We're kicking off the school year with a conversation with Chase Waldrop about what it looks like to follow God while you’re young.
We’re talking P7, AYC trips, outreach, finding your place in ministry, and what it means to answer the call of God at a young age. Chase shares about his experiences serving, reaching people, and learning that you don’t have to wait until you’re older to be used by God.
Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Honey and Grace podcast. I'm so excited that you are listening today, and it has been a very long time coming. So it has been a very long time. I have taken a little bit of a break from the podcast this summer, but I'm excited that we are back. And so today I do have a special guest with me. Funny story, we actually recorded this whole podcast about two or three weeks ago.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01And it did not record fully. I did not delete it. It didn't record. It recorded seven minutes of our conversation. So here we are again doing this round two because I'm so excited to have my amazing cousin on the podcast. Chase. Welcome, Chase.
unknownThank you.
SPEAKER_01So hey. Shut up. I'm not putting that in there. Chase, um, would you like to introduce yourself to the listeners?
SPEAKER_03Hello, dear friends. Lucky. Hi, my name is Chase Waldrop, as you know, she said, or she said my name is Chase. Cut that. Hi, my name is Chase Waldrop, as she said before. And also, our last name is Waldrop, not Wald Waldrip, as she has um profoundly exclaimed incorrectly that our last name is pronounced Waldrip. Not Waldrop. It's Waldrop. It's Waldrop. Okay, Chase. But yeah, my name is Chase. I'm her cousin. And uh ministry-wise, I do I'm in several different ministries. I'm in, I mean and along with along with uh a few other of my friends at my school, we have a P7 club. Um I go on AYC trips, and then at my local church, I I teach, I preach, I sing, I do lyrics, I do multimedia. Um I help a Sunday school class, assistant, assistant Sunday school teacher. I do that, I do that, I do do that. Um There's something else, I'm forgetting something. Oh, and I'm also on the creative and social media team. So yeah, I do a lot. Pretty much just anything that needs to be done. I'm there, I'm willing, I'll do it.
SPEAKER_01Incredible. We love to hear that. Okay, Chase. So I have known you all my life. And recently you posted a clip of your personal testimony on your page and your new ministry page. What is it called?
SPEAKER_03Chase the Calling.
SPEAKER_01Go follow on Instagram, Chase the Calling. He is pursuing what he feels that the Lord has called him to do. So I'm proud of you, Chase.
SPEAKER_03I can go into that a little bit. Alright, let's do it. So I've been feeling for some time now, like kind of like wanting or feeling kind of pulled or tugged toward doing like online like short sermons, Bible study sermonets, stuff like that. Because I mean, I like have a semi-sense for social media, and this is a tool that like the apostles didn't have, and like I don't want to get to heaven and they'd be like, hey, how did you use this internet thing that we didn't have for your ministry? And I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna be in I don't wanna say uh I didn't use it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And I mean Paul says, you know, going to all the nations and preach the gospel. So I just feel like that's kind of one of my outlets or one of my tools that I can use, and I plan on doing small Bible studies sermonettes, which I haven't done anything yet at the time of recording. I need to. I need to hurry up. I made like three posts, and one of them had been from Veronica that she just collaborated on. But yeah, it's called Chase the Calling. Wanted to do kind of a spin on my name, you know, since Chase the the Calling.
SPEAKER_01So go follow him. You also might know him as Chase Approved in the Mississippi District or other places too. Yes. So if you have a sticker, shout out to you. Alright, Chase. Tell us a little bit about your personal testimony and what the Lord has done in your life and how it can encourage someone today.
