This comes out when this comes out on December 30th.
Speaker 3:Ah, but in case I stand one little chance, here comes the jackpot question in advance. What are you doing New Year's? New Year's Eve.
Speaker 2:Pretty. Thank you, I didn't cut you off the a-list. Welcome back to the a-list podcast with allison and Alex.
Speaker 1:That girl over there, that's Allison.
Speaker 2:And that's Alex.
Speaker 1:You can't see me, but guess what? Next week you will.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, what are you going to wear for your first ep? I feel like you should wear a tuxedo, yeah.
Speaker 1:I'm going to have to wear a tux, or at least a five-piece suit. Five-piece At least Three-piece, at least three piece.
Speaker 2:Well, is there five piece? There's four piece, right.
Speaker 1:Is there Cumberbund?
Speaker 2:What's a three piece? That's a vest yeah, so a.
Speaker 1:Cumberbund would be four. My dog is the worst. Love you.
Speaker 2:He, his hair is growing in everyone.
Speaker 1:He's looking cuter every day every single day. Well, we thought we would start this off with a toast to you listeners. I wrote us. I wrote a toast to you from me and allison love she's gonna smile pretty on camera while I read this toast okay, everyone grab it.
Speaker 2:You know what? Pause this, yes pause this.
Speaker 1:Go grab something to toast with us yes what are we drinking, allison this is sparkling cider.
Speaker 2:I don't know I want. It's not a grape juice no, it's like apple slash something it smells good cherry, oh it's weird it's. I got this at one of the like more rich grocery stores because it just happens to be close to me. Yeah, I wanted the welch's sparkling white grape juice that is so good. In my family we call it kid wine.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, it is kid wine.
Speaker 2:And at times like this, when the adults have actual wine or champagne, we also make sure there's kid wine so the kids can toast and they can drink too. So it's not what I wanted, but it's what we have, and isn't that a motto that we should all live by?
Speaker 1:A hundred percent, and I'm grateful that we have something at all.
Speaker 1:So cue the inspiring music now. Here's to a new year, a fresh start and endless possibilities. May this year be the one where dreams turn into plans and plans turn into realities. May we laugh louder, love deeper and embrace every moment with open hearts. Here's to learning from the past, living fully in the present and charging boldly into the future. May our challenges shape us, our victories inspire us and our friendships keep us grounded. Here's to health, happiness and an abundance of joy for all of us in the year ahead. Cheers to making this year the best one yet, together.
Speaker 2:Cheers, cheers.
Speaker 1:Cheers Clink.
Speaker 2:That was so cute. Did you actually write that, or?
Speaker 1:did you chat? Gpd? Alex wrote that.
Speaker 2:That's so good.
Speaker 1:Congrats is what you were about to say. Oh, this is pretty tasty.
Speaker 2:It's got a bite Congrats on writing something. This is actually pretty good. It is good.
Speaker 1:Anyway, cheers to you listeners.
Speaker 2:Thanks for being with us for basically the whole year.
Speaker 1:Because didn't we start in January?
Speaker 2:I don't know, okay, but wait, yeah, I don't know. And these very ornate glasses, if you're listening, it's giving Game of Thrones, it's giving House of the Dragon. It's a chalice.
Speaker 1:I didn't have champagne flutes?
Speaker 2:I don't either okay I need some you do because I do like champagne, I like prosecco. Well, happy, almost new year's 2025, kind of crazy to think about to me. I'm one of those people who I guess now it's a little bit different, but for the longest time I still thought of the eighties as 20 years ago and it's just not no, you're so right. It just feels like. I feel like I'm still like 18 somehow.
Speaker 1:I was watching a guy. You know how people right now are doing their like presentations on Tik TOK of their like dating over the year no, I haven't seen any of these oh, this was a big trend last year, but it's, I see it's come back yeah, like a, a rolodex of who you, what you're dating, statistics of those 15, yeah.
Speaker 1:So this one guy's comes up. I was, oh, he's cute, he talks about. He went on 15 dates. The youngest was 24. The oldest was 34. And he was like and that was too old. The sweet spot for me is 24 to 27, because I am 24. And I was like oh my and also this plays into my like age blindness, because when this guy popped up I was like, oh, he's like my age yeah.
Speaker 2:No, he's 10 years younger than me this guy popped up, I was like oh, he's like my age.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, he's 10 years younger than me. Yeah, well, and that is right, in line with what you're saying, like the 80s was 20 years ago.
Speaker 2:No, yeah, I think that our generation, um, we do tend to look younger because we have taken skin care seriously v serious and so I don't think it's that crazy to think that someone 10 years younger than us doesn't look that far off, true, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Speaker 1:Thank you.
Speaker 2:My Botox is completely gone, so my forehead gives me away and I've got to find a way to re-up soon.
Speaker 1:I understand. Okay, so what is? What are some Allie of your, I guess, new year's stories or like traditions?
Speaker 2:I do have a tradition. I will say that I don't really have crazy new year's stories because historically I haven't done a lot of crazy things on years. I know that people it's like a thing, you know you go out. But when I lived at home I kind of just hung out with Reagan or like my family and we would just, you know, watch the fireworks, watch the ball drop and we weren't like going out really. So I don't have like any crazy stories, but I do have a tradition that I think is unique.
