know they've been toying with our with the watch order here a little bit lately this one seems to be pretty unanimously episode 19 of the second season original air date january 20th 1999 jeff that is all i have to tell you it is time to go watch this episode if you are joining us for the very first time first of all welcome welcome to the channel uh the way this works jeff and i are getting ready to watch this episode for the first time right now we're going to do it together right now if you are one of the folks who are watching us via video if you're on youtube you're going to catch the reaction version of this where it's all choppy maybe about 15 20 minutes or so and then at the end we're going to have our conversation if you want to see the full unedited version of that video head over to our patreon page link down below and get that full unedited video if you're one of our incredible audio listeners that just recently left us a five star review or a star review or a whatever on whatever podcast app you're listening on.
[2:29] You're about to gate into the future. You're going to catch us on the other side where we're going to have that conversation. I'm going to share my first time reaction. Brent's going to share any of those sci-fi messages that he found in the whole thing. And you'll be with us for the whole thing. Brent, let's dive into this bad boy. One false step. Chevrolet 7 locked.
[2:48] Chevrolet 7 locked.
[3:02] That's a late 90s drone. UAV will arrive at PJ2445. It's a UAV, Jeff. Okay. Two, one. What are they? Perhaps.
[3:13] Forms. Motion detectors don't indicate any movement, sir. Losing signal. What? That shouldn't be happening. Switching to manual control. Come on, Captain. Pull it up. The controller that they had. Yeah. Uh-oh.
[3:31] We've lost signal. Trying to reestablish. It's like a mushroom. This doesn't make any sense. I need the flight recorder, sir, to determine why the controls failed. Colonel, you need to go get it. The distance from the gate is 10 miles. Six hours there and back uh-oh uh-oh that's bigfoot okay there's my thing estimated 10 miles that's a big ass ring where's your dune buggy yeah right drive the dune buggy through the dang thing go 10 miles you'll be there in three minutes or a motorcycle even like if it's if it's a space issue yeah get a moped yeah like you've got enough room on that ramp you can you You can run that up. They launched that UAV through there. Yeah. Come on. I'm saying it's what I'm saying. You know, you don't have to go six hours on foot through the gate. Like literally a tank. Just get a tank, whatever you want to do. You're spending a bajillion dollars on this program a year. Surely you can find a tank somewhere in the budget. A tank. Just one. That's it. That'll be great for diplomatic purposes. Won't it? Why are you arriving in a tank? We're peaceful explorers. This is a scope. Not a gun. Don't mind it.
[4:44] That music is really concerning to me. Yeah. Like, oh, it's just going to be funny. That would confirm the presence of life forms on PJ2445. I guess that changes the priority of this mission, are you saying? Yeah. So one of the first questions I'm going to have when we come out. So we've got the, what's the alloy they started using? The trinium? Trinium, yeah. So they're starting to use trinium. And they got that in the iris now. Now we have the UAV, Captain Carter brings up the new tech they have. And so we're starting to see the payoff of a lot of the work they're developing and using new tech now. Interesting observation I had never thought of before. So you said, uh-oh, when you heard the music. You heard this episode's going to be funny. What is your impression of what this episode's going to be going forward right now? So now these are going to be like, oh, we're quirky aliens who do quirky things. And, oh, you don't understand us, but we're doing, like, Ren Faire things to you. And, oh, ha, ha. Ren Faire. So what I'm catching from you so far is you're pretty excited for this episode. I'm very nervous about this episode right now. Let's find out what happens.
[5:54] Oh, it's like a liquid. It's bleeding. Isn't that weird, huh? That looks like they just took a bunch of glow sticks and cracked them open and put the liquid on the thing. Our plant life on Earth accounts for more than 80% of our medicinal resources. We should really check it out. They look like fungi, and he's having an allergic reaction to it, so yeah.
