Harness Up! with Haste Draft Horses and Mules

We Hit 37 States, Sold Teams, And Planned A Bigger Year Ahead

Haste Draft Horses and Mules Episode 22

Send us a text

Missed us on the road? We’re back with a truckload of stories from 37 states, a wagon train that rolled through Victor’s farm, and a blueprint for a bigger, better year ahead. Between campfire hymns, bluegrass jam sessions, and a few hair-raising roadside lessons, we break down what it takes to keep draft horses and mules steady, safe, and sound when the miles stack up.

We swap highlights from a coast-to-coast run—Florida seafood feasts, Vermont mountain views, a security-guarded night at a busy truck stop—and the small choices that make travel humane for the teams. You’ll hear how we feed and water inside a wide-body trailer, why sleeping near the animals matters, and the simple rest rule that probably saved us. We also map out the clinics we’re planning across the country, focused on practical skills: loading and balance, overnight care, pressure-release timing, mule mindset, and navigating busy environments without lighting a fuse.

Victor opens up about his quarter horse mare that bucked him clean out of the saddle and how getting back on reshaped his training plan. We preview upcoming guest voices—seasoned mule trainers and a rider who drove mustangs across the country—plus a local lens on cattle markets and butchery that grounds the romance of the road in real economics. Along the way, our community shows up in force: fans who became friends, a borrowed fiddle bow that saved a bluegrass set, and a cabin by the barn where travelers can rest and swap stories.

SPEAKER_04:

Hey folks, Stephen Haste here with Hankstraft Horses and Mules. Long time no see, guys. I know it's been a long time. I've tried to keep these podcasts going regular, but unfortunately, with selling horses like we do and selling mules every day and customers and traveling and all that, excuse me, all that going on, guys, it's just hard. But I'm going to give it my best. I wanted to come on here and talk to y'all. Thank you for everything. Thank you for coming on and listening to our podcast. It means the world to us. Most of all, happy Thanksgiving. And we are thankful for you guys. And we got a lot of podcasts coming up, a lot of plans, a lot coming up in the future, but I want to apologize for not keeping them coming like I hoped to. But um, hopefully next year will be different. Hopefully we can do it. So I'm here with Victor. He's sitting over here. Y'all may remember Victor from a podcast back earlier in the year. Say hi to the folks, Victor.

SPEAKER_02:

Hey, how's it going over there on that podcast? Yeah, we're here, man. Yeah, we're just chilling on the couch, just having a nice little conversation.

SPEAKER_04:

We're doing this podcast. You may hear some background noise. We got my little boy here, Silas. He's sitting here. He's Yeah, say hi. Can you say hi? He don't want to talk, I don't guess. But uh got him with us and got my little six-month-old little girl laying over here. Me and Victor's kind of babysitting while they're mama's gone out to worm horses. So um we're doing this podcast taking care of two kids, so it may not be perfect, but we figured we had a little time in between customers so we'd come on. Had a lot of good customers this year, guys. So many. More than I could ever dream of. Just had people here yesterday from South Carolina. Shout out to you. Had customers here this week from I think Utah. Customers here this week from uh or last week from South Dakota, all over the country. Our barbecue vent was a stellar, it was wonderful. It turned out so good.

SPEAKER_02:

That was a really good barbecue event. Did you like it? It was a lot of fun. We had a lot of wagon train rides. We went through my farm actually with uh wagon train. That was that was good. I think they made a video about that. Going through my farm with the wagon train. That was that was probably the best. And then food was good as always, and we had a lot of good people there to sing.

SPEAKER_04:

You made your own video there too, Victor. I did. Tell them how they could find that video.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh go on YouTube and type in Hidden Valley Cattle, and I should be about the only one that pops up and bored. I think you can even go on to Steven's channel and find a a collab, and I think I collabed with them too. So if you just look, you'll be able to find it.

