This week is a special one — my dad, Pastor Jeremiah Waldrop, took over the podcast 🎙️
He brings a powerful word on what it really means to be a giant slayer — facing and overcoming the giants that try to take you out: sin, shame, fear, guilt, and everything in between.
This episode is a reminder that you don’t have to live weighed down or defeated. Through God’s strength, those giants can fall.
If you’ve been feeling stuck or battling something heavy, this one is for you.
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Honey and Grace podcast. I'm your host, Veronica Waldrup, and I pray that we can taste and see a little bit of God's goodness through today's episode together. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_01Hey everybody, I'm Pastor Jeremiah. I'm filling in for Veronica today. She's just a tad under the weather, but I'm gonna I'm gonna fill in and I'm gonna do my best. Uh the Honey and Grace podcast, it is a it is a place where faith comes alive, hope is restored, and Jesus is lifted high. And I want to say thank you so much for listening today on this awesome blessed Tuesday. I pray you're having a blessed, blessed Tuesday. And I know that God is gonna do something great uh in your lives today. And I want to just share a passage from the word of the Lord from a message that I had preached. I talked about giant slayers. Uh and I talked about uh in 1 Samuel chapter number 17. This is the story of David facing Goliath in verse number 45. The word of God says, Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. Verse 46, this day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand, and I will smite thee and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day, unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in heaven. He said, I don't I don't have everything together, but I'm coming to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. That's what I love about this verse. This is awesome. Uh I know we're all facing giants, every one of us in here, but not only, you know, not just physical giants, some kinds, sometimes they're psychological. Uh giants fear, sin, addiction, doubt, depression, pressure, uh, opposition. Uh the tragedy is not that giants exist. The tragedy is that too many people run from them instead of slaying them. But God is still raising up giant slayers. And I believe right now, as you're listening, I believe that you're a giant slayer and God is going to use you to slay the giants that are haunting you in your life. Giants will show up in our life. We know that Goliath didn't ask, he didn't ask permission, he just showed up. He showed up daily. He mocked God's people, he and he intimidated an entire army. Uh the Bible says that he showed up twice a day for 40 days. That's 80 times. Uh 80 times of intimidation, 80 moments of fear, uh, 80 opportunities to quit. This wasn't a one-time battle, but it was a mental war. Because I don't know if you realize or not, but the mind is a battlefield. Uh, some giants, and you know, the next thing is some giants don't leave after one prayer. Some giants come back in the morning, they come back again at night. You beat it Sunday, it's back Monday. You you pray it through, it whispers again. If it keeps showing up, it's because it's trying to wear you down. Does that sound familiar? Doubt, unbelief, uh, depression, discouragement, all these things. Uh, giants use, uh they use their voice before their weapons. Goliath didn't start with a sword, he started with words. He said, Send me a man. I defy the armies of Israel. Before the battle was physical, it was psychological. Uh, giants still talk to us today, right now. You'll never change, you'll always be stuck. You're too far gone. God can't use you. Does this sound familiar to anybody besides me? That's not just thoughts, that's warfare. The enemy wants to defeat your mind before you ever step on the battlefield because uh he wants to, he wants to attack us, he wants to tear us down, he wants to destroy us. Uh, and then, you know, but I'm here to tell you, I believe that God has chosen us for such a time as this. God has a plan, God has a purpose, and God is going to deliver every giant to us. But the Bible says he showed up, you know, fear will show up, temptation will show up, battles will show up. Even in the life of David, there was a giant waiting. If you're breathing right now, you will face giants. It's just part of living. We all have giants that we face. You say, preacher, what is a giant? It's whatever's blocking you or stopping you from reaching your full God potential. Because God, he wants to use us for his glory. Most people talk about giants, but few face them. Uh Israel's army saw the giant, talked about the giant, but they ran from the giant. But the Bible says that David ran toward the giant. There's always a difference between spectators and slayers. Spectators will say it's too big. I can't handle this. Maybe later. But slayers say, God is bigger. I'm ready to tell you that God is bigger than any problem you face right now. It doesn't matter how dark the stormy is, God is bigger. It doesn't matter what the doctor said, God is bigger. It doesn't matter what's going on, God is bigger. Uh in slayers, they say this ends today. I was built for this battle. I was built for this, for such a time as this. I was built for this moment and this time right now. But I want to let you know that giant slayers, you can't be weak and fragile and want to play games with the devil. You got to say, I want, I'm ready to kill this thing that is haunting me. Some of you listening right now, there's, there's, there's giants that you were dealing with last year at this time that is still hanging around even to this