[6:14] Those look a lot like fungi spores coming up. Is it fungi or fungi? I think it's fungi. I'm going to say fungi because that guy's a fungi. There's your fungi right there. So just bear in mind when they filmed this, it was like in the dead butt of winter. And it's freezing outside. Shrinkage! Well, no, production was really concerned that this guy was going to die. Oh my gosh. Because of how little... You know, you can clearly see the clothes he's wearing. Yeah, not the best practical setup. But also, like, probably kept him alive.
[6:50] Oh, God, he's doing exactly what I was... Look at me! Look at me! Yeah. Oh! No offense to people who do the Ren Faire thing. People love it. It's great. But there's a certain behavior. Do you hear the noise? Yeah. If that's him screaming... I wonder if when they auditioned these alien people, there was like let me see your butt cheeks i need to see what i will i was gonna save this for later though the main guy that we saw there he's a cirque de soleil performer oh and they brought him in and he's like teaching everybody like how this movement works like all the extras and stuff okay that's kind of fun yeah so if you watch him like like those guys look a little weird and awkward with it like but he's super graceful the the main guy that we just saw i like that you You could see the zipper in the back of that dude's ass. They don't even try. Yeah.
[7:44] Oh man he just got married by the way right yeah he's gonna start aging rapidly and he's married to that dude right he just became part of the tribe that's probably what happened oh there you go thank you yeah or they just thought it was funny to touch him i'm gonna say something i've never said on this show before brent what's that i'm ready for this episode to be over already, okay just because you said that i will tell you this is my least favorite episode of the entire series okay yeah this is i cannot wait for us to get through this episode.
[8:21] Like first commandment and emancipation at least make me feel something okay yeah this episode to me commits the ultimate sin of being boring yeah think like this is the episode which you're experiencing right now like something although stranger cultures i've ever seen i am watching this for a different reason though so yeah but there's very little sign of actual social communication had more successful conversation this episode just it feels like a throwaway script from season one so they're probably a little less involved that they just pulled out of the closet yeah we got to fill an episode we got i do i do know on a production level if you remind me i'll talk about this later um there's a person who wrote this episode and then, robert c cooper the showrunner did extensive rewrites yes the the the yes thank you get something out of it yeah this is a major breakthrough and by the way when i meant a rejected script from season one i meant rejected script from season one of course star trek the Next Generation. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I can't find a pulse, but I don't know if that means anything. I think Next Generation would have absolutely made this episode if they got in the script. Why don't we back off for now?
[9:38] Dude's just dropping dead. Daniel's like, crap. I introduced COVID to this tribe. Did we not leave now? Before they start asking questions. Our presence here may make more of them ill. Well, whatever it is, it's turning into an epidemic. Three people have gotten it.
[9:59] Yeah, but that's all in pretty fast succession. Also, I get why they're wearing these bunny suit things. Not going to be real comfortable for the Renfair guys. We're not making things worse by being here? No, I think the damage is probably already done. Quarantine the sick in case... You've already killed them, so... I also suggest you check out the other villages in the distance. If this illness is present there just may rule us out as the origin and if it's not there maybe you'll introduce it okay carter you go back with frazier report to general hammond get your hand looked at daniel literally the doctor's right there she can look at it right here that is a field medic injury like that's it spray it with semantic septic or whatever and unless it's like.
[10:47] Is he relieved? Is he sad? Does he have gas? All of the above. Fun fact, those guys have never farted in their room. Right? That's how they're walking. They have to fart. And they can't. Wasn't this dude dead a second ago? Or did they take a live one? Well, yeah. I don't think anybody has died. I think they're just sick. Okay. All right. You'll be okay. Hey, you know what he sounds like? A little gizmo from Gremlins? Yes. When he's singing, like when he's in the shop? They're going to stick him into an MRI machine. Right. Yeah, I know what an MRI machine is, and I can't stand being in there. The first time that thing goes click, he is flipping out. Right? That's not exactly normal, is it? Not from any anatomy I've learned. Look at this.
