welcome back to the a-list podcast with allison and alex. I'm alex, I'm allison and this is the a-list. These lights seem different.
Speaker 3:I made them darker or like dimmer, because last also, you know, nothing's consistent.
Speaker 2:That's fine.
Speaker 3:But this looks nice and I can see the purple more on you, which is love Cute.
Speaker 1:I mean, this is all about to change, so yeah, Well, hello hey everyone, how are you?
Speaker 3:Hello you, hello you hello you I'm good, good, oh, finally, this upload, this updated, so now I can actually like see my notes here um did you watch the sabrina carpenter holiday? I tried to. I got bored same.
Speaker 2:So what I have to say is that I did not care about any of the songs. I think that the little acting like little scenes, little bits, were the funniest part, like that was the best part, and the actual songs, like were boring.
Speaker 3:I got to Tyler and then I was like, yeah, I'm bored.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I kept fast forward.
Speaker 3:It looked cute.
Speaker 2:It did look cute, I think um the script was actually cute cause they allowed her to be like her kind of little naughty self. Yeah, it was giving SNL on the yeah, for sure. And I just I kept fast forwarding through the songs and then I would watch those and that was it. I enjoyed that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I yeah, I was just like no, I'd rather watch a Hallmark movie. For sure, I did watch a movie that I was like I've been seeing a lot about this, so I'll watch it. Not a holiday movie and it's now in my top five favorite movies. It made me I cried so ever?
Speaker 2:What is it?
Speaker 3:My Old Ass.
Speaker 2:Oh, I did keep seeing that pop up.
Speaker 3:It is.
Speaker 2:What's I just?
Speaker 3:is there something about a boat? Are they on a boat somewhere there? It takes place in canada like in a town that is on a lake, okay, aubrey plaza um maizey stella, which is the stella sisters. I have followed them since they were children I don't know that they got really famous for being, like children, the incredible singers. Two sisters and they did the cup song and then blew up.
Speaker 3:Okay, and then they got cast in the show n two sisters and they did the cup song and then blew up okay and then they got cast in the show nashville and they played sisters on the show nashville and then lenin stella went solo career and she is was in my spotified rap, spotify wrapped um. And then the sister macy.
Speaker 2:They both do acting, but this she incredible actress yeah and I thought it was just going to be like a coming of age, like it's a queer movie oh, I knew nothing about it, other than the image of a rowboat, I feel like, and that's all I knew it's a motorboat oh, okay but the ending is incredible it is the it has the most incredible message about like um life in a way that's not like I don't know.
Speaker 3:It just was like I did not expect to care that much or cry, but I was pulled in immediately by how good everyone's acting was and, of course, aubrey Plaza I love. So, highly recommend, if you haven't seen it, my old assets on Amazon prime.
Speaker 2:Okay, I mean that's good, because I knew nothing about it, so therefore I wasn't. It's a tearjerker, they'll be ready oh no, the premise is everyone.
Speaker 3:Maisie Stella's character turns 18 and she and her two best friends and one of them is from dance moms, and she's also a good actress and, of course, what does she look like? It's Maddie. Um, uh, they go do they do mushrooms in the woods and like have a sleep and she's like her friends are tripping like um everyone but her she thinks and then all of a sudden, she looks over and aubrey plaza is there oh okay, so she's a plaza is her at age 39 got it okay and you think that this like what, what's in what, it's a little like, I guess, fantasy, in that, um, she like has this whole night with her and like talks to her and it's um, it's really hilarious.
Speaker 3:And then she wakes up and she's gone, obviously, but then she finds the Aubrey Plaza, put her number in her cell phone and she's able to call her and text her. So she has, like these conversations with her older self throughout the movie Okay. And what unfolds is like just so beautiful and not at all what I expected this movie to be, but it is so good. Wow. I'm going to watch it again.
Speaker 2:Actually, I was going to download it and watch it on the plane but then I was like I feel like it's an airplane movie for me because it's one of those that like it does sound good and I'm sure I would really like it, but it's gonna be so hard for me to sit down and watch it at this time of year oh because it's just like it is good busy time of year for one.
Speaker 2:I haven't watched anything in a long time. I feel like I just like keep coming home eating dinner. I was watching re-watch younger, so I like had that on the background and then immediately just going to bed, so I haven't really like watched anything. Well, when you feel the urge this is a good one.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think, and it really like also just is shot in the most beautiful place ever and it's like that's where I want to live, like literally.
Speaker 2:It's like where I want to live.
Speaker 3:Like literally, it's like it looks like big bear.
Speaker 2:Oh okay, maybe they filmed it there?
Speaker 3:No, they filmed it in Canada. I was like got to know where this is. Canada, of course.
Speaker 2:Everything's cause it's cheaper and beautiful. Yeah, beautiful it is so beautiful.
Speaker 3:How was your weekend?
Speaker 2:It was good I have to say something. I have two things that are going to contradict each other.
Speaker 3:Oh, right, okay Great.
Speaker 2:Um, the first thing is that I decided that I am not a baker you've decided it I've decided that I did see in chat gbt.
Speaker 3:I logged in and I was like someone's.
Speaker 2:Doubling a cookie recipe must be allison yes, so at the last minute I was told that there was a party, christmas party, and it was also a cookie exchange, and I oh no, that's too much pressure. Cookie exchange and I I could have just done something like regular. You know, and I had just seen on tiktok someone do a brown sugar cinnamon pop tart, like kind of like a brownie, like it wasn't a cookie it was too complicated right and I was like, well, maybe there's a cookie recipe for this and I thought that's sound good
Speaker 2:yeah in theory yeah I thought it would just be like, you know, just the frosting on top is would be yeah the thing. So I found one on t TikTok and it the girl obviously made it look easy, because that's what the internet is is an illusion and I saw the thing and I was like you know what I feel like I can do that the step. It was just a lot of steps because you had to make the dough and then you had to chill the dough because then you had to make a filling and it had to be chilled so that you could form like a ball and then put the filling in, and then you know cover it yeah.
Speaker 2:And then it covered up, and then you baked it, and then you had to also make a frosting then to put on after. Okay, just a lot of steps. Yeah. And I found this recipe and it was only for 12 cookies and I didn't.
