All right, welcome back episode 29 The Trilateral podcast What's up? Hey, what's going? Bit of a break from the holiday week, but we are back Got a lot to cover this episode two F1 races two weeks of college football Playoffs right around the corner and then two weeks of NFL so We'll get started with the Grand Prix Yeah, that was a fucking race That was a good one Some good speeds some yes, some prizes We watched that first practice that they did and we were watching the leaderboard like we just wait We watched it from the beginning right when they got out there and everything damn they were blind like right out the gate It's one of the faster circuits I know they they think they were struggling with grip a little bit earlier in the week, but Overall was fairly good. I know Hamilton didn't have the greatest qualifying session. Qualifying Cut short if I recall properly I remember there is a early the first practice session We were watching and something happened where everybody had to come into the pit and Then everyone had to then you could exit the pit You know what I mean they gave you a time to exit the pit and I remember one driver took like a sweet ass time To go out of the pit and one driver I forget who it was. I don't know if it was Norris or was a was it a McLaren? Oh, I do someone passed someone in the lane or something or in the pit Yeah, he didn't make it out. He didn't make it out in the time to get out of the pit So he had to keep his car there Like he had to keep it and the team had to push the car back all the way back to the garage Something about not getting out of the pit in time or something like that. I don't know who it was I want to say it wasn't McLaren car. Maybe it wasn't Um, okay You remember that? Yeah, I forgot who it was though But they were talking about one of the other drivers Like you maybe did it as like a strategy or something like that to like not let him out there You know, I mean to get time on the track something like that, but then I was like do this the first practice Yeah but Hey, that was a good race Um, you know Hamilton was back in tent and Uh ended up being in Mercedes-1-2 which was amazing um Big win for George good overtakes um You know for stepping in that up six average that was enough because he finished head of Lando to take the championship which I think it was a good race the only thing I didn't care was for the end It's like they made that a big deal You know he had his own car at the end that drive him to the The center stage and all that and it's kind of like okay. I get it technically his one, but save it to the end but I loved the the interview Uh Terry crew was doing the post race interviews with the podium um Yeah, that was pretty sweet You know Hamilton's comments were you know spot on you know champion ships over what now we can just race and say yep let's do it so Um a lot of good overtaking though We had I think only one retiree I believe it was gazzly he lost his power unit um I don't think there was I don't think we had any safety cars No I don't believe so so Um I'd say the execution of this one was a lot better compared to last year Yeah, but you see how empty the stands were I did see that yeah Yeah, it was not good I actually know we had 2D NFs in this one Oh really? Yeah the Williams one of the Williams uh Didn't finish um But yeah, it was uh You know we had 16 cars on leading lap That's the change compared to pass race So So McLaren did not look strong at all Mercedes struggled You know fucking or not Mercedes a red bull struggled But uh Mercedes and Ferrari look good The only thing you got Fricken Ferrari Screwing themselves with communication Um I thought Uh Science would get a penalty for lining up in the pit lane and then ducking out of the last second but Team told him to because they weren't ready for him Hmm The one team wasn't ready for him to come out You know That threw them off they probably could have Challenge second place a little more if that wanted messed up but I was a little surprised by how slow the McLaren looked So The overall was a good rate so thought that was amazing Mercedes 1 2 I that wasn't expected really Uh would not expect that and I think the odds did definitely not expect Mercedes to be they were like To for win it outright So the winning driver to have be it from like that brand what was Mercedes like Fourth in the list right there for third So Yeah, Russell looks real strong man. He That was amazing Yeah, so Um Moving on to uh This past weekend's race car Um back in the middle east for the last two races Um Little touch and go through the weekend Um I'd say a pretty interesting race A lot of good memes on what kind of transpired but um No, Russell is strong again Hamilton struggled Yeah, they didn't do too bad in the in the sprint race but Comes Sunday their car was just out of balance um We had Three safety cars I think Yeah, we had three safety cars We safety cars the one I call it I they honestly should have did a safety car much sooner that debris on the on the track And then it got ran over and then he had two punctures which Doing a little My team debriefs after the race it actually doesn't appear that the Mercedes Got that puncture on the debris It might have been other debris or just might have been riding the curbs harder Um Well a little bit of chaos after that I feel Um because some came in and pitt and then some did early and then some did on the yellow flag and Uh Panelys galore holy shit um Which pushed Hamilton and Norris You know Norris had ended up in last Ended up at last at one point and then fought his way back into the points, but it still Um, what was the stop and go penalty He the stop and go penalty when they had a double yellow for the debris He did not let up. Oh He continued he hit drs and then didn't