[11:44] Commercial break hey look at this fade to black don't fade to black cut to black i mean you you had 1.2 seconds to look at it i hope you got a good shot of it jeff it was clearly on screen how could you miss it they said it before there's a picture right in front of you saw it it was right there the disease does not appear to be local to the village you encounter the muscle that i've identified as the alien's heart is beating more and more radically so whatever he's got is going to kill him didn't say that i don't know how much aliens hearts in their life sir i'm afraid to administer drugs because it could make them worse and they're clearly unable to help themselves, watch your tone there captain trampling through the galaxy with no regard for the damage that we can do we don't necessarily don't know we caused this damage we need more time a lot more time it means that on a good day you can be a little flaky so he's getting sick and he's turning into a jerk condescending and if there's like a connection there maybe just see see see see, mythology is one of the primary motivations for cultural development maybe it is what's that got to do with filming a plan exactly what does that mean I don't know, I think we should probably go back and get checked out huh I will remain.
[13:01] Why? At this point, seriously, why? There's nothing yet. Let that video camera run. Is he packing up the camera? Like he said, if we're not back in 12 hours, come on home. Literally, that's the amount of time it takes to get to the gate and back. I'll keep both of my eyes on the Daniel Jackson. According to a six-hour run time. If we're not immediately back. But now I feel fine. Colonel, are you okay? I'm feeling better, actually. That's because when you go through the Stargate, The pattern buffer sucks out all the bad stuff and then it's pretty healthy. Uses your clean backup. Sorry, you were going to say. He's flatlining. Normally I defillate, but I don't know what it'll do in this case. Or really where to put the paddles. One on each cheek. Yep. Hello, you just happy to see me or? Is there some mycelium in your pocket or are you happy to see me? Ha ha ha ha!
[14:09] I get it so uav hit the one caused the green goo to come out that released stuff into the atmosphere what are you looking for tilk touched it it's an overload of it as gould can't handle it so it's just all they didn't cause it. You're a good guesser, Jeff. Daniel, we can't always expect things to go the way we want. I feel like this is one of those episodes that probably when they read the script it looked really good. Yeah, this will be interesting. Let's dive into this. Do this. And at some point they're filming this. You're killing a whole race of people here! How can I not care? Okay, so then when did this start? It was probably while I was watching them. Excuse me. You always know they figure it out when they don't finish the sentence. Yeah.
[15:04] Yeah, they were doing their singing thing. They might have been like trying to harmonize with something that your ears just can't hear. The cure is a song. We have to hit that family harmony. What are you doing? I'm looking for something that we can't hear. Long-term exposure to certain sounds have been documented to cause serious physical side effects. Your headaches, nausea, severe irritability. They've recently tied that to the Taylor Swift albums. I bet this is what was interfering with our remote control on the UAV. That's funny. I appreciate it. I'm not a Swifty, but I will hear nothing against my girl's teeth. I want her as a role model for my daughter. Go make a bajillion dollars, baby. Be you. Go. Colonel, incoming wormhole. Also, I'm just waiting for the Travis Kelsey breakup album at this point. SG-1 code nerd. See if she reaches Adele status. You know, the thing is, by the time this episode airs, when you folk out there watching it, Travis and Taylor might be long gone. Ancient, yeah, ancient history. Yeah, yeah. They're still rock and rollin' right now.
[16:12] Some kind of bad sound on that planet. It's what made us sick. I guess it just took you a little longer to cave in. Well, it's not viral or anything like that, so the Gould wouldn't be able to filter it out or fix it. I made a discovery while observing your plants, Daniel Jackson. You saw them grow? Indeed. I saw several of them rise. When I approached the retracted into the ground, I removed the dirt from around the retracted plants.
[16:35] Jeff buddy we have finally hit that spot we have we have finally hit the spots and this is a spot i've been waiting for for a long time i'm sure you've seen the memes i'm sure you've seen the gifts maybe one of the games we play here at stargate sg1 for the first time is we are counting, different things that happen jack says for crying out loud we're counting those we've talked about daniel dying anytime daniel has a death scene and we've had a couple of those so far we finally hit a new thing we are going to start counting every time teal says indeed indeed this is his first instance of say it took this long it shocks me all of you out there who've watched the show before it's shocking that it's this late it's at the end of season two before we get our first indeed from teal you saw them grow indeed i saw several of them rise when i approached the retracted That actually, that may be the thing that this episode gets the most credit for. And you say it attacked you. As I drew near the organism, I became disoriented. That's it. What? Where are you going? Come on.
