A Different Way | Salt + Light

What are followers of Jesus actually for in the world?

In this message from our series A Different Way, we turn to Jesus’ words in Gospel of Matthew 5:13–16, where He calls His people the salt of the earth and the light of the world. After describing who is truly blessed in the Beatitudes, Jesus now reveals our purpose—to live with visible, life-giving influence as we practice the way of Jesus together.

We explore how salt adds flavor, preserves what is good, and brings healing—and how the church risks losing its “saltiness” when it becomes compromised or cloistered. We also reflect on what it means to be light in a dark world: not hidden, not silent, but visibly reflecting the light of Christ so that others might give glory to God.

Through Scriptures, this message invites us to consider the question: "What would it look like for our communities to be different because the people of Jesus are here?"
