We're SMASHIN' that Big Red Button like a YouTube clout-chaser - welcome back to the hottest Fallout podcast of at least the past fourteen seconds!

Summary:

In this episode, the Stragglers continue onward, as they head to the outskirts of town to meet with "Crazy Carl." Carl is a bit of a loner, living in a shack, on the northeast edge of Dustridge, with a few two-headed brahmin and a field of razorgrain. Standing dutifully at his side is his since-deactivated Protectron robot, Phyllis.

Carl's not too fond of outsiders coming to pay him a visit, but curiosity gets the better of him. He asks the trio about the gunshots he heard earlier. While the fleshy friends do their best not to alert him to the chaos that's unfolded, Gotfree has other plans...

Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk!

"Is now the time to tell him we found a cannibal?"

And that's just where the fun begins. Carl tells the trio that he doesn't know much about the raiders, but the next time the "nice fellow" who wears the cool leather jacket comes down to ask Carl more questions, he'll happily see if the man knows anything. Turns out, Carl had been trading with the cannibal for some time.

The trio heads back into town to report to the Sheriff and the Mayor their initial findings and resupply before their big trip up to Harrison. They meet some mercenaries - some nice, some not so nice.

After stocking up, they head to the town hall, where Gotfree makes his feelings for the Mayor as clear as he can - much to her chagrin. She gives each of the scrappers a few supplies, and sends them on their way.

TL;DR -

  • The Stragglers meet Crazy Carl and his deactivated robot Phyllis
  • Carl tells them about a man who might be a potential lead
  • Mercenaries don't care if you're fighting raiders - no discounts
  • Inter-robo-human relationships tend to be unrequited
  • Better be careful running your mouth about cannibals around town