[17:50] Follow me. Daniel does that stuff a lot. Can we record audio from the UAV's aerial run over PJ2445? Sure. The plant is making that sound? sir it's an alien organism on another planet oh is that what it is we accidentally changed the sound the organism naturally makes why would the sound change because you knocked it over it's alive we heard it they need the sound to live but we altered it by harming the organism that makes the sound thank you for clarifying for us watching my hunch is they don't really care for us very much we really mess stuff up for them, I like the speaker that they left here. Okay, let's fast forward a couple of years. Another exploration group comes through the gate, not from Earth, just from some other planet. And they see this primitive culture with this thing chilling next to their village. How do you think it got there? Right. It's not going to be... Well, and worse, they're going to start worshiping it. Like a whole religion is going to come up around this thing. Well, when we revisit these folks in Season 4... I don't know. No. I'll skip season four. Let us in on this punch. Season four is great. Not yet, sir. We need a little bit of tension for this episode. Joel and R. I talk to my plants, okay? She talks to her plants. Sam's been here.
[19:08] Music.
[19:14] Oh, look. Oh, look at that. They're flooding flowers.
[19:25] All right jeff we have just endured one false step i'd like to say welcome back to our audio listeners who have now rejoined us um well i'm sorry jeff yeah jeff wait wake up jeff i i you got a show to do you said wake up it woke me up and i and i i'm curious could i go back in time and become an audio listener so I can gate past that thing? That's not fair. I want to start on a high note. There were some cool things in this episode. Very early on, I asked a question. So they have this new thing. It's the first time we've seen it. The UAV flies in. Now they can do longer distance reconnaissance. But it really hit me that... We're getting all this new technology, you know, that's showing up now. That's the whole mission of the Stargate program, right, is to go out and make contact, find technology, find medicine, find these things. And so, like, we're just now at this point in the end of the second season, we're starting to get this. My assumption that I'm looking forward to seeing is that's going to be the thing, right? And so over the course of the next many seasons, we're going to start developing more and more technology that puts us on par more with the Gould and some of the other, the Asgard and the other, uh, the, you know, the, the, the final four and, uh, and the Gould and all that kind of stuff. And so that's kind of cool. I think it was an important, important moment in Stargate.
[20:54] Also, um, Cirque du Soleil guy. So the, the main Ren Faire alien guy was Cirque du Soleil actor. Um, It was so dumb and ridiculous what they were doing, but he did a really good job. Yeah. Like, I believed him, you know? It was so smooth in his movements. Like, I've never watched his movements before, but, like, particularly compared to everybody else, he just glided through that set. Yeah. It was relieving to see in everything. But, oh, my God. like this and then the other big thing that came out of this one was uh our first tilk indeed.
[21:35] Yeah so we talked about it during the episode but for our audio listeners that's the thing we're going to track now because apparently tilk says indeed a lot yes yes yep yeah he will he will say it's he he says it enough for us to like count it like he says it enough that just pull up a gif of Teal'c nine out of ten are him going indeed okay, like it's just it's his catchphrase you know there you go so this during during the watch you said that on paper this script probably looked pretty interesting pretty good yeah for those of you listening or watching who aren't clear i hated this episode and maybe a third of the way through i was like i can't wait for this to be over this is awful and i knew it was going to be awful the minute alien dude looked in the camera and the music got all think it think it think sci-fi comedy thing i'm like oh no no they're gonna make it this and they did and it was awful.
[22:34] But the idea of this like to your point on the script but the idea of this was so cool, life that's dependent has a symbiotic relationship with sound what a cool concept you know Oh, my God. I hope we never have to explore it again.
