The Israelites were suffering under the oppression of the Midianites. God sent an angel to Gideon, who was threshing wheat in secret so the enemy couldn’t steal it. Scripture tells us, “When the angel appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’” Gideon responded, “If the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us?...The LORD has abandoned us”
The angel persisted saying, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