Speaker 3:Were they supposed to be like huge?
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:Oh God.
Speaker 2:I didn't think about that, because no one really makes crumble size cookies for real life, of course. So I was just like, oh, it's just like a it's just to make a dozen, and that's just what it is. And so then I was like, well, I need to double this, because there's going to probably be a lot of people at this party, so I need to at least take double that. Yeah, there's a hair right here.
Speaker 3:Your microphone would be your hair.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so I went in and I doubled the recipe Sure. So that's what you saw on ChatGPT. Which actually I was like proud of myself for remembering that I could do that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's so useful. Yes, absolutely.
Speaker 2:So I did that and I had to go buy extra things. I start making it and I get to the point where I need to start forming it. Yeah, and it's like I was using my scale. I was really trying to be precise here, because baking is so like it's just chemistry and you have to be precise, Cause baking is so like it's just chemistry and you have to be precise. So I like put it on my scale and it was like however many grams of the dough? And I was like this is so much. And then I realized, oh, these cookies are supposed to be huge. And I was like I can't take this big of a cookie and it's going to take me so long to bake these because I can only bake like four at a time on the sheet Cause they're so big. So then I cut it in half after I had doubled it.
Speaker 2:So you could have done 24 smaller cookies from the original. Yeah, I could have just done the original recipe and just not made them as big, yeah, so it was a whole thing and I was. My kitchen was insane.
Speaker 3:Was your apartment hot.
Speaker 2:It was so hot. My kitchen was insane because I don't actually have like the right equipment to bake like that.
Speaker 2:Like I don't have a stand mixer, I don't really have big mixing bowls. I have a couple, but those were all being utilized because I needed the dough in one and I needed the filling in the other and all these things. So midway I was just like this I hate everything that's happening right now, but I had to persist. I also I had bought a bag of those you know like cookie dough that is just in a bag and you just add one egg and like a little bit of butter and then that's all you do.
Speaker 2:I bought a backup snickerdoodle bag just in case, these sucked.
Speaker 2:So I had to go out and do something and Josh was on his way and I was like telling him this I was like I think they're ugly because they all the first batch I did, they all touched because I didn't know how much they were going to spread out and so then they weren't perfect circles. I was like they're ugly and I don't know if I did it right and they're going to suck and all this. So he was like I'm just going to your place and trying one. And he did and he was like, first of all, these look good and second of all, they're good, so stop. And I was like, all right, I just wanted to like make a good impression and have like good cookies. It ended up being fine, they were a hit. Okay, they tasted like Is this why it's contradictory?
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 2:So, then the other thing is that I don't know if I told you guys but I am making butter. Is that I don't know if I told you guys, but I am making butter? I saw a TikTok of this girl that was like making butter is actually so easy, and so I did it. And it is so easy. You just take your heavy cream and you just have to mix it for a really long time and you can make butter, and then you can put whatever in it. I made my own right before Thanksgiving and I just like made it salted butter and I was so proud of myself and I had a little sourdough dough, sourdough loaf, that I had a couple mornings Like I had a little morning toast I cut. Now I'm getting served sourdough starters starters.
Speaker 2:And I was like what if I just did it? Because now I'm, and if I'm making butter, I need something to go on to put the butter on. Right, so today, literally I started a sourdough starter. Whoa and.
Speaker 2:I thought when in 2020, when everyone was doing that I was like this is lame, I'm not doing this. I don't have the patience for that. Yeah, but I saw two people that made it look so easy and they were like literally all you have to do is put flour and water in a thing and mix it, and then the next day you dump out half and then you put more flour and water in and you just keep doing that until it gets bubbly.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 2:That's literally it.
Speaker 3:And that's what you're doing. You started that today.
Speaker 2:I started today's day one, so when it?
Speaker 2:gets really bubbly, then that's when you can use it to make your bread and you just like dump however many grams, like it is scientific. So once I get there I'll have to actually look at how much I need to do. But you do a bowl I watch this girl do it and you make a bowl. You take a bowl and you put however much of the starter in and you put water and I think maybe a little bit more flour, and you just mix it. You just have to do the right measurements and then you just form it and you let it proof and then you like need it or whatever, and then you let it proof again and then you just bake it. So I'm like it. Everyone made this seem so much more complicated than it actually seems.
Speaker 3:So I'm just going to do it and I I'm gonna make my own butter, and so that's what's contradictory is that you were like I can't, and then you're like, I guess I'm gonna make sourdough bread though yes, I don't want to bake anything else, but I do want to try baking sourdough okay, I love that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm excited to hear the update I will let everyone know and I will bring over some butter for you if you want some okay, great, I was thinking when you were saying that.
Speaker 3:I was like oh, I bet you could make like cinnamon, sugar, butter, garlic butter yeah the endless amounts.
Speaker 2:Yeah, there's a girl that I started uh started, following on tiktok, that she's made a little uh cookbook of different butters and I can't wait to try them well, I'm.
Speaker 3:So many things you can do, endless possibilities. That's it.
Speaker 2:That was your weekend into the literally, I just went to well, every literally. I got invited to seven different things on saturday and I had to like decline most of them because, um, my gym christmas party was that day. I got invited to one, um, one of my friends, his boyfriend, is a DJ and he had a release party. I couldn't go to that, so Josh and I went to his friend's Christmas party and I feel like there was one more thing I thought Haley's Haley had something right.
Speaker 3:That was on Sunday.
Speaker 2:She had like a little um housewarming and that was. I think there was also something else on Sunday, I don't know. There was too many things this weekend.
Speaker 3:That's this, that's this next weekend for me.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it is. It was wild and I had to just like be, and you know I'm really bad at declining things, or telling people that I can't go to something.
Speaker 3:I've gotten really good at that actually.
Speaker 2:That's a good quality to have, just not having to be like maybe I don't know, I'm not like, I just feel so bad because I want, I want to go to everything. It's just physically. There was not enough time in the day, so that was a whole thing, but it was just a couple of parties and sleep.
Speaker 3:That's, that's actually great.
Speaker 2:Yeah, how was yours?