Speaker 2:I don't know where my family got it from. It's probably an older thing, but my grandmother always used to make cabbage for New Year's.
Speaker 1:Can you say make cabbage.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like boil it. Yeah, I think there might have been ham pieces in it.
Speaker 1:Was it like a soup?
Speaker 2:It was not a soup. It was boiled in very few seasonings, um, and then, like we would just like take the cabbage and put it on our plate, it was and it wasn't falling apart so much like you could still eat it with a fork, but it wasn't a soup.
Speaker 2:Okay, but the whole thing was that she hid dimes oh in the cabbage okay and it was supposed to be like if you get a dime that means you'll have good luck for the next year. But she would make sure we all got a dime, you know norma was on it this was my grandma, judy judy was on um, so I I don't know where that tradition came from or where where it like evolves from. Okay, but that was a new year's tradition and they were wrapped in foil.
Speaker 2:I think she probably washed them, but then she wrapped them in foil, so it was like you definitely wouldn't choke on it. You would see it coming a mile away. Yeah, but that was a thing that my family did.
Speaker 1:Growing up, new years were pretty much the same every year until I got into my like later teens and I actually was like in my gratitude journal that I have to write in every day, get to write in every day.
Speaker 1:I was reflecting on this one earlier this last week that like well, first of all, I just want to say this program, for something this program has really done for me, has helped me re, like change the way I think back on things Like I used to think back on things like wow, I'm never going to have that again or I'm never going to experience that again, and has changed it to be like, wow, how lucky that I got to even experience that, which has been like really great for my mental and the way that I think about anything now. And one of those things is my anytime like I need to go to a happy place in my brain or I just need to like center myself. For my whole adult life it's always going to this, which is the week between Christmas and new year. The day after Christmas we would leave my grandparents' house and we would drive to they. They had a another home in a really small town in michigan called peacock michigan, which is like upper, like up up the glove um near like cadillac michigan.
Speaker 2:I don't know if you know where that is I really haven't been to anywhere but Detroit, I think.
Speaker 1:Okay, so it's a really small, really small town that's like mainly for like cabins, okay, anyway, so we would go up there and we would snowmobile and we'd sled and we would literally it was just like vacation and chill out, and then we would always, always have a big fondue spread New Year's Eve and celebrate New Year's, and then we would stay and usually like pack up and head back on the second or third that tradition like we stopped going to peacock. They sold that house when I was like 16 I think 16 or 17 and but they kept the fondue part of it. So we would still do new year's at my grandparents other place in michigan, cold water, which is like right by angola, okay, indiana, um, and yeah, like every time I would go home. So I would go home for christmas and new year's pretty much every year since I lived in la, except for one time in 2012, and then 21 to 23.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Um, and it would always. We, we still do fondue.
Speaker 2:That sounds delish.
Speaker 1:It is so messy, but it is so delicious.
Speaker 2:Side note from that. Do you remember the restaurant, the melting pot?
Speaker 1:Yeah, of course, I never got to go there and I always wanted to.
Speaker 2:That, the restaurant, the melting pot yeah, of course I never got to go there and I always wanted to. That was like the epitome of like a rich place to go for your birthday or something, and I never went. But I don't think they exist anymore, do they?
Speaker 1:I don't know if they exist anymore, and there wasn't one in fort wayne.
Speaker 2:I think there was one in indy yeah, if there's one here can we go yeah, I would love to go the Melting. Pot, los Angeles. I know this is a side. There's one in Thousand Oaks, oh my God.
Speaker 1:Wild, that would be. Yeah, we need to go.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, that will be like a dream come true, yeah, and it probably won't live up to like my expectations, but I don't know why I just always associated that with like the cool kids.
Speaker 1:We got to do that.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:So yeah, my, my traditions went on for a while and like specifically being in that part of Michigan is always like a really happy memory of mine.
Speaker 2:So that really aids in your love of big bear and a hundred percent and cabins and stuff.
Speaker 1:Of course.
Speaker 2:I have never heard that.
Speaker 1:That's a fun thing, I think another memory that sticks out is well the New new years that we spent together on a roof where you cried so much oh my gosh.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that was in 2021 or going into 22 yeah, why was I crying?
Speaker 1:just because I couldn't believe how magical the evening was and everyone was so happy and we were all sharing our new year's resolutions and how grateful we were for such a fun year. That was the year I came out, so I was really like talking a lot about how happy I was and I was newly in love and wow, we just become friends. I'm a crier too, yeah, but we have photographic evidence of you crying that night.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like my face is so red. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I guess I've blocked that out. It's a good memory, though. That was a fun New Year's, I feel like also, that was a thing that I never did, like I, sitting on a rooftop in a big city, I just feel like, was something I hadn't done before, so it felt like so cool.
Speaker 1:It was so cool, it was a fun memory. Again now thinking back on that, I'm like how nice that I got to experience that and that was. That was a fun memory.
Speaker 2:Again now, thinking back on that, I'm like how nice that I got to experience that. That was a fun New Year's.
Speaker 1:That was cute Countdown to cozy. One of our best photos together is from that party.
Speaker 2:True, it's still on your thing over there.
