SPEAKER_02On his 7th birthday, I felt a lump, and uh the next day I went for an ultrasound. Then I found out that I am diagnosed with cancer. I had to go through MRI, I had to go through city scans, I had to go through so many tests, and I had to go through 32 chemotherapies. My body was shattering into pieces altogether. My emotions were shattering into pieces. I was breaking down as a mother. I thought I have already lost as a mother. That was very hard time for me because what I was thinking that if I die tomorrow, what my kids are going to suffer from.
SPEAKER_01Hi there, purple seekers. Welcome to the Becoming Blueprint. We invite you to engage with us on social media as we talk about the becoming conference, and this is definitely the season for you to walk in your divine purpose. Everything that God has called you to do in the earth, this is your season to unlock that. And we pray that as you do that, you will see that level of growth, and everything in your life will show that level of productivity. And we pray that as you're on your transformation journey, that you'll also share it with someone. The Becoming Blueprint sits at the intersection of identity, faith, growth, and execution. And so we're tapping into the Becoming Conference 2026. It's almost here, guys. You don't want to miss it. Come out in your incredible colors, but not even just that. I mean, invite a friend, share with somebody, purchase a ticket, sponsor somebody online because you want everybody to be in the room. But more importantly, we want you to come so that you can be a part of this glory, that's so that you can be a part of what God is doing in this season, so that you can go to your next level and tap into it. It's halfway into the year. So many persons have given up already. But we decree and we declare that wherever you are weary, that he will strengthen you. Wherever things are not working out, we decree and we declare that there is divine settlement and there is smoothness. We decree and we declare that you go forward ever and backward never. No, nothing by any means, it shall not harm you. We decree and we declare that there is protection round about you, and that the Lord will send his angels to encamp round about you. We decree and we declare that everything that is in your atmosphere as per this time and season, we nullify it, we trample it onto our under our feet because God has given us the authority to do just that. And so, everyone, I pray that you will just go to your next level, that you'll be unlocked into purpose. And I know that I was so passionate in sharing, and we're talking and praying everything in one, and we just want to round that up in Jesus' name. But it is important for you to go to your next level, and we want to see you there, so please make it your endeavor to be a part of it. I'll be releasing my book, A Fall from Grace, Finding Purpose in the Pit, and you don't want to miss my incredible transformational story that I know will bless persons locally, regionally, and internationally because God has been faithful unto us and we will testify. SPEAKER_02Alhamdulillah, I'm doing amazing, Akeelah. Thank you so much for so much inspiring intro. That was amazing. And um, yes, I think whatever comes from within is always a change. And I believe the change which came to my life is an experience of lifetime. I have changed myself and I'm willing to change others.
SPEAKER_01In order for us to see that change, we have to first be the change because it all starts with self and then we spread that to others. So I'm in agreement with that. She's here today to take us on a journey from survival to self-mastery. So it is reclaiming life after adversity. So many of us we go through so many things, and life gives us some really good slaps. So some persons admit it and some won't. But she's here today. But I just wanted to tell us to our viewers, those who are watching and those who are listening, you've gone through so much. But before we get into your background, just tell us what would you say was one defining moment that really helped you to garner the strength that you have today.
SPEAKER_02Well, I had two. One is my son, who is who was a neurodivergent child. He was hearing in bed, and I was his only caregiver. His father was supporting us financially, but morally, physically, I was with him all the time. So the willingness which came all together in me was that as a mother, I have a responsibility of him, and um I have to fulfill it till my last dream. And another one was the purpose of life. I have been living as a daughter, I have been living as a wife, I have been living as a mother. But was I really a Husama? Who wanted to be somebody, who wanted to be an identity of her own. Apart from being a daughter and a wife, where am I standing right now? So that purpose was something which actually sparkled like something inside out, and um, that made me live basically the bonus life which I got was because I had kids, I have a daughter and a son, and I had myself, I wanted to make myself my own priority, and I wanted to be a leader, a leader in me, which was something like every woman should have it. So that was a genuine spark, I think, which motivated me more.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. Thank you for sharing that, and that is so true. We take on so many roles, and I believe that so much is expected from us as women, some fairly so, some aren't fairly so. But through it all, it's important for us as individuals to find ourselves in the midst of that, and beyond the titles, who am I? So that's definitely something as it relates to identity. But before we even got to the woman that you are today and the woman that you will be, take us back to your childhood. What were those formative years like?