[22:53] I have only really only one more thought on this. And it was a throwaway line at the end of the episode that I think, actually, before I even go there, there's two things on this that kind of saved the episode for me. One was Tilk's fake smile. Okay. That was awesome. This episode's almost, almost worth watching just to see that. But the other one is this thing is throwaway line at the very end where Sam's got this hunch about, you know, what's going to happen with the aliens and the plants and like, well, how do you know this? And she's like, uh, I talked to my plants, you know, it almost does the wah, wah, wah as the episode ends. But the thing is like, we now know at the time that we're recording this, we understand that there are for reals, mycelial networks, plant networks that exist in that plants Communicate trees talk to each other. I think communicate they warn each other of things they move Very slowly, you know over over spans of time like we know that plants are much I won't say sentient But they're much more.
[23:58] Active, much more, uh, cognitively alive than we had ever assumed they were. In fact, with some plants, they've even recorded at different frequencies, screams, like when we, when we harvest them, which is for, if, for our wonderful, amazing vegan friends out there might poke a hole in some of your theories about, uh, cruelty and food. Uh, we just didn't see the cruelty with the, with the plants possibly, but it was. It's just interesting to me that here, you know, 25 years ago when this episode aired, that's a joke. Now, 25 years later, we understand, no, you do talk to your plants and you do play music for your plants. And when you do sit under a tree and like you're calm or you're not calm or whatever, there actually becomes this kind of symbiotic relationship between the two of you where the tree like helps regulate you. And it it can change the oxygen content around you to like help your body be good and it can read those things this this is very new science that's out there and i don't know a lot about it i mostly know it because my my wife is really into a lot of the tree stuff that's going on.
[25:08] And i had the opportunity and yeah yeah she would be she loves trees you know and yeah and real honestly i don't want to tell her story it's a powerful story but she had she sat under a hawthorne tree uh one time and she said like for the first time in so long like she felt this this peace that like she couldn't even imagine and it was only when she was under the tree and like you know when she got up and left it was it was gone prompted her to do a lot of research and it's like trees and specifically the hawthorne tree there's a lot of stuff it's a fascinating plant but trees they'll they'll do that you lean up against it you've got problems or good or whatever going on it senses that and it does what it can essentially chemically biologically to help accentuate the good in you and bring you to homeostasis and to peace, Jeff, if I may, I, I don't, I don't know anything that you're talking about right now. And frankly, it all sounds like a bunch of hooey.
[26:05] But here's what I know. My country grandmama told me you should always have live plants in the house. Don't have those fake ones, live plants. You should have a live plant in every room of the house. Maybe there's something to it. Yeah. I think there might be, you know, cause that, that old kind of wisdom, you know, that's, I don't know that you can explain much of that through science, you know, at least back in the day, but they just know it works. Well, I think that's the thing about science. In our world, and we explored this a little bit in Babylon 5, but until we understand a thing, it's magic.
[26:41] And through science, we're able to figure the things out. And I think that a lot of the interactions that we had with plants unknowingly for millennia was magic, essentially. I don't know how it works, I don't know what, but it works, so make sure you do this. But through science, now we're starting to understand why, that there is this feedback loop, this biofeedback model between us and a lot of plants out there, and they can adjust oxygen levels, CO2 levels, whatever, that impact us in different ways. I had the opportunity in my state, we were the first state to put psilocybin, you know, magic mushrooms, out for people to, we've regulated them and somewhat legalized. And I had the opportunity to sit on the board that helped put a lot of the initial regulations together. And we have tribal, confederated tribal nations here in the Pacific Northwest that are a political force. And so they sat on the board. And long story, but they shared a lot about the cultural importance of the mushrooms and the psilocybin to really their spiritual life. And they said, you know, putting modern terms on it, they'd say if a member of the tribe experienced a trauma, they would go on what we now call like a vision quest, essentially go out, they would take the mushrooms, and then through that experience, they would heal that trauma. We're doing that now with guides and helping people, but it was just part of their culture.