SPEAKER_03So I had that that same uh well, I grew up in church, I don't really have a testimony. I had that mindset for the majority of my life. Like, I don't have one of those big testimonies. Like, I was like, I don't, I don't, I feel like I don't can't really do much because I mean I just I just grew up in church and like I didn't have one of those testimonies of like, oh, I was an addict and I was, you know, so and so far from so and so. But then the Lord just spoke to me in a dream, and I turned from there like I didn't I don't have one of those testimonies. I and I really wish I did. But then in October, about in October of 2024, I was one of three young people that were asked to preach that youth Sunday. Message was called Faith Towers, and it was about three different stories and how like kind of demonstrated faith. There was the woman uh that touched the hem of Jesus' garment, there was the story of Peter going out onto the water, you know, like Jesus appeared on the water and was like coming to be a disciple and stuff like that. And then the story of Gideon, which I love that story, that's probably one of my favorite stories out of all the stories in the Bible. And like through that sermon, I felt God was speaking through me, and I the the and the Holy Ghost moved in the church, and after that, I thought that my faith was gonna be stronger than ever before in my walk. But then the opposite happened. Right after preaching, I entered in one of the hardest seasons of my life. I questioned everything, and how I am is I am an analytical thinker, I think more than I feel, if that kind of makes sense. And I'll always see like these like arguments against Christianity, and I always try to like mentally debate them in case someone comes up to me saying them. And I'll try to think of questions like atheists could ask me, like before they ask them, if that makes sense. And then I was kind of it started more, it became less me making up questions for me to answer and more questions I needed answers for. Because I started making more questions than I had answers to. And then eventually I started wondering if God was real and did he actually do those things in my life. And I and ultimately I was like, is this even real? Is God even real? And it wasn't just for like one bad day, it was it was for a whole season, it was it was for months. And even though I had doubts, I refused to walk away. I learned something important. Doubt is not the same as unbelief. I chose to keep praying, to keep seeing God, and to keep believing that He would bring me through. And one of my favorite artists, Ty Trivet, is a song, I Want It All Back. And there's a part of the song, and it says, Devil, if you only knew where I was gonna be after the storm, you wouldn't have even bothered me. And I could not stop singing those words mentally. Like it was, it was it was my song essentially for those few months. And I kept telling myself, if I can just get through this, I'll be stronger. My faith will be stronger if I can just get through this. And I I come from a place of like remembering a lot of stuff, thus making me hold a lot of grudges. And I've that's that's been part of my testimony too. I come from a place of like remembering a lot and thus being very susceptible to holding a grudge. Being very susceptible to holding a grudge. And kind of along with that song, I was I started thinking, if I want to hold a grudge against someone, it needs to be the devil. Because he has tried to steal and destroy more in my life than anyone else I know has. And I was like, if I can just get through this season, the devil's gonna really hate that he tried to test me. And then one night around 4 a.m., I was I was reaching a breaking point, and I watched this Bible, I watched this Bible like animated video lesson, whatever you want to call it, about doubt. And the message was simple it's okay to struggle with doubt. And that having questions didn't make me a bad Christian, and it didn't mean I had lost my faith. And I remember sitting there weeping out because I realized God wasn't ashamed of me, and God didn't want to be done with me. But the breakthrough wasn't immediate. I still had some lingering um inklings of doubt. But ultimately I did have a breakthrough. In that month, we my church had a conference called Winter Breakthrough, and it's right, I did I did have a breakthrough. And I will forever remember that night in that conference being not my breaking point, but my breakthrough. And ever since then, I have been stronger than my faith than I ever was. I mean, I truly walk with that. With that, devil, if you only knew what I would be after the storm, you wouldn't have even bothered me. Because I mean, I know I know he hates what I'm doing now. I know the devil hates what I'm doing now. And I kind of walk with the boldness now that like the devil, the devil can't overcome my God because my God is above him. And I don't have to be subject to what the devil wants or what the devil's trying to do because I submit to a God that's more powerful than he is.
SPEAKER_01Amen. That's stop smiling. Amen. Thank you for sharing that with us because I think a lot more people struggle with that than we think. Um, for somebody that does think more logically and realistic, it can definitely um, I'm sure it can be hard to tap into all things supernatural and all things faith-based. I love how you said that now you feel like the Lord's giving you a boldness, and that's exactly what you need when you're trying to pursue a ministry of any kind. You mentioned at the beginning that you and some friends are leading a P7 club. I know that it is such a blessing, and y'all are literally like missionaries taking the gospel into your school, which is a campus, filled with young people that need the Lord. So that takes a lot of courage and a lot of faith, actually, because even when you don't see anything happening or moving, you have to believe that God is still working and doing something. It is back to school season, and so there's lots of P7 clubs that are starting back up, getting back in the swing of things, and maybe there is people that are wanting to start P7 clubs. So tell us a little bit about the P7 Club at your school, how you are um contributing to it, how you're serving, and what does all of that look like?
SPEAKER_03A good portion of my because me and my cousin went to the same school, or she graduated from the school that I go to now. You Veronica Wallentrop, what are you talking about? It's you, it's you. Actually, maybe I shouldn't give them information out.
SPEAKER_02What, that we're feelings?
SPEAKER_03No, that's all that we have. Stop! Stop.
SPEAKER_02That we were standing over in high school.