Speaker 3:It was good I did a. I had a last minute call for a shoot, so I shot all day Saturday at Buzzfeed for um, a Posada event which was through pedal like, and it was just a bunch of like live panels, um, and then there was like a festival happening on the grounds.
Speaker 2:So it was like David Archuleta Um well, two twice in a year.
Speaker 3:He's like recognizing. He's like this guy keeps showing up in all my shows and like, yeah, and he's like hangs out with sid's group of friends too.
Speaker 2:So it's just like oh you are you and david like meant to be together. We'll see, didn't he come out as like? Something that he, yeah, he is um he like announced that he's like verse or something yeah, he came out. It came out that he's verse okay, oh, he is a demisexual yeah oh okay, like that means you like can't be sexual with someone unless you like fall in love with their personality or fall in love with them, but men, I guess.
Speaker 3:So like a gay demisexual for sure um which like shouldn't everyone be that?
Speaker 3:totally it'd be nice, yeah but it was a really fun event. It was a very fun day um and then. So everything I had planned to do on saturday I had to push to sunday. So sunday was just stacked with like a lot of homework and housework and stuff. But it was good. Um, this program that I'm in is coming to an end, so I'm going to have my first alcoholic beverage this weekend in almost five months well, I'm going to this christmas pop-up at my cousin's hotel and there's a bunch of fun festive drinks.
Speaker 1:I don't know which one I'm gonna get. I haven't. Oh my god, I can't wait to hear but I texted him yesterday.
Speaker 3:I was like, hey, I made a reservation me and my friends are coming and he was like I'll make sure that you guys have an amazing time. And then I got an email that my reservation changed and I looked at it but nothing changed. So I think he must have put a note on the account or something. Oh, okay, yeah. So we'll see how that goes Nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I need you to take pictures.
Speaker 3:Oh, I definitely will.
Speaker 2:And guys, don't worry, he invited me, it's just Josh's birthday their first time celebrating a birthday together.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's a lot going on, yes and that, but alice and I are hanging out on sunday because we're going to six flags. I'm so excited I haven't been to six flags yet I know it's gonna be great and she's gonna upgrade her ticket to a pass so that I have someone to go with throughout the year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what I did. The it's it's just like so different from, uh, disney, because disney's yeah, it's so expensive right, but when I went to universal, that's what I did and it was like only 40 to like update for a whole year.
Speaker 3:So it might even be less. They might be like oh, you've actually already paid for a season pass literally but and then, um, so yeah, that was my past weekend, it was good. So yeah, I'm just kind of like gearing up to get back out in the world, which is kind of crazy I'm so excited for you.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he'll. He'll talk about his um experience when he's back on camera at the first of the year. So you'll get the four one one.
Speaker 3:I think it's like January 6th yeah, the January 6th episode. I'll be back on camera celebrating to uh. Yeah, I'll fill you in on all of it. But I am feeling excited and a little nervous because it's just been such a routine for months.
Speaker 2:Yeah Well, you don't have to. You know, come back all at once.
Speaker 3:No, I know.
Speaker 2:In terms of, like you know, with the world.
Speaker 3:Oh, for sure, For sure, but it is still.
Speaker 2:And maybe the new you is a little bit more of a homebody.
Speaker 3:I'm feeling antsy though.
Speaker 2:Oh, like you're ready to do things.
Speaker 3:I'm just more nervous, like like implementing all of these things into I guess. I'm just not. It's not nervous like scared nervous, it's like excited nervous.
Speaker 2:I don't think you'll have a problem with that, because even with things that I've like confided in you, about you, the advice you've given me is from stuff you've learned. So I feel like it's already second nature of you implementing all of these things into just like everyday life.
Speaker 3:I think what I'm excited about is like because it's so regimented and so many hours of each of my day that to have that be freed up is like oh, wow, okay, what am I going to do? I can tell that I can tell the fans and friends and listeners that a big development that's kind of exciting is I'm going to be pursuing being a boxing coach.
Speaker 2:Very excited about that.
Speaker 3:So that audition is in January, love. So we'll see how that goes. I think it's going to be a fun little side thing for me to do. Yeah. And God knows I've paid enough. I could pretty much get my salary back from what I paid.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm excited for that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so we'll see. And in pop culture news Did you see, guys, it's our Diddy Corner.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I have. I have. About Jay-Z yeah, I have it. Well, before we get to that and we also have the Shooter situation Are you seeing all that stuff, which is crazy. The internet is kind of crazy, right now.
Speaker 3:Well, everything's kind of crazy the way that people are.
Speaker 2:I'm confused. Tell me what. The internet is kind of crazy right now. Well, everything's the way that people are. I'm confused.
Speaker 3:Tell me what's confusing.
Speaker 2:All of the tech talks I had seen before this person was caught. Yeah, all the comments were like pro this assassin. Right. Which is like weird, right, I'm not. I understand how the healthcare system is messed up and they take advantage of a lot of people like. I understand all that, but like someone like was actually murdered, so it was like kind of it felt like a black mirror or something I found a tiktok.
Speaker 3:That because I was like, yeah, I don't really, I don't want to support someone being murdered.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but I also like understand, like being the CEO of that big of a company, that is like hurts a lot of people.
Speaker 3:No, like I found out what he specifically did. This man.
Speaker 2:Oh, I don't know anything, so you can tell me that.
Speaker 3:I found a tick tock that explained what he did. I also read the got the shooters manifesto. Did you, did you read it?
Speaker 2:no, I just saw headlines of um his story is sad something about his grandparents or something right um, it was his mom okay, I just saw like a couple like headlines, so no, I don't know what the manifesto let me and he has a youtube channel that's coming out yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3:It supposedly has like a video about to go live on the 10th today.
Speaker 4:I don't know if that was real, though.
Speaker 3:That's why everyone's like waiting to see if it was actual. Um, I saw that I want to see if I can just play this tiktok, because this minister explained why it's like this man was a bad man. But no, we can't like, we cannot fall into murdering people.
Speaker 2:Right, like all that before this person was caught. Like a lot of the um comments I was seeing was like I don't know who you're talking, I don't, I, I see nothing on the screen, cause they were. It was like, oh, if you see this man like come forward or does, does anyone recognize this man? And everyone being like I don't, I see nothing on my screen, I don't know what you're talking about. And and just like making jokes of like glorifying this murderer which, like yeah, I was just like murder is never the right answer, but like I understand having hatred for you know, like a company and a person that has like affected you negatively, like I, I get it.
