Hush, are you cold? I see a light in your eyes.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'll turn it off.
Speaker 1:Okay, thanks, are you cold? Just act so passive aggressive.
Speaker 3:Are you, hey? Are you cold by any chance?
Speaker 1:Five, four, six, seven, eight. Are we doing a cold open?
Speaker 3:I am cold so that's true.
Speaker 1:Okay, welcome back. Your eyes were closed. So you couldn't see that I was about to go the a-list.
Speaker 3:Welcome back to the a-list podcast with allison and alex over there, that's allison and that's alex. You can't see him, but you can hear him. I'm gonna say that every time as if, like people know, actually some people might not know. If this is your first time listening some people don't alex is not on camera right now, but if you're listening it doesn't matter. And if you want to know why he's not on camera, you can go back about six episodes and find out why.
Speaker 1:But also I can just briefly say I'm just off camera and we'll be back on camera in the first, the first of the year the first of the year doing some self work.
Speaker 3:You guys also want to jump back because you said people might think that you had like a cosmetic surgery or something. I did have a cosmetic surgery.
Speaker 1:No cosmetic surgery, guys, Just um a lot of internal surgery. No, that's internal surgery is a thing.
Speaker 3:That's true.
Speaker 1:Just doing some emotional surgery. I want to jump back.
Speaker 3:Please.
Speaker 1:Your dog's getting a big drink. It's loud. I want to jump back Please. Your dog's getting a big drink. It's loud, it's definitely going to cough. Um, you said you can't see him, but you can hear him, which is a nod, I feel, to a walk to remember. Oh.
Speaker 3:I thought you were gonna say the Santa Claus and I was going to say that's not the right quote.
Speaker 1:Jamie saved my life. Yeah, I'll always miss her but, our love.
Speaker 3:It's like the wind you can't see it but you know, you can feel it oh, so just let me finish the quote for some reason, it's always there for some reason. I thought that was the wind is always there it is um. The quote I thought you were going with for the santa claus is I didn't even mention the, the Santa. Claus. It's believing isn't seeing. Wait Seeing isn't believing. Believing is seeing.
Speaker 1:Oh yes.
Speaker 3:Do you know that one?
Speaker 1:Well, I know the Santa Claus. Is that what's written on the side of the snow globe?
Speaker 3:I don't know if it's written on the side of the snow globe, but that's a thing that judy the elf tells love her.
Speaker 1:She makes the best hot cocoa yes, shaken, not stirred um.
Speaker 3:She says that to sc scott calvin yeah, yeah, what a great movie. Well, I can't wait to watch that about 35.
Speaker 2:Did you watch the show?
Speaker 3:I tried, like the first couple episodes, and it wasn't good. Oh, I haven't tried. Actually, I don't know if it was not good, it just it was weird.
Speaker 1:You weren't in the place to maybe absorb it.
Speaker 3:And it just like was not the right vibe to me. It's like it's not 1994 anymore and it felt weird.
Speaker 1:Hot take, it isn't, you're correct.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, okay. So I'm happy to report the perm is gone oh, I thought you just straightened your hair. No, it's finally, finally gone.
Speaker 3:Wow, 11 months that's pretty crazy, and they they said it wasn't gonna last at all even a week. She was sure it wouldn't, but I am maybe she put a little extra something in it well, she did.
Speaker 1:She did like the perm treatment like two times.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 1:Point is y'all also. The reason I even thought of this is because I posted that like story today where I like, with the Gracie Abrams song, and I was just like, wow, that perm really. I really had that perm the beginning of this year.
Speaker 3:Do you feel like you did it and you'll never do it again?
Speaker 1:I will never do it again.
Speaker 3:Because this year Do you feel like you did it and you'll never do it again? I will never do it again Because it lasted so long, or you just didn't like the look.
Speaker 1:I didn't like the look. I mean, I think that I looked okay, Like I wasn't like oh, but it's like you have to keep it at that length.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And I knew all along like I've wanted. I wanted this year to be the year I grew my hair out, so it was like I signed up to look like Annie, essentially, If I had just committed to it, or like you could have gotten looser. It did kind of get loose. Well, for real, what actually happened is it technically went from like a perm to truly in the last couple weeks, just like completely not like this. How you guys aren't seeing my hair right now, but Allison is is just like air dried.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it looks great, so anyway, I just am excited to say, guys, I've done it, I did the perm, it's not for me, and now it's gone.
Speaker 3:Well, interestingly enough hair. I have some hair stuff to talk about too. Oh my God.
Speaker 1:We didn't even talk, we didn't even plan that.
Speaker 3:We didn't. But I am on a hair journey myself because I feel something has happened in my life, my body, my hormones, whatever where I have been shedding so much more. The past handful of months.
Speaker 2:I hate hair.
Speaker 3:I hate loose hair. Yes, it's even my own, but especially other people but for some reason I've been shedding so much the past handful of months and it's actually become concerning to me, like do you think you're shedding, or do you think your hair is just so dark now that you're just noticing it more?
Speaker 3:It could be that, but, yeah, my hair, my hair is shorter than it's ever been, yeah, and so maybe it is possible that my hair is just dark now and my hair is the shortest it's been, so it feels like I have less hair in general. It could be that, but I am just so aware of it and I'm like, of course, when you look up hair shedding, it's like cancer, of course, when you look up hair shedding it's like Cancer.
Speaker 3:Well, no, it's more like hormonal imbalance. Like, have you lost weight Are you? How stressed are you Are you?
Speaker 4:sleeping.
Speaker 3:About food eating, like all those things. And, like I, I'm now on a medication that I have been on for eight months, nine months, I mean. I guess it could be that but and I have lost some weight on it, so like it could be that I could be, you know, not getting enough nutrients, although I do eat pretty well.
Speaker 1:Or could you? Just be hyper aware of it. It's always you've been losing it at the same rate.
Speaker 3:I guess I really don't know, but I am concerned. So I started a hair serum. This is not an ad. They're not paying me. I paid too much money with my own money for Vegamore. I get a lot of ads for Vegamore through other influencers and I did some research on their website of like their trials. Okay, it's kind of like, out of a four month trial, 120 days, they had success in the 93 to 97 percent that those people saw, uh, an improvement in their hair in terms of less shedding.
Speaker 1:Okay that's what I'm asking. It's not. It's not necessarily regrowth, it's like strengthening some.
Speaker 3:There is some regrowth, but it's more in strengthening and like less shedding got it okay, so I decided to try that and I will let you guys know where I end up mark this. Episode 41 allison starts her hair journey yeah, I'm just like I'm so hyper aware and it is stressing me out.
Speaker 1:So if it is stress that is causing me to shed more than me being stressed about, it is not helping what you need is just to have fernanda come out here again so she can give you confirmation that your hair is fine. Every time I go to the salon I freak out about my hair thinning, and every time he has to say alex, he did so.
Speaker 3:I said that to him as well, and he I was. I said that I've been worried about it and he was like well, from what I'm seeing, like your hair doesn't seem like it seems pretty I do have so also from a couple years of bleach. Obviously my hair went through it with that, so I have breakage and some stuff from that. So that's also a thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 3:And the bleach could also have damaged my hair. Okay, I don't know.
Speaker 1:How are you liking the color? I feel like it's faded to a nice color I like it. Yeah. Yeah, it did take a couple of washes for you to, it did.
Speaker 3:It was very dark, but it was rich. Yeah.
Speaker 1:No, I'm enjoying it. Okay, Well, I. So you're on your hair journey of regrowth. By the time I'm back on camera for these episodes, I hope to be have my hair in a man bun, you guys oh my gosh, that's when I how I met you, you had space buns.
Speaker 3:Yeah, crazy.
Speaker 1:Okay, so I want to ask you if you've heard of this. Are you done with hair talk? Yeah okay, have you heard of the app?
Speaker 3:too good to go t2 like the number two t-o-o no too good to go.
Speaker 1:Okay, so I was talking to megan and megan was like, just talking, updating me, and she was just. She was like, uh, megan, my friend in new york, everyone she was like me and her girlfriend. She's like we got on too good to go from this bakery and we went there.
Speaker 3:Oh, I have heard about it.
Speaker 1:I've never heard of this app. So you guys, if you don't know, there's apparently an app called too good to go where it's supposed to help and I love the concept. It's restaurants, sign up and it's basically like you pay. What they paid was $5. You don't know what you're getting yeah and it's just like grocery stores or restaurants who have leftover things at the end of the day yeah they bag them up.