SPEAKER_03I mean, we both take that. Scratch that. Scratch the school books. Um, and yeah, I love P7 so much. It's it's such an easy way to talk to the people at your school about it. And I mean, we've had adversities. I mean, uh well, for context, Veronica's the one that started the P7 at my school. Because she used to go there. What came in? Yeah, Veronica was the one that started it. There's a lot of adversity. Uh at first we weren't able to start it, and then as I was coming in my freshman year, she was like, Yeah, we can start one now, because we had a switch-in principalship, if that's that's what you call it. Um and starting off, because she made it whenever she was a senior. So like the first year we weren't really me and my friends weren't really having to do the majority of the stuff because we had there were six leaders total, and then the next year it halved because all of three of the leaders were seniors, and we had a good we had a good grasp of holding it, but I had to tell myself because we had some adversities, we had some other Trinitarian churches come at us saying that we're cultish and that we read from other scripture we read from other scriptures and stuff like that, which I mean we we we studied from the Bible. Um I don't know any other book that we studied from. Yeah, don't know what they were talking about. But kind of kind of going through that was was it was troublesome. But I also had to tell myself that if all these four years of my school career or my high school career, if I just plant one seed, I have to be okay with that. And you have to go in it into it with saying, I'm okay if one seed is planted. And you might not even see the seed is the thing. So I had to tell myself, I'm okay if one seed is planted and I don't even see it happen. Because ultimately, you might not see it happen. It's very easy to it's very easy to start a P7. I will say it was very easy once we actually had a principal that was going along with it. And also there are so many rich out there. Like you can I was talking to a P7 representative at my church camp, and he was talking to me. He was like, Yeah, dude, there's there's there's like several Bible studies that you can go on the P7 website and like download, and you can teach those. And I didn't even know about them. So going to P7 website, the P7's website, that is such a vital resource and tool that you can use because it generally has a lot of information and Bible studies and help. Yeah, we've had uh ever since then we've had like outside worship sets, uh sermons. We we had church services outside of the school happen.
SPEAKER_01What would you say to a young person maybe that has a P7 club at their school or is involved in their P7 club and maybe they haven't seen much growth or much movement in their P7, how would you just encourage them to keep going?
SPEAKER_03Walk with walk with confidence, walk with boldness because if you're called to have a P7 club, you are called to enter into a place that is not originally spiritual. You're walking into a place that is I mean, essentially you are a missionary of your school, and you have to walk with boldness, you can't it is so easy to get down about stuff. Because I mean, like you have you have a meeting and only a few people show up. It's so easy to become timid and doubtful and scared, but you can't let that happen. You have to, you genuinely just have to whenever that stuff like that is, you have to pray about it, because ultimately God is in control. But to ultimately answer your question, be okay with one seed being planted, go into it with one seed being planted is enough. Because I mean, if two seeds are being planted that you see, then your expectations are overexceeded. The seed that you'll plant matters a lot more than your comfort zone. Yeah, that's ultimately what you have to walk with.
SPEAKER_01So you also mentioned a couple minutes ago that you have been on AYC trips. So tell us about your most recent trip. Um, tell us about the one before, and how did they impact you? And why would you encourage someone to go on one?
SPEAKER_03So, yeah, I I love AYC so much because they make everything once you've raised your money, you're pretty much set. Like you don't have they make it very easy for you to go on these trips and missions trips. And I love them so much because you go along with people that you've never met before, and it's a bunch of other young people your age that also are in that same season, and that you're just you can just reconcile with a lot of them. And like on my most recent one, I was and on my most recent one, at like the very end where we were like kind of closing out remarks. I was like, I I said I I don't see a lot of young people my age, because I'm also like I also have school friends and I have church friends, but I also see a lot of young people that aren't committed to God and that aren't involved, and I am so appreciative of those people that are on those trips that are actually seeking out God and trying to do his work. But it's also such an easy way to evangelize because you go into a place and you're kind of new and forced to do new things. Because I mean, whatever you do there, it's gonna be new either way. So you might as well evangelize too, because it's gonna be new. But I mean, I've gone on two, I've gone on two AYC trips, Chicago and Boston, and Chicago was last and Chicago was last year, and Boston was this year, and you just get so much you feel like you're being used the entire week for the kingdom of God, and it's so fulfilling, and you come back with such a desire for God and for people. You you you feel a burden for people whenever you come back. And throughout ministry, since since I gave my since that October 2024, about like my testimony, ever since then, steps with God in ministry have gone. God saying, Chase, I want you to take that step, and me saying, No, I don't want to take it. And then God will say again, I want you to take it. And I go, I don't want to. And then back and forth until I say, Alright, I'll do it. And whenever this this Boston trip, I we we went on this tower, and it was like kind of like a sky view tower, like you get to see over the city. And the pastor that we were helping out with the church that week was like, Alright, let's