Speaker 3:I can't find it, but basically, when this man took over as CEO, they these numbers, guys are not exact. This is just. This is pretty close though the United health whatever the company he was a CEO for there uh, they denied 5% of claims and then when he stepped in, in the four years that he was CEO, that number jumped to 33%.
Speaker 3:Oh and just like no reason their profits went from 4 billion to 24 billion. So he, I mean the guy. The way this guy explained is like no, he's an actual evil man who did a lot of bad, of course.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Like no, you can't be fucking killing people, but no, something's gonna. This is stirring up something yeah, and he also a lot of like. Is this really the guy? People are very skeptical that this is not the person. There's a lot of like he really when he was being um, when they were at his parole hearing, parole bail here, yeah, he was like I have no idea how the money got in my backpack.
Speaker 3:I I don't know how that money got in there. I did not do that like and also the the way that they were. Like this backpack that he had is a backpack that's used to like block cell phone whatever, and he was like no, it's a waterproof backpack, like there's a lot of stuff, and so he's like feels like this is planted I thought they found.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they also found like bullets or something in 3d printed uh related to the gun yes but the manifesto is weird yeah, so something's not adding up. I just I mean, he doesn't he looks like the person I don't know the image that I have seen, and like this guy's face, like they don't look, not alike.
Speaker 3:The one of the guy smiling in the McDonald's. I think that is him, but the one of the security footage outside of the hotel, I don't think that looks like him. That's what people are saying.
Speaker 2:So is the thought that this man was drugged or something and he's being set up. That it's but wouldn't he just say that we don't know what he said. Oh, how have you heard of the? Like. I don't know how the money got in there, Like where did he say that?
Speaker 3:So that was reported by new by a news outlet. Okay. That was in the courtroom when he was being arraigned. Yeah, but this conspiracy tech talks are like. This is a distraction. Everyone like cause there's all that shit going on in New Jersey right now with the drones and they don't. Have you seen any of this, alison?
Speaker 2:this is actually crazy Everything. The sheriff, the governor or Twitter and I know nothing now.
Speaker 3:The, the governor and two sheriffs of two different counties in new jersey. Every night, these drones are appearing in the sky. They're going over police stations, water plants, power plants, um schools and something else, and they're like. We need help figuring out what these are. They don't know what they are, no one's taking ownership for them.
Speaker 3:The fbi are involved now and people regular people are filming them because they're so close. They're shaped like triangles and they've got crazy lights and they like come in really fast and they like hover for a second and they just go away and they'll like just show up in groups of three in the sky. It's actually. This is literally.
Speaker 2:So is the conspiracy that it's aliens or no one.
Speaker 3:I don't think I've heard anyone yet say that it's aliens, but no one one can identify them, and a sheriff at a press conference was like. They seem to be hostile in nature. Okay. So like what's going on?
Speaker 2:What is going on?
Speaker 3:Let me just.
Speaker 2:Get me out of here.
Speaker 3:Get me the hell out of here. The New Jersey drums.
Speaker 2:I don't want to be here.
Speaker 3:I'll send this to you?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm going to have to, like, look into this because it's crazy.
Speaker 3:Like no one hears that. Cbs philadelphia. The sheriff did a press conference and he's like we received multiple calls. Officers went out to invest police in south sergia reporting sightings of so-called mysterious drones in the sky depart uh departments in several communities, including cherry hill. He described the drones as very large, adding that his local agency is working with state police and federal authorities because we do not know what these are.
Speaker 2:Weird Well, shall we get into Diddy Corner? We haven't done this in a minute.
Speaker 3:Diddy into my corner, please.
Speaker 2:Well, it's not really Diddy, it's Jay-Z. I mean obviously connected. Yeah, oh, it's not really.
Speaker 3:Diddy, it's Jay-Z, I mean, obviously connected. Yeah, oh God, I really want some Chex Mix right now.
Speaker 2:Do you have some?
Speaker 3:No, it's just. My sister asked me what my favorite holiday treat is, because she's probably going to make it, and I said, well, it's homemade Chex Mix.
Speaker 2:Is it regular Chex Mix or is it with white chocolate coated? Okay, first of all, I don't like white chocolate, and you know that no, I forget every time it could be regular chocolate.
Speaker 3:If you want straight up homemade chex mix, no peanuts for sure.
Speaker 2:Well, our family does make chex mix, but then it's white chocolate coated and there are peanuts. So it was a thing my grandma did, and it's got um pretzel steaks, peanuts, cheerios oh um check, check, checks like the three different kinds.
Speaker 3:Yes, yeah, yeah, all three different projects and no, I think that's it to be honest.
Speaker 2:Then what?
Speaker 3:what? What of that is covered in white chocolate? All of it, oh okay. So it's kind of like like a trail mix, like the things you buy at target. You know I'm talking about yeah, it's like the pieces stuck together with like drizzled white chocolate. It's like that yes oh, so that might be good yeah, you could do it with milk chocolate I was picturing, like the check, like how you make puppy chow, like you are submerged the checks in white chocolate so they're totally coated they are okay, so we're.
Speaker 3:We are not aligned on what we're my bad, I thought I I pictured make a backs of batch of chex mix right for sure, and then you guys like do this with white chocolate and then let it dry and then it's just like drizzled kind of yeah, so where where I got, where I got lost on that one.
Speaker 2:So sorry is that we actually do drizzle it like that over the top, but then it gets all mixed together. So it doesn't stay as a drizzle but when we pour it, it is in a drizzling manner.
Speaker 3:You know what, though? I bet not like doing that with milk or dark chocolate. I probably would love it.
Speaker 2:Honestly, I feel like it would be good All three.
Speaker 3:Does it stay kind of clumped together, it sure?
Speaker 2:does Cause you lay it out, you put, put um like parchment paper down on the whole table, basically, and then you spread it all out and then do the um chocolate and then you let it dry and harden and then you kind of break it apart and we just put it in little like christmas tins and then we give it to people and okay, I'm with you.