SPEAKER_04:

And I'll put it in the description here on the podcast platform, guys, so you all can see it too. Our YouTube channel too. Check it out. We put a lot of videos on. Haste draft horses and mules on YouTube. We travel all over the country. We did a lot of traveling this year from August 1st till the end of September, even into October. Me and Victor was in what, Victor, 37 states in eight weeks?

SPEAKER_02:

Just about like that. I mean, we went we were in Florida, Maine, we went out to Utah. That was a blast. Utah was great. Uh Mexico and Arizona too. Yep. Then the Res, the Navajo Res, and went Texas and Oklahoma and Arkansas, Colorado. We've been in South Dakota and Wyoming. You can't forget Wyoming. We went and got our new hats in Wyoming.

SPEAKER_04:

I wish I was recording podcasts that whole time, but unfortunately I didn't have time. Could you imagine the content we could have got from people if we were recording the whole time? I told you, Steven, I said, you need to go and get your podcast.

SPEAKER_02:

I said, There's all these kind of people here and they got really cool stories. But he's like, No, no, I don't feel like getting all my podcast stuff out, so he didn't he didn't get any podcast done out there, but I wish I was trying to get him to do a podcast, but he didn't, so Well, it's hard when you got so much else to take care of.

SPEAKER_04:

Taking care of a 16-year-old boy, too. The boy talking over here.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

He did a pretty good job though. First time out pulling a big trailer on the highway. He hadn't been out of Kentucky much when we left. What was the main thing you learned out on the road, Victor, driving all that time? Phew.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, me and Steven, we figured out that when you're tired, you pull over and you sleep. It's no need to be driving tired. And we did that, didn't we?

SPEAKER_04:

Every time we would get tired. We pulled over and went to bed. We've gone a lot longer, not rushing it, but what we could have done is one sleep and one drive and drove and kept going, but we talked too much and sung a lot and had a blast and we just stopped at night and we stopped a lot of places, met a lot of people. And um I enjoyed the heck out of it. I love getting out and traveling like that on the road. Next year is gonna be a big thing, guys. We're gonna be doing clinics. Um we got a lot of clinics coming up next year. Traveling the country doing clinics, so stay tuned for all that and stay tuned for what we got coming up next year. A lot of things happen. A lot of things, so many things. Got a lot of good teams for sale. Hope to do a lot of good podcasts next year. Um, I want to try to get you all four podcasts the month of December. Stay tuned. I got a there's a guy named Jake out of Utah. Super nice guy. He done a year of the Mustang thing where he drove road mustangs across the country. And he was gone for like a year. That guy's got a lot of good stories. And I'm gonna be doing a podcast with him. I'm gonna be doing a podcast with my good friend Max Bishop. Max is out of Paragold, Arkansas. Max is a good mule trainer. I've known him a lot of years. Just an all-around good fellow to talk to. He's gonna come on and tell us a lot about mules and his insights on mule training and things. Going to do a podcast with Ty Evans. He's another good mule trainer. Travels all over doing clinics. So stay tuned. We got a lot of guests coming up, a lot of things getting ready to happen.

SPEAKER_02:

We got a local one coming up, too. We sure do, yep. We're trying to get set up with the local people.

SPEAKER_04:

We hope to do a lot more podcasts. I'd love to do one a week for y'all if I can. I'm gonna try my best to make it a goal in 2026 to do one podcast a week. That's what I'm hoping. So y'all stay tuned. Keep tuned in here and subscribe to our YouTube, Haste Draft Horses and Mules. Also, we're on Facebook under Haste Draft Horses and Mules. You can find us on Instagram, TikTok, all across the board under that same thing, just Haste, Draft Horses and Mules. And don't forget our website, www.drafthorses and mulesforsale.com. So but we're just sitting here talking and just having a good time and um watching the kids. I said, what better time to come on and record a little bit of a podcast? Victor got something this year too, since y'all seen the podcast. What's your new adventure you're on, Victor? Tell them about that.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh well, I'm training my own horse. It's uh it's gonna be kind of an interesting situation, but we're working through it every day. We went up to I was looking for a horse. I need to work my cows and everything else like that, and just to have something to ride when I'm I'm not busy doing anything else. And so I was looking and looking and we finally found a a uh quarter horse mare up in Topeka, Indiana, and we brought her home and I got on her and I didn't have a good ride, did I? Well, the first ride you actually did. Yeah, the first ride I I had a pretty good success, but that that next ride was pretty pretty bad. I had took her to some other trainers, and I wasn't I guess I'll just say I wasn't impressed about how they were going with things. And so I figured, well, I'll just do it myself. And uh I got her and now I'm starting to do it myself. Over the barbecue, that's when it was. It was over the barbecue. I um I was like, alright, I'm gonna ride her. Those are people going on like this wagon train ride. I was like, alright, I'm gonna try riding her. I got on her, I saddled her, she settled great. I got on her and we went out the field and she took off bucking, and I I come off and I ripped my britches, and I I had a pr I had a pretty bad day, but I did get back on. They say when you get bucked off, you gotta get back on. Well, I got back on and I didn't get bucked off again. She tried, but I turned her out of it, but Steven's wife is helping me train a lot. So that that's good.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, you did get back on. I was proud of you for getting back on. That was that was one thing that was really good, getting back on. Not keeping on going. That that meant a lot right there. Because you could have just fell off and not tried again.

SPEAKER_02:

That means I I could have been a little bit weak or or lazy and not wanted to get back on a little scared, so yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

We got a lot of inside jokes, guys. We're we got a few inside jokes between us, but um, that's why he laughed a little bit when he said that weak and lazy. But guys, we've had a good past three or four months. A lot of things have happened. It's been really good. And like I said, if you hear some background noise, we're babysitting my two youngest kids, a three-year-old and a six-month-old. So uh we apologize. We're doing the best we can though. So trying to get little Silas to say hi to y'all. Will you say hi, Silas? Say hi. He don't want to say it, he's just gibbering. Guys, we it's been good. We've had a lot of things happen and a lot. So he was talking about a podcast with some local people. I'm really wanting to get them people on pretty soon. Show Walder's Butcher Shop right here in the community. Super good guys. I've knew them for a long time. I want to get the insight on the cattle industry and the beef butcher and beef, and they do beef and hogs, and I think it'd be real, really, really interesting to have them on. And Victor had a pretty interesting time a couple, what, a month ago. What'd you sell, Victor? You took all your calves to the market. How'd that go for you?

SPEAKER_02:

That went pretty good. I I was like, man, I really need to the market was dropping there. I'm sure for some of y'all that's listening, pretty familiar with that. But prices were dropping a little bit, and so I was like, well, and it's getting colder. I didn't want to have to feed them over winter, so I was like, you know what, I need to sell my calves. And so I was like, all right. So I didn't have a trailer, nor a truck. So I was like, hey Steven, you care if I use your trailer or use your truck to take he's like, sure, go for it. And I had just gotten my intermediate so I can I can drive myself. He was like, Yeah, sure, go ahead. Take the truck, take the trailer, whatever you need, go for it. So I went and got the truck and trailer and uh and went down there to my farm and I got a little Amish boy to help me, and I think my grandpa come and helped me too. He's sixty-four and he's gone he went down there and helped me as best as he could. He couldn't do much, he's not too sure about cows or whatever. He's not been raised with cows, so he wasn't too sure, but he he did really good. And I had a little Amish boy that helped me too, and we got 'em all loaded up when I was working them. I had one cow in particular that's kind of mean, and my grandpa he was behind the gate, and that mama cow come over there to him and sniffed him and tried to knock that gate down and try to get him. Tried to get my grandpa, but he got out the way quick enough and it was it was good. So he got out of the way and she I chased her out of the barn and got her a good, so Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

On the road this past few months, Victor. What was the most tasty thing you ate the whole two months? What was your favorite? Uh I don't know. I'm gonna say mine. You say yours.