Speaker 1:It is your cleavage was out in the crowd. It was great.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I don't have a lot. I wish that I like at some point I would like the whole like get dressed up, but I'm also so tired so I did that once out here.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, one new year's me. My ex and jane were like we have to try a new year's out. We have to try it. We bought the all-inclusive ticket to this amazing bar and you had the worst time it was awful yeah it was literally like okay, well, now at least we can say we did it. But wow, like the I want to say, the ticket was 175 bucks.
Speaker 1:I do remember that, but it was open bar okay for the tier that we had and and we got to stay in a specific section. We got there right when doors open because we were like we're gonna take advantage of this. No one showed up for hours like I feel like doors open, it felt like hours okay finally, the place fills and it fills yeah, can't move anywhere literally when the ball dropped, we were waiting in line for the bathroom anyway.
Speaker 1:But yeah, other than that, um, I had another magical new year's when I thought I was in love and he we were. Okay. I went with my ex to a wedding okay for a new year's wedding, which I think new year's weddings are so weird yeah, but their wedding was at like 6 30 pm.
Speaker 1:We went to just the reception, which went till midnight. So like they're doing the countdown in the in the reception hall. It was a beautiful wedding, we had a lot of fun, but like we're all standing in there, like I'm with him and his family, and in like 10 9 and all of a sudden he like grabs me and we're, and he's like pulling me out of the ballroom and into the bathroom when the countdown ends and kisses me and I was like this is love.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, this is love yeah.
Speaker 1:Anyway, and it all went downhill from there, but it was a good memory. It was like, yeah, that was really special and now, I'm just chasing that high.
Speaker 2:Literally. Well, weirdly, I was texting Josh on New Year's last year, so that was pretty cute.
Speaker 1:That is cute, yeah, and this year you'll get to spend it together probably.
Speaker 2:Yeah, right, yeah, unless you're like out of town but you're not going to be no no not on that day.
Speaker 1:No, no, apart from each other, I mean.
Speaker 2:Oh, for sure, For sure, yeah, which like yeah, I've never been dating someone on New Year's either.
Speaker 3:So there you go.
Speaker 2:It's, it'll be a first which will be actually nice. But I what I was saying earlier is that I would at some point like like to do the like, get dressed up and go somewhere, but then I think that I'm so tired Will I have fun.
Speaker 1:But if I'm prepared for, if I'm mentally prepared to stay up later, then I think it was saying that it would be fun to one year Cause you can buy tickets to the Versailles new year's party and you have to dress. It's like a masquerade ball.
Speaker 2:Oh, in France, in France yeah.
Speaker 1:How amazing would that be it would be. I'd stay awake for that oh, for sure, oh my god, can you imagine? Yeah, that would be cool so yeah, this is some good mems yeah, um, I do have a little bit of new year's history. If you're interested, maybe just like things educate me just like random bits if you will, is any of them? Are any of them like when did the ball drop start? Because that's something I was thinking about. Okay, okay, go ahead.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, two things. It's it's new year's day or new year's Eve, but it's also, make up your mind, day and champagne day.
Speaker 1:Do you have any context to what make up your mind? Day means.
Speaker 2:Um, I don't, but I'll look it up. Make up your mind day. Make up your mind day celebrated on December 31st and encourages people to make decisions and stop putting things off. Some ways to celebrate include making a decision on hesitation, listing pros and cons, ranking choices and making hashtag make up your mind day on social media. This that was written in 2011 because no one's doing that anymore, but I think it's a going into new year's day, like new year's resolutions. Like you make up your mind, I'm going to do this on the 31st, so then on the first, you start doing it. But champagne day is also a thing, because it's probably the day that the most champagne is consumed in like one day. So that's the thing. It's also there's a universal hour of peace, starting from 1130 until 1230 on the first.
Speaker 1:I would love to uphold that.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Please world.
Speaker 2:Just an hour of peace. I don't know what, like what, if you're supposed to do anything.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Let me also look that up. Universal hour of peace is observed on the 31st, spanning from 1130 to 1230. Make marking a moment to promote peace and goodwill across the globe through peaceful activities and reflection. Essentially a dedicated hour to focus on unity and a war free world. That would be nice Goal to foster a global sense of peace and unity. I just said that. Um, how to celebrate? Meditation, peace vigils, sharing quotes about peace or simply taking a moment of quiet reflection.
Speaker 3:Cute.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we should all do that 100%. Imagine if everyone in the world stopped.
Speaker 1:And then everyone realized how nice and peaceful it was and we just kept it going. Correct Challenge accepted.
Speaker 2:Would love that. Okay, a fun fact is that the ball in time square was introduced in 1907 wow, didn't realize it was that old yeah, I wonder what it looked like back then, because it's obviously different. I'm sure they've upgraded. Yeah, do you know what the mascot of new year's is?
Speaker 1:The mascot of New Year's, like worldwide.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so we have Santa, we have the Easter bunny. What is the mascot of New Year's?
Speaker 1:If I was to guess, father Time no, something less.
Speaker 2:It's.
Speaker 1:A sparkler, is it something like that?
Speaker 2:It's a living thing. Oh, something like that it's a living thing.
Speaker 1:Oh, is it like some sort of a flower New year, new um new year, like a camel.
Speaker 2:It's a baby.
Speaker 1:Gross.
Speaker 2:Just a baby.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Whatever. Um yeah, I've never seen that.
Speaker 2:Like, like, I don't think I've ever seen new year's baby I know people dress up as it oh, they wear diapers but, that's because they can't pee true they can't get out of line.
