[0:35]Welcome to Stargate SG-1 for the first time, still not a Star Trek podcast. My name is Jeff Akin, and I'm watching Stargate SG-1 for the first time. And I'm Brent Allen, and I'm watching Stargate SG-1 for the 47th time. But for the first time, I am looking for what Stargate is trying to teach us. You know, what are those sci-fi messages, those things that hold up a mirror to society, give us hope that things might be better in the future, or just tell us how to be playing better human beings to one another. But we're at the halfway point of season three holy cow are we watching watching episode 11 of season three past and present now when we were getting ready to do the prediction last week you told me this was a sequel to an episode but didn't tell me which one it's true my guess is it's a sequel to secrets which is where we learned about all the chicanery and terroristy stuff going on with uh you know in the earth government stuff and or i guess the u.s government is a little babylon five that was that was the one the uh the news reporter came and approached jack and was like i know all your stuff dude and then like he got jacked yeah that's the one so i think it's going to be a uh sequel to that where we're actually going to meet some of these uh, you know, other, other people that were anti Stargate program, one's going to come into the SGC and start spilling the beans. Okay. I'm excited to find out about it, but I'm also excited to find out what cool things and factoids you've got about this episode. Brent, what do you got? Nothing, nothing, nothing.
[2:05]It's an unknown writer and unknown director. We've never heard of before. It is the 11th episode air date, October 15th, 1999. So, you know, it's, it's still in that deal. Jeff, I will say this though, just to kind of prep this episode. I will tell you this is not a sequel from last week's episode. Okay. However, I just need something.
[2:25]Remind us what happened in last week's episode. Last week's episode? Yep. Last week's episode. Sharae. Forever in a day. Sharae. She's dead. Sharae dead. Daniel Jackson's wife is dead. You went straight to that. You could have done anything out of that whole episode. You went straight to Daniel Jackson's wife is dead. That's a big deal. It is a big deal. Huge. It's a big deal. It's a big deal. So just file that away in the back of your brain and know that this is literally the next episode. Okay. Let me just bloop. There it is.
[2:55]Well, with that, Jeff, it is time to go watch this episode. Hey, listen, if you're watching this and you're joining us for the very first time, first of all, welcome. You're amazing. You're awesome. So glad that you made it here. The way this works is, as I just said, Jeff and I are going to go watch the episode right now. He's never seen it. I'm watching it for the first time for messages. we're going to watch it right now together uh if you're uh watching this with us on youtube uh just hang out because you're going to get our reaction to that video um and if you want the full unedited version of that go over to our patreon page at patreon.com slash bye nerds if you're listening to us on a podcasting app to the audio version of this we're about to join you on the other side of our episode recap where we're going to share or i'm going to share my first time reactions brent's going to share the sci-fi messages that he may or may not have found in it so brent, Let's shoot into the future with past and present. Let's go. Chevron 7 locked.
[4:06]Anybody get the feeling these folks don't do a lot of traveling? It's a lot of packing. Well, they might not even know what the gate is. I mean, uh, maybe just some sort of artifact to them. I could stand here for months pressing symbols and still not find a combination that opens a wormhole. Yeah, if it was lighting up, though, you'd probably start doing a little uh-oh. O'Neal. It's children of the corn. They're coming in. It was like an explosion, Orner. I heard it. There wasn't any explosion. I'm telling you, I heard something. And then it sounded like someone was stirring macaroni. It was a big one. A big one. Hello? You heard us. Is that first contact protocol there, Jeff? Yeah, not so much. She just popped out of nowhere, fully armed. How did you get in here? Door is open. Show me your papers. Wow, okay. Very efficient. Papers. We're travelers. We've come to meet you. You meet me? Not you. Actually, I meant your people. I'm Daniel. This is Major Carter and Jack O'Neill and Teal'c. I like how she gets Major, but he just gets Jack. Right. It was given by my father. It means strength. You remember your father for as long as I draw breath, then you could have not been here at the time of the void.
[5:21]Music.