Speaker 3:I could.
Speaker 2:I would probably try that, minus the peanuts and with a different chocolate yeah, I agree you could do like a dark chocolate with, like some, like a little salt on top. I guess there's salt on the peanut or the pretzels, so you don't really need that my mom's is.
Speaker 3:She always does a batch, so it's checks off all three, checks gardettos and then pretzel sticks, and then she'll do a batch with peanuts for the other people yeah, because there is a handful of us that don't want that yeah, and no cashews, nohews. No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 2:I like a cashew.
Speaker 3:But my mom and sister have it down like the season. It's better than checks Like they have the Worcestershire to seasonings and perfect.
Speaker 2:Okay, putting their own seasonings.
Speaker 3:Oh, they do their own seasonings, and then and also like put it in the oven. Oh, um, and also like put it in the oven, oh yeah, baked, and then, just like you, spread it out over parchment paper to dry, because that's key, otherwise it gets chewy for sure, and my grandpa, god rest his soul, used to, and it was so odd and ever no one ever questioned it, but it is odd okay, did the same thing.
Speaker 3:He would not lay it out, so it would always be a little bit chewy, and he always incorporated teddy grams salty sweet. I like it but everyone, no one questioned it. But then after we'd always be like that's weird, right like it's. But I guess if you put like cheerios, that's not weird, but teddy grams I mean, they are sweeter than cheerios, really aren't like sweet, how good are teddy grams yum I miss them I just realized one puppy chow sounds great.
Speaker 2:I haven't had that in so long and have you not had it since?
Speaker 3:I made it for you.
Speaker 2:I don't think so. I think that was the last time I had it, so if you wanted to make some more, Wow. And then the other thing I was going to say. Now I have almost forgotten, or I have forgotten. Where did it?
Speaker 3:Cardado's Chex Mix laid out holiday treats, own seasonings, all three Chex pretzel sticks all three checks.
Speaker 2:Pretzel sticks, dang it, I'm sorry, no it's okay, I don't know, but puppy chow does sound good, that's all I could probably make some puppy chow um that was quite a tangent back to diddy corner yeah.
Speaker 2:So this past week jay-z was hit with a civil lawsuit claiming that he raped a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 Awards after show party. So then he released a statement on his Roc Nation account saying the allegations were idiotic and heinous in nature, and his lawyer also argued Monday that his accuser, who was only identified as Jane Doe, should have to reveal her identity or have her lawsuit dismissed outright. The unnamed woman says she was hanging around Radio City Music Hall during the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards and managed to talk a limousine driver into bringing her to a celebrity-studded party at a private residence after the event, she said that while she was in a limousine driver into bringing her to a celebrity-studded party at a private residence after the event, she said that while she was in the limousine she was asked to sign a nondisclosure document. Once at the party, the lawsuit said she took a drink that made her feel woozy and lightheaded and went into a bedroom to lie down. And she says that Combs and Jay-Z barged into the room with another unnamed celebrity and her. She eventually escaped the room, fled the house and called for a ride from a nearby gas station.
Speaker 2:So that is like the short of the lawsuit. I didn't read the document so I'm not 100% sure if there's more His also. His statement was like kind of intense, like he called it a blackmail attempt and said that the lawyer, tony busby um, it was calculated in nature and these allegations and the public scrutiny would make would make him want to settle. But he it actually had the opposite effect. It wanted to. It wanted to make him expose uh busby for the fraud, and in a very public fashion, and it says so. No, I will not give you one red penny in all caps yeah, so it's like all right.
Speaker 2:And then he has a whole paragraph about like how it's heartbreaking that um for his family and that he and his wife beyonce have to sit down their kids and tell them he has two daughters yeah, and um blue is in, she's like 12, she's like in middle school.
Speaker 2:I'm sure that she knows what's going on, yeah, and that they are. Of course, they're going to be asked questions and they're going to have to explain. Like that these people, you know, are trying to take him down and like it's like losing their innocence and like I, I, I get that, but also it's just like everyone has also mentioned him in all of their allegations. So it's kind of hard not to. I understand that people do this to celebrities to try to get money out of them often, but it is hard to believe that he has nothing to do with anything because his name has been brought up in every single allegation.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's pretty pretty uh out there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, pretty uh out there. Yeah, so that's happened this week and I mean we obviously don't know what's gonna happen with it, but it's a new development it is the what has happened with diddy? Has he had I?
Speaker 3:don't know, hearing start or't know. Actually, I feel like it's kind of been quiet now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean I'm doing a quick Google on what's happening just to see if anything pops up quickly. It says he was offered and offered a new judge a $50 million bail package, using his mansion as collateral in exchange for releasing him to home detention with gps monitoring. However, the us district judge ruled that combs plan, which also included a strict limitations on visitors, was insufficient to ensure the safety of the community and the integrity of the case. So he was denied twice. Okay, um, on october 1st his legal team filed a notice of appeal to the second circuit court of appeals in new york asking that um bail ruling be overturned. Then that didn't go through. A civil suit was filed against him or an 11th civil lawsuit was filed against him.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:So he has that. So I don't know if there's a date yet for when the trial will start. Okay, I mean, obviously it's probably going to be next year. I don't think that they're going to do it right now, in December, but I don't know. We'll see.
Speaker 3:Okay, we're holding our breath.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean it's going to be wild. I selfishly wish that it would be televised. I know me too but it's criminal, not civil, and like the ones that have been televised, like IE, johnny Depp, that was a civil lawsuit, right, correct. So I don't know what happens. Like Supreme court grand jury, I don't either if that's allowed to be televised, but if it's not, I feel like we're never gonna really get all the information and then it's just gonna be like, yeah, what?
Speaker 2:exactly so I don't know more. It's just like more like terrible things, yep. Just like filled with gross people, yep. But in other exciting news, dolly Parton is searching for actors to portray her on Broadway. So now's your chance to audition.
Speaker 3:To portray Dolly. Yeah, I would love that. That would be such an honor.
Speaker 2:Um.
Speaker 3:I hope Miley auditions.