Speaker 1:You pay five dollars, you get what you get, kind of a thing. Yes, so they went to a bakery and she got. She was like literally like a cake sized cherry danish oh for five dollars and they were just like okay, here you go yeah and apparently it's in la.
Speaker 3:I had never heard of this, so when I heard, it's been honestly a couple of years ago when I read about it it's been around since 2016.
Speaker 1:I didn't know this.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I. When I first moved here, I think, I heard about it and I got on, but at that time there were not a lot of restaurants that were a part of it. It was mainly bakeries and they bakeries and they um.
Speaker 1:It would be like uh what's that?
Speaker 3:one bakery? I don't know, I want to know, I don't know, but it would be a bakery and they would. It never worked out for me to what do you? Mean go get it, like the time in which you could order yes, I don't know how it works.
Speaker 1:I downloaded the app because I was like I want to know what's around.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it was very limited. It was like not close to me places, and then it would be like, um, you, you couldn't just like order and go right, then it would be order and then you can pick up at 5 PM tonight and I was like that's not going to work for me. I have things to do. I'm going to the gym, I'm going to do whatever. I don't have time to drive then across the Valley to go pick up whatever it is Well.
Speaker 1:I am alive, looking at it right now.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm sure there's way more people participating like Whole Foods is on here.
Speaker 1:Oh, great so like here's an example everyone because this is so cool. So right now it says for $4.99,. I can go to California Fish Grill, which is that that's the restaurant that's right here, and oh yeah. And pick up a surprise bag of sides for $4.99 in my windows 830 to 9 pm. Krispy Kreme.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:One dozen donuts of random selection for $6.
Speaker 3:Whoa.
Speaker 1:That's what it is.
Speaker 3:Like it's not super fresh because it's from.
Speaker 1:For sure, for sure, for sure. It is a lot of bakeries on here. You're right.
Speaker 3:But it is, I mean for people who are looking to. You know, get cheap food like it is a really great thing and it is reducing food waste, so it is a good system.
Speaker 1:So Whole Foods, for instance, like you can. It's a randomized bakery bag for $6.99. It's the Sherman Oaks one.
Speaker 3:Should I do it?
Speaker 1:You should try it sometime.
Speaker 3:Should I do it? When can you pick it up? Oh, I can't do it tonight.
Speaker 1:No, it's. It's from 8.30 to 10. What a cool idea.
Speaker 2:Like, I love this.
Speaker 1:I love the idea of like not wasting food. Phil's coffee is on here.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think Now is a better time for me to get on it because, one, I live closer to things and two, uh, I'm sure there's more places on it. There is another app that I've been using that actually Haley got me onto. It's called in kind you, a bunch of restaurants in the city are on it and basically you either order through them or you place your order and then you pay your bill through the app and then you get like 3 or 5% cash back on the app.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 3:And there's a bunch of discounts, so like right now. You know, tacos 1986.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Right now I have like $20 off something or 20 off of 30 or I don't know to them, and then plus I would get the percentage back onto the app and then you can use that money for other restaurants.
Speaker 1:So okay, it's.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's cool it's different than like a door dash or whatever, because it's not like a. Some of them might deliver, but the only time I've used it is Josh and I ordered Prince street pizza and we ordered through them and then we just went and picked it up, so it was really just paying the amount for the food that you would normally pay. It's not like service fee and delivery fee.
Speaker 3:It's not like adding all that onto it. But then, yeah, you get the money back onto the app and you can either use it to order other food or actually yeah, or I think you can maybe cash it out. But the like fun thing is is if you use it and then you get like $200 or whatever and then you can go to like a really fancy restaurant.
Speaker 1:Oh nice.
Speaker 3:And I feel like that's fun, but in kind everyone.
Speaker 1:In kind. It kind of reminds me. It has nothing to do with it, but it reminded me of. Do you remember growing up like the fundraiser where you'd get like the $20 massive fat ass coupon?
Speaker 3:book? Yes, and you went to Mancino's. That was rich. Did you go to Mancino's?
Speaker 1:I loved a barbecue chicken grinder.
Speaker 3:Yeah, the grinders were so good that bread was back when grinder literally meant a baked pizza thing yeah, and now it means something different now it is a different kind of speaking of grinder. Today that we're recording is election day. Oh, yeah and um. There's a lot of anxiety going around. I've had the worst day of my life.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of anxiety in the air. There's a lot of nerves.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you voted early.
Speaker 1:I voted early. I voted in person this morning I was talking to our friend and about how crazy it is that there's not just one way to vote in person Like. Oh like my sister, voted at a church and their system was a computer, but oh, you voted, probably like. It was like the one that when we voted two years ago and we went together. It's like the paper goes in the machine and then they print it out and then you put it back in the machine, yeah, and then that it's not yeah.
Speaker 3:Why isn't it? Universal digital or one way it makes it me, it makes me feel, feel that much more skeptical of everything. I think it's archaic that we still have paper ballots. In general, I think that it would be a little too technological and futuristic if we were doing it all virtually or something.
Speaker 1:But to me, In the future, we all vote from an app on our phone.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't know Like. I just like paper feels weird to me still.
Speaker 1:I agree.
Speaker 3:And it is weird to me that, like you, don't have to go in person.
Speaker 1:Right, I didn't.
Speaker 3:I know it's weird. I've never voted not in person, but it just feels like so much more official it not in person, but it just feels like so much more official it does.
Speaker 1:I still got my sticker, though. Oh yeah, you got yours, but you didn't put it on, you just took a picture of it.
Speaker 3:I know I also took a picture of myself in it, but I accidentally swiped left on labs and I don't know how to put it in your feed after you do that.
Speaker 1:So they've changed it. By the way, they've updated the app. So if you did do do that, you can go in now and say add defeat and it puts it back.
Speaker 3:I'll have to do that. You should have absolutely do that or at least download it and put it on your instagram. Yeah, I also just think it's kind of like cliche and like I don't know the influencers or like people and not even influencers, but just like that we it's like a societal thing that, like you have to show that you voted or like or else.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but what if your vote inspired like all right, I think that's what it is. It's more like that's fair, that's fair, it's comraderous.
Speaker 3:I just like kind of felt silly for some reason.
Speaker 1:That's because you're always in your head about your status and what's going on.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I was just like another, like content creator, like has to show us their that's your own limiting belief.
Speaker 1:You should have just called me, okay, next time I just felt silly, but sure I, I voted everyone, just to let you know, just like you have people, that the people that are listening to this podcast are fans of yours, and if you're, if you are promoting the right to vote, which you do for everyone and anyone, yeah, then putting that out there is just encouraging the people that watch you to do the same thing.
Speaker 3:That's fair.
Speaker 1:Exercise your right to vote everyone. At this point, we have probably determined who the winner of everything is because it's Monday.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, yes, I would hope so. That'd be pretty crazy.
Speaker 1:And we just want to say I just want everyone to get along and love each other and be nice and be nice and for my friends to move to the woods with me, and be, naked. You already know, anyway, yeah, so it's. It's a bit of a high stress day. We also are. We recorded this this week's episode. Last week's episode we recorded like three days ago pretty recently, but we always have. We always have things to gab about well speaking of.
Speaker 3:Also today, which is election day also, beyonce dropped a video she did for her song bodyguard baywatch, which one I have no idea.
Speaker 1:I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 3:Let me look it up. I listened to it, but I saw conflicting things like is it bodyguard or is it Baywatch?
Speaker 1:I'm sorry, is it a song that's already out?
Speaker 3:No, I think she put it out, but she said she dressed up as uh Baywatch for Halloween.
Speaker 1:She dressed up as. What does that mean? She dressed up as Pamela Anderson. Pam Ann.
Speaker 3:Okay, sorry, I don't know. The title of this YouTube video is Baywatch, but is the song bodyguard Like? I don't understand? That's a great question, but regardless, I like the song actually.
Speaker 1:You do.
Speaker 3:And it's. It is like telling people to vote like the. The thumbnail is her with a little vote thing. Okay, well, she released it 21 hours ago, so today dance party with beyonce dance party with beyonce. I actually like the song like I didn't. I wasn't really like super into cowboy carter, not like I wasn't mad about it. But I wasn't really like super into Cowboy Carter Not like I wasn't mad about it, but I wasn't like dying for Did you like Renaissance more?
Speaker 1:I mean yeah, renaissance yeah.
Speaker 3:I am not like you know me. I don't know every single song by anyone, right? So do I know all the songs? No, but I like this song.
Speaker 1:Okay, I thought that it was a cool vibe and she looks great in the video.
