From Home Workouts To Better Health and Peak Performance With Jeff Seleyo
If your gym came to you—and came with a real plan, a community and a Fitness Coach who actually listens, it may be the Delaware Valley's Jeff Seleyo who’s coming to meet you in person or online. But this episode of the Good Neighbor Podcast is the next best thing when the Fitness Trainer, author and founder of Del Val Fitness, Jeff Seleyo, sits down with Good Neighbor Podcast Host Bob Blaisse to share how his concierge training service fits real life: workouts at home, in your apartment gym, at the park or through a dedicated app that keeps you consistent when the day gets busy.
You'll hear Jeff break down the four pillars that drive lasting results—exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress management—and explain how his culinary background and nutrition certification turn healthy eating into something practical and repeatable. You'll learn how Jeff designs safe, effective health and fitness programs by starting with the respective stories of each of his clients: their medical history, injuries, goals and the deeper personal reasons why they want change. From there, he talks about how he maps training for each client that they'll stick with and then layers in accountability that feels supportive rather than pushy.
You’ll appreciate hearing why fitness credentials matter, how corrective exercise bridges the gap after physical therapy and what performance enhancement looks like for athletes who want an edge. Jeff shares examples across ages and abilities, from seniors focused on balance and mobility to a semi-pro pickleball player chasing speed, rotation power and repeat effort. And how even online experiences are prescribed to provide video demos, written cues, progress tracking and live community calls that turn solo training into shared momentum and friendships among Jeff's fitness clients.
If you’ve ever driven past the gym again or felt stuck on a plateau, this conversation offers a different path to remove the friction, personalize the plan and keep the feedback loop tight through a smarter way to train.

Welcome To Delco And The Show
SPEAKER_00Hello comes. This is Michael Barcan. Welcoming you to the Good Neighbor Podcast, where fans of local businesses and their neighbors come together. It's my pleasure once again to introduce my friend and neighbor, our host, Bob Lacey.
SPEAKER_02Thank you, Michael Barcan, for that introduction. Everybody, welcome again to our episode today, our another episode of the Good Neighbor Podcast, we call it. And we're coming to you from Delaware County, Pennsylvania. You've probably heard that before, the southeast corner of Pennsylvania. We lovingly referred to as Delco. And it's a it's a great vibe. It's a great, in fact, they've got a story about it, a movie about it now on HBO, that series task. It's a series, not a movie, but uh set in Delco. And you can learn about Delco, hear all the towns, and hear that accent that they say we have. Of course, I don't hear it. Maybe you'll hear it on our guest today, but we're gonna bring to you another guest, a good neighbor business coming from Delaware County, Pennsylvania, but really serving Delco and beyond the surrounding counties of Bucks County, Montgomery County, you know, Chester County. We're right above the state of New Jersey. I mean, uh west of the state of New Jersey, right above the state of Delaware. So in fact, um, it's really a tri-state business. Let me bring to the stage the owner and founder of Dell Fitness, Mr. Jeff Sileo. Jeff, welcome to the program.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Bob. Thanks for having me today.
Meet Jeff And Del Val Fitness
SPEAKER_02Well, Jeff, we were interested in having you because as a fitness coach, I'm going to use that term broadly right now, and then we'll understand it a little bit more. Trainer is another word. You've got a different jam going on than most. I mean, it's personal, yes, and it's group, yes, it's even online, in person, all those kind of things. But what's different about Jeff Sileo is that you're all of those things and certified in all of those things as well, which is the big difference. I mean, we all know how to exercise and we all know how to help people exercise, but you've been running a very successful business with a great name, I might add, Del Val Fitness, covering the Delaware Valley, one of the premier fitness coaches. So, Jeff, let's start with an understanding of what Dell Val Fitness brings to your clients, and then try to delineate a bit how you are different as the lead for Dell Val Fitness. All right, thanks, Bob.