[28:06] Someone at the meeting asked them, well, they just go out in the middle of nowhere and they take mushrooms. How does it know...
[28:14] Like what trauma to go to? How does it know what the person needs? And they said, because we're all part of the same, the same, you know, fabric, we're all part of the same thing. And we all communicate. It knows what's wrong with all of us. And once we have it, it can, it can find the thing that we need to go together. It speaks to a lot. I'm going off on a lot of tangents here, but it speaks to so many things around like, you know, I think about the God of Spinoza. I think about, uh, Minbari religion of, you know, we're all manifestations of the universe and we're all connected i'm talking a lot about this really cool thing from one throwaway line at the very end of this episode played for laughs i'm literally trying to make things up to make this episode even a little bit interesting my question to you brent were there any sci-fi messages in this one that made it worth watching no yeah that's what i thought too no they're worse than sci-fi messages i just don't know that it made it worth watching but i'll go into the ones that i found that were in there um honestly they're they're it's fairly uh you know in the words our friends over at mission log bonk bonk over the head um sam says in a moment we can't go trampling through the galaxy with no regard for what kind of damage we can do i mean this to me is is a geopolitical warning when you get involved in stuff around the around the globe you can't just go trampling through there with no regard for the damage you're doing to the society that you're leaving behind, you know, and that's, that's the thing is, you know.
[29:43] Sci-fi takes to other worlds and other planets and shows us what happens over there and that should stand in for a metaphor of what we do here within our our own macrocosm as a as a globe as a global community right uh hammond hammond just goes look they're dying there's only so much we're willing to devote to this whether it's our fault or not we're only going to do so much and then we're moving on you know it's sad to be them right sam says but we did this so we're responsible daniel has a reaction at one point rather violent reaction we're killing a whole race of people here how can i not care jeff i'll simply say this may we all be like daniel and sam yeah and not like general hammond may we care let's just care uh i don't know that we'll always have the solutions i don't know that we'll always be able to get out there and do things right but we should at least care you know be careful of what we do while we're out there fix the things that we break i think that's a you know we're gonna break some stuff it's gonna happen yeah like that's an accepted part of being a part of the galactic community i'm sorry of the global community.
[30:52] Right but you gotta fix the things you broke and if you're killing an entire race of people how do you not care you've got to care right and turns out this show did exactly what every good star trek i'm specifically naming star trek you take this weird supernatural thing which actually turns out was very natural and then you scienced it it went from a moral problem to we fixed it with science.
[31:22] You know turns out they were actually still responsible but we can go in and fix it and we're all good everybody feels good and we can make a little plant joke here at the end ha ha ha ha ha let's move on uh that's.
[31:35] What i got and jeff i don't think i could say anything better than what i just said a moment ago let's move on yeah i'll add one piece before you rate it because what you were saying really reminded me there's a concept out there of uh stewardship right you know caring for things and using things that don't necessarily belong to you using a lot of religious context it's used in you know climate change things like that but i want to take it to something even more simple and i think what they kind of tried to do a little bit here and with some technology that we poked some fun at but.
[32:07] Uh, there's, there's a thing out there called the Nordstrom way. Um, you know, based on the, the, the customer service model that Nordstrom stores have, but you can boil the Nordstrom way into one phrase, leave it better than you found it. And they talk about that with customer interactions, but it applies here. You know, Hey, you messed this thing up. Or even if you didn't mess it up, you were there, leave it better than, than you found it. Or even just in a microcosm, your kid walks into the kitchen and makes a sandwich or something. Don't just clean up your mess. clip the kitchen leave the kitchen better than you found it that's kind of what i got out of what you were just talking through so yeah how many chevrons you give this bad boy gosh i don't know it's so hard we're doing out of seven you know which throws the ranking off i kind of wish i could do this back out of five if this was a if this was a five you know i i think i think as far as a message goes the intentionality of the writer i think it's there i guess the point, exactly i like i think it's really there i'm having a hard time going five or seven depending on on our ranking scale it's seven right now like i'm having a hard time saying that uh because, again there are some places and i'm gonna d i think we're we're we're dinging people a lot more these days for how not just how much is the message there but how well did they discuss it.
