During Operation Villain, the 2nd Battalion, 509th PIR conducted the first combat parachute assault in the history of the U.S. Army in Algeria, as part of a larger action of Operation Torch. But the lead up to their jump was fraught with poor planning, a rush to deploy, and was followed up by a series of almost too-crazy-to-believe events after they made their jump. In this episode we'll examine all of it, plus a look at some unique personalities that were part of the process that led to their deployment, plus the fall out from that combat action. Enjoy!
