A Burned Handprint from Purgatory

A nun dies—and days later, her voice is heard again.
In this episode, we recount a striking account from Catholic tradition: a Franciscan sister appears after death, describing her suffering in purgatory and leaving behind a burned handprint on a convent door. Her message is clear and sobering.
What does the Catholic Church teach about purgatory? Why must even forgiven sins still be purified? And how should we respond in our own spiritual lives?
This story invites us to take sin seriously, to embrace penance, and to trust in God’s mercy. Through Confession, the Eucharist, prayer, fasting, and works of mercy, we participate in the purification God desires for every soul.