gather in real quick. He was like, I want y'all to pray over the city. Like right now, like in this area that we're in. And we started praying, and I felt God so much during that, and just praying over the city, I got so much fulfillment. And then as I'm walking around, someone almost gets like highlighted in my mind. Like I genuinely felt like there's like a spotlight on them or something. And I felt God was saying, Go pray with him. And like I said before, steps in ministry have been me saying, I don't want to, and then God saying, I want you to. And I talked to my chef, and I go, I I'm scared to death. I have never walked into a stranger that I remember before in public and said, Hey, can I pray with you? But then as I'm kind of fighting internally, I realize that my God isn't the God of confusion or timidness or fear. My God is the God of boldness, and my God is the God of discipleship. So no matter what, if I was scared, because a part of it was pride that I didn't want to look stupid or weird, and I cared too much about my self-image. And I knew I was going to regret it later if I didn't go up to that security guard. So for the first time in my life, I went up to someone who I didn't know and I asked if they wanted if they wanted prayer, and I prayed with them. And I felt such a heaviness being lifted from me. Because in that moment I felt like fear wasn't controlling me. Because I know who the author of fear is, who the fear is, and I know what the Bible says about that author of fear. Romans 16 20 says the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. So I tell you, do not let fear or worry dictate how you spread the gospel. Because Mark 16, 15 says, Jesus said, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
SPEAKER_01I love that. I think that is such a benefit from AYC trips, honestly, because it really does get you out of your comfort zone. Like you said, you um go to a new place that you've never been to before, and you basically just dive into doing a work for God. And a lot of times that's what people do when they actually feel called to ministry and they do go somewhere. Maybe they move, maybe they plan a church, maybe they um are a missionary, maybe they're evangelizing. So they're going to multiple different places and God is bringing them out of their comfort zone. And so I think that that whether you know you go to a beautiful place or not on an AYC trip, I feel like the whole point is it's like getting you out of your box, your four walls at your local church or at in your hometown. Um, it's just kind of Getting you out of your comfort zone. And so I love that you said that because outreach and evangelism and ministry and all of that, it's never easy and it's never just something that comes to you naturally. I don't think. I think that anybody and everybody, even like the biggest soul winners, have to step out of their comfort zone and do something for God that they didn't always imagine or picture.
SPEAKER_03I I have felt after my Boston trip, I felt so called going to places that aren't spiritual and go preach the gospel. And God works through ordinary people. One time, I so I do archery, and one time my friend was complaining about how bad his knee hurts. And I was like, Hey, you want to pray for it? He was like, Yeah, sure. And my I start praying for it, and then I put my eyes after I say after saying amen, after praying for it, and he looked kind of his face kind of like shifts from like a smile to like a serious, like kind of like confused face. He was like, dude, like all the pain just went away in my in my knee. And he was like, dude, my knee feels great. But the thing is, I didn't heal him, God did. And in those moments, you gotta give all God all the credit. Because he was like, dude, you you healed my knee. And I was like, I I didn't heal you because I don't have the power, God does. And ultimately, miracles point toward Jesus, not toward us. Or they're meant to they're meant to point towards Jesus, not us. Because I'll talk about it in a little bit, but testimonies and just things that God's done in people's lives is such a such it's such a big arrow to people that don't know God to point to God, if that makes sense. And after after that, you know, 4am incident where I not incident, but that encounter with God, I realized that I was called to ministry. And God's work in ministry is the highest calling on anyone's life. No earthly title amounts to being called. No CEO, president, athlete, celebrity is greater than leading people to Christ. And every and every believer is called to represent Jesus wherever they go. And whenever you're going out into the world or into the nations, make sure to love as much as you can. Because love opens doors, and people aren't looking for argument, they're looking for someone who genuinely cares. So don't just invite someone to church. Invite them with your love. So don't just say, hey, you want to come with me Sunday? And then next week, hey, you want to come with me Sunday? And then next week, come with me Sunday. Don't do that. Talk to them, be a friend. Because a lot of people are seeing, are trying to figure out, do you actually love them? Do you love them? And my friend that God healed his knee and his girlfriend have asked me a lot of questions about the Bible, and I have actually actually have come to church with me before. And they felt comfortable asking me questions because they told me that that they feel like I'm not condemning them whenever I talk to them about the gospel. And kindness and love and patience build so much trust to the point where they will believe you. And people are willing to listen when they know that you care about them. And like I mentioned before, testimonies are such a big arrow pointing to God. Because I don't know if you've ever been in a cardboard testimony service. I've been in, I think, two now. There was one at camp one year. I've been in one or two. I want to say there was two, but I'm pretty sure there was there was definitely one. But I mean, if you don't know what it is, it's a someone will put on a car or walk across across a platform or the front of the church with like something that they deal with. So like it could be like drug addiction or they've been attacked or uh they