Sacred Me Time

Jim Covault
Jim:

Hello, and welcome to this episode of Decide on Joy, a podcast coming to you from Harmony Spiritual Center in Fort Worth, Texas. My name is Jim Kovalt.

Pjae:

My name is Rev. Dr. P. J. Stanley. Welcome, and thank you for being here.

Jim:

And the title of today's episode is Sacred Me Time. This is a topic that P. J. introduced here so what, what is Me Time, Sacred Me Time? Obviously, Me Time is not necessarily sacred, it could be, you know. Exactly, which

Pjae:

is why I put the sacred in front of it, because there is Me Time, which it just has to do with, you know, Me Time is time that you have for yourself. Exactly, exactly, but this is Sacred Me Time. And the reason why I call it that is because it is sacred to me, it's like a covenant. So, let me just back up a little bit and say, That how we think of that which is higher than or greater than ourselves is we think of it as the divine. There's so many names for it. It doesn't matter what you call it. It's just your higher self. And I think we, to purposefully, purposefully, regularly connect with yourself. Your higher self which makes it easier than to connect on the fly. I believe that, you know, we want to be in touch with that high self, that divine self all the time on a regular basis. So sitting there and intentionally knowing what that sounds like to you, what that voice is, if it is a voice, it could be a picture. People see or hear or feel the divine in so many ways. So to purposely connect helps you to understand what that looks like or feels like for you. When you hear. A word from on high. And so I think it's important that you take the time to know what that's like for you. So that's what it means.

Jim:

So how is that different from say. What most people would think of as meditation Or is it different it

Pjae:

it it could be not everybody Because meditation has a lot of connotations on it and some people think that they can't meditate For me meditation is a word that has a broad range of ways in which that you can meditate but to me meditation is just taking your mind off of The the things I got to do the to do list all the anxiety in your head And allowing something something To come from within some people actually meditate in the shower some people meditate while they're doing dishes because it's just it's a It's a non thinking situation. It's a it's an emote. It's a it's emoting thing It's a feeling thing that you do some people do when they're gardening So I don't talk about meditate and that is a meditation actually it can be a meditation in that way so it, it just depends on what you call meditation. But for me, any time that you connect with your higher self, that your mind gets quiet from all the busyness and you can hear from the inner you, that's a meditation, however you do it. That's a meditation. And so yeah, sacred time could actually be your meditation time. But when I say sacred time, I mean that you intentionally do it. That it's not just whenever you garden once a month or, or whatever. It's intentional for, that's, that's why I call it that.

Jim:

Why, why do you want to do this?

Pjae:

Yeah, I just, I feel like there's so much that, that goes on. We're, we're, we're, we're, we have wonderful brains and wonderful minds and we can think up a lot of things, you know, but there is a, there's a place in you that knows without knowing what the truth is for you. That knows without knowing, you don't have to worry about something. Like you might be waiting for something to happen. You might need some money for something. Any number of things. You have no idea where it's going to come from. You can't think it up. You can't figure it out or think it up because you've worked all the hours you can. You've done all the things you can do to try to get some money to come in. And yet there is something in you that, that is abundant. that is divine, that is abundant, that's prosperous and that will just say, don't worry about it, it'll show up, and you know that's the truth. So being able to get to a truth that isn't a logic truth. It's a spiritual truth. That is, to me, the importance of knowing and hearing from that voice. And the more you do it, and the more you recognize it knows a truth beyond a logic truth, beyond a truth you're supposed to know the more you're going to want to do it. The more you're going to want to be in touch with that knowing within you and live from that place.

Jim:

Yeah, that certainly makes sense. Yeah. So is this something that Is it helpful to like schedule this at a regular time or

Pjae:

I do And everybody is different. So i'll just tell you what I do because I know I get busy And I do it at a time when I can't say i'm I got to get up and do something So it's always about four or five o'clock in the morning I'm, not going to be doing anything at four or five o'clock in the morning. There's no place I need to be But I wake up I'm awake. So rather than jump out of bed, I just stay there. I put on some music, some very soft, calming music, some floaty music, and just start asking questions. That's how you start talking. You know, hey, how you doing? Like I'm talking to you, like I'm talking to a friend. And I'll say something like, you know, I'm kind of worried about, I'm kind of anxious about something. And it'll say, I know you are. Of course it knows, because it's my higher self but it's very soothing to know that it's there and that it has answers I don't have. And it's a peaceful place, and I can just relax from what my mind is telling me and know there's more for me. So I schedule, I, I won't go a day without it. Number one, there's so many things that can bother you throughout a day. I mean, can you imagine? First of all, just driving over here, you know what I mean? Could have been so many things that that would, that, that would disrupt you, let alone coworkers meeting with people in a market, trying to buy stuff, just the busyness of the day. And so to have, so I, so I want to connect with this every day and remind myself it's available. And even when I know. It's available. I still sometimes can't stop myself from acting crazy It's a human thing, but I know it's trying to tell me knock it off And I'm saying go away. I want to act crazy right now. So it's your choice.

