Decide On Joy

Awakeing Inner Peace

Jim Covault
Jim:

Hello, and welcome to this episode of Decide on Joy, a podcast coming to you from Harmony Spiritual Center in Fort Worth, Texas. My name is Jim Kova,

Pjae:

and my name is Reverend Dr. PJ Stanley. And thank you so much for being here with us today

Jim:

on our topic today is the Power of Inner Peace and how we awaken it. So what, what exactly are we talking about when we say inner peace? I mean, we've,

Pjae:

we

Jim:

probably, everyone thinks they know, but,

Pjae:

but let's just say, what are we all talk? What, what are you and I talking about today? Yeah. And so we're not just talking about the absence of, of something. It's not the absence of chaos or, you know, the absence of, of not being, not being able to be still, but it's actually yourself being aligned with that divine spirit. That's just a word that I use. You can use whatever word you want. But there's a, there's a place in all of us that we know this peaceful place. And so whatever you call that place, and I just call it the divine when you are aligned with that meaning that you, you know, it's with you, you know that at any time you can call on it. I actually regularly in the morning before I get out of bed, and I said this many times, I have a prayer and a meditation time, and I thank Spirit for being the peace, my anchor to the truth. The peace that walks with me everywhere I go. So when anything feels like it's gonna disrupt, I know that peaceful place is in me and I can go to it at any point, and no matter what's going on outside of me, I can bring myself to a peaceful place. So it's, you know, it's, it's, it's you being aligned purposely being aligned with that inner, inner guidance within you that is peaceful, right? Yeah.

Jim:

And, and part of this. Episode title is The Power of Inner Peace. Yes. The power, yes is,

Pjae:

and I think the, the power has to do with, were you finished with your question? Yeah. I don't wanna you, that was power. Do, do. There you go. It's powerful because for me it just means that no one can take you have you go outside yourself, no one can have you behaving outside yourself. So I don't like those words when people say stuff like, well, they made me, you know, that behavior made me, no, no, no, that's not. What's happening you are allowing it because you don't actually have this place. You haven't decided to have this anchoring place that no one can take you outside of who you want to be and how you want to show up. And when they do, because you've just forgotten momentarily what, what the truth is about yourself. You can always come back to the truth. You can always come back to that piece. So it's very powerful in that you get to take control of your life all the time. All the time. For me, that's the power.

Jim:

Yeah. And and to to not be controlled by what's going on. Exactly.'cause a

Pjae:

lot of people wanna do that. A lot of people want to manipulate you and get you to be upset or angry and try to push your buttons because that's their place of what they think is strength. But it, it's not. And I would, I simply wouldn't allow someone else to dictate what my life's gonna be like. Yeah. And, and having this peace within me allows me to do that and to be that

Jim:

and, and. According to the notes here anyway, that allows you to be a healing presence for others. It

Pjae:

does. It really does. There's a couple of things that, that I'm noted for that people come to me for, and one is the, the, the fun. Just, I'm just, I, I like to have fun. I like to laugh and play, and I don't take myself very seriously. I don't take life that seriously because it, it is serious, but it isn't. And so on that side, so there, I know there are things that people come to me for, and one of the things is, is that I am a peaceful person. When you, and it doesn't seem like it because I do get loud and, and, and have fun and all that, but in my heart, who I am and who I know you to be, I'm at peace with it. And so I can call that up at any time and I know who you are. So when you are, and there are a lot of people who, who come because to me and talk with me because. They're upset about something. Something's not going right in their life. They're having an argument with somebody or whatever it is. And I can simply just peek, speak truth to them in a peaceful way. And they're coming, I'm bringing my hands down, like up and down. But they come down to a peaceful place. Just, just, just by talking.'cause I'm gonna, I'm gonna always take them to the truth. F or try to get them there. They can go. If they don't, you know, if they don't want to go, they don't want to go. Yeah. But if they really want to calm and understand what's happening, I can bring them, help them get to a peaceful place, a truthful place.

Jim:

And if, if you're not there to help. Yeah. How, how, how do you get to that interface? Right? How do you wake it up?