[5:35]This feels like a setup for a Voyager episode to me for some reason. Yeah. Not TNG, not Deep Space Nine. I could see it being a TOS episode also. Possibly. Possibly, yeah. It just has that vibe of a Voyager feel to me. I think of the captains also, Janeway would be the most likely one to be like, well then let's go uncover what happened before the Vorlix. Right. Let's upset your entire society and solve this mystery that is probably a reason that it's there. Probably. You don't know who Kira is. She is minister of health, science, and restructuring in the Vias transitional government. Busy gal. She would be the one who's in charge then. Not you. After you. Right. She's called a minister of things. Many things. You needn't flatter the woman when she isn't even in the room. I'll take them. You go home. Well, don't expect supper. Never do. Wow.
[6:31]They must be married. Yeah, I was going to say married or brother and sister. They must be married. Yeah, that's a lot. Wow. Orner, you were about to introduce your friends. They are travelers, Kira, from far away. I can see that. So I'm guessing you were or are a doctor. It seems to me that before the Vorlicks, I helped others. That is all that I sense. Are you? A doctor? No. Oh, yeah. Yes. I'm a doctor of archaeology. His eyebrows are very... ...steadic past. Yeah. Thinured. Then you are a most welcome visitor here, Daniel. Not bushy, thick, but like... They were not here at the time of the Warlings. You've done absolutely the right thing in bringing them here, Orner. Thank you. You can go now. Orner's just got a... Did you ever watch Joe Monk? Yeah, yeah, yeah, with Tony Sloob? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was one of the main characters in that show. I was going to say, he looks really familiar. And that we need not wait until we regain our memories in order to renew our relationship. Perhaps you can help us. Please, follow me. I always find it interesting how amnesia works. Like, you remember how to talk and do math and things? This room has all of the knowledge and research who've been able to recover since the Vorlicks. The only remains of our elders we have found. We deduce the male must have been Dr. Zervis, and the female matches what little description he gave in his notes of the visitor. What is the name of this elder woman? She calls herself Linnea. Linnea.
[7:56]Think about it, O-One Who Was. The name of the episode is the one where they're locked up. It was the lady who like ran the prisoners. She ran like the prison gang thing. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. You remember she got away. Like she laughed through the Stargate. Well. Here's the sequel. Do you remember how you felt about that episode, Jeff? Yeah, I did not like that episode at all. No. Let's see if you like this one any better. Colonel? At least you know she's dead now. Hi. What's your name? I've informed Dr. Fraser that we may have located this planet when they escaped. He's like, that's not funny. Right. I'd like to know what we're dealing with here No, Daniel, whatever happened happened quickly without warning How do you know that? How do you know that? Right Because if you saw disaster coming, you would have left yourselves a note, Oh, he's getting flirty To whom it may concern He's like, it's been a week Let's do this.
[8:54]Go, Daniel. Sir? You never forget how to ride a bike. He's a free man now, Jeff.
[9:00]Tell me of Linnea. How about you tell me of you? Well, basically, we met her on a visit to another planet during which we were imprisoned unjustly, and Linnea helped us escape. Thanks for that episode recap. Right. Well, she was imprisoned justly. She killed a couple people. It was only after we escaped that we learned that this nice, This older lady we thought Linnea was was, in fact, a very, very bad older lady who had committed terrible crimes. She found your world because of us through one of our computers. And that's why we're going to do everything in our power to help. Jack's like, we are? Whoa. All right. I'll go on back and brief Hammond. I believe I can help. I'm sure you can. Help brief Hammond? What? Dude, look at Daniel. Well, she just talked about going to brief Hammond. He's like, hey. How about you brief me? All right. Why don't I brief you first? Since the Vorlick's close contact has become almost taboo, we were afraid that if we were ever able to regain our memories, you would find yourself waking up beside the wrong person. But you are not from bias. From there. From bias, no. She's like, come on, Daniel. I literally need 14 seconds. Let's just do this. I understand. No, you don't. It won't take long. Let's go. It's been a while. I mean, I'm... Okay. I mean, I'm finding myself very, very, very.
