Trends in Creativity Research
Think creativity is all about ideas and brainstorming? Think again. Dr Mike Mumford emphasizes creativity is equally about evaluation. "Systematic refinement," continual appraisal and honing as a practice defines creative process. And there are many other attributes to creativity that are often overlooked or not yet understood. Motivation, anomaly, disruption, negative creativity, anger all contribute to creativity, but how exactly?
Why this matters: companies that are deliberately creative are more profitable and sustainable. Translation: creativity can lead to greater functionality, productivity and well being, especially when deliberate. Deliberate for what? Good, bad? Creativity and certainly more research is critical. AI is upon us. Plus human capital is a nation's greatest resource. We owe it to ourselves through education and work to continue researching and developing our creative selves. More researchers for creativity please. Join us.