SPEAKER_01Uh, so I offer what is called in-home or concierge style training. So, what I do is I bring equipment to my clients as needed. Uh, we can work out in a home, an apartment. Uh, I do some workouts out in the park doing when the weather's good, doing the summer months, spring and summer months, even some fall time as well.
SPEAKER_02This is one-on-one and in-person.
SPEAKER_01One-on-one and in person. Uh, we also do offer group coaching in certain settings, like apartment complexes. Uh, and I also um use apartment complexes, uh, folks that live in apartment complexes, their gym facilities as is as um you know, as as allowed.
SPEAKER_02So even on the personal side, when someone wants a personal trainer, and some people do, and some people don't want somebody else in the room, you're even taking it one step further. You'll come to them.
SPEAKER_01Yes, so we offer that convenience of coming to them as well. So um instead of having that uh situation where your schedule is full and you want to get home and you drive by the gym, you know, we're coming to you. So, you know, it's a little bit more of an accountability factor there.
SPEAKER_02And and and we should say to the listeners here that, you know, Jeff, you are certified as being a fitness trainer, a come to you trainer or in-person trainer. And that's that's really kind of an important thing when you're meeting someone or even allowing them to come into your home or or meeting up somewhere for training, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, absolutely. Uh, if you ever seek a fitness professional, you definitely want to make sure they have at least a four-year degree or um at least a basic certif for uh certification as in a personal trainer or CPT certification, certified personal trainer.
SPEAKER_02So when someone is certified and they're putting themselves out there, like you have in your business of being uh a fitness trainer, you'll come to them or they'll come to you. Now, the important thing is that um they do participate and that uh kind of listen to you. So if you could help us understand, when you're when you're a trainer, fitness coach, it's a bit of hard truth counseling here. I mean, you're pushing people to do things that kind of hurt, lifting weights or moving this and moving that, but it's important that we take that direction. Give us an idea how that personal style works that um encourages us more to exercise.
Concierge Training That Comes To You
SPEAKER_01So, yes. Uh, so what one of the things that I do with my philosophy is one, we're gonna take all four pillars of health, as they call it. So we're talking about the exercise component, we're talking about the nutrition. I am a certified nutrition coach as well, and I hold a culinary degree from Johnson Wales University. Um, we're also looking at how we're sleeping. Sleep's very important. Uh, we want to aim for a minimal six hours sleep a day. And I know sometimes that can be tough, but uh, that is like six to eight hours is a general good goal for overall health. And stress management. How are we managing our stress? Because in a fast-paced world that we live in today, that is going to be more important as well than it probably ever has been because we're constantly on the go and we're constantly getting, you know, from all different angles, you know, almost getting barraged from all different things between, you know, phone calls, notifications, emails. It can get overwhelming over time.
SPEAKER_02No doubt, no doubt, Jeff. And really what's happening is your skill set in helping us uh exercise, but also giving us advice about what are you eating and how are you sleeping. You're really what you're doing is you're becoming a coach, not just for fitness, but really for life, for our enjoyment of our own life. And I think what you're doing is kind of seeing what's causing not just the uh stress, uh, you know, talking it out a bit, but also directing them towards positive, you know, reinforcement on how to avoid it and how to you know occupy yourself different ways. But we all know that exercise and door endorphins are that releases stress. So you're really on both sides of this equation. You're you're helping them get fit while you're also helping them eliminate the things that have caused them to be unfit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Uh, and one compliments the other. So, just like you said, Bob, how exercise is going to be your nature's antidepressant. Like it's it's the best thing you can do for yourself, even if you just go for a walk on a daily basis. Uh, and what I do is I sit down with my clients, I have a conversation with them, and I we dig deep sometimes. Uh, sometimes we're gonna find out what what their motivations are as far as why do they want to lose the weight, why do they want to look good, better, feel better. Sometimes it's relational issues, sometimes you know they're they're coming out of a you know a relationship that maybe didn't work or a family stress, whatever it may be, we're gonna find out what that reason is, and that's gonna be the driving force and motivating force to keep that person going when they want to say, you know what, I don't know if I want to do this anymore. And it's my job as a coach and a fitness professional to remind you why you started this journey in the first place, so we can help you get to where you want to go.