[10:25]But the fact is, I've only just recently lost my wife. Hey, he remembered her, Jeff. Right. What, 20 minutes into the episode? I actually really lost her a long time ago. But the fact is, I don't think right now I would trust myself completely too well. She trusts you. Did you ever just talk away something, Jeff? Oh, probably. You just couldn't shut up when you needed to shut up. Very likely. I mean, we are podcasters. When my memory returns, I find myself attached to someone else and am unable to ever do it again. Except for that person, which would probably be fine and great, actually. That's probably why I should do this.
[11:03]Nope see you shouldn't do that this is this is him doing that after you know after him being vulnerable and saying hey just lost my wife after losing her one time i just lost her again for reals and then her saying you know like i might be attached to somebody in this and then he goes well then i need to do this that is exactly the same as jack making out with alt sam totally taking advantage of a situation. Yeah. Not letting that go. You were looking for me? Yes, sir. But she's clearly... She's down. Apparently she found a link between Dargal, it's a chemical pesticide, the viands used, and longevity. The point is, Linnea was trying to enhance the life-extending properties of Dargal to create a sort of fountain of youth. Now, what if there really was a laboratory accident? Some massive chain reaction of enhanced Dargal gas that caught even Linnea by surprise. The entire population becomes young again overnight. There's some lab experiment in Wuhan that went south really fast.
[12:06]It's like, please, help me out here. Their elders aren't missing, sir. They are the elders. They are the elders. The Fountain of Youth worked. The amnesia was simply a side effect Linnea didn't see coming. Wait a minute. Linnea is dead, right? Well, if those two bodies that Kira found really were the Vian elders that Linnea was experimenting on... Don't say it, Carter. Sir, we wouldn't recognize her, even if she walked in the front door. She's not going to walk in a door. She's laying in bed. The chemistry, the medical skills.
[12:38]I think we have to at least face the possibility that Kira is Linnea. Yeah yep and daniel just she's also a victim of the destroyed that world fits okay let's track what's happened so far between prisoners in this episode uh they meet the girl on another planet she's clearly leading the whole thing even if she's not actually the named leader um they do something where they bring her back through the stargate yep they show her around teach her all sorts of stuff total access to everything everything including daniels daniel daniel jr uh or whatever um so far it's a it's it's actually really interesting knowing the end of this and where this goes and kind of seeing what they're tracking together yeah and and how it's going to happen i'm interested to see what you say when we get to the end of it and discover the whole thing yeah this will be a fun one to go back and re-watch i think sure on my own build woman they found after the Horlicks that fits Linnea's description. Linnea's first victim. Come on, Daniel. You saw the test results. What more do you need? Kira's DNA is a perfect match with the samples I took from Linnea last year. It's irrefutable. Irrefutable? Okay. So let's just lock her up, throw away the key then. Or better yet, we could send her back to the prison where we found her. Linnea. She is not the same person. She is not who she used to be. Let's not condemn her for who she may have been in the past.
[14:02]She's already been informed Daniel Twice Look, she's in his shirt What's wrong? Curious how Daniel's gonna mishandle this Nothing, there are quarantine procedures that General Hammond is insisting on Is Dr. Fraser still working towards a cure for amnesia? Yes, she is So I can rest assured Yes, rest He's a little more standoffish now, isn't he? Uh-huh It's a little inner conflict going on Wasn't he just the one making the argument that she's not Linnea or not responsible for Linnea? Well, you get pretty self-righteous in front of the people putting it in your face, but then reality kind of hit him. She's a genocider that tried to kill him. Trying to dissolve a chemical inside the brain without harming the surrounding tissue, and it is not easy. Kira wants nothing more than to help her people. And as long as she doesn't take the antidote that she comes up with. There won't be an antidote without her help, so. So, it's up to you, sirs. Maybe this time don't give her completely unsupervised free access to it. I think a caution or two might be in order, sir. You can run about that, Kyle. If it's unsuccessful, Orner may die. I would never forgive myself. I think a throes can all agree that Orner can... I know how important this is to our people. She would forgive herself. Yeah. It's really okay. It must be injected directly into the carotid artery. Ouch. You ready? No. How do you get ready for something? Right there.
[15:24]Shoot this into my carotid artery and let's see if i die how do you feel the effect should be almost immediate you recall anything.