Jim:

So Can you aside from you know, the scheduled? Meet up. Yeah meet up period can you access that that? sacred me time

Pjae:

Yeah And I said, I'm glad you asked that because that's actually the point of it The point of meeting regularly is that you can meet up with it irregularly when you needed some place Well, you're not in bed at four o'clock in the morning and you're out somewhere and you're about to get into an argument someone I would tell you a story but it's too embarrassing for me to even tell it because because it was just I know wasn't that Intriguing it was it was crazy and the whole time that I was doing it You The voice was saying, stop it, knock it off. This isn't going to get you anywhere. And I could not stop because I was just so upset. I could not stop. And I actually had to have, I've got sacred girlfriends that that I can tell my horrible stories to, and they, and they just, you know, PJ, in fact, one of them said, put your foot down and stop kicking yourself. It's all right. You're a human being, you know? So But I knew as I was doing it, that, that my higher self was, was trying so hard to tell me, and it was telling me, I just refuse to listen. So it's on, it's up to you. It's telling you what to do, but it's not going to hit you over the head with a bat. It's just going to quietly say, knock this off. This isn't going to help you knock it off. And you can, it's your choice to listen or not, but then you see the ramifications of what, what happens when you do listen and what happens when you don't. And so so then it just behooves you you can see the great things that happen and occur and show up in your life when you do when you just let go of the human side the need to To be vengeful or the need to be upset at someone or yourself or any number of things you you'll see that you'll see how it really helps you if you if you listen, but you're not you don't have to You don't have to it's a choice

Jim:

You know it occurs to me how How to If, and sometimes things like, someone says, okay, you need to schedule a time every day to, to do this thing, and then it becomes a duty. Is there a way you can get yourself to look forward to it, rather than saying, oh, I have to do this now? Exactly,

Pjae:

because I, and I'm, I'm so glad you said that. The way that it started for me, Was because, I needed to, I needed to prove a thing to me about God. I needed to know, or the divine in me, I needed to know Cause there's a, there's a, there's a, I'm not a, I'm not a a Bible scholar, but there's a, there's a, Bible verse that talks about tithing and it says something about, you know, go ahead and tithe and see if I won't pour out blessings from heaven. And so I thought, okay, let me just see if you actually do answer prayer. So here's what I'm going to do. So I guess got into covenant and said, I would meet with you every single day. And I will do what you're telling me to do as I sit here and here's what I want. And so I wanted to do something. I wanted to I wanted to see if the gift that I had, which I'm, I'm a singer, if the gift that I had would actually be something that I could make a living at, not just as a hobby. And so that's the reason why I did it. So yes, at the beginning, it was, God, I sit down here. But it was something I wanted to, to, to find out. It was really an experiment for me. It was an experiment. So, yeah, it can until it's not. You right? It's like everything else. It's hard, or it's a, it's a job until it's not.

Jim:

Yeah. Yeah. And, and maybe if it persists in being a job you need to rethink how you're doing that.

Pjae:

All of these terms that you're setting up are yours to do and to say. And you could even ask Spirit, you can even say to Spirit, to Divine actually I'll call it George, you can even say, this isn't working for me, what's a better way, how can we meet up Some girlfriends, I have, you know, I have, I've talked to a lot of people who, who meditate in different ways. I mentioned the gardening. I have friends who love to be outside and that's, they feel very close to divine out there. So they're just out there working in the, in the dirt and it really feels good to them. Some people love walking, just walking, just walking and they meet up with spirit. So it's really whatever brings you joy normally. See if you can meet up with spirit there.

Jim:

Right.

Pjae:

Yeah, that's what I would say if you're, if you're starting off.

Jim:

Yeah. Yeah, and I think, you know, that's one thing that does maybe separate it from maybe the, at least some concepts of meditation, which are not about connecting with spirit. Yes. Non thinking.

Pjae:

Correct. Correct. Right. Right.

Jim:

So it is a kind of different thing.

Pjae:

It is. It is. And so, yeah, for me, this is, yeah, it's different from meditation in that meditation is kind of quieting and calming your nerves, just very calming and there's nothing wrong with that. It's actually very good. But I'm talking about sacred time where you actually meet up with the divine, purposefully. Yeah. And I, the, I can't even begin to tell you the benefit to you for doing it. But if you try it, you'll, you'll start to see. And you do it, and it doesn't take long for you to see. It might take long for you to, a little bit longer for you to get in the habit of it. But it won't take long for you to see the value of it. The value of it.

Jim:

PJ's sister's calling her. I'm sure.

Pjae:

Exactly. She has a knack for calling me. Right when I'm in the middle of something.

Jim:

I don't even know if you can hear that. Hopefully not. Her phone was carrying on. We're probably at a good stopping place. I think that's what he was saying. I think the universe is

Pjae:

saying we're done.

Jim:

So you can call your sister back and we will see you or hear you, or you will hear us next time and thanks for being here and we'll see you then.

Pjae:

All right.