Credentials And Why They Matter
SPEAKER_02So if you're someone that is having that starting area or or things getting in the way of you being the best version of yourself, you're there to kind of help them uh anticipate, unpack, understand, and then kind of work around or work through those kind of many things that could be causing that. Now, Jeff, not only not everybody is at the beginning of that. Some people are saying, I've gone as far as I can go on my own, and they're interested in some personalized, higher level instruction. You must also be able to take people to a new level. Tell us a little bit about that.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Uh, so the majority of folks that I do work with right now are late 30s, 40s, early 50s, uh as far as my clienteleist. But I also have some senior clients and I also have some younger um athletes. So, and um so with that being said, everybody that I work with, I'm gonna find out what that specific goal is and we're gonna tailor your workouts specifically to that goal. I'm not for say going to take a 70-year-old man or woman and put them through the same type of programming and routine that I would a 30-year-old like I have right now, I'm late 30s pickleball athlete.
SPEAKER_02He plays pickleball athlete. I love it.
SPEAKER_01He plays semi-pro pickleball. So my gosh, I'm gonna train him totally differently than I'm gonna train somebody that's like just retiring and just wants to enjoy their golden years and just keep their mobility and their vitality.
SPEAKER_02And be healthy. So you're you're you're you're able to not only help the people that are kind of like coming off of years of being overweight and unhealthy and teaching them how to get healthy and be uh less heavy, but you're you're also helping them, you know, the some people just in strength uh counseling and and muscle you know development, but not necessarily muscle building. And yet it sounds like what you just said. Uh tell me, you mentioned your your um uh what was that what was that certification you were talking about for athletes? You're you're you're are you kind of in that range of being able to really take them to another level?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I I hold a performance enhancement specialty uh specialization as well as a corrective exercise specialization beyond my base um personal training certification. So these are specializations that's more fine-tuned to that specific thing. So corrective exercises where let's say we have muscle imbalances, you're coming out of therapy or something like that. A physical therapist will look to somebody like me to be able to continue their um treatment and routine once they have that 30 or 60 day limit for insurance, you know, when you have to like they have to let cut you loose because of insurance reasons and whatnot. They'll look for somebody like me to be able to continue that care. On the other side of it, performance enhancement, that's gonna be a little bit more fine-tuned to building muscle, building cardio base, so they can excel in their particular activity of choice sport or whatever it may be.
Coaching The Four Pillars Of Health
SPEAKER_02Jeff, I can see now why your business was nominated to be on the Good Neighbor Podcast. It is not an average, you know, fitness coach kind of situation. I want to get back to how uh people can um develop a relationship, uh, you know, a coach relationship with you and do it remotely. For those of you who are listening right now, we're we're speaking with fitness trainer Jeff Saleo, who is really the founder and owner of the well-known fitness um training company, really. It's called Dell Val Fitness. They're located in the Delaware Valley in Pennsylvania, but there's a lot of this that is able to be done remotely. So, Jeff, tell us a little bit about how when people meet you, and and it may be people that you meet even from this podcast, when they say, Jeff, can I really achieve these goals without you coming to me or me coming to you? What's that about? And is there a cost in that? And how how do you work that out online?
SPEAKER_01Yes, so I offer uh individual one-on-one, just like I would in person, as well as group um coaching as well. So, how the group coaching works on the online format is we will do our consultation just like I would in person, uh, through either FaceTime or Zoom or whatever uh mode we choose to do there. Uh the consultation will pretty much go the same way. And from there, I will build a program with an online app that I have. It's my own app. And you'll be onboarded and invited to that as we're going through the process. And then from there, you'll have a workout with instruction, text instruction, as well as video. We will then have group calls, community calls, I call them, because we're building a community with the online presence so that we can get together, ask questions as needed, if there's any questions or concerns about programming, or is anybody experiencing this particular issue, and so forth and so on. But also people, the all the members within the group can get to know each other and they can build relationships offline if they want to, or they can continue to get be in contact with each other within the app itself.