[15:38]I could see up his dress make sure he chokes on his i mean take care of his tongue well yeah roll him over like he's not breathing there's no pulse it's a cold blue i've watched this scene with i've watched like positions they're like that's not how you do any of this stuff that's not how you bag anybody. That's not what you do with paddles. They got a military advisor. They need their medical advisor. This is the way Hollywood does it. I am sorry. Next time it won't work. I believe I know where I miscalculated. May we begin again? Why don't we wait and see how Orner feels in a little while? I think you should get back to work. It did not work. We must try again. Daniel, may we be allowed to speak alone? Yes. I'm just going to stay for a minute. She's going to be like, what the actual Wolf. Tilk. Aw, Tilk's a good friend. I'm concerned only for your welfare, Daniel Jackson. I know. I'm so concerned for your welfare. I shot your wife.
[16:37]Tilk is now the Jakar to Daniel's Londo. Totally. He's going to make him sit on the inside aisle of the airplanes or the transports or whatever. It proves that you and Lene are the same person. Well, the test is wrong. You are Kira. You're Kira now. Care is wonderful as long as you remain that person that will never change i mean jeff is this is this dr franklin level inappropriateness that i will never be able to take the antidote, no that's a whole different level of inappropriate and she she came on to him do you believe me true he was quick to sign on though i'm gonna keep this as jack in a jack level of inappropriate and i'm sure that'll go over just as well as the last time i said jack That was inappropriate. We should perform the test once more to be sure. I think it's better if we do this ourselves. Thank you. I see. May I return later to observe the test? Sure.
[17:36]Uh-oh. She's like, I'll do it in front of Tilk. It's fine. He has no idea what's going on here. Underhand, Jeff. Mm-hmm.
[17:46]How are you going to get that into your... What happens if she licks it? I was going to say, how are you going to get that into your carotid artery? This time it won't work. Are you feeling any pain? Something, not pain.
[17:58]There you go. Don't let him swallow his own tongue. That'd be overwhelming, though, to basically have a lifetime of memories just show up in your head. My real name is Nudal. And you are? I remember everything. Thank you. And are we married after all? no i'm afraid i'm married to leal and who's that you better be you, Yeah! Yeah! Look, you're all young again. It was great. Oh, I did. I mean, she got it off a slide. I still don't quite get how she, what she thinks she could do with that, or what's going on. I think she administered it with a television plot. I hear that's a really effective way. Even when it defies all logic. Yeah. It's very effective. Totally. It still works. Well, if you don't take the antidote, I see no reason why you can't go back to Vyas. I intend to ask them. They'll fear me. I would. For all that you've done for them, they'll be grateful. All debts have now been paid. Nice little sting right there. I'll come back after I've had a chance to speak with your people. I shall miss you, Daniel.
[19:20]Run! You've taken the antidote. Leave, Daniel. You said all debts have now been paid. That was the message Linnea left behind. Was it? Did you take the antidote? I had to know, Daniel. I didn't believe you. Kira. I'm not Kira, am I? I am the murderer that you said I was. No, you're not. I need only smash these vials together to create a poisonous gas that will fill this room. Now, I only want to harm myself. I don't want you to be here, please. And you'll have to kill me, too, because I'm staying. You just met her. This isn't how it works. But there's this other part of me that would gladly watch you die. Step side, Daniel. Don't. He just wants to kill. There's another way to kill. Move. Give me the vials, Kira. You don't need to do this. There are two people inside of me, and one of them is a monster. In time, she will win. You won't hurt me, because there's another way, Kira. I'm not her! No, you're not. But you can be her again. Kira. So when you have, like, a mess of this Degol stuff just hanging out, just in case she discovers the antidote again. You're among friends. Every year or two she finds it and so we gotta give her another.
[20:31]Nothing. Your name is Kira. You've got a visitor here. Went too far. Mm-hmm. Now it's time to go home. Kira, these are friends of mine. Teal'c, Jack, General Hammond, Sam. When we get to season nine and we're a little desperate for storylines, she might come back. Do you know me? We do, Kira. We understand that you've lost your memory know that you are a great leader of our people And you are most welcome They still haven't fixed the infertility bit though, have they? Not that I know of We knew each other well before my memory That antidote has to go to another part of the body, a different artery Did we? I mean, no They found the fountain of youth, does it mean they're going to stay young? No, we never really did No, the first time we watched it.