Speaker 3:She has blonde hair. She's wearing the baywatch swimsuit. She looks great I love a blonde beyonds but she dropped that today and everyone was really excited about that and they're the stress of the you. You know polls.
Speaker 1:She gave a little breath of fresh air.
Speaker 3:Sure did. Here's my thing though, just holding space in case things come out about. You know J and B.
Speaker 1:Right.
Speaker 3:So that's that.
Speaker 1:Great. I, so everyone who is an is a weekly listener. Thank you, and those of you that are popping in and out and don't know why I'm not on camera, as I already explained, um, I'll be back. I am nearly finished with this program that I'm doing, and this past Saturday I had a very, very intense therapy session that was. I was put into a near state of hypnosis therapy session that was. I was put into a near state of hypnosis and I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 3:I have felt very different since Really, yeah, in what way.
Speaker 1:So much lighter.
Speaker 2:Good.
Speaker 1:It was a regression session kind of thing and it walked me, it was very emotional and it walked me.
Speaker 1:It was very emotional and it walked me through a lot of my traumas and obviously I'm still dealing with a lot of things, but my outlook on things, like my immediate attitude when I wake up in the morning and the the shifts that I've been feeling are now even more amplified. So just want to shout out that, like doing this, the work on yourself is never a bad decision and it's been a journey, but this past Saturday, after that, I was like whoa, yeah, I was very tired, but then Sunday morning I was like whoa.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Crazy.
Speaker 3:Do you? It was near hypnosis, yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so it basically got me. It gets. They get you into this state of like, almost asleep, but they keep you awake.
Speaker 3:It was very how do you get into that state? It was through meditation, okay, and extreme concentration oh my gosh, I feel like that would be so hard for me, yeah, me too.
Speaker 1:I was like I'm not gonna be able to do this.
Speaker 3:And then there I was yeah, so it wasn't like tapping no, it was.
Speaker 1:This was virtual, but it was like repetitive.
Speaker 3:Oh, I thought she was coming here.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, this ended up being virtual, so I had it all set up in my bedroom.
Speaker 3:I was in bed. How was Stanley?
Speaker 1:Totally fine. I was like. First of all, the prep Saturday morning started at 9 am. We didn't actually start the session until 1 pm. That's how much I was preparing my body and mind for it yeah so I made sure to feed him and like very early, because I didn't know how long it was gonna go yeah and then took him out and then I knew he would just sleep in the bed.
Speaker 1:um, and then I, the way I I can explain what I will describe briefly that the, the state that I was in, it was like after I came out of it and the whole thing was over and I was like literally, like just, I cried so much, I was like, oh, it felt like I was in a Christmas Carol and I was Scrooge, being taken around by the ghost to like observe all of these things that happened in my life. I was watching them happen. So, yeah, I took my own little Christmas Carol journey.
Speaker 3:Kind of fun to think about? Yeah, do you feel like you could be hypnotized? Yeah, cause some people can't right.
Speaker 1:Correct? No, I think I could.
Speaker 3:I wonder if I could.
Speaker 1:I did not think I would be able to get to that state, Even explaining that this is what I had so much anxiety, you know, leading up to this. Like what if I'm not able to like actually like what if I don't get the benefits that everyone else has gotten from it?
Speaker 2:And then, it fucking.
Speaker 1:It worked great, but that happened after.
Speaker 3:I recorded, so that that worked out nice and that you only do it once, or do you have to do it again?
Speaker 1:No, we only did that one once. It's as as part of the program. It was. Only it's only being done once, so, um, I could always like do another one if I wanted to but, I don't know. I think, like for what? What I needed it for, it accomplished that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, You're also on a I don't know if you want to talk about it, but an eating journey.
Speaker 1:Oh my God, I'm on a fitness Well, I'm on a literal life overhaul journey.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and that includes fitness and nutrition. And guys, yeah, you're a, I mean you're. Uh, I mean you're. Obviously I don't know if people know this because you're sitting, but you're six, two, so like you require a lot of food.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I have. I have had and like trigger warning, but also like if I've struggled with disordered eating since basically most of my life, but really when I moved to la and the boy band, that really kicked things off yeah I have always had that also. I think a lot, of, a lot of gay men go through a lot of people go through it, but a lot of gay men too so I made a commitment when I started this program that I was also going to get healthy.
Speaker 1:Healthy and I was telling allison before all, by the way, made me and her a delicious pot of chili turkey chili that we devoured before we recorded this.
Speaker 4:And it was delicious.
Speaker 1:And let me tell you, this is a feat for me, because one of my things in eating healthy is I decided that I'm going to start eating beans. I hate beans.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Hate them I. They make me gag. I'm not a fan, but on a fitness journey, when you're trying to get muscles, you need protein, and beans are a great source of protein. So I was like okay. So when Alison said, would you eat if I make chili, would you eat it?
Speaker 3:Yeah, Well, I said would you? I'm making chili, but it's going to have beans in it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you and I was like. You know that's so interesting.
Speaker 3:She didn't know that I had decided beans are on this week's grocery list.
Speaker 1:So, I was like bring them out, and it was delicious.
Speaker 3:I did, you did not gag.
Speaker 1:No, I had enough. There's enough cheese and crackers to get through it, but the flavor was so good. She did an amazing job.
Speaker 2:But yes.
Speaker 1:I am on a fitness journey too, and I'm like getting muscles and you, you've, you're upping your caloric intake yeah, I'm eating for the amount that you're exercising because you were getting ripped. Yeah, like you have to eat more yes and that is a feat I, as someone who they're, I'm not a stress eater, I'm a stress starver. So for me, like if I don't consciously make an effort to eat, I just won't.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:You know this about me which is why when we were roommates. It was great because Allison would just be like, oh, I'm making potatoes. But if I'm like getting through my day and it's like 9 PM and I was like, all right, well, I'll just have sleep for dinner. Not healthy, not good especially with a heart condition. Point is, I am eating structured meals every day. I meal prep twice a week and I've been doing this now for seven weeks and.
Speaker 1:I've seen the results, I'm noticing them, but. But because I'm working out so much, I still am not like you're burning too many calories, not keeping up, yeah, so, like the, muscles are nice to see, but they're not going to stick around unless I fuel them.
Speaker 2:True.
Speaker 1:So I'm going to implement some new things this week, but yeah, what a journey.
Speaker 3:I am on a cooking journey.
Speaker 1:You are.
Speaker 3:Because I just want to be better at it and I don't want it to be stressful for me. Yeah, this week I've made so many things. I made chicken um like drumsticks not wings because I didn't know like I feel like the cooking time would be different. So I opted for buying only drumsticks and I made a delicious dry rub and then I cooked them in the air fryer instead of frying them, just because I felt like it was a little healthier also, and actually they were very good. That was crazy.
Speaker 3:Love that I made turkey meatballs last night. Ooh, how was that they were very good. I had this idea. I didn't even use a recipe for this. There's like a vegetable hash that comes out of Trader Joe's around this time of year. That is like sweet potato. It's very like Thanksgiving flavor vibes, but it's just like um, diced sweet potatoes and onion and celery and stuff, but it kind of tastes like thanksgiving I usually buy it and I just make it with eggs in the morning and it's kind of just like a morning you know hash, if you will.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I decided I thought it would be good if I put that in the turkey meatballs. So I did a bowl and I was like I'm not gonna use a recipe because I'm making this up anyway.
Speaker 3:Right, and I, I know that you put like an egg and I know that you put um breadcrumbs and I just like did that and I put the vegetable hash in, and then I did like spices and I made turkey meatballs and they actually tasted so good. I overcooked them a little. I think I made them too big pan fry them?
Speaker 1:no, I them.
Speaker 3:No, I baked them.
Speaker 1:Oh, you baked them Okay.
Speaker 3:Yes, and then I had some sweet potato gnocchi from Trader Joe's. That is so freaking good, you guys. It's like brown butter sage, wow. So I had a little bit of those and I had some turkey meatballs and they were delicious, and then I made the chili. Today. I a cooking machine you are a cooking machine I'm just like trying to be like domestic and like I love that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and it's like, it is like the season to pick up cooking. I feel like yeah, I and it's like now that it's cooled off because your apartment gets hot it does, and I'm trying to make some soups this season as well and learn about soups so are you taking any of tips from hayley?
Speaker 3:I feel like she's a cooker yeah, I've asked her a few things, um, but I'm also trying to, you know, like baking has to be scientific but like cooking can come from the heart, and so I'm trying to also not like lean on recipes or asking. I'm trying to like actually deduce in my head like does this need more seasoning? Does it need more salt? Does it need more whatever, and so I can get better about having like a intuition on cooking.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So anyone you know send me a recipe yeah.
