Organic Church Season 2 Episode 28

Send us a text

Everything changes when we understand the power of God's truth in our lives. This transformative episode explores how the belt of truth—the first piece of spiritual armor mentioned in Ephesians 6—provides the foundation for standing firm against the enemy's schemes.

When Satan tries to wear us down with his tactics, we need both divine strength and supportive friends who can "hold our arms up" like Aaron did for Moses during battle. Our effectiveness depends on developing consistent spiritual habits: dedicated prayer time, personal Bible study, and meditation in God's presence. These practices prepare us for the day's battles and reveal God's perfect will for our lives.

The Holy Spirit—often relegated to the background of our theological understanding—emerges here as the central figure in our pursuit of truth. As the Spirit of Truth, He guides, illuminates Scripture, and brings revelation that transforms the written word into living reality for our specific situations. When we ask Him to "enlighten this word to me," He brings forth a living, breathing "rhema" word tailored to our needs.

Perhaps most powerful is the segment on knowing our identity in Christ. We are chosen, anointed, righteous, forgiven, powerful, valued, and unconditionally loved. When we understand and declare these truths over our lives, we come into agreement with heaven, changing the atmosphere around us. This knowledge creates unshakable confidence against spiritual attacks.

Your words become weapons in spiritual warfare. Life and death truly reside in the power of your tongue. When you speak God's truth rather than negative phrases, you strengthen your spiritual armor. The enemy wants you silent, but God calls you to boldness.

Ready to transform your spiritual journey? Listen now and discover how to secure your belt of truth—the foundation for victory in every battle you face.

Speaker 1:

and then Satan comes in with his tactics and his schemes and he tries to wear us down and wear us out. That's when you say Thank you, god, for my true, true God-believing friends, just like Aaron. Sometimes we need somebody to come along and hold our arms up because the enemy has wore us out to a point where we can no longer do that ourselves. Amen, amen. So you know we have to change our habits. You know we're all kind of habit creatures, right, but like our prayers, you know we need to set that time apart with God. I don't know if it's in the morning, if it's in the afternoon, I don't know how you do it, but I like to seek him early, I like to be in his presence early. Then I'm prepared for the day.

Speaker 1:

You know, do you have a Bible study? Do you set time apart to study God's Word? You say, well, I don't know how to study God's Word. Well, you find your scripture. Let's see, let's find something here. Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. That's something to study. Well, what is the will of the Lord concerning me? Then you get in the Bible, you go to your concordance and you start studying that out. You write it down and then, after you get that all together, you say, oh, that is the will of God, his perfect will for my life. That's how you study. That's how I study. I might have eight books all over the table.

Speaker 1:

Dave's like what are you doing? I'm studying, right, because I want different translations, I want to see it different ways. I want to get it a way that I understand it. What I understand, anita, you might not understand. Can you go away? And what you understand, you might not understand. I can't go to it, you can't go to it. And what you understand, dave might not understand. So you know we're all learning differently. Don't always trust Mr Google.

Speaker 2:

He's not always right.

Speaker 1:

Understanding and applying God's truth. Just like I just said, we need to engage in a Bible study like this stuff that I teach you. You write those notes down, go home and study that out. What if I got it wrong? What if I missed a scripture? Will you just take my word for it?

Speaker 1:

Number two pray regularly. Seek God's face. You know what happens when you seek his face. You're seeking his perfect will. Number two pray regularly. Seek God's face. You know what happens when you seek his face. You're seeking his perfect will. Be obedient. Study the commandments of God. Seek to live in a way that pleases him and let the scriptures be revealed in your life. When people see you walk and talk and move, and let them see the scriptures in your life Like, the joy of the Lord is my strength. Let people see that. Let people see his word actively alive in us. Let people see his word actively alive in us. Make choices that align with God's truth. You know, I don't even know if any of this is just Just say.

Speaker 1:

Some friends come over they say, hey, we're going to go out and have supper. You want to go with us? Oh, yeah, we're going to go. Where are we going? Oh, we're going to go up to Applebee's and they all walk in and they all head to set at the bar. Well, guess where I'm not setting? I'm not setting in the bar area, I'm not setting on them high stools. I'm not being in that atmosphere. I'm sorry, guys, but I'm not being in that atmosphere. I'm sorry guys, but I'm not comfortable sitting here. You think we can sit up here at this table? I don't have to be mean, I don't have to be hateful, I don't have to be nothing. I'll just be me. I'm not comfortable with that. You were a witness that could change somebody's life forever. Amen, amen.