[21:15]Music.
[21:36]All right, Jeff, we have just watched past and present for the very first time. I'm interested in where you are. I don't actually have a good sense on where you are on this, so lay it on us. Talk to us about your first watching experience of past and present. I think that I'm going to lay something at your feet here first. I think you're telling me this was a sequel. I understood it all so much more quickly than I think I would have if I didn't know that. Okay. Right? Right. Also, like, I think the story laid itself out pretty well. This was a, I had a note somewhere in here that like, this is a awesome concept for an episode.
[22:17]We've talked a lot about how Stargate will take a piece of an, of an older episode and create a whole new thing from it. It's not necessarily, you know, continuity. It's just, Hey, here's a cool thing we're going to revisit. This is an incredibly creative way to do that. Yeah yeah i think there's a there are a lot of stories in sci-fi around amnesia and things like that and this i'm going to say this one might be one of my favorite stories of how they've really amnesia yeah it's just cool the idea that not only is it amnesia but also that you are.
[22:48]Younger like it made you younger you forgot everything and so that mystery of like there's all these old people we have pictures of and they're gone we don't know what's going on because they're you so it's cool and i think that it was put together really well there were a handful of times that i thought this was going to be a different episode like at one point i started talking about the the dorgal and i thought oh gosh it's going to be a climate episode where they talk about how they had a pesticide that did this and it caused all these other issues that was there right they touched a couple times hey they were destroying their world this was bad but it wasn't that episode then i thought it was going to be a daniel um grieving the loss of his wife kind of episode and there was there's pieces of that in here but really this was just this was just pure science fiction that was fun and awesome until the very end and then and then it i just it all fell apart so yeah what i'm just so glad to hear you say that okay i'm just so glad to hear you'd say that because I was so order takes the antidote and like within a couple minutes he's like I'm no doll I remember everything I'm married to you this is awesome and then she takes it and there's this whole thing about having two people inside of her.
[24:12]What? Everything from that point to the end of the episode ruined everything. Like I was literally thinking about this as a top five episode for, for this season. Like this is, I love the idea. Not the first time Stargate has dropped the ball in the conclusion of an episode, in my opinion. But yeah, like my note here, I'm just like, how does this work? This doesn't even make sense. And i'm looking at it just from a storytelling standpoint there was this whole weird thing going on where like everybody knew what was up but no one would say what was up you know it's like hey we all know she might be linnea she knows she might be linnea we're not going to talk about it we're still going to be secretive so they created a situation that forced her into going to take this antidote and then it works all weird for her so fun journey neat episode fell apart at the end my big takeaway in this one though conversation point what makes you you right so we got linnea total genocider right destroyer of worlds yeah one of my favorite notes that i that i took on here Let's see, where is it here? Yeah. Oh, my God. Kira is Linnea. I guess Daniel is the destroyer of her worlds.
[25:37]Yeah. But it just really made me think about that. You lose all of your memories of who you are, but it's physically still. Is that who you are? The accumulation of your memories? Kira was a very different person than Linnea. So different. Yeah. They came up with a whole protocol to make sure they kept Linnea, who's still there, but kept her suppressed and everything. And so it's a very fascinating, I think, way of, I don't know, what makes you, you?
[26:08]I don't know if you have any thoughts on that of this episode or just in general. In general, Jeff, this is not my favorite episode. That's Brent's opinion. Okay. You know, I think your deal is fair. The first two thirds of the episode, maybe even three fourths of the episode are actually relatively okay. And then it just kind of goes off the way off the off the tracks, you know. But what you just said there is everything that I had written down.
[26:35]Of course. Right. are you responsible it was kira responsible for linnea is she the same person you know what this sounds to me like jeff what's that a lesser version of passing through get sent to me from babylon five hundred percent hundred percent was was brother edward edward edward was he the same person as chucky yeah you know he thought he was right and just just like kira started taking that on with linnea very similar well and so but does the fact that kira wanted to off herself to prevent her from becoming a danger to everybody and to to feel that guilt to to feel guilt jeff a guilt that linnea never felt right at all um does that mean that she's actually different she says she can feel in a she feels two people i think about it kira is a very different person Kara has what, what does make you, you it's, it, isn't it a big piece of it is the collection of your experiences, i.e. your memories. You'd think so. Yeah. And those pieces, well, if those are taken away and you have a new set of memories, are you now not a different person? Effectively, you have a different core belief system. What did you say at the beginning? I do this because I, since I was here to help people. Yeah. It's what I've always done. Yeah.