Speaker 1:Send your best recipes our way.
Speaker 3:Or tell me what I should make. I'm definitely not going to like Send your best recipes our way. Or tell me what I should make.
Speaker 1:I'm definitely not going to like I don't know You're not going to make a beef Wellington.
Speaker 3:No, no, I'm not. It can't have that many steps, sure. Oh, I also made a steak. Did I tell you this?
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 3:Whoa, I cooked my very first steak Medium. It was a pretty medium rare.
Speaker 1:I didn't was it for you it was for me.
Speaker 3:Okay, I do like a medium steak. This was a little on the rare side than I would have liked, but it was an okay temperature?
Speaker 2:no okay it.
Speaker 3:Just I I've never cooked a steak and I did it on the stove top. I didn't have like a you know, grill it or anything. Yeah, yeah, but I did it and it wasn't terrible. Like I would next time cook it a little longer, but you're not supposed to cook it for very long, because then you lose are you doing the thing where you like.
Speaker 1:Pour the liquids I did the butter.
Speaker 3:Very gorgamsy of you I know I am a chef, top chef. Yeah, love that damn um yeah, do you have.
Speaker 1:Oh, guys, we have our final game of the regular Top chef. Yeah, Love that Damn. Um, yeah, do you have? Oh, guys, we have our final game of the regular season of dodgeball tomorrow. Yeah, so, since you know, sports podcast sports corner sports corner. So we will let you know next week if we were currently in first place, which is very exciting.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:This means that we will be like automatically in the finals, in the finals, which means we may not have to play next week yeah, kind of sad, but also yeah and we'll see, maybe not. We haven't. We didn't have to do a double header this season. I think that's because we had so few teams yeah because we actually played one team twice in this this time correct? I think we're taking next season off, guys we are because I don't want to do draft. I would rather just keep my balls.
Speaker 3:Yeah, the way they do the winter season is, we couldn't just make our own team. So we're kind of just like oh, let's take it off. Cause like the point is to I understand their reasoning of like meeting new people and all that, but also like we want to play with our friends. Like it's a it's a time to get together, because we're adults and we all have jobs and it's hard to get together often. So it's like if we want to play with our friends, then like we want to play with our friends.
Speaker 1:And this is a kind of busy time of year. You're going to be gone for two of those Wednesdays anyway.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And Christmas and things. Oh, I thought this like started in January it does so nevermind, but we're still taking the winter season. We are our birthday season. We're taking it off.
Speaker 3:My birthday season.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Well, speaking of sports, so many good segues. This time. I have two things about the.
Speaker 1:Kelsey brothers One. Did you see the Jason Kelsey killed that man through that dude's phone.
Speaker 3:He did not kill him, he did smash his phone. If you guys don't know, there's a video of jason kelsey leaving a football game I think it was a college football game, possibly and there's this like kid following him and yelling at him and saying being like, hey, like what, how do you feel about your brother being a f? Slur? And something about taylor swift. And he says it a couple times and Jason, the second time or something, turns around and goes up to him, grabs his phone and smashes it on the ground. And then he also. At first no one heard what he said because it was a different angle or something, and they just saw him smash the phone and then walk away and everyone was like, yes, jason, work. They're like, get it. And then another angle came out where he says back to him who's the F? Slur now?
Speaker 3:or something like that, and so there's a little bit of controversy on that because, like he says it back to him, I have seen people in the community, the LGBT community being like we'll give it a pass, like this guy's being a douche you want to ask me and some I'm, I'm getting there, but then some people are being like no, he should like. You still can't say that word regardless. So do you have thoughts?
Speaker 1:I'm not, I'm more. I was. When you told me I was immediately just more bummed that he just retaliated in that way, like I wish he had just smashed the phone and walked away. Yeah, I actually wish he hadn't done any of it, because I'm more of a peace kind of guy. Yeah, but it's like smashing the phone, yeah, that feels nice because also it's jason kelsey, like if that guy tries to he'll give you a thousand dollars, fine, but like yeah because he got to smash your phone and that if you would have punched him, he would have laid him like he might have
Speaker 1:been like hospitalized I know that the retaliation of that of him, that comment he wasn't meaning it Like he actually was doing it in defense of his brother.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And I don't believe that Jason Kelsey is the kind of guy that would say that slur. Anyway. He was literally saying it's like it's a clap back.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he has since apologized publicly and it was a it seems like a heartfelt apology and he said you know, he didn't want, he didn't love that he, you know, went against hate with hate and the wording. Obviously I'm not like saying his exact words, but he has apologized and it seemed heartfelt. I think it was in the in the heat of the moment and like I feel, because their relationship is so high profile, he probably gets that everywhere he goes and it probably just came to a head of like I'm so sick of people yelling at me or saying whatever. Yeah, but he does um, like you, he was just like walking amongst the sea of regular people he was and you are take taylor out of it like he was already a very famous football player.
Speaker 3:Yeah, before and then. Now it's amplified, so like what you gonna do you gotta like, maybe take, like, take yourself out of this sea of regulars possibly, I agree and speaking of taylor swift, how do you feel that she ended?
Speaker 1:I agree, and speaking of Taylor Swift, how do you feel that she ended her us leg of the tour in Indianapolis, indiana Lucas oil stadium.
Speaker 3:Um, my sister was sad because she couldn't get tickets. Well, she could have, but they were. She went to the first time, like at the beginning.
Speaker 1:Oh right, but she didn't go to Indy cause this is the first she didn't go to Indy because this is the first. She didn't come to Indy. This is the first time.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think it was Ohio, maybe, okay, but she went to that. That was like the beginning of the tour. No, my sister wanted to get tickets and they were thousands of dollars.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so she couldn't find anything at all. There was clowning that she was going to announce rep on the last night. She didn't, so sadly we did not get Reputation.
Speaker 3:Taylor's is Toronto tonight, tomorrow, don't know. Toronto is the last.
Speaker 1:Typically she has weekends.
Speaker 3:So this coming weekend is the last weekend of the whole tour.
Speaker 1:It could be.
Speaker 3:Huh.
Speaker 1:Was Canada the end.
Speaker 3:I think, yeah, I think it's the end.
Speaker 1:Okay. What an era what an era funny, can't believe I got to see her twice.
Speaker 3:Can't believe I made it in the documentary. I honestly forgot that.
Speaker 1:That's pretty crazy don't ever forget that. How dare you?
Speaker 3:well, the other kelsey thing was travis's acting debut is upon us, did you see the trailer yeah no, I haven't seen the trailer. I was gonna watch the show though he's in a very tiny bit of the trailer Like he announces it. He's like hey, everyone like so excited for you to see the new show Grotesquery, you might see a familiar face, and then he's in it for the trailer for 0.3 seconds. Yeah, but honestly looks kind of like he looks like he's acting. I'm going to watch it.
Speaker 3:He doesn't look that awkward to me, or what you would think, I guess because you know he's a football player. So I'm interested. I'm going to watch. Okay, let's check it out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, did you have something else to say?
Speaker 2:That's all I have.
Speaker 1:I did some more, uh, pop culture origins, if you're curious.
Speaker 2:I would like to.
Speaker 1:I had a lot of fun doing this and I have a long list, so I just thought I'd throw some more in every now and then, but I have three new pop culture origins. I have three that I wanted to go over tonight and so I'm curious what you think about these. Okay, first is YOLO, which stands for you only live once. What's your guess? What's the origin of YOLO?
Speaker 3:YOLO Kind of this is a little bit of a blind spot for me. I feel like it just like happened out of nowhere in my life. So Well, I guess.
Speaker 1:I should. I'm going to be specific when do you think you only live once.
Speaker 3:Oh, you only live once. Where do I think? I actually have no idea, so I'm just going to make something up, and I think that this came from a British singer said it in a song Okay.
Speaker 1:The earliest known use of a phrase similar to you only live once dates back to an essay by the French writer Jean de Labreur in the 17th century, where he said one must live like it's one's only life. However, beautiful.
Speaker 1:The earliest known use of the specific phrase you only live once in its acronym YOLO this is pretty funny In modern time was in a 19th century ad for a book titled the Lives of Distinguished Americans, which used quote you only live once to encourage the readers to purchase the book. Drake is credited with popularizing YOLO as a modern cultural phenomenon in his 2011 song titled.
Speaker 3:The Motto. Sorry, I jumped that for you.
Speaker 1:Well, you were catching on, so that is where YOLO Interesting.
Speaker 3:So Drake really put it on the map in 2011.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's a good song.