SPEAKER_02My journey actually started from 2013 when my firstborn was um in this world, that was the best day of my life, basically. But after the months passed, my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and uh because I was very young, I I was married when I was 18 at 18 and a half, like or around 19. So my firstborn was born when I was like in my early 20s, so I had no idea how to raise a child. Obviously, we need a mother's always by eyeside. I had to go through a lot, like I was taking care of my house, I was taking care of my mother's house, my siblings, my newborn, and a lot of many emotions which were going inside me because you know this is very um difficult time when we find out that our parents are going through a crucial disease. So um basically the journey started and it was going on. My alumdulallah, my mother is doing well now. My son was diagnosed with hearing impairment when he was nine months. And that time my body was shattering into pieces altogether. My emotions were shattering into pieces, I was bringing. Down as a mother. I thought I have already lost as a mother. I am not a good mother because I did not take care of myself while pregnancy, and I did not take care of my son when he was born. But it was not true actually, it was all my negative thoughts which was overtaking me, and that was a time when I let those negative thoughts overtake me, and those negative emotions overtake my feelings, limited beliefs, and then I started a journey as a mother, a journey of a fighter, actually. I took my son to every therapist, I took my son to every ENT specialist. If you go back to 2013, it was not that enhanced programs for uh hearing impairment and everything. Based more likely in Pakistan, it was not that highlighted program actually. So everybody was like, no, he is deaf, put him into a special school and let the special. But I I wanted to take this opportunity as a mother and give him a space to at least talk, at least hear. So when COVID came, I'll cut it to short with this journey. When COVID started, everything was like it was a global lockdown, and um my son's school was stopped, my son's therapies were stopped. He was not trained to sit online and do it, he was not trained in a way, he was trained in a physical position, and he was also trained in a physical manner, so that was uh more heartbreaking sessions for me because he was all the time at home and everything was back to back coming on him, his age was growing, obviously, he was not learning much. I tried making him learn more and more on my own, but I was not in a trained specialist, obviously. So, right after COVID starts, I mean, like in 2020, it was the last day of um December, and it obviously my son is a uh New Year baby, so it's it was his seventh birthday, I remember. So uh on his seventh birthday, I felt a lump, and uh the next day I went for an ultrasound, and there and then I found out that I am diagnosed with cancer. I was very young at that time, like I was not even 30, so they were not able to have my mammography done. Memography is usually done after 36 here in Pakistan mostly. So it was like um I had to go through ultrasound, and the ultrasound suggested me for a biopsy. Like, you know, if I went for the ultrasound around 1 o'clock, I had to get done my biopsy around 3 o'clock. So that was the only point of time because my lump was growing, and that was a serious issue. So it was like um I went to the surgeon, and surgeon just pressed that part, and surgeon said that I we have to go for the biopsy. I had to go for a few medical tests, which was like COVID at that time, COVID test, and um it was uh blood test, a normal blood test, which we call culture test, culture blood test. So that was uh something which we had to go through, and then I had to, you know, go back to the surgeon, and I had been through biopsy. After biopsy, they had to uh identify and figure it out what type of cancer it was. So uh my test was carried out, it was called HER2 H E R2. So, in that um point of time, I was laying down on bed, I was enjoying the moment people were taking care of me, like you know, I live in a joint family, everybody was pampering me and all that, but inside me, I was breaking down. To be honest, Akila, that time was not at all something which I am really wanting to face it again. That was very hard time for me because what I was thinking that if I die tomorrow, what my kids are going to suffer from because they were like my daughter was five years old and my son was seven years old, so this is all what I was going through at that time. I had to wait for 20 days for the results of the biopsy, and it was triple negative after 20 days. I got to know it, it was uh like uh for one week time, but my husband had to wanted to you know retest it, he was not accepting the fact that this is what is happening to me. So for the retest, we had to wait it for 20 to 20 days, and um, then uh it was triple negative, aggressive type, and third stage of cancer. I was suggested by doctors to go through chemotherapies, and uh there the journey started. I had to go through MRIs, I had to go through city scans, I had to go through so many tests, board scans, PAT scans, and uh like I was saying my mom that mom, I think there is no blood left in my body now, so many tests, and uh because my nerves, if if I can show it in the camera, it is very visible, but these wings are I think just visible, they are no of no use. Whenever they put needle in it, my hand swells, so my husband had to go through a few hospitals and figure it out what what can be the second option. So he got that pick line, which was a type of a fossil fixed here for the chemotherapies, and it was it was also painful. I had to keep that for six months, and I had to go through 32 chemotherapies, which were like obviously chemotherapies are painful. We all know that chemotherapies are not really um a smoother procedure, it's a it's a harsh procedure. All my hair was all over the house, then I had to cut my hair because I had really long hair. I had to cut my hair, and uh obviously I had to go through a surgery which was a removal, and uh that removal surgery was painful for me also for my family. But whenever I used to take a bath, I used to see myself and I used to cry for it. That a body part of me has been cut it off. But on the other hand, everybody was like, See, you have a life, you have to look after your kids, you have to look, but at that point of time, Akilah. What I was thinking that is this only the point which I am, you know, living for like only my kids. There's no other priority, like you know. Obviously, I'm also a daughter, I'm also a wife, I am also auntie, I'm also somebody's sister, but my children they need me more, they need me a lot more than anybody else need me right now. So that motivated me for once. But then again, what am I going to do if I am alive? That question suddenly came to my mind. Alright, I am going to raise these kids. I'm I'm going to give them but when they are going to grow up, they will start their own life, right? Will they will they see my mother have been going through all this and um she lived for us? Will that be the only purpose of me for of living? Then I realized that I have to be a role model for my children.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much for sharing the experience about your mom and getting married and the whole journey. And I'm sure as women out there and they're listening, they'll say, Boy, we've had the same experience. I'm not yet a mom, I hope to be one day. But um, you know, going through that and you know, taking the best care of your child, I would imagine that that is any parent's dream to do that. I had a previous guest, so I'm not sure if you saw her, Madia from Pakistan as well, and so I know a little bit about the culture. So you grew up in a joint family system, and many persons are not familiar with that. So I just wanted to share a little bit on that.