SPEAKER_02:

All right. I know what mine was. Go ahead if you already know what yours is. Corky bells seafood in play. That's on the St. John's River. I figured he was gonna say that, but I was I was trying to pick between that lobster roll I had up there in Connecticut or Porky Bell's.

SPEAKER_04:

I forgot about that. That Connecticut restaurant was good, them Brussels sprouts. Y'all ever been to Westbrook, Connecticut, old Saybrook, right on the Long Island Sound. Boy, it's beautiful. Shout out to our friends up there. We got a really good friend up there that we sold the horses to. They took us out to eat. Like saying memory of Peter Nero, good customers. He passed away on us this year. Like to give a little shout out to his family, the Neroes up there in Connecticut, Burl around Berlin, super good people, but um, they got a beach house there, and they took us out to eat on um right there in Westbrook, and them lobsters. I don't eat seafood and lobster, but I had a good steak and some good Brussels sprouts. Real good.

SPEAKER_02:

I think I ate some of them Brussels sprouts too. I I like them. Some people say uh Brussels sprouts are nasty, but these were actually pretty good. Victor, you didn't eat some of them. I did a lot. I guess. They were just so good, I yeah, I just had to. It was good. I had to eat more than I had to eat more than one, I'll put that away.

SPEAKER_04:

I'd have to agree with you on that.

SPEAKER_02:

It was it's it's gotta be between them two. Either Hoffe Bell's down there in Palakta or that restaurant up there in Connecticut.

SPEAKER_04:

You know, Connecticut was good to us. We was in um what was that town where we spent the night at the truck stop? I can't remember the name of it. I can't remember either. They say it was a rough part of a rough part of the state. We pulled in there to stay on to go to the truck stop and do laundry. We'd been on the road. We went from Florida all the way up to Maine that trip, and uh we was on the road.

SPEAKER_02:

We pulled into a Love's truck stop to look at We were trying to take showers and everything else because we were nasty and we stunked to high heavens. It was pretty bad. We were trying to do laundry and get washed up, and while he was in there taking his shower, he found this what was it, security guard come up to you?

SPEAKER_04:

You know it's bad when they have security guards at the truck stop.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he that was the security guard there. And he said, Are y'all boys staying the night? He's like, Yeah, we're uh I said we're wanting to if you'll let us park.

SPEAKER_04:

And he said, Well, if you're going to, you got them horses on the trailer, because there's a rule, and Victor might have learned the rule on this trip. If you got horses or mules in the trailer behind you and you gotta stop and sleep, you don't get no motel. You sleep with the horses and mules. And that's just the rule, that's what we do. And we got a big trailer, you know, we didn't have a lot of we didn't have a lot of horses and mules on there.

SPEAKER_02:

We just had four We didn't even have any mules on there, we had two teams.

SPEAKER_04:

Grey poaching pair, we was taken to Maine. Yeah. Belgian pair we took back to Pennsylvania. Yep. And you know, in a 40 foot trailer, you can turn them loose and feed them and water them right in the trailer and it's eight six wide. So it's about just like having a stall for 'em. You know, they can walk around, stretch out, and lay down or whatever. So So that security guard said, Well, if you'll pull right here in front of the gas pumps, right here in the main part of the building, he said, You don't want to be unattended. It's dangerous here. But he said, I'm here all night and I'll watch you and take care of you, get a good night's sleep. That's exactly what we done, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

I didn't I wasn't worried one bit. Worked out good. I fell asleep pretty quick. Then we went to Maine and sold a team of gray purchase. There's some wonderful people up there. Had a good breakfast. He took us out to breakfast. Then we went from there all the way to Topeka, Indiana, straight shop. Yeah, that's right, because we didn't have to go buy horses. But we took our time. We did. Vermont was gorgeous, guys. If you've never been to Vermont, that state is beautiful. The mountains, it's just it's gorgeous up in there. We had a good time. We wish we should have got you a real main lobster though up there on the coast. Probably should've, but it's fine. I'll be up there again sometime. Um We wanted to see my good friend Randy in Portland, but we just couldn't make it work. We had a lot going on, too much going on, really. So but uh it was a lot we had going on, but uh we were trying to get back 'cause when we got back from there we left again and went out west to get old Beaver, Utah.