let up on that straight. So that's what they got him for on that Um and the double yellows were out it was it was hard to tell during the race, but After looking at some other here on boards and stuff the double yellows were out So it was valid, but Just kind of sock that it Took so damn long to where was he at at that point um I think he was Is it their six I think Gajan He might have been a little higher possibly Um And you know Hamilton and kind of he had a A penalty I'm trying to think what that was oh Because he had a false start And then he got another penalty for When they had to when they were finally they finally safety card it they drove the safety card through the pit Well, he was speeding in the pit lane Oh So that threw him off kicked him to the back and then he was And that was just before Norris got his And you know he asked he's like can we just retire it and they said no And then they he got back out there and they're like oh you want it in for you tire and then I just I think it was radio Science after that he was like fuck it. I'm I'm race on and after the race he's like yeah Pracient done that you know He owned it was like giving up Kind of just one of those races where it was he was just bad on it and We lose then to get knocked down again on a penalty and So Yeah, a lot of Quite a few safety cars and then Just a little bit of turmoil We had five DNFs they have five DNFs Two were within the first turn Um Uh, you know kind of the big thing I guess maybe one of the highlights was Sousa were finally scored their first points. Yeah Um, so that was good for them. They actually looked the car looked good compared to what it has It's just funny how from one race to the next How different the tracks the climates When they're racing what time they're racing on the day and how it affects Um because I said the track was gaining a lot of grip Um, which is a little unusual for the track um And then the tire degradation was real hard it seemed in the early part of the weekend and then it didn't seem to be as bad and Um You know also look pretty strong. I think tire strategy probably hurt him a little bit Hmm But um You know for our obviously you gained a big ground on the constructors So it will come down to the last race. Yeah That's all look good Yeah, because they finished second and sixth and then McLaren was third and 10th Um Yeah, rock usl even got kind of a late penalty which thankfully didn't hurt him It was a time penalty, but he still retained the same spot But Then Red Bull was right back on top so Yeah, like you said the points are closed um Were they if land or were to let's say it would have been one two at that race With the points still been closed I was which closed in Las Vegas No, they gained some ground there and then this race they gained more so you know Ferrari's been on the higher end So for For individual though it's closed Um I don't know I think with Norris's last two results. I think he's um Is the last there's only a lot of it is the last race like double points or something No, it's same point totals But um, yeah, there's only eight points between second and third Lando and uh Charles So oh that yeah, yeah, but first is locked up Oh, yeah, a lot yeah, first is locked um Outside of that Really those are the two that are closed. There's not really going to be any other swap some of the lower ones might But at that point it doesn't really matter. It's really the team one that's Yeah Because right now You know if McLaren bombed it they're not going to get it But they're gonna come out swinging So because there's 20 21 points Yeah, 21 points between first and second right now, so instructors is up the crabs Red Bull doesn't have They could jump to second at both of them finished high and the others finished low, but Um It's either gonna be for our gonna McLaren you gotcha So for our Yeah, I would definitely Charles and Lando are they're gonna be pushing it pushing it definitely Should be a good raise them Yeah Should be a good last race for sure Then Mercedes is doing some things for Hamilton obviously I think he's gonna have a Special liver liver on his car Um, I did hear that they have some sort of drawing where So many fans at the race can actually go sign the the car pre-race Well really yeah, they're doing a raffle thing so He's not dull actually huh he's not dulling why does it sound like a farewell thing Well, it's farewell from him you know moving from Mercedes Oh, yeah Lot of history there obviously a lot of championships so nothing going for our right Yeah, and it I About to win some champion ships. I hope you can get another one. I'd love him to get that That eighth one I'd be great Be like a sea red bulls or be like Tom Brady man Just like wins all the super bulls with the Patriots and then he goes the Another one real quick retire And he went with he went with the red team too You dig about it Patriots you know kind of like the Mercedes colors, you know Yeah kind of silver yeah, because they were yeah they were running the silver back then so um It should be good race Hopefully it's not too political, but I'm sure we'll have some safety cars. I'm sure probably both Williams will crash and probably one of the alpine will pray crash and Yeah, we'll see unless all unless all chaos ensues and you know fucking both s and Zau are up in the top five that would be wild I don't see that out of it I was out of the races some interesting news Obviously Cadillac GM got their their bid approved Yep, um, and they've already signed their first driver for the 26 season Daniel Ricardo What? Yep, it was confirmed today Wow, so They'll be driving in the Cadillac wow They're gonna run Ferrari engines and then I think the following year that Yeah, I think it's the following year. They'll be um Using their own