Speaker 1:

So we have to make good choices, being disciplined. We don't always like that, do we? We have to be disciplined and listen to what God tells us and walk the walk and talk the talk and be an example of Christ. That's what we're supposed to be An example of Christ in every area of our life, like in worship. There are many in this sanctuary and many sanctuaries. They don't know about worshiping God. They're not comfortable with singing, raising their hand. It might even be hard for them to do a little toe tap. But us that are seasoned, we can help lead them into worship. We can give God adoration and gratitude and people can see that is God's Word actively alive in us, fasting. This can deepen our spiritual awareness and cause us to have a deeper dependency on God.

Speaker 1:

Meditation, engaging on a quiet reflection with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit I love that. I love meditating. I call it soaking. Since I have retired I've nearly soaked every morning. I've got soaked every morning. I've got nearly a whole little book full of scriptures and notes and revelations. So if you get the opportunity, take that time to soak in his presence. Put on some nice Christian music and get a pen and a paper and just rest in him and I'm telling you he will just flow through you like water, that cleansing water from Psalms 23. Let it flow over you and cleanse you of all the ungodliness that is around us and so easily sucks us in.

Speaker 1:

When we have the belt of truth, we live in honesty and integrity. I love to have both of those words in action in my life when I live in honesty and walking in integrity. You know, when you're at the grocery store and you've got a load of groceries and you hop in your car and take off and leave the cart setting, that's not very good integrity. We need to take five seconds and put the. I know when I used to work oh, you've got to be kidding me I'd get in the car and the Holy Spirit would say forget something. I did forget something. I knew I'd forget something, but I'd get out, put the cart because somewhere, someway, somebody was like uh-oh, there's Pastor Holly. She didn't put her cart back. I mean for sure I would hear about that. Right, that's integrity. When you're at the grocery store and they ring everything up and you know it needs to be $10 more and something gets overlooked I'm sorry, I think you forgot to ring that up that's integrity. When somebody tells you something and they say, please, I'm asking you not to say a word to nobody and all you do is bend on God, that's integrity. So when you have the belt of truth and you're tightened up with God, you're going to operate in these things so easy, because you and Him are a unit.

Speaker 1:

Forgiveness towards yourself and towards others, because our God is the God who forgives. And the moment you say, father, forgive me, for I have sinned against you and your kingdom, I'm telling you he wads that up like a great big piece of paper and he throws it into the sea of forgetfulness and he never, ever looks at it. He'll never bring that back up to you because it is forgiven. And if his tender mercies are new every day shown to us like that, shouldn't that be our heart towards others? And I know people hurt us, I know that. But when we forgive, forget and let go and let God, we are free from that bondage. It might be something you have to do for ten years, god. I choose to forgive and I choose to forget, and I choose to let go Every day, every day, every day, until one day it don't hurt no more. You might still think about it, but it don't hurt no more. You might still think about it, but it don't hurt no more.

Speaker 1:

Seeking truth and relationship, upholding honesty and trustfulness in all relations, both personal and professionally, both personal and professionally, and so just allowing that spirit of truth to flow. Do you ever get yourself in that position? Or you get in that position and you're just getting questions fired at you, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom like a machine gun. And all of a sudden you're just like thinking I don't know nothing about this, and right there you get caught up in not being truthful, but it's because of the peer pressure that comes at you. So it's a lot easier to say no, I don't know nothing about that, than it is to sit. You need to pop her a bit of his mask. Yeah, that must have really been a good one, huh? So I don't even know what I was saying.

Speaker 1:

So, learning God's truth through studying and reflecting on the Bible, and you know, god is not a man that he should lie. He would never lie. Anything you ever convey to him, he would never tell. I remember one time I was picking Holly up from school and I was walking across the parking lot and I was just really struggling about you know, do we all have ghosts in our closets somewhere? There's a ghost somewhere and I was really struggling. God already knew, but there is something about us being obedient and laying it out there and I'm telling you in the most like it wasn't a voice, it wasn't a thought, it was a knowing. And he said, holly, I would never, never tell your deepest heart issues, never. So he don't tell on us, because he's almighty God. He's not a man that he should lie. He's a man that we can trust above anybody in this whole wide world universe. He's the one you can trust, trusting God's word, seeking God's word, seeking God's word, his spoken word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

I love the Holy Spirit, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I know everybody knows a lot about God, they know a lot about the Son, but the Holy Spirit he's kind of pushed off to the wayside. And any time in God's Word you see the word Spirit, it's talking about the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and the Spirit of truth will set you free. But see, the enemy comes in lying, tries to tell you that that's not true. But it is the Holy Spirit. He guides us into truth and it allows this word to become life.