SPEAKER_02:

It wasn't very long. It wasn't long at all. I think it might have been like what Two or three days. Yeah. And then we were on the road again. 'Cause it we were like, all right, we're gonna wait a little bit before we go on another trip, and then Steven calls me, he's like, Hey, you want to go to Utah? I'm like I guess so. So we loaded everything up and we went to Utah was the Elliot. Yep, with Elliot.

SPEAKER_04:

He was with us and helped us. Yeah. That was an interesting experience. It was. Elliot's a guy that lives local here. He's actually from Washington though, and he moved here to Kentucky, and um he helped us drive some. And Victor was driving it on the way out there. He did the rumble strip a little bit. I guess he was kind of trying to teach Victor to drive or something. He looked at Victor and said, What are you, twelve? And ever since then, that's been an inside joke. When something happens, you say, What are you, twelve? So it's That's what it's all about, oh guys. When you're out on the road, things you things happen, you really you remember every little thing that goes and it's it's really interesting. Then we went me and Victor went again after that trip back west to South.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, no, wait, wait, wait. Let's finish our Utah trip. You didn't tell 'em what all we'd done there. That was pretty good. Going up in the mountains on four wheelers and everything else. That was a blessing.

SPEAKER_04:

We went we rode from we rode five or six hours up a mountain and back. I guess we rode over thirty miles, probably. And we never hit the same trail twice. That was we were up there very much. That was pretty interesting. Shout out to our good friend Ken out there for doing that and taking us. We sure appreciate you. And also, on the way back, we went the south the southern route and went down through the Navajo Reservation, down through New Mexico and Arizona. That was interesting. That was something to see. But after that, me and Victor went back out west to South Dakota to the Custer wagon train. Yep. And that was interesting. That was a good trip. And uh got a speeding ticket on the reservation in Nebraska.

SPEAKER_02:

No, it was it wasn't on the res.

SPEAKER_04:

It wasn't?

SPEAKER_02:

It was right off the res, though.

SPEAKER_04:

I had some good food, Therese. You wouldn't wake up. No, I wouldn't. I was tired. He wouldn't wake up. He was it was about one o'clock morning. And Rocky Mountain Oysters, if y'all don't know what that is. You're missing out if you don't eat them. Dip them bad boys in cocktail sauce, and you got a meal. Victor didn't even eat them. He's he ought to be ashamed, but he didn't need them, so I liked them then.

SPEAKER_02:

I didn't even wake up.

SPEAKER_04:

I couldn't wake you up. You wouldn't wake up.

SPEAKER_02:

He scared he scared the living daylights out of me. I was asleep while he was in there ordering food, and he come and we were writing the rest, and he came and tapped on the window, and I jumped up and I was like, what in the world is going on?

SPEAKER_04:

He thought he was going That was pretty funny now. That was funny.

SPEAKER_02:

But uh oh Lord.

SPEAKER_04:

So we're off the road now. We've been off the road since October, and we're not going back this year, but we got a pretty good schedule next year. A lot of clinics and um a lot of things going on. It's three sixty-five, twenty-four-seven. I sold a horse last Sunday morning at 345 in the morning. From where? The people was here at the cabin. They was from Ohio. We was texting at 345 and made the deal. You gotta, it just we're 24-7 and we devoted our whole life to this. When I started this, when I walked out of my job in 2017 and went full time with this, I said, I'm gonna devote everything I got to it, and I'm gonna work my butt off. And um, that's what I've done. And uh, we're we're 24-7. You need us, you call us. If I don't answer, it's cause I'm dead asleep. But if I hear it, I'll wake up and talk to you. That's just the way it is. And uh we're here for you, we want to earn your business. If you know anybody looking for a draft horse or mule, tell them about us. We'd appreciate it. SPEAKER_02:

We did one for Florida and we did one.