SPEAKER_02Basically, being a mom is just not the responsibility of growing up a child, you're basically raising up a soul who have to represent you when he grows up, who have to represent the culture you follow, who have to represent you know the source of medium which you are actually giving them. So it was not just about me being a mom or a fighter or just giving him the opportunity, it was the potential of a child as well. When a child sees hardworking mom, they grew up in a way that they are definitely mold in that situation. So uh my son was actually participating in everything which uh I was delivering him. Like I was taking him to therapies, he was performing well, I was taking him for schooling, he was performing well. But during cancer, what I actually faced, what my challenges were, that somehow the global lockdown is going to be a life-changing event for me or my son because he was not trained in a way to take online classes, to take online speech therapy sessions, to take online remedial sessions. So um basically, Akila, what I faced as a challenge was you know, giving that particular amount of accountability to my son while these type of circumstances were happening, and this is where I thought I failed. I could have um, you know, put more efforts and gave him more of these technical stuff, but what I thought then after that, that no, I did not fail as a mother. Actually, it was something which no I was even not trained about, you know. Even I did not know that global lockdown is going to happen. So sometimes mothers actually absorb or adopt any bad emotion or any negative emotion or negative thought, which was never meant to be. So, my message for all the mothers is just trust your inner soul, you know, because as a parent, even a father or a mother, they never think bad about their children. Their children is their highest top priority, they are not meant to be played with, they are meant to raise them up, you know. They are not toys which we are playing with. We have to give them emotions which we have it, so rather having all those negative emotions inside you, try to be more positive, try to be more productive because kids are meant to be creative. This is what I will actually love to share it with every other parent.
SPEAKER_01Right, and can you tell us a little bit about what is a joint family system? Just expand on that in short.
SPEAKER_02Yes, actually, joint family system here in Pakistan is normal. I live in a joint family, and Madhya is also my friend, Madhya Sumro. I I think you're talking about her, and uh she is my friend actually, and uh Akilah. Sometimes I feel that there is no joint family system, but sometimes I see that the this joint family system is a save age. How I am going to tell you some when we are raising up the children the grandmother, the grandfather, and uh the sister-in-laws, which we have it, the aunties, uncles, they have it, they pamper them a lot, they love them a lot. So while raising them up, you know, you get the those pamperism, the the tantrums, the toxic behavior which they get it from every other family member because humans are different, even in family. Also, we get so many different identities, so it's something somehow like that. So there is a lot of if you if I say it in my words, it's a Kit Kat thing that every other member is, you know, involving in every matter. So that's that's what I think should not happen. But on the other hand, like I said, I am a cancer survivor, I had a cancer, I had so many other things like I have to take care of my house, I have to take care of my cooking, I have to take care of my kids, schooling, I have to take care of my husband. I was not well, I was on bed. So if I was on in a joint family system, everything was taken care of. So I think there is always good and bad about every system, you know. Even if we are living alone, there are so many good pros and cons. So about joint family system, this is the same thing, but in majority, I think people prefer living alone. But the culture which I follow, I follow we were from India, we were from Rajasthan, the J Sil Mayor area. So over here in Pakistan, we have our community, we live together, and we live in joint family systems. So I think the best part is that we are taking care of each other in every way possible. Yes, there are side effects, and I I truly understand those side effects are not really good, but this is how we are.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for being so brave in sharing your stories and your encounter. But other persons they may go through other tragedies, and for you, as you mentioned, you found different reasons or different ways to encourage yourself and to know that you want to be there for your children, for your family, for your husband, and moreover, to be a role model. But for somebody who is out there and they're listening to you as you're sharing your story, they're going through a hard time. It doesn't necessarily have to be cancel, but just give them a short word of encouragement, something that can help them to push through that particular challenge at this point in time.