Speaker 2:New year's baby mascot. What the mascot for new year's is baby new year a cherub like figure who symbolizes the start of the new year and the passing of the old year. The tradition of using a baby to represent the new year dates back to ancient greece. The greeks would place an infant in a basket and hoist it into the sky to represent the rebirth of dionysus seen again the rebirth of dionysus, the god of wine.
Speaker 2:Bts has a song named dionysus, if you have care. Oh so, yeah, baby, okay, cool. And then obviously the song odd long sing. How do you say it?
Speaker 1:odd lang sign.
Speaker 2:Yeah, odd lang sign that I just have a little bit of information about that.
Speaker 1:If you will Do share.
Speaker 2:It's a Scottish folk song.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Written by Robert Burns in 1788, but it's based on an older Scottish song period.
Speaker 1:Mic drop.
Speaker 2:In 1799, it was set to a traditional pentatonic tune. Pentatonic is a word yeah, didn't know that which has since become standard. What does pentatonic mean? Five notes. A pentatonic scale is a musical scale with five notes per octave. Okay, that makes sense it does so what I didn't know is that the lyrics are. Question is a question, so I look at all acquaintance be forgot yeah, it's not sung like a question though it's not it's.
Speaker 2:Should all acquaintance be forgot and never and never brought to mind? Should all acquaintance be forgot for odd, long sin odd length sign odd length. Whatever, wait, say it again odd length sign odd length sign. Yeah, but like those are questions, so will you sing it like a question?
Speaker 3:should all acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Speaker 1:how do you sing something like a question I?
Speaker 2:don't know. I just like how was I supposed to know it was a question? No, for sure, because it's old english speak yeah, should all queens be forgot and never brought to mind? I?
Speaker 1:don't know, you should all queens be forgot and days of auld lang syne yeah, weird what does auld lang syne mean?
Speaker 2:it's a great question, times long past and days of times long past right. Right, Well, it's very Shakespearean and you know I can't understand that.
Speaker 1:Days of time gone by.
Speaker 2:Should all acquaintance be forgot? From times long past from a long time ago.
Speaker 1:Should we forget about the days of yore?
Speaker 2:No, definitely not, or maybe?
Speaker 3:For old Langs, I and my Jews for old Langs. We'll take a cup of kindness Yet for, or maybe For auld lang syne, my deuce, for auld lang syne. We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
Speaker 2:Will you sing it in a Scottish accent?
Speaker 3:For auld lang syne, my deuce for auld lang syne. We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think that everyone should have to sing it like that, I agree, I agree. Which took me down a rabbit hole of watching our girl, mariah Carey, in 2017. I had to watch it again and it's just as uncomfortable as it ever was.
Speaker 1:I can imagine.
Speaker 2:Oh, were you watching that live?
Speaker 1:Yes, I was.
Speaker 2:What? What was your thought?
Speaker 1:I had to look away, you know when it's that bad train wreck.
Speaker 2:I still don't understand. I think her in ear wasn't working. Is that what it was? But could she not hear? No?
Speaker 1:I think, just echoing so much Cause it no, I think the track that was playing in her ear was different than the track that was playing, and that was what was throwing her off.
Speaker 2:Oh, that Cause I was like I know that obviously the in-ear has a metronome, it has like all those things, but you still usually can hear what's happening through the monitors that the audience can hear. So I was confused how she couldn't pick it back up.
Speaker 1:That's why I think it was happening.
Speaker 2:But did she not take her in-ear out?
Speaker 1:Yeah, but then, like, without having front facing monitors, there's no way.
Speaker 2:That's fair. Yeah, it's just like she feels so awkward. So she's just like walking around and saying weird things and just feeling, well, hope everyone's having a good time, like I don't know, and I don't know what she was supposed to do, because, obviously, like it's so awkward and her dancers are trying so hard just to stay in you know what they're supposed to do and she's just like well, we should we? I think the problem is that she's saying I think the thing she's saying makes it worse, because she was like well, we didn't have a sound check and she's kind of like just has this, like sassiness, and I feel like, if she just like was this the same performance she's like, but didn't have my tea today because you know it was two years in a row that she did this I don't think it was that one so two years in a row she had bad performances.
Speaker 2:But that's 2017 was the it was the the whole um what's. Which song was it?
Speaker 1:all I want for christmas is you was it I? Don't know. Also, alison looks up. I just want to remind everyone that the reason we're not talking about Christmas really is because this is prerecorded.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:So we're not. We'll discuss our Christmas vacations later.
Speaker 2:For sure my bad.
Speaker 1:No, no, you're fine, but I'm in Indiana right now.
Speaker 2:You are Emotions, it was emotions.
Speaker 1:Oh, right right right right, yes, yes.
Speaker 2:And the like whistle tone goes up and I just I think that if she had been walked around and just been like, yeah, everybody, what's going on, let me hear, let me hear over here, let me hear over there, like things like that, maybe would have kept the energy up. But she's just walking around being like, well, we didn't have a sound check right well, what am I supposed to do? And just like kind of rolling your eyes and having, like that, no shade to mariah no no, but I think that's what makes it even more painful agreed so I watched that again.
