SPECIAL ISSUE: In the sea there are crocodiles. An Interview with Fabio Geda
When a totalitarian regime comes to power, no one is safe—not even a 10-year-old boy living with his family in a village. There may come a time when you have to leave everything behind and embark on a journey alone. Schools may close, and even your teacher may be killed. This is what happened to Enaiatollah Akbari. At just 10 years old, he was forced to leave Afghanistan in search of safety. But as a child wandering alone through the streets of Pakistan, safety was not easy to find.
It took Enaiat four years to reach Turin, where he met Fabio Geda, an Italian author from the same city. Enaiat shared his story with Fabio, and from that collaboration, the book In the Sea There Are Crocodiles was born.
Listen to this interview to learn more about how the book came to be and to hear Enaiat's incredible story.