Speaker 3:I still listen to it to this day.
Speaker 1:That is a good song Air day, air day.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:That's the first one. Okay, next Lit and a yeah, uh, that's, that's the first one, okay, next lit lit, that's lit, that's lit.
Speaker 3:What other uses of the word lit do you know?
Speaker 1:literature okay, english lit okay. Uh, in the verna, in the pop culture vernacular, where do you, where do you hear the word lit?
Speaker 3:in the pop culture, vernacular that's lit.
Speaker 1:I just gave you one yeah what's another way, like what's another way we use lit.
Speaker 3:That's not about not an abbreviation for literature outside of that's lit, or like she's lit um I'll give you a hint the about lights.
Speaker 1:I sound like a boomer so the word lit, as it was originally used, dates back to 1910. Okay, and we still use it in that same way as well as that's lit. So do you want?
Speaker 3:to the candle is lit.
Speaker 1:Okay, I'm gonna cut you off, boomer. The word lit has origins dating back to 1910, where it was initially used in american english to describe someone who was on fire drunk or high, let's get lit.
Speaker 3:Oh, for real, that's pretty crazy, that is where it started in 1910.
Speaker 1:If someone was drunk or high, they would say that they were lit, and we still use it that way.
Speaker 3:Yeah, like it came back. People forgot. I wonder if someone read that and they were like that's pretty cool, I'm going to start using that again.
Speaker 1:But thanks to modern hip hop, namely Travis Scott, it's held. It's held strong and has stretched to mean anything that's thrilling, cool or enjoyable that's lit.
Speaker 3:Travis Scott.
Speaker 1:But yeah, we still say like I was like, if they were so late last night it's not funny 1910.
Speaker 2:It's held on.
Speaker 3:That is pretty or come back around, like you said. Yeah, interesting.
Speaker 1:Okay, what about the word Stan?
Speaker 3:Stan, I do know that modernly that's not a word Modernly.
Speaker 1:In the modern vernacular.
Speaker 3:Sure, it comes from the Eminem song.
Speaker 1:You're fucking right.
Speaker 3:Stan, which is referring to a really intense fan. That is like stalking him and then like wants to off themselves if he doesn't like acknowledge him. So I know that that's the answer oh, it is. Yeah, oh, my god, I finally got on. You did Eminem. It doesn't.
Speaker 1:It's not popularized it no, he abbreviated yeah, no, it's him from his song stan so he fully made that up fully made it up because it's a fan.
Speaker 3:That is what's the st because, it's like a crazy fan. But what's the like? It's coming from a fan, right, but like it's a crazy fan. So how did it turn into stan? I didn't get that deep in it, I just was looking for the origin. It's a crazy fan, so how did it turn into Stan?
Speaker 1:I didn't get that deep in it, I just was looking for the origin it's from.
Speaker 3:Cause the song is like the person keeps calling, like writing in to him. Right Dear in this way in the song is the person named Stan that they're writing into.
Speaker 1:I don't know, or is it?
Speaker 3:writing into Eminem. You never heard it.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 3:Eminem equals going to hell, so I can't listen to him. Okay, I'm gonna play it. We obviously can't play it on the um video, but I'm gonna play a little bit for you, just so you can hear how it goes. Okay, before I go on. You've definitely heard an excerpt of this. When you hear it, when you hear the dino part, you'll, I'm sure, just like in culture, now that you're like in real life now that I live in real life, yeah, uh-huh okay.
Speaker 3:So it says dear slim. So he's writing to eminem dear slim, I wrote you, but you still ain't calling. I left my cell, my pager and my home phone on the bottom. I sent two letters back in autumn. You must not have got him. So it's like he's he's writing in, he's, but eminem's not responding, because this kid's a fan. Then it goes the verse two is dear slim, you still ain't called or wrote. I hope you have a chance. I'm not mad. I'm just gonna read this in my own yeah, that's fine, I can't I'm with you, um, I think it's effed up.
Speaker 3:You don't answer your fans. If you didn't want to talk to me outside your concert, you didn't have to, but you could have signed an autograph for me. I waited in the cold for you for hours and you just said no, that's pretty shitty man. I'm just like you. I never knew my father either. He used to beat my mom Like he's like relating to him. And then verse three goes oh, dear mister, I'm too good to call right my fans. This will be the last package I'll ever send.
Speaker 3:Still six months and still no word. I don't deserve it. I know you got my last two letters. I wrote the addresses on them. Perfect, you could have rescued me from drowning. Now it's too late. I'm a thousand. I'm on a thousand downers. Now I'm drowsy. All I wanted was a lousy letter or a call. So he's on a downward spiral, okay, if you know what I mean. Yeah, um, I loved you, slam. We could have been together. Talk about it. You ruin it now. I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it, and then I think it ends poorly for the writer.
Speaker 4:If you will, I'm saying that in a nice way but it is like a.
Speaker 3:It's a thing about like a parasol.
Speaker 1:Honestly, I'm ahead of his time on the parasocial relationship thing of like fans, but the word stan is not used, so that's how that must be why oh, that's what you wanted to see, if the word stan is right so I'm wondering if, like, it's a made-up word by him and because of the context of the song. That is why we've adopted it as meaning like an obsessive fan yeah, hold on.
Speaker 3:So at the the very. So it does say stan. At the end of verse one it says just to truly yours, I'm your biggest fan. This is stan, so I guess his name is stan, but I do think it does seem like eminem made this up that's sincerely yours, stan. Yeah, dear stan. Oh, eminem does write him back. I forgot.
Speaker 1:Wow, there's a rebuttal.
Speaker 3:Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner, I've just been busy. You said your girlfriend's pregnant now. How far along is she?
Speaker 1:So Stan is the name of a man and he is an obsessive fan, and so now we've taken Stan and added a fan culture. Okay, dr Seuss, but basically what it is is it's like yeah, we've done. We've um made it a little less intense. Now we'll be like I stand that correct, yeah.
Speaker 3:So yeah, it's like, um, it's making it a little light-hearted. Obviously, with eminem, it was like an intense fan who takes it too far. We make it like a little like funnier and light-hearted and been like for someone who we are a really big fan of. It's like oh, I stand them right and we're probably not writing them 500 times and like no forcing them to respond.
Speaker 1:The only time I ever was obsessive like that, besides elijah wood, was to toby mcguire, and he did mail me one of his autographs so cute I have a picture of toby mcguire autographed that's fun.
Speaker 3:I've sent some people. Not that I'm Tobey Maguire status I don't presume to be so but I have sent some signed things. Signed headshots.
Speaker 4:Signed underwear.
Speaker 3:I don't have many headshots, so please don't ask me for one, because I actually think I have zero.
Speaker 1:It's 4321, po Box 654.
Speaker 3:I actually have zero headshots and I don't even know how to print them, so don't ask me for that.
Speaker 1:She's in la, as as if, like, every corner is in a place you could print headshots it is every headshots are like like special they're photos printed on okay, eight and a half by eleven sure yeah, and then you staple your resume to the other side.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and there you go okay, well, still, please don't ask for anyway, guys, there's your uh I can't believe I actually got one right, you did.
Speaker 1:You got one. You nailed it because I had no idea, because the only stan I know is stanley. Can you see him in my camera?
Speaker 2:no oh guys, stan is on my lap, curled up and very hot he's very cute, I'm so warm with him oh, we have two speak pipes we have one that just came in seven minutes ago it's like they knew speak pipes all right, everyone ready for speak pipe corner for.
Speaker 4:Alex you mentioned that you are on set of before last week and if you did watch, who was your? I'm not in touch with, I can't remember who it was last week and if you did watch Pretty Little Lies, who was your like theory on who Ayer was and your favourite character? And the same question goes for you, Alison, and what was it like to work with Rita Ora on the?
Speaker 2:TFM shoot.
Speaker 4:Rita Ora. She just seems so down to earth, she seems so lovely.
Speaker 1:Well, you were just talking about her.
Speaker 4:I'm so sorry if I sound so bizarre with my voice. I actually have COVID at the moment. That's not what I wanted, but, um, you guys have been making my time resting a lot more enjoyable by watching you guys, so I'm going to go call for you guys. You guys are amazing. Love you guys.
Speaker 1:Bye okay, first of all, I hope you're feeling better. I know that please feel better that speakpike's been sitting in the inbox for like a week or so.
Speaker 3:It has. We didn't get to it last week. I do apologize.
Speaker 1:I hope you're feeling better.
Speaker 3:You mentioned it was very hard for me to hear.
Speaker 1:I caught Pretty Little Liars. What's who's my favorite character?
