Speaker 1I was just thinking about you asking if I got cat keys.
Speaker 2I was like here. Let me see, oh, she's at Kohl's.
Speaker 1Yeah, I was like going to leave early anyway. So when you text me I was walking out the door, but I was going to the Dollar Tree, okay.
Speaker 2Did you like the 99 cent only store? Are you Dollar Tree girly?
Speaker 1I'm kind of a Dollar Tree girl, because that's what I.
Speaker 2Back home. Yeah, that's what I know. It's the beast we know, but I went.
Speaker 1I did go to that one when it was a 99 cent only.
Speaker 2When we lived over on Lancashire 99, only 99 cent 99 cent only store.
Speaker 1Why wasn't it only 99 cent?
Speaker 2I don't know, because it also nothing was, just like the.
Speaker 1Dollar Tree is now what?
Speaker 2$1.75?
Speaker 1$1.25.
Speaker 2Ah, okay, some things I think are more. No, but there used to be a day so when my dad owned the Radio Shack franchise. It was like in this area, behind a small patch of woods, was a Walmart that had a Dollar Tree next to it.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And there was a path through the woods to go from my the back of the radio shack to the Walmart.
Speaker 1Hey, siblings, if you're listening a path through the woods to Narnia to Walmart and Dollar Tree. Walmart, walmart Nia.
Speaker 2Walmart Nia. So my dad, if he was ever getting really sick of us at the store and like needed us to go, he would give us a $5 bill and let us go pick out something from Dollar Tree. You just can't do that anymore.
Speaker 1What would you get?
Speaker 2Oh anything. Once I got an angel figurine, I don't know why because I was in a trinket.
Speaker 1Not like candy, no, I never got.
Speaker 2Nathan and Abby would always get candy. But Kayla and I were like what kind of stationery do I need? You know, I got a um the last thing I remember getting was an inflate, was a blow-up uh pillow for the bathtub. So I've been ivy loving baths my whole life that does track right and it was shaped like a seashell oh, anyway, the point of that is you can't send four children with a five dollar bill to get one thing each dollar tree anymore yeah, because was there not tax on it back then?
Speaker 2Yeah, huh, five cents.
Speaker 1Five cents. So, oh, there's four, only four of you.
Speaker 2Yeah, so the last dollar was for the tax.
Speaker 1That's true. You can't do that. You have to send 10.
Speaker 2You wouldn't, you'd have to send 10, maybe eight, maybe eight.
Speaker 1Point is Speaking of no. That's not a good segue, but I do have to tell you something. I have learned that my LeBubu was fake. I have a LeFufu. I'm so upset.
Speaker 2No, fucking way. How did you learn this?
Speaker 1I posted so I was able to find the audio. Oh, you were, because I was vlogging. While I did it, I vlogged my whole thing, so I just took the audio from the vlog and put it over the video that was that a nightmare?
Speaker 2did you figure it out? No, it was so great.
Speaker 1Okay, good, good and I uploaded my tiktok and immediately people were like fake, fake they were like so sorry to tell you, but it's fake no fucking way. And I was like, wait, how? First of all, how do I know? Because the like Pop Mart logo was on it. There was on the foot. It said Pop Mart, it everything.
Speaker 2I'm shocked.
Speaker 1It's so, it's so close.
Speaker 2Where did you buy it from?
Speaker 1eBay. But that's because people are having to resell them, because I didn't think anything of it. Because people are having to resell them because they're um selling out so much on on the website. And people are having to resell them because they're selling out so much on the website. Yeah, yeah. And people are buying them to resell them like they do. Everything else, correct? Yeah, so it wasn't weird to me, right? Because people are buying them on Facebook Marketplace.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1And like how do you know that's real or not?
Speaker 2What were the tells and?
Speaker 1that's why I was telling you when you were like, oh, to be fake, because they're too hard to get for people just to be like, oh I have them at this kiosk, yeah, but in the on eBay I was like, yeah, people are doing this on purpose to they're buying a bunch of them on when it drops on the website, and then they're reselling them. So I was like this is probably normal Right.
Speaker 1And then I didn't keep the packaging because I didn't know I was supposed to, and I guess in the real boxes there's a QR code and something in it, but I was like I just threw it away, so I can't even tell that. They told me that the ears are too far apart.
Speaker 2What the kids know. This yeah.
Speaker 3Whoa.
Speaker 1And there's something else that was like a major, like a really easy tell yeah. And on the foot, the imprint. The imprint of the pot Mar is more pronounced, I guess, on the real one.
Speaker 2You have a foo foo.
Speaker 1I have a fake, but it looks close enough.
Speaker 2Do they make the fake ones in the same like colors and category?
Speaker 1Exactly no it is literally it. The ears are just too far apart, like everything else is normal, and it was shedding a lot and they were like that's also an indication because it's not as good quality oh my god, but she was soft yeah, but like when I touched her, like it she shed interesting.
Speaker 3So I'm really sorry it's okay, I it looks so close that people would have to really Do you still have an itch?
Speaker 1I kind of do want to get a real one, but I'm not. I haven't purchased one I went.
Speaker 2I saw a new person for my hair Cause you know she's very into lulus and educated me on a lot of it. And she said, cause she has some, a couple of them, on pre-order and they don't even ship the pre-order from the actual pop mart. Uh, she's not going to have them. She's in the first wave and it's not shipping until the second week of October.
Speaker 1Well, what I was just about to say is I think there's a drop that happens at seven.
Speaker 2What. So let me go to the you should set an alarm at the app.