Speaker 1:

You say Holy Spirit, enlighten this word to me when I read it and he will bring you a rhema word, a life-flowing word every time. Holy Spirit, show me revelation of what I read. Holy Spirit, guide me, lead me, direct me. What part of the Word should I be reading? That's the Spirit of truth, because maybe in you there is a place that needs to get freed up, it's bound, and you ask the Holy Spirit to show that to you. And where could I read in the Word Father to find that freedom and the Holy Spirit will lead you.

Speaker 1:

The Holy Spirit wants you to know who you are in Christ, and I know we go over that. For 25 years this has been the word I've preached. Who you are in Christ, you're the head and not the tail. You're above only and not beneath, blessed coming in and blessed going out. You are accepted in the beloved. You are victorious. You are accepted in the beloved. You are victorious. You are an overcomer, you are worthy, you are loved. I think the biggest piece of the armor that we have to operate in is love, because love overcomes a multitude of sin. Christ is all love, god is all love. So wouldn't that be the weapon we should use? Is love, especially to that person that don't like you? That's the one we really should love.

Speaker 1:

In John 14, 17, jesus promises that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, will guide believers and dwell within them John 16, 13. Here Jesus further explains that the Spirit of truth will guide believers into all truth, not speaking on his behalf, but revealing what he has heard and what is to come. John 15, 26,. The Holy Spirit will and testifying about Jesus and reveals God's truth. Isn't that? Is that just kind of fascinating About the spirit of truth? I've seen it time after time. When the spirit of truth comes in a situation, you are set free from that bondage. I've experienced it in my life. The Holy Spirit is not just a passive witness of truth. He actively reveals and illuminates God's truth to believers, helping them understand the word and how to apply it. Put that belt of truth on, tighten it up, tighten up your relationship with God.

Speaker 1:

The Holy Spirit guides to understand scriptures, to discern God's will and living in accountants with his purpose. You know each and every one of us. God created us with a purpose. We all I don't know what your purpose is Seek God's face. What is my purpose, lord? What is my purpose, lord? Purpose, lord, spending time in God's Word to learn His truth and His principles, so core beliefs in our lives and our relationships. You know the principles of God. Love God, have love. The principles of God. Love God, have love for others, trust God, confess and repent, living with integrity and joy, living righteously. I love, I love this, I love this scripture. It's Romans 14, 17. Righteousness, joy, peace and the Holy Ghost. So when we are righteous and righteousness, we're in right standings with God. Do you love that, that we are in right standings with God? Do you love that that we are in right standings with God?

Speaker 1:

Joy Abiding, sense of happiness, having contentment, Not depending on our circumstances to make us happy, because my circumstances, anita, they ain't going to make me happy, they aren't. I know that Ain't Aren't, they aren't going to make me happy, they aren't. I know that Ain't Aren't Going to make me happy. But the fruit of the Spirit abiding in me, finding joy even in the most difficult times, that's the Holy Spirit. See, it's the fruit of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit Having peace, that path is all understanding. Have you ever experienced that when it just seems like life crumbled, the floor fell out from under you, but yet you got the peace that paths us all understanding. You have a spirit of peace, shalom. That's the Holy Spirit that brings us that peace, that comfort. You know, christ says I must leave you for a while, but I will send you another to come up beside you. The Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit, he's our conscience. And when that day comes, when we are all called up to heaven and we leave our earthly bodies, that's what's going to leave. The earth is the Holy Spirit, and that is why things are going to get so horrible, because there won't be a spirit of truth on the earth.

Speaker 1:

Trusting in God's promises, having faith in God's truth, knowing that he will uphold every one of His promises I think of all the promises that I've stood on in Dave and I's life and he's never failed me, never, not once. Having confidence in God's power. When Dave got hurt and his pelvic was shattered and his femur was nearly pushed through his back, that was a time of shaking your faith, but I believed in the promise that God had given me three weeks before that. Count it all joy, count it all joy, count it all joy. Did I understand that? No, but I believed in God's promises.