day. But I'm here to tell you that God is going to give you the power. He's going to give you, He's going to give you the courage to slay that giant in your life. I don't know about you, but I want to tear down every giant in my life that would stop or block me from reaching my full potential in Jesus Christ. The Bible says that David knocked him down. You know the story. He knocked him down. He knocked Goliath down with a stone. Then the Bible says that he sealed the deal. This is what I love right here. He sealed the deal. Because a lot of us, we knock those giants down. You know, we go to church and we get a real good touch and we feel better. And then come Tuesday, Wednesday, that giant has slipped right back in our lives. But the Bible says that David sealed the deal. Somebody listening right now, you need to seal the deal with the devil. Slay that giant once and for all. I mean, completely wipe him out. I always wondered why I had to, you know, when he when Goliath, because I was studying in the Word of the Lord the other day in my Bible and had a picture of a little guy and he was holding up a head, and I always thought, why did it have to turn bloody? Why did it have to get dirty? Why did it have to get nasty? Because I'm here to tell you, in order, it's gonna take, it's gonna, in order for you to slay that giant in your life, it's gonna, it's, you, it's gonna get dirty. It's gonna get nasty. I'm here to tell you, you just don't tell lust to go away. You just don't uh say abracadabra and thoughts of suicide leave. It don't happen that way. It's gonna take somebody to pray it through. You're gonna have to get down, you're gonna have to get down dirty in order to get that giant gone in your life. You don't just tell drug addiction, alcohol, you know, alcohol addiction to go away, it don't happen that way. But if you'll pray, if you'll say, I refuse to take no for answer, I want to see God move. I refuse to live another day with suicidal thoughts. I refuse to deal with depression any longer. I'm ready for God. I need God's help to defeat the giants in my life. And I was the other day, I was telling the church, you know, I was talking about generational curses, because you know, a lot of generational curses, they hang around because people are too scared to face them. And they're too scared to, you know, to go after those generational curses. I'm ready to tell you, we can leave those giants right now, just leave, play around them if we want to, and then the next generation will have to deal with those giants because every generation has a brand new giant they have to face. So we can just sit back and just let generational curses go from one generation to the next generation to the next generation. But I believe that God will give us the power to slay the giants that our kids and our grandkids won't have to deal with. They'll have to deal with devils, but it'll be different. It'll be on a total different scale because every generation, they all have their own giants. But the Bible says, you know, the Bible says that David's brothers, they were hiding in the tent. They were scared. And even Saul, he was hiding in the tent because he was just going to let somebody else handle it. Let somebody else face this giant. But I'm here to tell you that it's up to us to take a stand and say, I'm tired of dealing with this giant in my life because God has chosen you for such a time as this. Giant slayers know who they are. Before David ever fought glass, he knew his identity. He was a shepherd anointed by God, chosen for a purpose, while others just saw a boy. God saw a warrior. The problem today is a lot of us we forget who we are in Jesus. You're chosen, you're called, you're equipped. David didn't say, I hope I can win. He said, The Lord will deliver you into my hands. I'm here to tell you that God will give us the power to face every giant. But I'm here to tell you, you don't fight with natural weapons. Saul tried to put armor on David, but it didn't fit. David refused it. Instead, he took a sling, five smooth stones, and faith in God. I'm here to tell you, you it's all about the name of Jesus, because there is power in the name of Jesus. David, he said, I, you know, I don't come with you, I don't come to you with all of this great equipment, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. I'm here to tell you that there is power in the name of Jesus. I'm ready to tell you there is power in the name, the only saving name, the name of Jesus Christ. Giant slayers run toward the battle. The Bible says that David, that he didn't hesitate, he didn't wait, he didn't negotiate. Too many people we delay our breakthrough because we delay our obedience. Your giant won't fall until you confront it. You've got to confront that devil in your life that is still in your joy and still in your peace, and keeping you up at night, making you worry, and you're getting sick and all kinds of things. The devil, he wants to kill, steal, and destroy. But the Bible says that you can be one, one stone can change everything. It only took one stone, one moment, one act of faith, and the giant failed. What looked impossible collapsed instantly. Your victory may be one prayer away, one step of faith away. You may be one service away from God helping you to completely wipe out that giant that has been bothering you. You may be one decision away. I'm here to tell you that God is gonna give us the power. He's gonna give us the power to slay those giants in our lives. How long are you gonna play with anxiety? How long are you gonna play with doubt? How long are you gonna play with pornography? How long are you gonna play with fornication? How long are you gonna play with alcohol or drug addiction? I'm