Speaker 2:oh, and I noted at the end they bring back the feathers around her and she's just like it just don't get any better. And then she turns and walks away before the camera even cuts. It's so funny and I don't know how anyone hasn't made that a meme or like cut that on TikTok I should Wow so funny, hilarious. Know how anyone hasn't made that a meme. Or like cut that on tiktok. I should wow so funny, hilarious. Do you have any other notable performances that you remember? Have you ever performed on for new years?
Speaker 1:I did perform for new year's once um new year's eve in the boy band and it was uneventful, it was like a private party. Get your ass up. A single that we were supposed to be releasing early that next year.
Speaker 2:Right, just that. Yeah, we just did one. Get your ass up.
Speaker 1:The song goes you're doing something. I think I know just what you're trying to do to me. Yeah, I can feel it coming, my body's trembling, the music's taking over me and I know that you feel it and I know that you're in it, yeah. And then the chorus goes. When you hear the music, better get your ass up when you hear me. If you came to a party, put your drinks up.
Speaker 2:I mean, it's a good party song, it sounds.
Speaker 1:Whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah, it never came out.
Speaker 2:I'm so sorry, it's okay, you should re-release it.
Speaker 1:You're doing something. It was very sexual.
Speaker 2:Yeah, all of your songs sounded to be yeah.
Speaker 3:Everything I've heard sounds pretty sexual. I think you know just what you're trying to do to may, yeah, not may.
Speaker 2:Oh, for sure, I said may love that anyway, well, you know, every year there's a color of the year from pantone sure didn't know that you didn't yeah, um, pantone puts out a color of the year every year. That um represents the design trend of the next year. I'll give you the past couple years and then I want you to guess what you think this year is okay, yeah, well 2025 will be.
Speaker 2:So. 2020 was classic blue, okay. 2021 was two and it was illuminating, which is a yellow and then ultimate gray, okay. In one thing, I don't know why 2022 was very peri periwinkle ew 2023 was viva Magenta and this year was Peach Fuzz.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:So what do you think 2025 will be?
Speaker 3:Seafoam.
Speaker 2:No. Not even close.
Speaker 1:What family is it in?
Speaker 2:How do I you mean like cool or warm?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I would say, this leans cool.
Speaker 1:Slate.
Speaker 2:No, but you're getting closer in terms of uh it's not silver, is it no, all right.
Speaker 3:What is it?
Speaker 2:It's a mocha moose I'll send you.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 2:I kind of like it. It's not bad. It's kind of giving like kim kardashian, though you know what I mean like it's it's just giving like skims, boring beige, but for a beige I do like mocha mousse. The color cute, I would wear things in this color.
Speaker 3:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I thought that was interesting. Every year they do that Cute. Let's see if it has the year we were born. I'm going to be in silence, okay, no, but the first one is the year 2000. And that was Cerulean.
Speaker 1:I was going to guess Cerulean. No, you werean. I was going to guess Cerulean. No, you were not. I was going to guess Cerulean. I was going to guess Cerulean because I was thinking of. The Devil Wears Prada.
Speaker 2:Okay, give me, what do you think 2001 was?
Speaker 1:Something red.
Speaker 3:Ish.
Speaker 1:Like a maroony red. No lighter Like ketchup, no like pinkier. Oh so in the magenta world yeah, fuchsia rose fuchsia rose give me another year do you want to keep going? Yeah, let me try it 2002 like I feel like it's another blue no, but they is it like seafoam? No, it is true, red oh, that one, they went true, red, okay, okay but the next one is 2003 it's got to be like teal or something yes, aqu Aqua sky, I'm on a roll now.
Speaker 2:Okay, what do you think? 2004.
Speaker 1:Now they're going to orange. No.
Speaker 2:Yes, tiger Lily, but it's orange.
Speaker 1:Oh, my God.
Speaker 2:Okay, next 2005.
Speaker 1:I feel like we're going back to the blue family. No way, not quite teal, it's more green blue. No, it's like a green blue, it's turquoise blue, turquoise.
Speaker 2:Oh my god, my eyes are watering.
Speaker 1:Okay, let's see 2006 I feel like they were like we got to go boring, no.
Speaker 2:I'm dying.
Speaker 1:It's, I don't know, something normal like beige or light pink or it's sand dollar, it's beige.
Speaker 2:No way, okay, 2007.
Speaker 1:And then they went the opposite.
Speaker 2:Okay, what does that mean?
Speaker 1:Like something dark. Yeah, maybe black. No, no, no, no, like blood, is it blood?
Speaker 2:No, turn it around. It's called chili pepper, but it's dark red, oh my God. Oh my gosh, this is crazy. All right, you got to keep going 2008.
Speaker 1:My instinct said brown, but no, that's not what I'm finalizing. I'm not final on that, yet that's fine, we haven't done like a purple, like a plum or like a.
Speaker 2:You're engaging my reaction?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm trying to gauge your reaction. It's not like the color of your microphone, is it?
Speaker 2:no, but like close it cobalt no, the other way it's called blue iris.
Speaker 1:It's like a purpley blue oh, that's pretty I actually do like that one wow, well, I haven't done yellow yet.
Speaker 2:No, 2009 is. It's called mimosa, but it's yellow.
Speaker 1:That's yellow. Oh, I like mimosa. It is like orange juice and yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, it's a good.