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:And then what's it like working with Rita? So yes, I worked on pretty little liars for a couple seasons. I had a really good time on that show. Um, I did not watch the show until after the show was finished. This this happened to me a lot when I was working on shows. Like I am bummed that I was not into how I met your mother when I was on it, because the way that I loved that show after I after it was done yeah and how I was just like on set with Neil Patrick Harris and.
Speaker 3:Colby Smothers Kobe's name yeah oh, I've never heard her real name before and they were just, and it was just so like I was like yeah but anyway, pretty little liars fun show to work on my.
Speaker 1:I loved working on anything that was on the warner brothers lot. It was the best lot in la to work on. Hated the paramount lot. That's where I had. I was there a lot.
Speaker 3:Where's that?
Speaker 1:glee, it's on sunset um. And then culver city was my second favorite, but Universal was fine. I did. Desperate Housewives was my very first featured background.
Speaker 3:Wait, I thought Wisteria Lane was on Warner Brothers.
Speaker 1:No, Wisteria Lane is at Universal. It's part of the Universal Studios tour.
Speaker 3:It is.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 3:I thought I went to Wisteria Lane when I was on the Warner Brothers, because it's also. Wisteria Lane is also where Pretty Little Liars was a little bit and it's right next to Stars Hollow. The house is, I think, desperate House Wait.
Speaker 1:You're wrong, I mean you were there.
Speaker 3:Stars Hollow is Warner Brothers, yeah.
Speaker 1:Stars Hollow is also the Pretty Little Liars city. They're the same town. The church in Pretty Little Liars is the church in Gilmore Girls.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 1:That's the very first thing you see, Wisteria Lane is on Universal Studios.
Speaker 2:Hmm, all right.
Speaker 1:And I got to help. Oh my God.
Speaker 3:Oh, you're so right yeah.
Speaker 1:I know, anyway, universal and Warnerer brothers, they're my, they were my favorite to work on. Anyway. Put it in liars great time, um. My favorite character on the show is probably hannah um, but I love shay mitchell so much did we not talk about this? We didn't talk about this part of it. I talked about my troyan uh, when I didn't know who any of them were, and I told her to get to the back of the line.
Speaker 3:I thought we talked about our favorite characters, because I'm having deja vu on me being like emily was the worst character, although I do love shay mitchell we love shay yeah yeah, so that's, that's my answer for that allison how was it like working with rita aura?
Speaker 1:we were just talking about it she was very nice.
Speaker 3:she was so sweet, very, very complimentary. She worked so fast.
Speaker 1:Soups down to earth right.
Speaker 3:Very down to earth and we literally like shot once. We shot her dancing with us once and then we shot a TikTok.
Speaker 2:Hell yeah.
Speaker 3:And it happened so fast. The only thing love you, rita. She was 45 minutes late and I had to pee, so bad.
Speaker 1:And you were on a mountain Like what were you gonna do?
Speaker 3:well, hayley and I had to go down which, where we film is, there's a. The closest bathroom is very scary is it. It's by the merry-go-round which I did learn that walt disney used to like go there a lot with his kids kids um, so that's and cool, but there's a bathroom next to it. That's very scary, and that's the only one.
Speaker 1:But is it an operational bathroom?
Speaker 3:It is. It's just like any park bathroom. It's not kept well. It's dirty, there's like probably no, so it's just like it's not.
Speaker 1:No, I get it.
Speaker 3:Especially because that merry-go-round is not operational. So it's just like it's not. No, I get it, especially because that merry-go-round is not operational. So it's like right, no one's actively caring about what that bathroom?
Speaker 1:Yeah, there's just, there's just murderers.
Speaker 3:Literally. So, she was 45 minutes late, but that's the only downside and, and I understand you know, pop stars are busy. Pop stars and stars of, but I just had to use the restroom so bad and and eventually hayley and I both were like cameron we are sorry, we have to go to the bathroom. And we came back and like she still wasn't even there yet, but when she was there, she was very nice and wonderful so period period. Oh, we have another one let's hear it.
Speaker 1:Is it Emily giving us an update?
Speaker 3:It's anonymous, hey guys.
Speaker 2:Hey, it's your girl, Emily, and Bash here.
Speaker 3:Oh, we want to say how awesome your podcast is we love you guys so much Every Monday morning.
Speaker 4:Um, that's all.
Speaker 1:Emily, we love a shout out. Thank you for being a listener. Emily does send me marcos like pretty much every monday to be like okay, I'm listening to the pod and gives her input on what's happening yeah heather, I know you're listening.
Speaker 3:I'm still waiting for you to honestly, the pause before and the hey before she said emily, I thought it was heather I would know it's heather right.
Speaker 1:I could see why you'd think that Heather will no Heather please.
Speaker 3:Heather, if you don't, not only are you fact checking us every week.
Speaker 1:but like I know you have some, you have something to say, let's say it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, thank you so much, emily, and Bash her cutie dog. Thank you, daniela. And that ends SpeakPipe Corner.
Speaker 1:That's all the SpeakPipes. Everything is a corner. We have so many corners in this podcast.
Speaker 3:We sure do. Did you have something? Oh, you wanted to talk about music.
Speaker 1:Oh, guys, I wanted to say like okay. So I think we're going to try to implement this thing, where I want to know what your song of the week is and what your movie recommendation of the week is.
Speaker 1:And what your movie recommendation of the week is, I have mine movie is tough okay, so here's my song of the week, so my new anthem, which is not, which is so funny, because it's like are always been one of my favorite songs, it's just like so. First of all, everyone who knows me knows my favorite disney character of all time is one, two, three power line right, okay, you were almost. Yeah, it was so fast it was fast and eye to eye is like the greatest disney song ever ever made the greatest maybe pop song ever made literally.
Speaker 1:And there's another song in the movie, though. I mean the whole soundtrack's incredible, but stand out which is the song that max sings to get roxanne to think he's cool at the school you don't get to hear the whole thing, but the actual full song by tevin campbell's whatever point is.
Speaker 1:The lyrics of the song are so empowering for me right now. I've I hadn't forgotten about it, but I've just like I play eye to eye every day. I put stand out on my playlist. A couple days ago on my hike today, I literally just had it on repeat and I was like this is the song of my moment yeah
Speaker 1:stand out above the crowd, even if I've got a shout out loud till mine is the only face you'll see that you're not even looking at right now. Everyone, I'm gonna stand out till you notice me and I'm like fuck, yes, yeah. So my song of the week is stand out by tevin campbell, aka powerline, from a goofy movie. It's streaming on all the the music platforms. Guys, listen to it and have fun and dance.
Speaker 3:Love.
Speaker 1:Okay, what about?
Speaker 3:you. Okay, here's my thing. I will get to a real song of the week, or whatever.
Speaker 1:Sure.
Speaker 3:But to go off of what you just said, of like having a song of the moment. I've never experienced that. I've only experienced that one time.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 3:Because I'm not a listen to songs on repeat, kind of girl.
Speaker 1:Was it Billie Eilish? No, oh, okay, sorry, sorry, relax.
Speaker 3:I was going through a low point in my life and the song from the Greatest Showman this Is Me I used to listen to You're like crying, literally. I was like I would listen to it all hours of the day because I was like it's the only like thing that gave me any like joy, happiness and hope. And I just want to shout out to that song because it really got me through something, and that's the literally the only time that's ever happened to me.
Speaker 3:That's the power of music. Yes, my real song of the week, I think, because here's my thing everyone I don't discover new music. I'm so the opposite of Alex. He's always listening to those playlists on Spotify. That's like New Music Friday and all that. I'm not doing that. I'm still listening to my playlist from senior year of college.
Speaker 1:Sure, that's fine, thank goodness, your job requires you to learn new music yeah.
Speaker 3:So the way I learn new music is through the fitness martial dances that we do, and I just want to put make my song of the week, porcelain by the jojo the jojo because it is really good and she's so sweet and oh my god, the piano version.
Speaker 1:Have you heard that one yet? I haven't, and I will.
Speaker 3:I would love to listen to it also beyonce's new song I like, so that can also be honorable mention I love that.
Speaker 1:What about a movie? Do you have a movie of the week?
Speaker 3:I don't because I've. Okay, can I just say that I'm re-watching the show. Younger can it be show or? Sure maybe I'm re-watching the show younger because I needed something mundane for my anxious brain. Yeah, and I'm real, I'm loving it. It's like so and such an easy watch and it's like and we love sutton and hillary. Side note, are you aware that sutton and hugh jackman are rumored to be together? Yes, and like that's very exciting for the Broadway community. It's kind of tea because he just got divorced.