Speaker 2:I know I was going to say, like, why wouldn't Miley just do it? She there's multiple stages of her life, so I think it will be multiple people obviously. Um, so I'm interested in who it would be, but Miley is perfect.
Speaker 3:Like Megan Hilty, could be one too.
Speaker 2:Oh, cute yeah.
Speaker 3:She's just crushing it right now and death becomes her.
Speaker 2:Oh, nice is that I keep getting served an ad also for a new thing that Jeremy Jordan's in. Not a new show, I don't know if it's new or not, but I a show that Jeremy Jordan is in I keep getting yes. I keep getting ads for that.
Speaker 3:Apparently, it's very good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I just like don't think I care about that story, like the movie I didn't care about.
Speaker 3:I didn't either.
Speaker 2:Didn't care about. I didn't either, didn't care, never read the book, nope. So I just don't care. But if you guys, if anyone listening is, you sing like Dolly or you look like her and you want to audition there, I think they're actively looking for anyone, like they're not just going to um hire someone who's already famous, they're like actively having auditions for everyone yeah, so cute love that.
Speaker 3:Okay, so I have a not speak pipe, but a message from heather. She finally has sent one in, but she did it via marco polo, so I'm gonna play it here and then I can just transfer the audio over myself, so okay.
Speaker 4:Okay, well, don't show my face on the podcast, on the pod, but feel free to use my voice when I ask you the following question controversy this year about how underwhelming the Spotify wrapped um has been like as an experience. There's a lot of Spotify users, um, I am. I am not a Spotify user, unfortunately, but there have been a lot of Spotify users who have been really disappointed, um, in kind, of how the Spotify rap was presented um, what appeared in it. What didn't appear on it? Um, and there's been quite a few, quite a few people on my feed saying that they're going to jump ship, potentially over to Apple music because the year in review with Apple music supposedly was better. Um, so I would like your guys' opinion on this, um. The other thing is I I don't know what Spotify wrapped does and doesn't share Um, so share what you will, but, um, I'd be interested in hearing, like some of your top artists that appeared on your Spotify rep.
Speaker 4:Um, my top artists always end up being whoever is credited for the musical I'm listening to the most. So, like this past year, I was in the prom, um, and so one of my top artists was Beth LaFell. Um, or level, oh my gosh. Now I'm doubting how to say her last name. Oh God, I hope she doesn't listen to this podcast and judge me. Um, but yeah, so she's one of my top artists. My other top artist is Joy Woods. Um, because I was obsessed with the notebook musical. So, um, yeah, I we don't need the ranking, but I would be interested to know, like, who are some of your top artists this year compared to last year? Um, just tell me, tell me about that thank you you so much Heather for finally.
Speaker 2:Yeah, heather, sending it. It's been so long.
Speaker 3:And wow, so appreciate it. Allison and I have complicated feelings about Spotify, yeah.
Speaker 2:So for one I did notice that it was significantly less. It was.
Speaker 2:Cool this year. But the thing is is that I don't listen to music that much at all period. But then on I know that's weird coming from me, but I use YouTube more than I use Spotify, even for music. Sometimes, like, I just like look up the music video or I put a playlist on or whatever. So that's the first thing. The second thing is I listen to old stuff like so much. I'm not like a new music kind of person. If I there's a single song from uh or a handful of songs from a new album, I throw those in. But I just am not good at listening to music. I never have been and I'm still using like a playlist that I made in college before we like got ready to go out to the bars, like it's.
Speaker 3:Yeah, which, what a fun time.
Speaker 2:For sure. So I'm not a good person for this anyway, because mine is always so random and silly and I think my total listening time was like 6,000 minutes or whatever, and Reagan's was like 12 times. I was like I don't know, she sent me a thing. It was like insane and I was like, oh, I just don't use Spotify that much, so it's just like always. I listen to one thing five times and that's my top song so yeah, I also noticed it wasn't as fun.
Speaker 3:I will say that something cool that happened. What?
Speaker 2:oh sorry, I was like I'll pull mine up.
Speaker 3:Something cool that did happen is like one of my top artists. They they like pre-recorded stuff. So I got like a personalized message from her, but it wasn't obviously just for me, but it was like oh, that was kind of cute yeah I'm gonna be really honest. I didn't post this publicly because I do carry a lot of shame. Well, complicated feelings. I will say complicated yeah. Because my top artist, you guys, is. This has been the same for the last three years. Yeah. And it's Chris Brown. Okay.
Speaker 2:And it's hard, it's hard. He's on mine too.
Speaker 3:I'm his top 2% of his listeners. And so my top artists you guys are chris brown, the dj duo, naked ira star adam turley, and then fly in a boss, so all over the place yeah, so random mine too what are your top artists?
Speaker 2:I'm trying to get there, okay. So my top artist is taylor swift, which is so weird she's never been my top before ever you loved tortured poets yeah, I also loved, I was still listening. Oh, I listened to 1989, a lot this year like the re-release. Yes, yes, yes so that kind of is what did it for me um?
Speaker 3:no, it was the one song on tortured poets. Yeah, I can do with a broken heart is like is in my list of songs.
Speaker 2:Total minutes listened is 6,657. What's yours?
Speaker 3:Where do you see that?
Speaker 2:The very last slide. Okay whoa Unwrapped.
Speaker 3:What's yours?
Speaker 2:My top artist.
Speaker 3:No, listens minutes.
Speaker 2:Oh sorry, 6,657.
Speaker 3:Okay, 15,116.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so that's how little I'm actually listening compared to most people. So my artists are Taylor Swift, chris Brown, ariana Grande, cardi B and Sabrina Carpenter. Okay, and like, though, I'm listening to like two Chris Brown songs that happen to be on a list from um, those like college days of getting ready or whatever, totally Me too. Well, you, you also listen to the same song. Oh, you listen to his new album yeah, I really enjoy it.
Speaker 2:It's fine, it's fine but like I'm listening, like loyal is just like always on those, on those I listen to loyal at least a hundred times a year. Yeah yeah, so um, my top song is loving on me Harlow because I could not stop listening to that song. The second verse is my favorite thing ever.
Speaker 3:Lord Farquaad.