were in financial ruin. And then and then they'll flip it over and it explains how God healed them, encountered them, or just changed their life. And if you've ever been in one of these services, they are so powerful, and the spirit just falls. Because I mean, like it also reveals stuff about people you didn't know. Like one of like I was in one of those services, and one of my friends was my dad was addicted to drugs for like two years, and I didn't even know that. I didn't even know that. And they were one of my close closest friends, and then that just kind of sent me into a spiral. And testimonies demonstrate what God can do. And every Christian has a testimony. And if you're like me, growing up in church does not make your testimony any less valuable. Your story, no matter what your upbringing is, is evidence of God's grace. And experiences are powerful. A personal encounter with God is difficult to argue against. Because, like, I can give you statistic after statistic, and you can still argue with me. Because that's how arguments go. But if I've encountered something, if something's happened to me, you can't argue what happened. Because I know what happened, because that's my encounter. Because someone can debate the law the theology all day long, but they can't erase what God's done in someone else's life. And a testimony, and a testimony helps you carry so much confidence with with God. Because I walk with so much boldness now about my testimony, I I don't experience doubt like I used to. Because I was like, I feel like God hasn't, I I don't I feel like God's not done I I used to feel like God didn't do much for me. But then that happened and then I realized how much God has done for me. And now anytime like I try I start to like feel like an inkling of doubt, I don't anymore. Because I go back to that. God renewed me when I was the most doubtful, and he still loves me. Do you know who do you know who Ken Gurley is? So if you don't know who he is, he is a podcaster, he's a minister, he's he's a big name whenever like you look into like a lot of older preachers and stuff like that, which I mean he's he's still he's still like I guess relevant, but like I guarantee your your parents are gonna know who he is. And he gives like kind of like a guide about how to share your testimony. So make three bullets get out a sheet of paper if you're wanting to share your testimony. Or yeah, you need you need to share your testimony, because I mean I explained it's it's clear evidence of God. Uh bullet point number one. What was your life like like before Christ? What were you feeling? What did you struggle with all before Christ? And then number two, what happened and how did God change your heart and how did he work in your life when meeting him? Like, so for a lot of people, it can be like they were addicted to like some drugs use, they were in financial ruin, and then they went to a church service, and then they were renewed. So he gives us number one, describe your life before Christ. What was it like? How did you feel? What were you struggling with? What were you struggling with?
SPEAKER_02Sorry. Please continue.
SPEAKER_03And then number two, what was meeting Jesus like? What happened? How did God change your heart? How did he work in your life? So like that could be like if you got saved in a church, that's that's that's what number two is talking about. And then what's your life after Christ? What is different now? What has God healed you from, changed you from, restored you from, renewed you from? What was your life like without him? What would your life be like without him today? Because whenever you're describing the part before Christ, a lot of people that you'll talk to, that's where they're at now. And you describing, hey, I was at where you're at right now, and this is how I got out of it. They're gonna be like, I want that. You're because essentially you're being kind of a salesman. If I'm be honest.
SPEAKER_02What essentially you're being essentially you're selling the gospel.
SPEAKER_03You are one of the guys that actually talked to me at Boston AYC was like, I took a sales class and that helped me with ministry. He said that his pastor put him in, he said that his pastor put him in sales, or put him in like a sales class, and that helped him with ministry. And then after you've jotted down the essentials or your key points of your testimony, practice it. Imagine someone asking you, there's something different about you. What changed? Practice telling your testimony, share it with your parent or another mature believer for feedback. Avoid confusing theological language when talking to someone unfamiliar with Christianity. You can't, you can't overexplain whenever you're introducing a new topic. And focus on what Jesus has done rather than using church vocabulary. And take every opportunity. Be ready for God giving conversations at any point during the day. If someone's hurting, offer to pray. If someone's asking questions, answer with grace. If God opens the door, walk through it. And use any and everything that you can. Because one time after I got back from my Boston trip, I was at Marshall's shopping. I was buying a lightning McQueen shirt. And I was still in my Sunday clothes. Because it was right after me and my youth group. Hey, we went to Marshall's. And then I was like, ooh, that lightning McQueen shirt looks nice. Let me buy it. And then and then the the cashier was like, Oh, you look nice. I was like, Thank you. I just came from church. And then I checked out, and then I was like, Do you mind if I pray with you? She was like, No, you can. And I ended up praying with her. And she ended up telling me about like how like her knee has been really hurting her, and like surgery and stuff like that is coming up, and doctor stuff. And I ended up praying, I ended up praying with someone because I was buying a lightning and queen shirt. I need you all to understand how ridiculous that sounds on paper. But simply because I used, but simply because I used that, I got to pray with someone and invite them to church and give them a church card. Because every conversation can become an invitation to experience Jesus. Made in China, made in China. God made the earth and everything else is made in China.