Speaker 1:I also thought he was gay.
Speaker 3:Many do, but he was married for a really long time.
Speaker 2:Yes, he was.
Speaker 3:But he just got divorced not that long ago and they were in Music man together while he was still married. I think yes. So then now people are questioning.
Speaker 1:And she just got divorced. I was unaware of her marital status to be really honest. A couple months ago.
Speaker 3:So, yeah, the tea is. Did they have something going on while they were doing the music man? Or did they just know each other from the industry, because they have both been in the Broadway world for a very long time? And is it just like the right timing of like we know each other, we're friends, we're newly single, let's like see what's up, what is it? I don't know I don't think we'll ever know. I don't think they're the type of people that would we won't ever know.
Speaker 1:It's not our business, but it is, it's not.
Speaker 3:It's just like tea and and they're both like powerhouse you know, actor and broadwayers singers, dancers, actors so anyway, if you've never watched the show younger and you want like a mundane, like sitcom-y type of thing to get you by, and if you love hillary duff, hillary duff, hi, hillary duff.
Speaker 1:Yeah, my movie of the week is and I don't think you've watched it this season, I'm sure I haven't. No, you have seen it, but you haven't watched it this season, and I've watched it now twice practical magic.
Speaker 3:Yes, you want to know why. I tried to watch it the other day and no, I do not have a way to watch it. I don't understand. It's like not on any service that I have do you not have?
Speaker 1:are you not logged into my hbo?
Speaker 3:I am, yes, but when I searched because, like you know how, on apple tv, if you search on the. You search on the Siri it only came up to me to buy it.
Speaker 1:Literally just watched this last week.
Speaker 3:So did they take it off?
Speaker 1:I'm checking, I'm checking.
Speaker 3:Because I tried, like two days ago, to watch it and I was upset.
Speaker 1:They literally did, just take it off.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm upset. I tried to watch it like a couple of days ago.
Speaker 1:Oh my.
Speaker 2:God.
Speaker 3:It's nowhere unless you buy it.
Speaker 1:Sorry but it is my movie of the week it's an incredible movie and I'm upset and last thing I want to say. It has nothing to do with any of this. Anyway, guys, those are erects as well younger practical, by practical magic, I guess listen to stand out and beyonce's new song slash porcelain, porcelain by jojo, and learn the dance by the fitness marshal in the back of booties, please.
Speaker 1:I am seeing snakes oh yeah guys, I hike four times a week. Okay, and I would say recently I would say three out of the four times, but now it's four out of four snakes. Okay, I haven't shared this with you yet but a lot of people were DMing me when I posted this. Like, first of all, snakes in the spiritual realm really represent like shedding your old skin coming into new.
Speaker 2:Oh, my God.
Speaker 1:So it's like very metaphorical for me yeah. But also a lot of people were like what the fuck are you a Slytherin? Yeah, and I had to be like no, I'm really not. And I had to be like no, I'm really not, I'm a. I'm a Ravenclaw, right.
Speaker 3:But are you?
Speaker 1:I took. So Emma DMs me and she's like have you taken this test? And I was, and where it gives you percentages. So it is similar to Pottermore but it's not Pottermore.
Speaker 3:I want to do it.
Speaker 1:And it gives you percentages. So it's like you're this much of this house, this much of this, this this. I took this test in the current state of who I am now. I came out a Gryffindor.
Speaker 3:I can see that.
Speaker 1:Only a few percent behind Gryffindor Slytherin.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you're Harry Potter. You are Harry.
Speaker 1:Guys, I'm a.
Speaker 3:Gryffindor who speaks Parseltongue. But Harry initially the Sorting Hat wanted to put him in Slytherin.
Speaker 1:What.
Speaker 3:Do you not remember that?
Speaker 1:No, I don't know. He goes Gryffindor. No, he puts on the sorting hat and he's like yeah because of the connection to Voldemort and I thought it was because Harry was going.
Speaker 3:no, because he says that and he's like Slytherin and he's like honestly like, yeah, you could be in Slytherin.
Speaker 1:Oh well, so, guys, I and Slytherin. Oh well, so, guys, I'm seeing snakes. I am a little bit, I'm a Gryffindor and just slightly below Gryffindor. I'm a Slytherin, then I'm a Ravenclaw, then I'm a Hufflepuff. Wow so it could be the new.
Speaker 3:You could have been you all along.
Speaker 1:I sent that to Megan because you know, megan, and I have wondered my whole life why I'm not a Hufflepuff. I fit the full description of a hufflepuff and then she oh sorry, I was thinking gryffindor no, hufflepuff, she was like you know what you've changed and our houses probably changed as we get older yeah, for sure, and I can definitely see you as a gryffindor because you are, like, brave in the sense of like and loyal but, like you, are always going to show up for someone in need. Period.
Speaker 3:And that is very Gryffindor Like. Like you are not you. You obviously like can be self-interested if it, if you're like protecting your peace, but like you also will put others before you.
Speaker 1:True. So, but all that to say, guys, these snakes be snaking, and today's snake was not a venomous one, but the previous snakes are always rattlesnakes, but today's wasn't.
Speaker 3:Literally I go on that hike also and I never see a snake. So either I am blind to snakes and I'm going to get bit by a rattlesnake one day, but I think most people are, because snakes blend into the ground.
Speaker 1:That's the whole point.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I am just hyper aware. I try so hard because I'm scared of them, because we've had multiple run-ins, you and I, where you've had to pull me by the neck.
Speaker 1:This is a fact, you guys. Multiple times I've been on the hikes with Allison and their snakes. So three days ago it was a rattlesnake a baby rattlesnake crossing the path and I posted on my story and I put a little slytherin scarf on him. Did you notice?
Speaker 1:I did, it was cute and there was a man coming and he was like, jovially walking and smiling. I was like hey, hold on. And he was like hi. And I was like no, hold on, there's a snake. And he was like, oh, so we let the snake cross yeah which was the, but it was scared.
Speaker 1:He was like shaking his little rattle. But baby rattle snakes are worse because they're way more venomous, oh my god. So we had to let him pass. Then today I told allison this guys, today's snake was snake of the day this snake of the day was also crossing, but he saw me coming so he like held up and he was like bobbing his head back and forth, kind of like this which you can't see.
Speaker 1:But he's like allison, do it, it's doing that and I was like okay, so I back up a little bit. He starts to slither across the path. A man and a tiny dog are approaching. I'm like hey, hey, hey, and he like takes his ear, his little air pod out and I was like there's a snake crossing. And he literally looks at me and goes okay, and then just continues on. He didn't care. He literally like cut the snake off.
Speaker 2:Uh-uh.
Speaker 1:Yes, and I was like but his little dog, which is Stanley sized, didn't care. That's so scary. Anyway, I was just trying to. I mean, it wasn't a venomous, it was not a venomous one.
Speaker 3:How do you know if they're venomous or not?
Speaker 2:Well, I know what a garden snake looks like. It's giving Rob from Love Island, who, well, I just know like he's, like the snake wrangler.
Speaker 1:This is just like a garden snake run-of-the-mill garden snake.
Speaker 3:It also didn't to me. Like you also see lots of black widow spiders, more than anyone else I've ever met in my life.
Speaker 1:So something about you is connected to poisonous and venomous uh bugs and snakes just you guys, wait until you see the bad boy emerge after this program, should you get a snake tattoo no, okay, I hate snakes. Here's the thing. I love all living things. I also wondered if that snake was thirsty. I felt kind of bad for it.
Speaker 3:But oh, do they drink water like?
Speaker 1:that. Yeah, they drink water with their tongues. But here's the thing I don't enjoy them. Of the like creepy creatures in the world, snakes are the ones like I can hold a spider, I'll touch a spider, I'll pick a spider up. The spider could be massive and be on me, that's fine. But a snake I don't want it near me.
Speaker 3:I would rather a snake than a spider. Since Halloween just passed, were you seeing videos of people going to that 17th door thing? No, do you know what that is?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I do know what it is. I did see one video and there's that dude that you went and saw in concert, Grant. Oh yeah, but I just saw like this is me before going in and I just skipped it.
Speaker 3:That's what people do. It's me before and after, but I follow some people that tried to go Two things. So, yeah, I follow these people that tried to go and before they even filled out the waiver, this guy now they're influencers and they were there to film, so they think that this probably was the reason this guy did this. But one of the workers literally came up, stuck a taser like up their butthole not up, but to it and taste them before they even signed the waiver did they get in trouble?