Speaker 1:

So we have to have that confidence in Christ, just like I've told you a hundred times, just like you're sitting on those chairs. That's the confidence you have in Christ. Is that chair holding you? You're worried about it falling out from under you? No, so our confidence needs to be more than that in Christ In every situation. Do I understand what's going on right now? I do not, but I am confident in the one whom I believeth and I think another, I think another real important to be able to gird up, put your belt tight, stand, and when you've done all but stand, excuse me, stand some more. You do that by knowing who you are in Christ, she says. On her little face.

Speaker 1:

It says I am grateful, I am secure, I am forgiven, I am powerful, I am valued, I am kind, I am a conqueror, I am loved, I am fearless, I am limitless, I am trustworthy, I am limitless, I am trustworthy, I am a fighter. And, christ, with my whole armor on, I am a fighter. I'm not going down without a good fight. And I'm not going down because, my Christ, I have a firm foundation, a bedrock of faith. How did you get those? Oh, thank you. And so I'm just going to share with you here from the back of this book. These are scriptures.

Speaker 1:

It says God knew exactly what he was doing when he magnificently how do you say that word? Magnificently, magnificently yeah, I'm going to forget it. You are magnificent. Well, forget it. You are magnificent Designed your spirit, your soul and your body. He gave each and every one of you a unique talent, a beautiful personality and a purpose. We were created to feel safe. We were created to feel safe. We were created to feel secure. We were created to be confident and he built each one of those qualities in each one of us Because it is our DNA of Christ. As born-again believers, you are valued, you are accepted, you are loved unconditionally by Jesus Christ. So Romans 15, 17 says so. Romans 15 17 says I have received a gift of righteousness and reign as a king in my life, jesus Christ. So if I have received a gift of righteousness, I am in right standings with the king right.

Speaker 1:

Ephesians 1, 17 and 18. I have received a spirit of wisdom and revelation. In the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the eyes of my understanding is enlightened. Do you know what it means to be enlightened? I'm enlightened to what God's Word is saying to me. I'm enlightened to know how to operate in the armor of God. I'm enlightened as the fruits of the Spirit working within me. I am enlightened. That's something to study.

Speaker 1:

Ephesians 1. I think it starts in about 14. And that goes on to say that give me a second that I would know the hope of his calling on my life Mark 16, 17, and 18, and Luke 10, 17, and 19. I have received power of the Holy Spirit to lay hands on the sick and see them recovered, to cast out demons, to speak with new tongues. I have power over all the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt me. Now that's scripture. That's who I am in Christ. That's who you are in Christ. You say I don't know how to lay hands on people and you just start praying for people. And you just start praying for people and seeking God's wisdom in your life. Colossians 3, 9 and 10. This is Dave's favorite scripture when he first got saved.

Speaker 1:

I have put off the old man. That old man is dead, buried and gone. I have put on the new man, jesus Christ, which is renewed in the knowledge after the image of him. Who created me, who created Dave, that old man. Before I come to the altar and ask Jesus into my heart, that old man rode and reigned in me. But from the moment I gave my heart to Christ, that old man's dead. Now am I going to trip and tremble? I might, but I'll repent and I'll ask God to change me and help me get back on track.

Speaker 1:

But that new man came alive in me when I first got filled with the Holy Ghost and with the evidence of speaking in tongues. The tears I don't know where they all came from, I cried and I cried and I cried and I cried and it was just like Jesus' love is bubbling over Jesus' love. I mean it was powerful, but I had. And it was just like Jesus' love is bubbling over Jesus' love. I mean it was powerful, but I had seeked it, I wanted it, I desired to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongue. So if you don't have that, that is where the power of God dwells, is in our prayer language. That's all authority, all power. And so you know, of course the enemy is going to keep people from having that, because you don't know what to pray for, than you pray in the Spirit, because the Spirit knows and it goes directly to the heavenlies.

Speaker 1:

It's exciting to me Luke 6.38. I have given and it is given to me. I say this every Sunday Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, men, give into my bosom. That's like, do you want that? I have given and it is given to me. Good measure, god's word, in good measure, press down, shaking it and running over. Amazing to me. I love it, I love it and so know who you are in Christ, and don't be afraid to say it. Don't be afraid to say who you are in Christ, because that kind of you know, monday night in the women's group, that's what we taught them was the spirit of intimidation. Well, that's definitely a scheme and a trick and all those things to make us feel like we're not worthy. But God says we are, and so I have. Where would I? Let me think a minute, let me look about something, because our homework. I want to go over that with you. Okay, I got it, I'm back.