[33:24] I i don't i think they discussed it quite a bit but i don't know that they really discussed it, you know they just sort of let it be there as it was more subtext and what was going on which is fine legitimate way of doing something um i have a hard time not putting my own personal feelings into this particular episode you know because my own personal ranking into this episode um because i want to give it like one chevron but i think it clearly deserves more than that as far as the message is peace so on a scale of zero to seven i don't know jeff what do you think it's five chevron episode i was gonna say like if it light up five of them for you if we were on the five scale i would think close to a three yeah so yeah i think like a five out of seven a little over half yeah yeah yeah so four four five somewhere around there yeah that makes sense yeah very very definitive not wishy-washy at all jeff uh i i got to rate this is that i'm just talking about the message that's all i'm talking about was was the message and it does seem to be very intentional jeff you get to rank talking.
[34:29] About how much we liked or i guess in this case didn't like an episode uh jeff i'm pretty sure i know where this one is going so i'm going to read our current bottom five yeah just know i already i already typed it in there so don't read it yet i see it yeah i see it in there uh the current bottom five i will read from top down number 13 is need 14 is family 15 was bane 16 is the dwight chultz episode gamekeeper 17 was the old lady linnea prisoners jeff where do you place one false step i i placed this one below emancipation in the first season this to date is my least favorite episode of stargate is it below first commandment from the first season and if i remember right first season to me first commandment is below emancipation wow like like like if i rank my bottom three episodes of stargate so far.
[35:27] One false step actually first commandment one false step emancipation so our bottom my bottom three for season one was emancipation hathor the first commandment and oh yeah i would shake this up and say the bottom three so far i i would almost completely agree i would i would say one false step and then i don't know it's almost a toss-up between emancipation first man i look back on first commandment i think i was very kind to it yeah saying a lot but yeah this is this This is the bottom episode, and I will be – I hope it stays at the bottom because if it gets worse than this, Brent, I don't know if I'm going to have what it takes to get through this series.
[36:07] If it stays at the bottom, Jeff, you're not paying attention to the show. That's a concern. Just so you're saying. Just so I'm saying. Okay. Like if you're paying attention to the show, it will stay – wait. If it doesn't stay at the bottom, you're not paying attention to the show. That's what I meant. That's a lot better. I was like, what? what yeah sorry yeah wow almost jeff almost quit the show i know just like i'm out i'm out.
[36:34] Uh i will tell you jeff even in the we have three set three episodes left and i will tell you i think uh at least two of the three are gonna be good times nice that's not bad the other one is one i don't skip when i do rewatches okay like you know uh i'll let you figure it out and sort out which ones you feel like that for yourself as we go through them jeff speaking of next week would you like to know what we're watching next time i would love to know we're watching an episode called you ready go back to your kindergarten days go and tell show and tell show and tell get your mind out of the gutter and give us a guess on what you think this episode might be My first thought was, and it's not going to be it because it was basically this episode, like they run into a race or a species that can't communicate verbally. So they have to show and tell to try and figure things out. Darmok. Yeah, pretty much. Right. It's not going to be that. Wow. I don't know.
[37:37] They're gonna they're gonna run into no no they're gonna have a visitor come through i don't know how that someone's gonna come to them somehow and bring something with them maybe it's a race we've run into before and like they're like hey we got then we have this thing and uh they show it but then as they tell it we learn bad stuff about it i really have no idea what this one's going to be about you're a good guesser jeff yeah thanks you're a good guesser well we will see next time right here on stargate sg1 for the first time thank you guys so much for joining us we really appreciate it especially if you've stuck around through this particular episode for real um, don't forget wherever you are to subscribe to the channel we got lots of stuff happening here at uh at are we calling it by nerds yet i hope we're calling it by nerds but i think we're there.

[39:10] You really want to prolong this, Jeff? Just a little bit, because I had another thought. Okay. I said this was my... Thank you.