SPEAKER_04:

You done one for me.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that ain't worth nothing.

SPEAKER_04:

You don't like it?

SPEAKER_02:

No, I don't.

SPEAKER_04:

It's on there.

SPEAKER_02:

I guess it is, but I don't really like it.

SPEAKER_04:

But they they can watch it if they want to.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they can. And then I think you did one for South Dakota and I did not. And I don't think anybody did one for Utah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, we did one for South Dakota for sure. A video of all the teams and everything. That was a good, really good. I think that turned out really good.

SPEAKER_02:

Then then we would be sitting at the campfire in the evening. They would ask us to sing because we'd be singing gospel hymns on the trail and driving our team, and everybody loved it, and so then at the evening time, when everybody was just sitting around the campfire, they asked us to sing. So we had to sing for them.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that was fun. And that band that was there, that them older guys played the cowboy music, he came over and played the mandolin. Yeah, that was fun. That was a good time out there. That was good.

SPEAKER_02:

Met a lot of good people.

SPEAKER_04:

A lot of good people. Met our good friend Jamie from Missouri in South Dakota, but she's from Missouri. Yeah. Shout out to Jamie, Victor. Say hello to her. She may be listening, you know.

SPEAKER_02:

No, she could be. Hey, Jamie, if you're listening. We we had a great time with you out there in South Dakota.

SPEAKER_04:

And then we met her and she came all the way here for Herbert.

SPEAKER_02:

She did. She sure enough did with Jay Harris. Or yeah, Jay Harris and Kim?

SPEAKER_04:

Kim Harris and It's a small world, guys. You meet so many friends in this business. Her community is a small tight-knit community, but it's so powerful. You know, we can be going across the country, anywhere in the country. If I have a blowout or I have trouble, I could make a call and bam, I'd have help instantly. Just instantly. So that's just the way it goes. We got a good community. And you're welcome to join it. All you gotta do is get on there on YouTube and subscribe or call us up, let us know. Come to the place. We got a cabin here now. We opened up as the Airbnb right by the barn. Super nice cabin. You all are welcome to come stay at it. Victor, you stayed there. How was it for you?

SPEAKER_02:

It was great. They put me on the couch because there was no beds available, but There's a lot of people wanted to stay there, but no, it was great. The beds I'm saying it was really good.

SPEAKER_04:

First thing you said was they put me on the couch.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, they ain't gonna put everybody else on the couch. There was just a lot of people there, and I was the youngest one there, and so I guess I could say I just gave up the bed because I wanted the older people to have something more comfortable to sleep on.

SPEAKER_04:

Guys, our barbecue event was event was a blast. Three days, action packed, people from all over the country, all over. I had a good friend, well, not a he's a friend now, I didn't know him, he was just a YouTube fan. Flew all the way in from Salinas, California, and gave me his cat roping buckle from 2003. That was cool. And then the belt buckle. And then Mr. Henry Hall from New Hampshire, he drove all the way here. And on YouTube, he always puts on comments. I'm the other Henry. And for y'all that don't know, Henry's my partner in this business, and he always puts on there, I'm the other Henry. And he walked in that door and shook my hand and everything. And he said, Hey Stephen, I'm the other Henry. And I said, I know who you are. It was cool. I met a lot of my YouTube fan people on there. You want to call them fans? We don't need fans, we're not celebrities, but we call them friends, YouTube friends, community, our family. And uh, it was like a YouTube meet and greet all week. It was just, it was wonderful. And we're gonna do the same thing next year, guys. Check the recap video out on our YouTube channel at Haste Draft Horses and Mules. You're always welcome to check that out. Check the website out for upcoming clinics, upcoming events, teams for sale, harness. If you need anything like that, check our website. That's www.drafthorses and mulesforsale.com. You gotta spell out the end. Don't forget that. So we've got a lot of things going. So we sure do. So much going. And uh Victor's trying to learn how to play the guitar or something. He's wanting to learn to play music.