[27:56]So, but Linnea comes into this world destroyer of worlds and she's like oh you guys have killed your entire um your planet.
[28:07]Population by by destroying your fertility and now you're all old and you're all about to die let me help like linnea that's linnea was ostensibly trying to help you know yeah um, So, so are you the same person? Are you responsible for the actions of, of someone in another life? I do have another one that I kind of like this one is, are you responsible for the results of somebody else's actions?
[28:35]If you were the one who allowed them to carry out those actions. Okay. It's like when they're saying we let her through the stargate, we gave her this information. This is on. Yeah. Yeah. So we've got to fix it. We broke it. We got to fix it. How much how much responsibility does sg1 slash earth really bear for linnea and coming out here to to do all this um i think of the movie captain america civil war okay and that movie bases its premise and in a lot of ways of of um particularly with um black panther's father uh to chaka i think was his name in the in the thing but he talks about like am am i responsible for the actions of that bad guy over there if i don't go do anything or is that person actually still responsible for their for for their their own actions um and and really what the show tried to seem to say was like look i'm not responsible for their actions exactly i am responsible to be safe and to for the things that.
[29:37]I have to do i'm not actually responsible for their actions well but you have the power to stop them but that doesn't mean that i should that doesn't mean that i should go do all this other stuff and put other people at danger for that for that piece again here you when you're moving from from path to path you're making the best call you possibly can make as you go forward they released her from prison and then they gave her knowledge and set her out upon the universe in the stargate system but does that mean that they're responsible for the actions that linnea commits while she's out there you know jeff there was something that we saw happened a lot in season one where the show would kind of present an idea and then do nothing with it just leave it out there you know they wouldn't even not even let you decide as an audience member nope just here it is presented the thought and then never followed it up they never explored it they never looked at it from one way looked at it from the other way they just moved on with their plot and that's exactly what this episode did so jeff when i really look at it i don't see a whole lot of messages so to speak come out i do like the one about is kira responsible for linnea are they the same person uh this is way worse though than passing through gethsemane passing gethsemane was phenomenal great uh this one not uh so i i do think there is still something there so i i'm inclined to give this one like one and a half maybe two chevrons but that's that's being generous i think because they really they just didn't do anything with it they didn't discuss it one way or the other. They brought it up. They said it.
[31:07]And then never, never even brought it up again. Precisely. I think this episode, it doesn't, it doesn't present messages. It presents philosophical questions that are ripe for debate and their, and questions to which in our understanding, there's not a right answer or a definitive answer. But the thing is they don't debate the question at all.
[31:26]I'm okay. If you don't provide an answer, I'm okay. If you leave the audience to decide on what their own answer is perfectly fair, but have that debate like it's it's right for the picking if you're gonna bring it up make the debate happen and uh yeah that's that's that's just bring some personal opinion it's fair well well i think that's the difference between this being a one and a half chevron episode and a four chevron episode is yeah have some of the debate and then we can pop you up to just over the halfway mark right yeah i think it would have been a much stronger episode uh to be frank with you because the rest of it really was just sort of Daniel Daniel pining over something like yeah I don't know I don't know so anyway Jeff uh I get that's what I mean I give it one and a half ish you know chevrons uh here's what I want to know from the folks out there how many chevrons do you give this one let us know down in the comments Jeff you my friend get to rank this episode you get to put it on the 100 100% completely accurate and definitive ranking of season three of Stargate SG1. You said this was going to be a top five episode, and then you said it wasn't going to be. So I'm going to go from the bottom five. We got 10 episodes in there right now. The bottom five are Deadman Switch.