Speaker 1:

So I put up here, read this out loud and declare over your life every day. Now you know what happens when you declare, you come in agreement with heaven. When you make a declaration, you're coming into agreement with heaven, and that changes the atmosphere. So I am chosen, anointed and appointed for this season, jeremiah. Now I'm going to give you one of these, jeremiah 1.5. I do not shrink back in fear. I walk in boldness. I am not alone. God has surrounded me with people who will run with me. That's exciting. I lack nothing. I lack not one good thing in my life. God has already given me everything I need. I am stepping into my calling with power, purpose and clarity. Calling with power, purpose and clarity.

Speaker 1:

Your words are one of your greatest weapons. If you're talking right, if you're not talking right, then your words defeat you. Do you believe that? You know, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. That's not good. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. What's some other stuff we say? I heard all over that just kills me. Don't say that. Yeah, that just kills me. Oh, say that, yeah, that just kills me. Oh, I just love you to death. That's not good. You know, I love you with the love of the Lord.

Speaker 1:

You know, I make a dessert. The real name of it is death by chocolate, but I call it life by chocolate. I'm not putting death on anybody. It's life by chocolate, but I call it life by chocolate. I'm not putting death on anybody, it's life by chocolate. Angel eggs, yeah and just. You know every little and you catch yourself.

Speaker 1:

I shouldn't have said that. You know I hate this. No, hate is a very strong word. I could strongly dislike it, but that's a hard, harsh word hate. And so your words are one of your greatest weapons. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. The enemy wants you to stay silent, doubtful and afraid. Put the whole armor of God on and be in power for the kingdom of God, amen. So I'm going to give you a little copy. Say that every day. Be bold. His word says Come before his throne, as you ought, with boldness. Be bold like the lion. We are lionists and lions, you know. Let the lion roar Do that in your study time. I'll hand this out to you in just a minute. So I think we're going to wrap it up. It's almost 7 o'clock. Hope it blessed your heart. Hope you got a revelation. I hope that you know that your prayers conquer the schemes of the enemy.

Speaker 1:

Father, god, we just thank you and praise you and glorify you. Lord, we're just so blessed to be in the house tonight, father. We thank you, father, that we all learned to tighten up our belts, to get closer to you in every area of our life. Father, I ask you to bless those that come out tonight. Father, give them traveling mercies on their way home. And, lord, I just thank you and praise you to keep us all safe and protected until we meet again.

Speaker 1:

Lord, and I just want to lift up Ray to you, father, I ask you to breathe the breath of life into his lungs. I thank you, lord, that his heart you would restore the strength to his heart, lord and Father, that you would just bless Teresa and Father, I just thank you and praise you that you are just with them. For anybody else in this house, lord, that doesn't feel well or haven't issues, I just ask you to bless them. Bless Sivera, father. Let the fever come down to 98.6,. Father. I thank you, lord, that you just bless her in every area of her life. In the mighty name of Jesus, and everyone says Amen. I'm going to have Sis play this song real quick and then we'll be ready to go. I got him Just a minute.

Speaker 2:

I'll get it how many times can you hear the same light before you start to believe it?

Speaker 2:

The enemy keeps whispering to me swear. These days, it's all that I'm hearing. I used to know who I was. Now I look in the mirror and I'm not so sure. Lord, I don't want to listen to the lies anymore.

Speaker 2:

The truth is, I am my father's child. I make him proud and I make him smile. I was made in the image of a perfect king. He looked at me and wouldn't change a thing. The truth is, I am truly loved by a God who's good when I'm not good enough. I don't belong to the lies, I belong to you, and that's the truth. When I feel like there's so much noise Living rent-free in my head, heaven finds me in a still small voice and it sounds like grace. Instead, you remind me who I am when I look in the mirror and I'm not so sure. Lord, I don't want to listen to the lies anymore.

Speaker 2:

The truth is, I am my father's child. I make him proud and I make him smile. I was made in the image of a perfect king. He looks at me and wouldn't change a thing. The truth is, I am truly loved by a God who's good when I'm not good enough. I don't belong to the lies. I belong to you, and that's the truth. I know who I am, cause I know who you are and I hold your truth inside of my heart. I know the lies are always gonna try and find me, but I've never been so sure. The truth is, I am my father's child. I make him proud and I make him smile. I was made in the image of a perfect king. He looks at me and wouldn't change a thing. The truth is, I am truly loved by a God who's good when I'm not good enough. I don't belong to the lights. I belong to you, I belong to you and that's the truth. And that's the truth, thank you.