SPEAKER_02This is awesome. I mean, you don't hear this very often with um, you know, one-on-one fitness coaches. I mean, I know there's a number of them out there, and I know some of them charge top dollar because they're good and it's one-on-one, and they'll come to you, or you can come to them and they're booked. But you've taken it to kind of another level. You've taken that same kind of high-level skill set that you bring, and you've been able to kind of multiply your hours by being able to help people, not necessarily them coming to you or you coming to them, but to be able to be able to do it with um a virtual training, but not virtual, um, not virtual meaning just watching videos. It's it's really you being able to have a uh kind of an online relationship with them and and doing it visually while you also provide them with videos. That that's powerful stuff, Jeff. I mean, you must be very successful. Hey, everybody, if you'd like to take a look at Jeff Sileo, because you're only listening to him right now, you can meet Jeffrey uh by looking at his website, which is uh the website of his business, Dell Val Fitness, and the website URL is as it sounds, Dell Val. That's short for Delaware Valley, but delvalfitness.com is the website. And if you'd like to talk to Jeff, he's available for phone calls to kind of follow up from what you've heard here. His phone number direct is 215-410-2209. Fitness trainer Jeff Sileo, who we've heard here, is also a performance enhancement and uh corrective exercise specialist while also being a nutrition coach. And I think I heard in there he's even a chef. So there's a guy who you want to talk to to learn how to eat well. Jeff, let's talk about that as kind of a kind of bring this to closure here and and say, uh, because it sounds to me like you've got heart and you've got mission. You've certainly got the talent, and then you have this this group, this app, this online community. It's like mission work for you, Jeff. If someone were to call you, would you be able to kind of give them a taste of what it's all about without them having to pay you money right away, like a consultation or something like that?
Motivation, Mindset, And Accountability
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. I offer free consultations to any potential clients or folks that are interested in my services. So, like I said, what we'll do is we will either online through Zoom or FaceTime or through phone call, um, whichever's most convenient for both both parties, obviously. Um and we will discuss needs, exercise history, um, even uh injury and medical histories, all the things I need to be aware of so that I can design a program based upon all that information that's not only gonna keep you to excel to meet your goals, but keep you safe in the process as well. Uh, we don't want to be doing things or nutritional protocols that may counteract the medication you may be taking or something of that nature. So we're gonna get deep a little bit on that end of it to find out things, but I'll also give you a little bit of bit of my background about how I got into this and why I do what I do.
SPEAKER_02This is this is wonderful. I I'm so happy that someone nominated you for the good neighbor business um profile here on our episode because it is actually a good neighbor business. It doesn't have to be a business you walk to or drive to. You'll come to them either driving to see them or you'll actually be able to help them. Sounds like you definitely can help them. And it can even be kind of a virtual relationship, not just with you and them, but your community that you bring through Dell Val Fitness, your app, your videos, and certainly the heart that you have. What a what a great good neighbor business this is. And I'm so glad that we've got to learn about it today. Everybody, if you would like to talk to Jeff, call him at 215-410-2209, and certainly check out the website delvalfitness.com and meet fitness trainer Jeff Soleil. Jeffrey, thank you for being a guest here on the Good Neighbor Podcast. It's been wonderful having you, and we're just so happy that we were able to get to know you.
SPEAKER_00Thank you so much, Bob. It was my pleasure. Thank you for listening to the Good Neighbor Podcast, hosted by Bob Lacey. This is Michael Barkin, inviting everyone to get on the good neighbor team, nominate your favorite local business to be featured on an upcoming episode by going the DMP Yum Dum.