Speaker 2:Keep it short with the bitches Lord Farquaad and then Titi Me Pregunto. Yeah, sorry, people that speak Spanish, real sorry about that. That is Bad. Bunny Love that song and that's a fun song that I always put on when I'm working out too.
Speaker 2:it's a good one and then I can do it, the broken heart, um, fly on a boss you wish, and dog days are over, which I just choreographed something to that and I listened to it for like four days and it has made it to my top. So that's how little I'm listening to things, so I just don't share it because it's like it's not really just don't share it because it's like it's not really indicative of my favorite things, because it's like I'm listening to something five times and it's making it up.
Speaker 3:The way that I would get dragged if I posted my top songs because Chris Brown's not in my top songs. Right. My top song is not embarrassing. It's. I love it and I did post that because it's you're hired by ira star oh, yeah, yeah oh my god, listen, literally. I haven't tired of that song and I started listening to it in april and literally just every day yeah my number two most streamed song, coming in at 208 times okay karma's a bitch oh, but by brit smith, by brit yeah I was like whoa, this is too good, you really wanted to support her.
Speaker 2:You wanted, I did I loved her.
Speaker 3:Comeback number three. It's okay, I'm okay by tate mccray that just came out and it made it to number three for me. That's how much I'd be listening yeah every time, like guys, when I would I go on my I hike like two to three times a week and for like a solid month.
Speaker 3:I just had that on repeat yeah, it's great for four miles number four is candy man by fly on a boss yeah, great song and number five is got me started by troy savan that was you predicted that was going to be the song of the year this year I did, because listen something about that song makes me feel like that is like the way that song makes me feel is how I will know I'm in love. Yeah, I don't know how to explain it. I love that song and the emotion it evokes.
Speaker 2:I agree. The only reason it's I don't listen to it recreationally is because we have a dance to it and it's just hard for me to listen to things that we have dances to because, I've already heard them so many times in that capacity.
Speaker 3:And then how can you hear what's going on in the song? Because all you hear is Caleb's rhetoric, correct? And the counting in my head. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2:And what I listen to mostly is podcasts through YouTube, so I'm so glad you said that because I want to tell you something.
Speaker 3:I did a shoot last week at BuzzFeed and the producer his name is Joey and we were talking about ourify wrapped with the other producers and we were all sharing whatever and he was like oh, I don't listen to spotify. He's like I'm a podcast guy and they're like, okay, well, podcasts they do. Spotify has podcast wrapped yeah, he was like no, no, I I only watch podcasts on youtube. I'm a visual. And everyone was like what? Who does that?
Speaker 3:I was like guys, guys, this is not new. I actually know someone that is the exact same as this, yeah.
Speaker 2:So even if I'm not watching it, I still will listen to it. He plugs it in his car and just like listens to it through the video youtube yeah same wild.
Speaker 3:You're not alone. That's really nice.
Speaker 2:You're not alone so don't hate us for no no, no, no I think, chris brown songs on. We don't support him as a you know bad guy.
Speaker 3:I will say to loyal.
Speaker 2:It gets in your head.
Speaker 3:It really does, it's like people who have michael jackson in their top. It's like, yeah, um, heather mentioning that like musicals she listened to. So that happened with megan. She was telling me about her Spotify wrapped and it was like some, some one of the someone from a musical. But, um, I was nervous or not nervous. I wondered if that would happen because of how often I play the Disney theme park music that I thought I would get something like that in my rap, but I didn't.
Speaker 2:Someone I listened to was hypothesizing that they intentionally don't put like children's songs on there because she has kids, and she was like all we are doing is listening to Mickey, this and that, and there's um the album, what is it that Spider-Man cartoon that's out now?
Speaker 3:Spider-Verse.
Speaker 2:Yeah, fall Out Boy, I think, did a bunch of the songs for it and she's like we only listen to that. So much too, and none of those were on her top.
Speaker 3:Oh, interesting.
Speaker 2:So she was like I wonder if they do some sort of scan for children's music and they don't include it because, like normally, if you're someone who has kids or whatever, like that's not really indicative of the music you want to listen to. I don't know. There's like a, she's like it's weird that I didn't have any of those things, so maybe there's something like that.
Speaker 3:Also speaking of streaming, last week my your amino and Mr Grinch streamed 60 000 times last week last week that's insane it has almost 2 million streams total all right, this year no no total since coming out in 2019, but it didn't pop off until last winter because someone put it on a someone put it on a spotify, put it on a playlist, okay.
Speaker 3:and then people just started adding it and it had 60 000 streams last week and I was like, please stream this song guys. It literally gives I get like a thousand bucks every December from this song Work.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so everyone go stream your Mean One, mr Grinch by Valley.
Speaker 3:The sexy version.
Speaker 2:The A-L-L-I.
Speaker 3:Yeah, the A-L-L-I. Thank you for the question, heather.
Speaker 2:That was. That was great and sparked great conversation. Yeah, speaking of buzzfeed, yeah, I in trying to like think of some interesting things to talk about for this episode. I found two buzzfeed quizzes. Remember was that? Did we do that last year? Or we did yeah where we did some random buzz quizzes. I found two cute that I thought would be funny. If, um, I didn't mind, already I can redo it if we want, but I thought it'd be fun to do for you. Okay, one is um a love language, um quiz okay and it's you.
Speaker 2:Pick romantic movies and then it will reveal your love language oh the other one is kind of Christmas related, so I thought we could do those just for a little random fun time.
Speaker 3:Perfect, we're at, uh, just almost an hour. Okay, that's great.
Speaker 2:So this is your favorite romantic movies. Will reveal your love language.
Speaker 3:Bring it on.
Speaker 2:First, pick a movie from the 1950s. Have you seen any movies from the 1950s? Probably okay an affair to remember. Okay, gentlemen, prefer blondes. Love that one. How to marry a millionaire pillow talk pillow talk roman holiday pillow talk or sabrina oh, sabrina sabrina's good pillow talk isn't there a remake of sabrina?
Speaker 3:there is. Yeah, okay, I think I've seen that one. Okay, harrison ford yes, pillow talk with doris day is. I loved that movie I don't know why I've seen it as like a 10 year old shouldn't have been watching it.
Speaker 2:You've been old soul. Yeah, now choose a movie from the 1960s breakfast.