SPEAKER_00You never heard that before.
SPEAKER_01It was in the way you've never sounded so guntry in your life.
SPEAKER_03No, there's this like senator. I don't know where he is. What he's hilarious. He's hilarious. Like he was like, uh, she's the reason that there's instructions on a shampoo bottle. Are you not getting it or not?
SPEAKER_00Uh no. Alright, moving on. He said she's the reason that they're. Chase, we gotta lock in. We gotta lock in. We gotta lock in. Moving on. Let's give me the crackers. No. Give me the crackers.
SPEAKER_03Run up on a cracker. Run up all on a cracker. Run up all on a cracker.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01For real, for real, for real. Chase, everything that you've said today has been so good. So um I have one more question for you. I asked this to every single guest I have on the podcast. And that is, what is a general what is a general piece of advice that you would leave with a young person that is listening today? And this could be something that you need to hear, that you've needed to hear before, or just anything on the on your heart today.
SPEAKER_03So I'm really glad you asked this because I have very very many a lot of what are you doing right now? You can't see her right now, but she's like she looks like she's or like directing a choir.
SPEAKER_01Okay, fun fact I want to be a choir director so bad one day.
SPEAKER_03I actually do too. I'm not gonna lie. We can you have work. Yeah. You she's grabbing the air right now and like pulling it toward her. I think you understand how this looks right now.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Are you gonna keep that in? Well, yeah. Okay, good. Okay, so um. And now she's walking on the ceiling and hula dancing on the sea on the roof right now. I don't never mind, she's not she doesn't even know the hula dance is because she's definitely not doing it right now. That's not you're not doing it right. You're doing my Boston from from Hawaii would be like so like disappointed right now. Disappointed. No, but God has placed you around people for a reason, and your testimony may be exactly what someone needs to hear. Because you saying, hey, I struggle with something might be someone's last chance to hear the gospel. And you don't need to have all the answers, you simply need a willing heart, and be available to love people well and let God work through you, and use every opportunity that is given to you. Make opportunities. Even when there may not be one, make an opportunity, use every single thing and don't let anything back. And I'm sure I'm sure a lot of y'all have heard that song. It's like, let the alabaster break. So in the Bible, uh there were several accounts of these women, they would have an alabaster. An alabaster box or an alabaster bottle. And what it is, it's this the dictionary divines an alabaster box as an ancient, highly valuable container made from alabaster stone used in biblical times to store expensive perfume or fragrant oil. Okay, so it it stores expensive liquids. But why do we want to break it? Matthew 16, Matthew 26, 7 through 13 says, A woman came up to him with an alabaster flask, a very expensive ointment, and she poured it out on his head as he reclined at a table, at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant? Yeah, probably. A woman come up, came up to him with a alabaster flask, a very expensive, and and this is talking about Jesus. He yeah. And she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. And then the disciples saw it. And the disciples saw it. They were indignant, saying, Why this waste? For this could have been sold for a large sum given to the poor. But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, Why do you trouble the woman? For she she has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for the burial. Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her. So in in in Judaic tradition, for a lamb to be sacrificed, they would have to anoint the head, they would have to anoint the feet in like a certain due process. And there were several or a couple of women that actually fulfilled this because a few days after this, Jesus was sacrificed. Because he was being prepared for the burial, he even says it himself. He said, in pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. And the thing about an alabaster flask or an alabaster box is once you break it, you cannot unbreak it. And breaking the vase or the flask or the box, whatever you want to call it, signify that there was no going back and that you were committed. And I say to you, break your alabaster. Don't come back from once you've came. Make the commitment and don't go back. And that's what it means to break the alabaster.