Pjae:

And this is a, it feels like, I feel like a teacher or you know, well, I am a teacher. What am I saying? It's, it's, but the thing is, is that it's practice, practice, practice. You can't not claim that, claim that you want peace, that you, the things that you want and then not work on it. They don't, it's not a magic wand. I like, and we all, everybody knows that, and yet we still want magic wand kind of things to happen. Well, yeah. You know, so. But if you, if you, whatever you want, you know, that you could pretty much have, but you do have to work on it and claim it. And by claiming it, I mean, state this, I am,'cause the power of, I am, we've talked about this in other programs, I am peaceful. And then go about being peaceful. Go about, whenever you find yourself not being peaceful, call it back in. So you have to clock it, you have to watch it. You know, and that's, and so that's just the work there. There's nothing that we want to have that's worth having that doesn't take work. And this is one of them. You can have it if you wanna work on it. And,

Jim:

and so there are specific practices that you could do. I mean, there's, there

Pjae:

are, yeah.

Jim:

Obviously sort of meditation things,

Pjae:

meditation's always the, the, the number one thing we come to. But you're not always in a place to meditate if you're in the middle of Walmart. And somebody's throwing eggs or whatever, you know, whatever they do. Does that happen? Yeah, just YouTube and watching craziness, you know, just crazy. People just go in the refrigerator. I saw one where the lady went into the freezer'cause somebody got in front of her in line and went back to the freezer, got a frozen thing and knocked the person upside the head. Oh. I think that that was a play. I mean, I think they made that up probably, but I don't doubt that that probably happened at one point or another. But the point is, back to our question, if you're someplace. In the middle of something and you can't you don't, you don't have time to meditate. What you can do is take a deep breath. We've heard this our whole lives. Take a breath. Take a breath. But what we don't really know is the power of that, what it actually does to your body. Just taking a breath. It calms you down. It's, there's something about the breath going through the nerves, going through the cy, the, the blood. It just calms you down. So just take a deep breath and you take a deep breath. I'm, I'm gonna take these two things in through the nose, which most people wanna do it through their mouth'cause you can take a lot of breath in at that time. But the calming thing is in through the nose. So take a deep breath in through your nose and then blow it out through your mouth. Do that a couple of times and you will be calm. You will, it'll bring you on down and then you can actually think about what's the next step you want to do? Do you wanna hit that person with a bag of frozen fruit? Or

Jim:

you can do it calmly. You can do

Pjae:

it calmly if you're gonna continue to do it, calm about it. So this is

Jim:

coming from a peaceful place, but smack boom,

Pjae:

you have gone too much. You are being the most,

Jim:

and so,

Pjae:

yeah, so there's more. It's one of my biggest things that I love to talk about. And the, the breath is one. The other thing is just being grateful. Even though we may be in a place where things aren't quite happening the way we'd like and sometimes I just take time. It takes learning. It takes a number of things. I'm grateful that I'm at the place that I wanna be. It may not be running exactly like I want, but I am where I am because I want to be there. So there's a lot to be grateful for. The, the thing that I wake up in the morning and I'm grateful for is that I woke up in the morning.'cause I don't have to. You don't have to. So. The moment your eyes pop open, I'm, I'm grateful that they popped open. Yeah. And I have another opportunity to live the life I want to live. And this is what we're about, is about living a life on purpose. You know, what is the life that you want to live? And we actually can put our hands on our life and say what we want it to look like. And that's what this is about. So I don't end up at the end of my life saying, oh man, I, I wish I had done this. I wish I had done that. Yeah, I'm gonna run out of time, but all the time I have, I would like to be doing the things that I want to do. And that I, that I am the person that I say I am. What else is there after, at, at the end of the day? What else is there?

Jim:

And yes. Yeah, that was just summing up there. I was just reading a note. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah,

Pjae:

there, there's another, the other note that's there is just about aligning with truth. And that's kind of a thing that we say in news art, but aligning with truth is really the truth is. Spirit is in charge. Spirit is the most powerful thing we have one. One of the things that I say is God is Spirit, is George, is whatever you call that which is greater than yourself. God is source, substance and supply, meaning ev, that's everything. There is the source of all the supply, of all the substance, of all things. So if God is sourced. Substance and supply, then what else will you need? And when you remember that, that's the truth I'm talking about remembering. So no one outside yourself that'd like to say, I'm gonna fire you. Fire me. How many jobs are there out there? A whole bunch. And I can get another one because, and, and something better. Because I feel like if I get fired from a job that's just spirit. Say, get outta here. Apparently you won't leave on your own. Get out so I can give you something better. So, you know, this is how I, I always look at it. I always think that whatever's happening for me is for my good. Hmm. What if you think, what if you think in that way? Whatever's happening for me is for my good. So I'm looking for the good. You can look for the good'cause it's there. That's the truth. Yeah.

Jim:

Okay. We can end there for today. Yeah. And thanks for being here, and we will see you next time. Okay.
