Examining Today's Wisdom, Folly and Madness

A hung jury, you say? A hung jury where prosecutors presented their best? A hung jury that cannot reach a consensus in spite of the powerful state? Well, mark this down as my personal jury jot. The state just found the defendant not guilty. The state could not prove its case the first time. The state is thus not entitled to a second chance. If I served on a jury in a second trial, if I was called to sit in the judgment box of the jury seat, if I was able to render a verdict before one word was spoken by the prosecutors, it is not guilty. Before one retake of a re-talk from the first trial, it is not guilty. Before one remake of their first storytelling, it is not guilty. Deuteronomy 1620, follow justice and justice alone.