Speaker 1:When are they going to fucking do like sea foam green? It's got to be somewhere.
Speaker 2:Well, this is very close. This is turquoise Turquoise, straight turquoise. Okay turquoise.
Speaker 1:Okay, yeah, what year was that? 2010? Okay, 2011, something pink, that's such a pink year. It's um, like fuchsia, it's like, um, like preppy pink it's called honeysuckle, but yeah, cute, it's like mean girls pink. Yeah, why are? You so good at this I don't know what okay 2012 I feel like I lost it. Orange tangerine no, it isn't. That is tangerine, that's exactly tangerine all right, keep 2013.
Speaker 2:Is this interesting to anyone?
Speaker 1:Yeah, emerald no.
Speaker 2:Alex, no, fucking, it's actually. It's even called Emerald. It's called Emerald. My eyes are actually watering. Something's going on.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, I guess you have to do 14. 2014.
Speaker 1:Oh no, I don't know. I feel like it's. How can I come back? I got the name.
Speaker 2:You got the name, the name yeah.
Speaker 1:Is there a purple yet?
Speaker 2:This is. It's called Radiant Orchid. It's purple. This is not Okay. Do you just like play the lottery, or something?
Speaker 1:God, yeah, right From emerald to purple color. Can you show me what the purple looked like, just so I can see, because I feel like they try to back oh, radiant orchid pretty like a canary yellow, yeah, no oh, I lost it. What year did I lose it?
Speaker 2:2015. Okay, it's marsala. It's like a brown with like a. It's a like a warm tone brown. Okay, wow, that was so exciting wow, that was crazy.
Speaker 1:I was on a roll there.
Speaker 2:You really were hilarious I really want to keep that in, so I hope that everyone um was entertained by that, because that was crazy. Whoa, oh, do you have any fun things? Um, I have a couple more, but let's kick it over to you If you have anything.
Speaker 1:I was going to see if I don't really love New Year's resolution, mainly because, like I tend, I think people tend to put things like a lot of body image things on New Year's resolutions. But what I did make you do this year and what I have done instead of New Year's resolutions, is I set an intention and oh yeah, that's been on my personal.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and this year's intention for me was to have strong boundaries, stronger than my empathy, and I'm ending this year by really sticking to that and having been in this program and really, like, made some. It was a hard year, alison, you know challenging year. And, um, I think it's fun to set intentions and I'm do you have, in thinking of next year, what are some hopes you have? Maybe not a resolution?
Speaker 2:Hmm, Some hopes I have. I'm going to say the word growth Like you want to like personal growth personal um, romantic um and like in work, like I want to grow my personal brand, if you will like more. Obviously, the fitness Marshall is, like always, like my, you know, number one priority. But I also want to get a little bit more serious or or just like put a little bit more effort into personal things.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And, um, I don't know, like work more with my manager and like maybe find an agent or something to help with that kind of thing. I love that, so that, and, like this channel, like I really want the podcast to grow, like I want us to do, you know, to continue leveling up, which we already have planned, which you guys will see. But yeah, I don't know, growth seems like a really good word.
Speaker 1:I love that I, I haven't decided on what my intention is going to be, because I do like doing that for myself, and then I hammer it into a keychain, as you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, um I would like to do it too, so include me.
Speaker 1:I have so many like I literally only use it for this time of year and I have so many blanks. So, yes, um, I think like I put so much work, I did so much work on myself that I want to see the fruits of that labor in this next year I want to see.
Speaker 1:I want to like continue to show up for myself and, I guess, continue to prove to myself that, like the past, my past does not define where I'm going. And I think, like, if I'm being really honest, I I feel like I'm now really ready to put intention into finding, like an actual relationship, partnership relationship, um, one that is like I guess I don't mean like I want to, I want to. My goal is not this year to have a relationship. I feel like that's a lot of pressure. I'm not saying that.
Speaker 1:I think what it is is like that I actually date with intention and that if it isn't right that I you don't feel like you can't walk away. Like listen.
Speaker 1:Hold up my integrity and my boundaries and not just stay in something because of the fear of being alone, or whatever it is, because that has that's been my you know my historically that's how I've made decisions in my romantic life and I think in it would be like awesome to just I guess, yeah, just to see the fruits of all of this hard work, uh, in this new year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I love that. I think that that will be something that, because of all the things you have been working on, like, I think that it will come easier than you.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think so too.
Speaker 2:It's just like stepping out and to the real world and not having you know, knowing you have a you know a zoom to get on, to talk about it like that. You just have to implement it on your own. I think that once you get over that hump and that becomes routine, then it will be you know, second nature.
Speaker 1:And I'm also excited to see like what happens professionally because, as I'll share with you listeners next, next week, I'm making some big changes career wise and treading some new paths.
Speaker 2:It's very exciting, I'm very excited. I am excited for you.
Speaker 1:Thank you and thank you for all of your support and for literally carrying my ass through this year Of course guys. Alison carried my ass.
Speaker 2:Literally. I picked them up. Of course, that is what friends are for him. Yes, well, looking into the next year, I on our note, we had some predictions, but before we get into our personal predictions. I asked ChatGPT to predict for us A little fortune teller moment.