SPEAKER_02:

I want to learn how to play something. Either it's gonna be the mandolin or it's gonna be the guitar, and it's gonna be either one of them. I was trying to play the fiddle, but I figured out that the fiddle is not easy to play.

SPEAKER_04:

So you do have a fiddle, though. Hey, tell that story. Tell the story about the barbecue Saturday night. Oh yeah. Josh Williams come and his friends. Bluegrass music. Josh is amazing.

SPEAKER_02:

If you don't know Josh Williams, he just played the opera not too long ago.

SPEAKER_04:

Five nights ago or so with Ron Da Vincent.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and I sang with him.

SPEAKER_04:

You did?

SPEAKER_02:

I sang with him. That's cool. It is.

SPEAKER_04:

Junior came and played the banjo Junior Williams, and our good old buddy Buck from London came, Buck Mosley, and Steve came from Nashville and played the fiddle, and Mike Englin came from Berea and played the bass.

SPEAKER_02:

I think I seen him. I passed him Buck out there when I was in Corbin on my choir trip. He may have. I think I seen him. Well he lives in London. Corbin's just a crow's hop away from London.

SPEAKER_04:

But tell him what tell him about your fiddle and what happened at the time.

SPEAKER_02:

So I get this call from Steven and it sounds pretty urgent. So and he sounds pretty stressed. And I was like, Alright, well, what's going on? He's like, he's like, Victor, I need your help, like, really, really, really bad. I was like, what do you need? He's like, go home and get your fiddle bow and and bring it. He said, because the guy that had the fiddle, I forget his name, Steve, he forgot his fiddle. And not his fiddle, he forgot his bow. And so they played with my bow at the barbecue. And that was that's pretty cool. It was. And what good's a fiddle without a bow? Yeah. Gotta have a bow. You gotta have a bow. So I I was glad I was able to help them out because if not, we wasn't gonna be able to have a uh fiddle player.

SPEAKER_04:

Then Friday night we had Zachariah Smith from American Iope. He was really good. And then Thursday night, Miss Emily Woodhull from Virginia came.

SPEAKER_02:

If you don't know her, she actually she actually went on a uh wagon ride with us. She did, yep. Yep.

SPEAKER_04:

That was cool. Tell them about the wagon train. Which one? The big one Saturday.

SPEAKER_01:

I think I done did with them going to going for my farm.

SPEAKER_02:

I think that yeah. But so we Henry was thinking about trying to find a like a woodsy area, you know, more scenic instead of like on the road and stuff and kind of go through the woods and see more scenery of Casey County. And he's like, Hey Victor, I know you got that farm back there. I was like, Yeah, what about it? He's like, Do you care if we if we take a wagon train through there? I was like, sure, I don't care one bit. I gotta I gotta uh make sure I don't own that farm, so I had to make sure it was okay with the guy that I I leased it from, and he's like, Yeah, sure, go ahead. You're allowed to have anybody you want to go through there on any wagons or whatever. He said, I have no problem whatsoever. I was like, okay, great. So I told Henry, and there was one place in my trail that wasn't the best, so we got some gravel and fixed that, and so it was good. And then there was some trees that were too low, and so my grandpa, sixty-four years old, I asked him because I was busy doing other stuff and I didn't have time to do it, and I was like, Hey, do you think you can go and try to you know clean up this trail? He's like, I guess I can sew it. Sixty-four years old he went out there, and at sixty-four years old he went out there and cleaned that trail up for that wagon train by himself. And so he took the wagon train through there, they went back there by my barn, and we got two old silos, and actually one thing that's really cool on that place is my cobblestone bridge. I never seen it. I got a cobblestone bridge, it's an arch bridge. Well uh back there, and you have to cross it to get to my barn. Is it on the video? I think so.