Speaker 3:I knew that was gonna be in there charade.
Speaker 2:Okay, my fair lady, romeo and juliet, apartment or West Side Story.
Speaker 3:Ooh, it's between, let's do West Side Story.
Speaker 2:What's the best romantic movie of the 70s? A Star is Born Grease. Harold and Maude Love Story, manhattan or the Way we Were. The Way we Were Born Grease.
Speaker 3:Harold and Maude, love Story, manhattan, or the Way we Were, the Way we.
Speaker 2:Were. I don't know what that is, but I thought you were going to pick that.
Speaker 3:Really.
Speaker 2:Yeah, in my mind that was what you were going to pick. Okay, now for the 80s Dirty Dancing, moonstruck, pretty in Pink, sixteen Candles, the Princess Bride, or when Harry Met Sally.
Speaker 3:The Princess Bride.
Speaker 2:So funny.
Speaker 3:As you wish.
Speaker 2:Okay, 90s, before Sunrise Four Weddings and a Funeral Ghost Nodding Hill, sleepless in Seattle or You've Got Mail. That's insane. You've Got Mail.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:That's the best movie of all time.
Speaker 3:I just rewatched it a couple weeks ago.
Speaker 2:So good, good, okay, now select a movie from the 2000s. A cinderella story broke back mountain, knocked up love, actually, pride and prejudice, or twilight these are awful options, because love actually is sad as hell yeah.
Speaker 3:Um broke back mountain also sad as hell yeah, but it is gay. Do I go the gay route?
Speaker 2:do you have to go gay just because you're gay?
Speaker 3:it's just so sad like that movie ends in my, my biggest fear okay, well, we're not gonna manifest no, we're not okay. Read them to me again a cinderella story. Brokeback mountain, knocked up love actually pride and prejudice and twilight a cinderella story I watched pride and prejudice for the first time last week and I was appalled with kira yeah, because I love her I know but that, mr darcy.
Speaker 2:What a tool yeah, I don't know why that's like he literally calls her ugly I mean no surprise, I haven't seen it, but all I know is like that book is. You know, every romantic girl that's like a literary girly that that's like you know they what they think of as like what they want their romance to be? Yeah, and I don't know, I never got it I'm not here for it, okay, onward 2010s. Okay, always be my maybe crazy rich asians, friends with benefits. Just go with it. Letters to juliet and set it up.
Speaker 3:These are also bad but I'm gonna go with crazy rich asians great that wedding scene love okay 2020s.
Speaker 2:I know what you're gonna pick anyone but you.
Speaker 3:Happiest season no, it's anyone but you because of the choice of on song. Oh, that's this okay, go ahead. Finish, though. Happiest season. No, it's anyone but you, because of the choice of on song oh, that's the go ahead. Finish though happiest season.
Speaker 2:Oh fuck, I want you back. Love hard palm springs, or the half of it. I haven't seen the last four at all palm springs is in there.
Speaker 3:That's interesting. I'm gonna go with the first one anyone but anyone but you, because that is the that scene. They perfectly timed that choice of on song to that scene on the boat yeah when he, when she spins into him. Do you just got me started? Okay wow yeah, it's just like I don't love sydney sweeney I know and I don't want to get into it.
Speaker 2:I think she's great I don't think she's good, okay, so don't tell me what your actual. If you know your actual love language, don't tell me what your actual. If you know your actual love language, don't tell me until this is over. So your love language, based on these movies, is physical touch. You love being physically close to your partner. A kiss, a hug or even a simple pat on the back lets you know how much they care about you.
Speaker 3:I had to take this, the love language test, last week as part of this program, and my number one love language last week as part of this program. Oh, and my number one love language, which I was surprised to find out, is physical touch.
Speaker 2:I don't think that's surprising at all.
Speaker 3:I thought it was going to be words of affirmation, but that is number two.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I haven't taken it in a minute, but I do believe minor words of affirmation and um Nope, that's it.
Speaker 3:It's words of affirmation. No, I do get another one close and acts of service it's physical touch.
Speaker 2:Acts of service, words of affirmation, gifts, quality time I think the quality time is my second yeah, I could see that words of affirmation and quality time I think that my love language that I like to do.
Speaker 3:I love to gift.
Speaker 2:That's mine as well, yeah.
Speaker 3:Gifts and probably quality time.
Speaker 2:Yeah, physical touch, like I don't care, like I don't need to be touching at all times, I do like.
Speaker 3:I'm a hugger, you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Like I do. I like to hold hands like if we're walking or something or like if we're sitting next to each other like a hand on the leg. I do like that, but I don't like the other things matter more.
Speaker 3:You're talking about romantic relationships.
Speaker 2:I am.
Speaker 3:I'm physical touch, like just with everyone.
Speaker 2:True, yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 3:But also romantic. Yes, okay, wow, wow, the test accurate.
Speaker 2:Yeah. Okay, our next one is just kind of silly Great, and this is titled live in a Christmas town for a day and discover your holiday destiny.
Speaker 3:I'm intrigued.
Speaker 2:Okay, what is the first thing you do when you wake up? Ice skate to the local candy store, head to the bakery for cinnamon rolls and cocoa, bundle up and go sledding, or grab your pet reindeer and go for a quick slate ride.
Speaker 3:I'm gonna go to the bakery. I'm gonna get my morning coffee and cinnamon roll.
Speaker 2:Yeah what's your uh role in the festivities? Singing carols in the town square, making ornaments for the town tree, serving up delicious hot chocolate, or training santa's reindeer for the job? I'm singing. I want to live okay, where do you spend the afternoon? Santa's workshop, trying to find a way to help making christmas cards at home, the ice skating rink, duh, or walking the snowy trails with my friends my friends in the woods. Okay, pick a holiday treat gingerbread cookies, peppermint, hot chocolate, warm apple pie or roasted chestnuts.
Speaker 3:You know, funny enough. I don't really care for number one. Yeah, it's, I could not bake on gingerbread cookies.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't care about them either.
Speaker 3:I'm going to go for the hot apple pie, which you famously don't think is a Christmas dessert, apple pie is like summertime to me.
Speaker 2:I don't understand.