Speaker 3:They like said something to the like girl who was coordinating them, being able to film before they opened, and she was like, oh, we're going to scold him, but it's like no, that's illegal. Like they had not signed the waiver, like, and they talked about it on their podcast for thousands of people to see. So, like I'm, I feel like something.
Speaker 2:Is it in LA?
Speaker 3:It's in Buena Park.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 3:Underneath the mall, apparently.
Speaker 1:I don't know, but so it's right near Knott's Berry.
Speaker 3:Yes, in that, one of the things. So, if you guys don't know, this is like a torture. It's not an escape room, it's not a haunted house, it's like a torture thing where you have 17 rooms of different torturous things and basically they can um, they like cut your hair, they tase you, they. Basically there's like a thing of suffocation, where you like stand against the wall and they have this like plastic things that they suck all the air out of you or out of the thing. I don't know how long they hold you there, but like scary, it's like to induce panic. Obviously it's probably just a few seconds, but there's like a water where they shoot you with water or like something. I don't know. It's crazy things, but one of them is they sit you in this thing and put your arms, like hold your arms down and then they put a tarantula on your face and the way that I I would actually pass away.
Speaker 1:I could do that, but also I feel bad that, like this, spider has to perform that many times, so many times, they also put cockroaches, like on you.
Speaker 3:And this guy saw a video and he walks out and he's like doing a little vlog and he's like I had a great time. And then there's like a cockroach in his sleeve and he's like oh, this little guy tried to come with me, absolutely not.
Speaker 1:I feel like the tarantula is bad, but this cockroach would somehow be worse for you.
Speaker 3:It would actually. I am like my eyes are like welling up right now with anxiety. The amazing race is not fear factor in any way.
Speaker 1:What I guess?
Speaker 3:they're not near close at all, but there is like a little necklace that you can buy for additional money that says like it's like a mercy thing, where it's like you can opt out of bugs, and I don't know.
Speaker 1:A mercy necklace.
Speaker 3:Yeah, but on the thing it's like it's only 93% effective because sometimes they don't they can't see your neck see your necklace. Anyway, the spider reminded me of that and that's something that I don't want to do. Like I'm pretty down to do most things and some of the stuff on there I could get away with. Like they put you in a room and then they drop like balls, like a ball pit, but it goes like higher than you, so you're kind of like stuck in it. I don't think I would be panicked by that.
Speaker 1:What are the logistics of this thing? I need to look into it, like how do they reset these rooms?
Speaker 3:I don't know. It's a 30 minute thing, so I think they allot an hour and then as soon as you leave a room, they're prepping it. I feel like they have enough workers that as soon as that party.
Speaker 1:Do you go in one at a time? I?
Speaker 3:think you have a party of a certain amount of people Like you do. A time slot Got it Possibly.
Speaker 1:Okay, Well.
Speaker 3:I don't know, I don't want to do it, creepy crawlers, snakes and spiders.
Speaker 1:Happy Halloween, it's time for Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3:That's what a nice tagline. Do you want to know the birthdays and then we can wrap this up? It seems like you're trying to get out of here.
Speaker 1:Okay, so what I forgot to say at the top of this is so Allison and I host this podcast through a program that allots us a certain amount of hours every month oh that's right, and we've been doing very lengthy episodes where we're running out of our time.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:So I just like forgot to say that before we started that, like we are, how long do we have? We have six hours of use a month and last month we went over, which is why I had to do the take it down and put it up on the first of this month. So now we're encroaching on like being over again.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:I'm not I am also trying to wrap this up because we have a date. We do Okay, Well um no, I want to hear that Okay.
Speaker 3:Well there was a big. There's a lot of empty space in the. In the middle of this, from finding eminem and cutting all that out, it's fine okay so birthdays for today, november 11th, which I think is also veterans day.
Speaker 1:November 11th is a lucky ass day you guys.
Speaker 3:11, 11, oh my gosh. Well, birthdays for today are leonardo dicaprio 50. He is now the big 5-0. And are his girlfriends going to stay 25?
Speaker 1:Of course they are.
Speaker 3:What's that Taylor Swift lyric you keep getting older, but your girlfriends stay the same, or something like that.
Speaker 1:I love that. Is that the lyric? I feel like it is I think it's about you know who.
Speaker 3:10 minute version. Oh yes, jerry Maguire, it is. I think it's about you know who.
Speaker 1:10 minute version oh yes, jerry mcguire, jerry mcguire, that's a movie, jake, jillian, jillian okay, patrick star is 35, he's our age okay, shit demi more.
Speaker 3:What do you think?
Speaker 1:demi more demi more is our parents age, so I think she's 60 a little higher 62 62 crazy vinny guadagnino of the jersey shore um. Vinny is younger than I think he's probably younger than us. He's not younger than they're all.
Speaker 3:He was the youngest on the show, though right he was, but remember they were drinking when we were in high school no, I mean, I was watching jersey jersey shore in 2010, which so is he 35 he's 37. Okay, the height for me of jersey shore was when I was a sophomore in college.
Speaker 1:But when did it start? I feel I feel like we were in high school Maybe, like a year before.
Speaker 3:I guess it could have been our senior year, to be honest. Okay, but Okay, 37.
Speaker 1:Yeah 37.
Speaker 3:But, like Mike, is much older.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yes, I do know that.
Speaker 3:He was like the oldest, he was already like.
Speaker 1:I learned a lot about him this week.
Speaker 3:You did.
Speaker 1:Yeah, listening to Call Her Daddy. Podcast with Aubrey.
Speaker 3:Oh, I didn't know.
Speaker 1:You need to listen to that episode. It's wild.
Speaker 3:This person I love so much and if anything ever comes out bad about this person Like I will pass away. Good guess, no, Stanley Tucci.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah Do you know how old he is 65, Close, 64, oh yeah yeah, yeah, do you know how old he is? 65.
Speaker 3:Close 64.
Speaker 1:I hope he's doing well because he's fighting cancer.
Speaker 3:I know I can't really think about it, because he's just a.
Speaker 1:Treasure, treasure. Yeah, he's a treasure.
Speaker 3:Samara Joy.
Speaker 1:Oh, samara Joy, she was in that movie we just watched, right.
Speaker 3:And she won a Grammy for something right, okay so sorry, that's not what I'm thinking of then. Am I crazy?
Speaker 1:Is Samara Joy not the girl from Ready or Not? She's like a jazz singer, right.
Speaker 3:Hold on. Yeah, she's a singer, she.
Speaker 1:I'm off.
Speaker 3:You are.
Speaker 1:I'm so sorry I'm off. You are. I'm so sorry, I'm off.
Speaker 3:She's a jazz singer. Wow, I'm.
Speaker 1:Wow.
Speaker 3:So knowledgeable.
Speaker 1:Good for you she's. I have no idea, no concept, can't even picture a face.
Speaker 3:I feel like you've seen her face. She's 25. I'll show you.
Speaker 1:What a bebe. What's a song she's known for.
Speaker 3:I don't know the titles of jazz songs.
Speaker 1:Well, can you scat it for me? Scooby-doo-bop babe, she is gorgeous, she is. What the hell? Can you please name a song? I sure?
Speaker 3:can Forget it.
Speaker 1:I'm already on Spotify, okay.
Speaker 3:She won Best New Artist of 2023. Grammys.
Speaker 1:Best New Artist.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Samara Joy. Let's see Top song. Everything happens to me Not a clue, but I'm going to listen to this because that sounds relaxing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think jazz would be great for you.
Speaker 1:It would be great for me.
Speaker 3:Wow, and this is weird full circle. But in 1994, the movie the Santa Claus came out and I did make this list, but I wasn't thinking about it when we referenced it earlier.
Speaker 1:Because I quoted something that made you think about that.
Speaker 3:True, so that Black Panther Wakanda Forever came out on this day in 2022. And the new Christmas classic Spirited came out on this day in 2022. And the new Christmas classic spirited that came out on this day in 2022 as well.
Speaker 1:Love that.
Speaker 3:So there you go, everyone Yep, and that that's the end of this program.
Speaker 1:So guys, just don't forget. Jamie saved my life. I'll always miss her, but I love it's like the wind.
Speaker 3:You can't see it it, but you can feel it and seen.
Speaker 1:Remember when every girl thought they could sing that song, so I lay my head yeah, and they couldn't. That is a great song, though I love that song. I love that I bought that soundtrack at Meyer and cried and cried oh my gosh Meyer.
Speaker 3:Wow, I can't wait to go there in a few weeks you blessed child all right, love you everyone. We'll see you next week have a great safe week have a good goodbye, bye, bye.
