Defining “All” In Scripture

SPEAKER_00

The meaning of all. Jesus said, Mark 12, 30, love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Let us then define the word all. All is one of the most frequently used words in English and one of the oldest continuously attested words in the language, remaining essentially unchanged in form and meaning for over a thousand years. The word all is defined as complete, total, one hundred percent, whole, entire, bar none, every last bit of, totality, adverb as in completely, without exception, all in all, utterly, only, nothing but, solely, some total, whole ball of wax. Finally, with this proper context, let us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, understand that all other personal loves must be rejected, hated, voided, surrendered to the cross for crucifixion with Christ, given up, pushed out, and emptied from within oneself. If we are to be filled with the power of God's love in our lives, one cannot love God with all when other loves are active. One cannot be filled with the love of God when the vessel refuses to be empty of all other loves. The above is why Jesus flat out declared Luke 1426. If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Thus, only by picking up one's cross and being discipled by Jesus can any person truly, honestly, be given divine power to love others. After all, God is love and the only source of power to love. All other loves are, in fact, idolatry. Faith, family, and home, or faith, family and country, or any combination thereof, are twists on loving God with all and a violation of Exodus 23, to have no other gods beside God. Jesus made this abundantly clear by example, embarrassing his mother before a crowd, as recorded in the New Testament. Matthew twelve, forty eight through fifty. He replied, Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? Pointing to his disciples, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers, for whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother. Now, let us pray with Paul the Apostle, as we understand there are two families in this world, the family of Satan with its idolatries, and the family of God that loves God with all. Let us pray. Ephesians three fourteen through fifteen. For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