[32:41]Rules of Engagement, Demons, Point of View, and Seth. Jeff, I vamped all I could to give you time to look up your notes on those previous episodes. What do you got? Yeah, I needed that time, which is great i a point that i i didn't make earlier that i'm going to make here because this is going to be this is the definitive point for me on where it lands where it lands yeah so you pick the right half of the current top 10 to read off because it's going to be in that that lower half here's the thing a couple episodes ago i threw a bomb that, Got you all met all bent out of shape. Got our audience all bent out of shape. When I'm like, Jack was wildly inappropriate when he kissed alt Sam. He was out of line and that was wrong. I think you're wrong, but okay.
[33:28]Daniel was Jack with alt Sam in this one. Yeah.
[33:31]Just like, she's like, Hey, I'm probably married to somebody else and have another commitment. And he's like, and I just lost my wife. Also, let's do this. Let's get it. Let's do this before we find out who you're married to. Yeah. Before we know anything. Like while I'm, while I'm feeling open and vulnerable and like ready, ready to rock in this window and you don't know, we can still claim ignorance while you're still on a break. Yeah, exactly. Well, I still have this hall pass from pesticides. Let's get this thing taken care of. I think in the episode Watch, you asked, and this is going to be our second direct Babylon 5 reference, but you asked, is this Dr. Franklin level bad? Because in the episode, I don't remember what the episode was, but basically, Dr. Franklin in Babylon 5, if you aren't familiar, there's this lady with amnesia who showed up and immediately, he's like, why don't you come stay in my quarters? I got a bed right here. yeah well she'd been in cryo freeze for like 100 years or something stupid like that yeah so wow and her husband and her husband just died as well not quite dr franklin bad but i actually put this at the same level as jack being inappropriate which they we all have our own takes on stuff that inappropriateness plus the fall apart in the last bit of this episode makes past and present our number 11 episode on the season i don't disagree.
[35:01]Yeah this was wow yeah i'm i'm sorry past and present i gotta tell you though jeff this was an episode i was like oh my gosh we got to do this episode yeah uh yeah yeah that's okay we can leave it there uh so a thing a thing i forgot to do when we didn't do the the normal handoff but we are tracking a number of things as our watches target none of those things happen in this episode none of them happen so they'll all stay right where they are and we'll give you guys those numbers next time there's an update for it exactly all right jeff well that is going to do it for past and present thank the lord uh next time we are watching uh jeff just get ready it's a two-parter oh well really get ready for an extra long episode from us here because we decided we're doing these together uh two-parter it's two episodes joel and our memories followed by the devil you know that is clearly a part one part two joel and our memories the devil you know the title at least one of the two titles should give you some sort of a clue as to where we might be going i've also told you it's a two-parter big marquee episode going into the season break all that sort of stuff so jeff uh you you like to make your guesses about what you think it might be uh what you got for us so joel and our memories is going to be it's going to be taking us through joel and our.
[36:21]Memories right like uh but here's the stuff that happens we're going to get it's going to be a A bunch of flashback scenes are in the past with Sam in the place of Jolinar. We'll have Martuf is going to be in the episode. We'll probably get a lot of their relationship and things like that. It's going to culminate the devil you know. Maybe the Tok'ra aren't going to be the big heroes that we've thought them to be. And through those memories, and we're not just living those memories for us to watch them. This is going to be Sam somehow experiencing these memories. And she's going to come out of it and be like, whoa, these guys aren't so great. Maybe we'll even see Jacob. He'll come back and there'll be a little tension and he'll be like, yeah, actually, you're right. We are doing this other stuff also and not so good. And then SGC's, yeah, we're horrible genociders, just like the gold. Also, maybe we're not so bad. And so it's going to be Sam bringing that stuff up. And then I think Jacob and Hammond having some conversations around like, what does this mean for our relationship? Conflict boom boom boom and at the end tokra and sgc will remain allied.
[37:28]Jeff, I can tell you, you are a good guesser. You can't tell me that you do. I will tell you you're a good guesser. Yeah. [38:45]Music. I was expecting it. I was bracing myself for it. And then you went a different direction. I was like, oh, he's not. Oh, no, there it is. Okay. Yeah, he's totally doing it. Oh, my God.
[38:53]For crying out loud. Thank you.