Speaker 2:And I thought I'd read to you what ChatGPT is predicting for the year 2025 let's hear it in entertainment. They are predicting ai driven tv shows. The first major tv series co-written by ai and humans becomes a hit, sparking debates about created authorship. Number two, marvel's new era. A marvel cinematic universe reboot, or re-imagining, begins, featuring younger versions of iconic characters. What do you think about that? I feel like that's like okay, that's not that hard to say yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, chat. Gpt Live action anime renaissance. After several successful adaptations, studios invest heavily in turning anime classics, like one piece in naratu, into cinematic universes. Okay okay and then taylor, swift, surprise taylor. So surprises fans with a directorial debut that wins critical acclaim I do have taylor swift predictions, but I also have one.
Speaker 1:It doesn't.
Speaker 2:It wasn't that, but yeah, social media tikt evolution. A new feature lets users create hyper-personalized AI avatars, becoming the biggest trend of the year.
Speaker 3:If we still have TikTok, if TikTok is around.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it says meta is going to fade. Facebook officially retires the Facebook platform in favor of a fully immersive metaverse focus. Ew, does that mean I have to be in my Oculus? I? Don't get it, I don't want to do that car sickness, and then a rise of a niche platform. Small, hyper, hyper. Specific social apps become trendy as people look for more intimate online communities laps yeah but that's like already happened it is okay, in fashion 90s tech aesthetic returns cyberpunk chunky accessories. I feel like we already do that kind of.
Speaker 3:Thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then AI design fashion lines. It's just promoting its own thing.
Speaker 1:I love that.
Speaker 2:Music, AI pop stars Okay, Nostalgia overload. Boy bands and pop stars from the early 2000s like NSYNC and Britney Spears make major comebacks.
Speaker 1:I would love a Britney comeback, but I just don't think it's happening.
Speaker 2:Yeah, or you can come back.
Speaker 1:Your boy band, it's true. Yeah, let me just get all of them back together.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Hey guys, I know we all slept together, but yeah, well, I think most groups probably did. You're right, you're right.
Speaker 2:Um eSports in the Olympics. Isn't that already a thing?
Speaker 1:No, it is not.
Speaker 2:That's a chat GPT prediction. And then a wild card celebrity president. A celebrity like Dwayne the rock Johnson announces their candidacy for the 2028 U S presidential election. And then viral food trends. Lab grown meat becomes mainstream cultural topic, with a celebrity chef launching a fully lab grown menu Wow. So we'll see if any of those are right. Okay, do you? What are your predictions?
Speaker 1:in pop culture. I predict that we will get. I think we're gonna get. I agree with my friend megan, who has always thought that taylor is going to release an album called karma. That was supposed to be released and then all of the bullshit hit the fan and then she changed gears and that's when she wrote reputation. So there's this like missing part of her schedule, because everything is very calculated with taylor and has speculated that karma was going to be an album.
Speaker 1:Then she made it a track on midnights, obviously okay but I really do believe we're going to get Karma, the album and Reputation Taylor's version, and debut Taylor's version.
Speaker 2:So Karma was supposed to be when Reputation came out, which was what year?
Speaker 1:So Reputation? There was an extra year and then Reputation came out because she went into hiding because of all of the bullshit that was happening.
Speaker 3:With Scooter.
Speaker 1:No, Reputation was not because of Scooter bullshit that was happening, and with scooter. No, reputation was not because of scooter. What was reputation? Reputation?
Speaker 2:was Kanye.
Speaker 3:Yes, okay.
Speaker 1:And she was gearing up to release something. Okay, and then went into hiding. And then we comes out with reputation, which is basically written about the Kanye experience and the public turning turning on her so where's the project that she was already getting ready to put out? For sure never has seen the light of day okay and when the man music video came out after and the man wall predicted all of these releases. That has been accurate so far. On that man wall is the word karma. Oh so people.
Speaker 2:But then the song came out and they were like, oh, we think it's just. It was just a song.
Speaker 1:The fans are divided. Megan thinks it's a double album. I agree.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:I also think that we're going to see I think she and Travis are, if they're not already married, I think they're going to get secret married and we're just going to find out. Yeah, one of mine is they'll get engaged, but I think they'll be married and it's just going to be like a secret thing.
Speaker 2:Do you think they're already engaged? Maybe? They got engaged on Thanksgiving because their families were together and that would be the time Totally. How do I know that? A different podcast told me that.
Speaker 1:Love that, but yeah, I don't really have any other like big pop culture predictions. I mean I would love to see the downfall of the machine, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
Speaker 2:Like the overall.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like the Diddy Diddy kind of just starts the downfall of this.
Speaker 2:The music.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Conglomerate.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and movie conglomerates yeah, you know.
Speaker 2:I have a kind of random one, but I just feel like if Ariana and SpongeBob stay together, I think she is going to get pregnant.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, I mean, she could Wicked's done.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and she's like I'm taking a break from music and focusing on acting. But acting can take years. Like if there's a project she wants to work on some. I feel like sometimes people are like oh, we've been working on this for seven years.
Speaker 3:I think, um.
Speaker 2:Shailene Woodley just said that about Janis Joplin. She's like we've been working on this for seven years. I think Shailene Woodley just said that about Janis Joplin. She's like we've been working on this for seven years.
Speaker 3:Wow.
