Arsenic, Murder, and East Side Legends

It starts with a mild headache and an upset stomach. Your throat is dry, suddenly very tight,. Within an only 30 minutes, a victim will start to exhibit symptoms of arsenic poisoning. Soon you'll be violent ill, and if too much is ingested, you'll meet your end. It is odorless and undetectable. Death from arsenic poisoning can only be determined by medical examination of hair follicles. Back in the 18 hundreds, arsenic was very available. It was used to get rid of a variety of pets, rats, mice, and in this case, husbands Hello neighbors. This is Lisa from the Greater East Side District Two Community Council. Are you ready for a few more nightmares? This year's nightmare on Ivy Street will be a series of episodes that dives into the story of Anne Lansky. An East side gal, who shall we say, took care of her moody and deeply indebted husband. Shortly after Minnesota became a state using arsenic, she was the first and only woman to receive the death penalty in the state and yet proclaimed her innocence until literally the very end. Join us in this story of Anne, her husband, and her special friend. See how this story connects to another similar tale of a black widow from North Carolina.