SPEAKER_02What made me go through all this? What made me who I am today a global change maker award winner in Best Diplomats International Conference is that I make myself my priority, and I would suggest every one of you to make yourself your first priority, your well-being, your mental health, your peace of mind, and you matter. Everyone and everything else comes down that because if you are feeling good, everybody else will. If you are feeling okay, everybody else will. This is my suggestion, an honest, a straightforward motivation to you all because empowerment only comes to people who really have that power. I am empowered because I had that power, I had that purpose, and now I am living my life on that purpose. So make a goal, set a goal, and be you.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. Thank you for sharing that. Make a goal and go towards that. But at this point of your life, Osama, what does purpose mean to you?
SPEAKER_02Purpose means everything to me, Akilah, because purpose makes me moving. Right now, I am a country representative for best diplomats organization. Right now I am working with Yes You Can Global Foundation on Women. Right? Right now I have my own company, Resilience Riser by Hassama Shumrose, where I help women overcome obstacles and achieve their goals by helping them adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Right now, I am helping every other person who is coming to me as a motivational speaker, as a performer, as a change maker, and as a mother, as a woman, as a human. So I think this purpose is driving. It's like I am the car and the purpose is the driver. The purpose is driving me to my favorite destination. So the opportunities they don't wait for you. You have to avail it. I am an MP master practitioner, I am a timeline therapist, I am a hypnotist because I wanted to make that change, I wanted to create that change, I wanted to be a role model for my children. My children are actually letting everybody know who my mom is. This is what we want, this is the biggest achievement. In school, my my daughter is explaining everybody what hypnotist is, and my mother does it at home or with the client, you know, and she is explaining it to everybody in such a good way. So, this is something I am achieving, and I think purpose is what drives me. Purpose of life, purpose of travel, purpose of raising my child. Everywhere there is a purpose, and I think purpose is something which makes you set your goals.
SPEAKER_01Right, thank you for sharing that. Purpose is something that drives you, and for those who are watching and listening, tap into yourself a little bit, just spend a few minutes, sit down, do some meditation, and to see the areas of your life that you want to change, and just to take a look. Whenever we do a job interview, typically they'll ask you, so where do you see yourself in five years from now? So let us just do some introspection and start making those changes. I mean, it won't be large overnight, but small steps will ultimately lead to that progress and that change. And as Osama mentioned, as you have made those changes in your lives, those around you will eventually see those changes and it will influence them to influence others. So we definitely want to make those changes. But as you have gone through so much, your faith has been an integral part of your life. Can you tell us how faith has helped to sustain you on your journey?
SPEAKER_02I think why I am here, who I am here, and who I am going to be in the future, in every way, why Allah, my God is helping me. It's not because I pray to him and I want him to do it for me. No, I have trust in it, and the trust is the key, I guess. Whenever you pray to your God, just don't pray it. Pray it with that clear vision that yes, I am praying, and my Allah, my God, who is going to fulfill all that what I am praying for. My Allah has helped me, even though I am very sinful, even though I am not that proper practitioner, even though I am not doing whatever is supposed to be done, but He is actually granting me on my little good habits, on my little kindness, on my little Prayers, so why not? I I'm thankful for this life and how many days I have in my life more, I will keep that in mind, and I will even give that to my children as a gift. That whatever happens to you, don't forget your God. Because God plays a huge role in life. Because the religion we follow is the key to our trust. If you are not faithful to your religion, to your God, who are you going to be faithful of? So I believe that your trust in God is everything but matters.
SPEAKER_01Wow, that's powerful. Your trust in God is everything, and it requires us to be faithful on our journey as we go to the next level. Because some persons will have a different perspective. But I believe that in order to go through life and the challenges and everything that comes, you must be able to depend on something that is greater than you. This life, doing it by yourself, you can go a distance, but you won't make it so far. And so we thank God that we can lean on him as you mentioned, we can pray and we can have answers to those prayers as he keeps on sustaining us. But your final words to somebody, a woman, a man, somebody who's watching or listening to you today, what would be your word of encouragement to them?
SPEAKER_02Your potential is everything what matters. You are going to be somebody who you think of being. So I think my words are not changed. Like I said before, make yourself your first priority. This is what matters for you and for the family as well. You are going to present yourself as a wife, as a daughter, as a role model, as the key of the house. So, yes, you have to be more powerful and more accountable. Trust me, you're going to make it.
SPEAKER_01You're going to make it. You have to be more powerful and more accountable. And for somebody, they're out there and they want to connect with you for your services. Can you please share with us how they can get in touch with you? Sure.
