A Touch of Class

In this episode of A Touch of Class, Will Griffith sits down with Claremorris Golf Club, the newly crowned 2025 Pierce Purcell All‑Ireland Champions. Joining the conversation are Captain Derek Reilly and team members Tom Fanning Jnr, Rossa Higgins, and Martin Murphy, who take us through their unforgettable journey to national glory.
Their campaign began with a tough opening match against long‑time rivals Castlebar, followed by four more hard‑fought wins that secured the Connacht pennant in Athlone. As luck would have it, the All‑Ireland Finals were also held in Athlone - giving Claremorris a familiar setting and a small edge in preparation.
But nothing comes easy at this level. To lift the trophy, they still had to win three more matches, delivering brilliant victories over Jameson Links in the quarter‑final, Tramore in the semi‑final, and finally overcoming a strong Cushendall side in a gripping final.
The lads share the highs, the nerves, the momentum swings, and even a moment of “A Touch of Class” from a Tramore member along the way. A fantastic story of teamwork, belief, and a club achieving something truly special.