power plant Yeah Yep, so Damn It's kind of cool you think about it Cadillac and the car The livery they had was it was like a black and gold livery which looked pretty sharp. Yeah Uh, we're hoping hoping I'm hoping they do well and I hope the uh I'd love them to pick up uh, Valtteri both to us. Are you? You're gonna give SMU a disadvantage for losing their championship because I had to play one more game versus Indiana who gets to sit out Because they're not in the big time You got a true need wait. You can't punish the team that went to the championship I still think if SMU loses they deserve a chance of over BAMO or Georgia That's debatable as well. So we really think Alabama with a which is a what a two lost team three lost teams That's where they got to change the system off a bit Yeah, this ranking thing is just there's certainly two or three two Well, how can playoff with three losses? I like how they they say the the pious ranked team that wins their conference championship is the based on the teams that get the buy weeks so in an example that Oregon oizy state texas and SMU win their conference championships Obviously they all get the buy because they are the highest seeded teams Which would make a hundred percent sense. I love that But like what you just said yeah, they got to get the rest of it figured out because How the fuck is that Alabama in the in the conversation with three teams? Yes, they got a very tough schedule. Yes all three of their losses were to what? SEC teams right? I'm still not a big fan. Yeah, I get it. I'm an other damn fan But you have another day and have one of the hardest schedules since they're not part of a conference They'll never be at top 14 but that does make sense It doesn't make sense because if they have say they have one of the hardest schedules and they have to play like five ranked teams Which they could with some years because they do how hard was their schedule action? I'm saying though I'm saying the next year say they have a tough schedule. Yeah, they're not part of a conference But they sub a super tough schedule more tougher schedule than BAMO or tough schedule Georgia If they do have a tough schedule, yes, they just stay but that's what they say though If they have a tough schedule, those still never gonna be a top 14, which is I mean bullshit Because I don't think they would have been bad. It schedule is not hard enough Not saying they didn't play tough teams, but it just definitely wasn't hard enough But I don't know we will we'll see on that but the Yeah, I agree with you Chris, they need to figure out the rest of the ranking because some of this shit is Definitely doesn't make sense to me Yeah, there's teams that aren't gonna make it. This should be in their competing I just know doubt now. I don't know. I would see. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Time to see Ohio State George, I mean, I don't think Georgia should be rean. I don't think Georgia or BAMO should be making it But for what it sounds like it sounds like they're both gonna make it even if Georgia does lose their big-to-japy chip Yeah, because if they're gonna put BAM in there they hatch but Georgia is there Because BAM is not playing for a SEC title the Georgia is so it doesn't make sense to have that they're both gonna be say Georgia loses They're both gonna be three lost teams so The SEC championship and the big-time championship is gonna decide a lot for the big 12. I mean The rest of it might be pretty simple There's no reason SMU Indiana boys you shouldn't be above Georgia or Ohio antenna soon Just not because of the strength of schedule I guess because they got to play SEC You get a couple ten and two is kind of buried in there, but Yeah, but they're that big 12 ain't shit That conference is about that that big 12 conference is going to do does Errors on a state no Iowa state How that work they get in right they get a they don't get a first-round buy obviously because of their ranking But they would get into playoffs whoever wins that conference, right? Yeah Whoever wins that conference still gets in the thing that our teams out so I think they're both playing for obviously so I think if Iowa State wins obviously Arizona's not gonna make it Those states like to make it vice versa. Yeah so So really like Texas and Oregon they could lose these games and it wasn't really fucking matter No, there's shoe-ins there's still we don't think that would change is I don't think they get their first-week by Yeah, they wouldn't get the first round by They're still gonna be playing in a first-week by So yeah, and they will still be playing but just Technicalities they could say fuck it. Yeah Take their buy now basically for their starters Now they ain't gonna do that they're trying to win because especially someone like Oregon at Texas right now With the the new conferences they want to win the new conference this year or being in the new comp So Texas obviously joining the SEC and then Oregon joined the big 10, you know, they expanded big town so Oh, except projecting SMU Boise, Oregon, Texas is the first-round buys. Yeah, they played some some scrub but they haven't played like terrible teams the whole schedule, so No That's just wild But you guys are gonna have probably what Ohio State In Notre Dame Think that's what they were projecting First round playoff where I saw was Alabama. Whatever gets them more views Hmm Well, we will see Okay Moving on to what was that fucking week 12 That was week 12 for consumable right now. I caught a little bit right here We yeah week 12 week 12 Starting Thursday night um If we do we do our uh Shit Yeah, we did our pit That was uh That was a whiteout game Cleveland Steelers Yeah, that game was insane The snow just came out of nowhere and just kept coming That was rough.