here to tell you, how long are you gonna play with depression? Because I'm here to tell you that if you play with depression too long, then that's when you're gonna start having suicidal thoughts. And that giant will win against you. That's the reason you have to slay that giant, and you got to get that giant under your feet in the name of Jesus. Verse 54 says, after David had already faced Goliath, verse 54 says, David put his armor in the tent, but he kept the head and brought it to Jerusalem. And then the Bible says then again in verse 57, when David met Saul for the first time, he was still carrying that head of Goliath. Because you know what he was saying? I'm never gonna have to face this giant any longer. I may face other battles in my life, but I won't have to face Goliath anymore because God has given me the victory over him. And I'm ready to tell you that God is gonna give you the victory over those giants that are haunting you, that are, that are driving you out of your mind. God is gonna, he's gonna raise up a standard and he's gonna help you, and he's gonna guide you if you'll just step out on the battlefield and say, God, I need your help. We sing a song at our church. I'm dancing on a grave that I once lived in. I love this song because you know what we're saying? We're saying, you know what? I used to live in a grave of fear. I used to live in a grave of depression, but now God has given me the power over that devil, over that giant in my life. I used to be bound by lust. I used to be bound by all of these things, but God has given me the power. He's given me the purpose. I'm ready to tell you, God is going to give you the strength to overcome that giant that you're facing right now. If you'll just get a little bit of boldness, because I'm ready to tell you that courage is contagious. Because whenever one stepped out of the tent, there were many others started to step out. When you defeat your giant, others get faith. Others get boldness, others start fighting. You could be the person that starts revival in your church. You could, God could use you to bring victory to your community. God could use you to be a prayer warrior, to be a soul winner. Your victory isn't just for you, it's for everyone watching. I'm here to tell you, there is a giant in front of you, but there is a God on the inside of you that is bigger than any giant that you're facing. Stop measuring the giant against yourself, but start measuring the giant against your God. And I'm here to tell you, your God is bigger than any giant. It doesn't matter what you're facing right now, God is bigger, and He is able to give you the victory over every problem, over every situation. You need to say in your mind right now, on this Tuesday, today is the day giants fall. Fear is going to fall. Addiction falls today, sin falls today, doubt falls today. Don't don't want you to, you know, don't live the rest of your life bound by these things, these giants, but run to God, run to the altar. And just like David ran to Goliath and say, This giant is coming down in the name of Jesus. Because God, He can give you the strength to tear down that giant that is haunting you, that is, that is, that is, that is, you know, you know, my a lot of us we say, my giant is loud, but my God is louder. This isn't just a battle, but it is a setup for my breakthrough. I'm not intimidated, but I'm activated. I want to activate somebody right now on this Tuesday that God is going to give you the power to slay that giant in your life. You do not have to live your life in fear. You do not have to live your life in pain and hurt and bitterness and anger and all of these sins that so easily beset us. But I'm here to tell you if God allowed it, he already equipped you for it because he has a plan, he has a purpose. And that giant is going to come down in the name of Jesus. Don't be shocked by the giant in front of you, but be encouraged. Because if a giant is in your valley, that means a victory is in the future. Hallelujah. There is a victory in your future. We're all facing giants, but God is going to give you the power and he's going to give you the strength and the courage to face every giant that you're facing in your life right now. And God is going to do a miracle in your life. And I pray that you have a wonderfully blessed rest of this Tuesday. Thank you so much for listening. And God is going to do something great. He's going to do something great this week in your life. If you'll just say, Lord, help me with these giants. I'm ready to tell you, the greatest way to fight a giant in your life is through prayer and through fasting and giving your life to Jesus and let God begin to work in your heart. Because I'm ready to tell you, there is a giant slayer inside of you right now. God, he created you for this time right now. There is a purpose, there is a plan. You're going to kill those generational curses in the name of Jesus. You can get that generational curse of poverty. You can tear that down through the power of the Holy Ghost and through giving to the kingdom. I'm ready to tell you, God, He's going to do great, great things in your life. If you'll just say, God, help me with these giants. Because God is going to give you the power. God has a purpose. God has a plan. You're not a waste. You're not an accident. You're not a mistake. But God loves you and He has a plan. And God is going to do something great in your life. And I want to say once again, thank you so much for listening. And thank you for listening to me as I as I give you these few moments of what the Lord laid on my heart for you today. And I believe that you're going to be a giant slayer in the name of Jesus. God bless you in the name of Jesus.