SPEAKER_04:

I never even noticed it. I guess didn't pay it close enough attention.

SPEAKER_02:

I guess not. Must not care that much.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, but he's trying, he's trying to make you all feel sorry for him, I think. But don't feel sorry for him. Don't feel sorry for him. But no, we've had a good year, guys. And uh we're gonna try to get you some more podcasts the rest of this year. We really are. I'm gonna try to start on that next week. SPEAKER_02:

He helps me out, like I ain't got the smartness to be trying to figure out good thumbnails and everything else, so he helps me out with some of the editing and 90% of my thumbnails. 90%, I'd say a hundred and well, there's like maybe three videos that I done, so I'll give you 90%. Yeah. 93. 93, yeah. Yeah, 93. Nah, we're just jumping like you're doing good.

SPEAKER_04:

You're done. You're trying. You're doing good. Hey, at least if you got a YouTube channel, you're trying. A lot of people don't.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

It took forever. I've had people telling me, you need to start a YouTube channel, you need to start a YouTube channel. It's like, no, I ain't got time to go and, you know, video and ed and everything else like that. And I mean, I like it, but I was just like, I don't know, I don't know. And then just one day I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna what what's gonna hurt? So I went and started it. Now I think I'm over 250 subscribers. Okay over the summer. I think you've done it to try to get a girlfriend myself, but done it to get a girlfriend? Yep. I don't know how that would have helped.

SPEAKER_04:

Some girl might see you on YouTube and get you get a girlfriend.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, you kinda gotta look good to get a girlfriend, Stephen.

SPEAKER_04:

He's available, he's looking for a girlfriend. Yeah, he's in the market. He don't need no girlfriend. But I guess he'd take the right one. He's just seventeen. He's got more school. Yeah. School and hopefully go to college like I told him to, but I don't know if he's gonna listen or not.

SPEAKER_02:

And that's another thing. A lot of people want me to go to college too, but I don't know about it.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, you should probably pretty wild. He should. He just got all choir. What's it called?

SPEAKER_02:

Allstate or all No, we didn't go to All State yet. We didn't my school ain't got the funds to send me to Allstate. I could have made it, but I went to the district, our district choir, SKMA choir, and there was all different kind of high it was a high school honors choir, and you had to audition to get in it, and there was all kinds of people from all over the our district of Kentucky and got together Sunday night and a lot of people didn't know their music at all. And then uh we sectioned off to like our bass, tenor, sopranos and altos and practiced our our music separated. Monday morning we got up and went to a really good Central Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky. Beautiful place, beautiful sanctuary. They had a they were awesome taking us on and allowing us to be there at that church and we sang and we barely knew our music by Sunday night and we performed Tuesday night and it was a pretty good it was a pretty good it was a pretty good concert. You liked it. Yeah, I took my cowboy hat with me and they said you can't wear it in the sanctuary, but I get that. But them girls, I tell you what, they seen that cowboy hat, they were on me like a duck on a june bug.

SPEAKER_04:

You think it was the hat?

SPEAKER_02:

Oh yeah, oh yeah, that hat got them all the attention. It must not have been my looks, it had been my hat because I got the looks. It may have been the truck. Yeah, yeah. Could have been the truck. It could have been too. I think it was kind of part of my outfits I had in the truck together. It was the truck. It probably was just the truck. They uh they they don't like me. You know, you gotta kinda Stephen, you know, you gotta kinda gotta have the looks, you know, to get a girl.

SPEAKER_04:

Guys, you see what I'm dealing with? Pray for me. I appreciate it.

SPEAKER_02:

They don't need yeah, everybody needs prayers, but I'm not I'm not that bad. At least I don't think I am, anyhow.

SPEAKER_04:

We're gonna end this with that one. And guys, now we just wanted to come on and let you all know we're still here. Don't don't forget us. We're hanging with you.