Speaker 2:So it doesn't mean that right away you know a project will happen and you can get. I mean, obviously pregnancy just takes nine months. That's it so if she has a project that she's going to start working on in 2026, like, all right, let's go 2025. Yeah, so I don't know. I was just like she seems she's been married and engaged all these times and she seems to be happy with spongebob she does so you know yeah might as well, but okay, I watched her actors on actors, a little bit of it with paul mescal, and there were sparks, I feel.
Speaker 1:Oh, I thought she seemed bored as hell.
Speaker 2:It was just the beginning that I saw like the first, like eight minutes, and they were just he's cute, by the way.
Speaker 1:I've never really looked at him. I saw him in person on BuzzFeed.
Speaker 2:And you know, I think that Pedro Pascal and him are the same person, even though they're different ages.
Speaker 3:Yeah, like.
Speaker 2:Their names are the same to me paul mescal, and they're both in gladiator.
Speaker 1:Paul mescal was born in 96 he's a young boy and he's like with an incredible, much older woman. She's like in her 50s or something.
Speaker 2:Oh, work, um, but yeah, I just I thought that they were kind of like, they were so complimentary of each other and I was like, are you guys flirting? But I also wasn't watching, I was just kind of listening while I was doing dishes. So that could have been it, yeah, but I don't know. That's really all I have. Bts should all be back, so maybe there'll be an album that'd be cute by bts. I would like one of them to announce they're gay I mean, that's what you want.
Speaker 2:Yes, no, I know that some of them are either married or in long-term relationships. I just want to. I want that to happen. I know it won't, but like, I just want to know yeah like I feel like rm and jen, like they're so much older that I feel like they can't and like how rough to be their other like you really have to like such a life of secrecy.
Speaker 1:But I guess you're with one of the members of bts.
Speaker 2:Like you're good for life yeah, as long as they are very um, open and reassuring and communicative, it's probably fine, because they don't spend a lot of time and it's just like the fans that are fantasizing about being their wife.
Speaker 1:Right.
Speaker 2:And it doesn't seem like there's actual Right. You don't ever see them, like, oh, they were spotted at this club until 4 am. Like that doesn't happen really. So I would assume they just kind of go home to their significant others that are secret.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2:You just can't, you know, post on Instagram pictures of you, which is the human nature to show off. But you're also really rich, so period you know, take it as it comes. But yeah, I was just like if, if they're in you know relationships or marriages, like I just would like to see it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, guys, our good friend emily from not the great white north, that's canada um tito. Emily from australia, uh, who's attending uni right now. She sent us she was so kind enough to send us a a quiz about australian things, right? Am I saying this right?
Speaker 2:Yeah, it says Australia. Pop culture quiz.
Speaker 1:Oh, hell yeah, Emily, thank you.
Speaker 2:It says answers at the bottom, so I'm going to try not to see.
Speaker 3:Okay, okay.
Speaker 2:It seems. Wait, oh, then she also has general pop culture. Okay, so there's five questions. Oh my gosh, you guys. I need to just like look before I speak.
Speaker 1:Okay, look before you speak.
Speaker 2:There's Christmas trivia, there's general pop culture I don't want to see the answers and sports.
Speaker 1:Oh great, okay, okay, okay yeah okay, so Christmas trivia.

Speaker 2:that's a whole other object that we don't know.
Speaker 1:True.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Cause you know they they call your fanny is your vagina.
Speaker 2:Fanny flutters. That happens on Love Island, usa. They talk about fanny flutters.
Speaker 1:Like a fanny pack sits on the front. That's your fanny.
Speaker 2:Okay, I didn't correlate those two things, but I do know about Fanny Flutters from Love Island, and I think that's means when you get a little tingle in your pringle. Yep, okay, which traditional Australian event takes place on December 26th, the day after Christmas?
Speaker 1:We know.
Speaker 2:The Melbourne Cup, sydney to Hobart yacht race, anzac Day Parade or the Easter show.

Speaker 2:Isn't that UK? I don't know, okay, um my guess is the yacht race the yacht race.
Speaker 1:I was going to say the race from Sydney to Sweden, but not Sweden.
Speaker 2:New. Zealand.
Speaker 1:What did it say? Sydney to what?
Speaker 2:Oh sorry, City to Hobart yacht race. That's the same thing yeah, okay, that's b, that's correct hell.

Speaker 1:British 100%.
Speaker 3:Dang it Sorry, sorry about that Dang it Okay.
Speaker 2:Well, but also a fun fact when, in between college and starting my office job yeah, for a summer a group of us friends did a sort of like a sketch comedy thing called Thursday Night. Something, something no, it was tnt.
Speaker 2:I forget what the thursday night tonight don't know okay um, thursday night theater, okay, and we would put on a show every thursday at the country club and sell tickets. It was our way of getting a little extra money every week. But also we there was so many of us that the split was just like 40 bucks a piece, and then we would just go have dinner and spend it. So it was like silly, but we did this every week. And I one time there was a sketch where I was supposed to play Abby Lee Miller, but she was supposed to be a British version. It was like not her, it was like the character was based on her, but she was the British version of her. But my accent just sounded Australian and it just went back and forth while I was doing it and I'm not a good actor, so that probably made it worse.
Speaker 3:So that is fun fact that.
Speaker 2:I can't really do an, either a British or Australian, it just gets into one.
Speaker 1:I love that.
Speaker 2:Do you want to hear the birthdays for today?