Speaker 1Yeah, you have to buy them on the app. On the website it says it can only be purchased through the app.
Speaker 2Have you been to the Pop Mart store in the mall yet? I?
Speaker 1didn't, because it had a security guard and I was not about to go in there. It's a really small store so I could see it. Let me just search.
Speaker 2I wonder if the employees hoard them in the back and it's kind of like getting a Birkin where you can't really like ask about it.
Speaker 1You have to, they have to vet you. Yeah, okay, I need to type in was it big monster?
Speaker 2Little monsters.
Speaker 1No Big into energy.
Speaker 2What? Oh yeah, yeah, that was yours yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, sign in members only.
Speaker 2Pish posh, you're not already auto logged into the website?
Speaker 1I thought I was Woof. Okay, countdown 17 minutes.
Speaker 2You're gonna try to buy one.
Speaker 1Set timer for 16 minutes.
Speaker 2Yeah, we should do this live on the podcast.
Podcast Intro and Vegas Recap
Speaker 1It's $27. I can I guess I can swing that. Yeah Well at least they're not gouging, true? Okay, anyway, she's fake and I'm really sorry, that's sad. If for some reason, I can click it and put one in the cart, I'll get it and then you have to open it on the pod. This time okay, I can do that. Welcome back to the alist podcast with allison and alex.
Speaker 2I'm allison, he's alex I kind of like that. That's just naturally become the way, the way we do it. It is different from any other podcaster I've listened to I don't know if that's a good thing.
Speaker 1We are talking over each other and that is yeah, if they're new, they have no idea what we're saying, but sure.
Speaker 2We do say our names together in the first part.
Speaker 1Because the Al is right.
Speaker 2No, welcome back to the A-List podcast with Allison and Alex.
Speaker 3I'm Alex, she's Allison.
Speaker 2Right, so we say it together first. That's true, anyway, welcome back everyone.
Speaker 1Welcome back, Welcome back to California.
Speaker 2Thank you.
Speaker 1Tell the people what you did.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, you guys. So I gave the. I do think I said I was going to be having a week in Vegas. Well, I just got. I've completed that week in Vegas, okay. Okay, I worked on Monday, I dropped Nope, yep. And then Tuesday began like a really long Vegas week, which, again, if you've been listening to this pod, you know that one of my favorite places in the whole world is Las Vegas. So, and I hadn't been well, it had been a month because I was there for the AMAs, but prior to that I didn't. I haven't gone to.
Speaker 1Vegas in over a year. Prior to that, since I met you, you've been like I have to go to Vegas, it's calling me, I have to dance at the club.
Speaker 2It's so fun. Okay, I love Vegas. Anyway, Tuesday got up dropped Stanley at the sitter, was pretty nervous but he did great, he's here, Everything's normal. And then we drove, drove to Las Vegas.
Speaker 1How long?
Speaker 2We got there so fast. Four hours 20 minutes.
Speaker 1I thought it was like three hours. I thought it was like three hours.
Speaker 2That's Palm Springs. Palm Springs is two without traffic Vegas if you're lucky is four and a half hours.
Speaker 1Dang, there's no train.
Speaker 2No, but it's being built right now, but it leaves out of Santa Clarita.
Speaker 3Oh, you said drive up to Santa Clarita. It's not that far from here, to be honest.
Speaker 2Drive park, get in the train. I think they said the train will take six hours, but at least you don't have to like drive and it's scenic I'd rather drive, but they're doing it like to be a scenic train oh, not a bullet train I don't know it should be fast.
Speaker 1What no one cares about, it is fast it's stop, it's gonna have stops.
Speaker 2It's like stopping in palmedale and I don't know, okay, anyway, point is we drove four hours, 20 minutes record time. We get to to our hotel, mgm Graham. Here's my review.
Speaker 1You didn't say the Aria.
Speaker 2Never, always stay at the Aria if you can, but never stay at the MGM Grand. What an awful hotel. Really Is it just so old, but now that I think that's what it is, and like they were renovating a lot of the rooms, but we were in a room that was so unbelievably hot that none of us slept the first night. Um, I think my, I got like maybe three and a half four hours.
Speaker 1Did you think about going down to the?
Speaker 2office, we complained our asses off and we're told that the oh, it doesn't get cooler than 76. And I was like just because it's summer in Nevada, but also that's a lie, like if the thermostat can go down to 65, then the air can go down to 65.
Speaker 1They just were trying to save money.
Speaker 2No, they were just trying to not have to fix something that was broken, so I'm not going to get into the nitty gritty of all this. But they sent two maintenance men. The first one gas lit us and said that he changed a coil and fixed a filter. And we're good.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2And then we were like we're like getting ready for Gaga. It's still not cooling off. Karina calls down. She's like send someone else. We want to be here this time. Send them in the next 20 minutes, please. And they did. This guy was so nice, he opened it up and he was like the filter is changed, I'll show you, but the coil was not changed and I'll be honest with you, uh-oh, yeah. So he was so nice, yeah, and he, he did change the motor and a coil and we.
Speaker 1That night we were able to get it down to 71, so way better than 78, which was the first and no fans, no fans they don't do, they do they don't do that they definitely have to have fans because, like, what if the like bath floods or something?
Speaker 2oh, that was the other thing our pipe in the bathroom was leaking perfect so it's just bad yeah and then. But the cabana incredible.
Speaker 1And I went to the gym every morning, gym terrible and that's that I would imagine except no, not at mgm I just feel like it's so old it has to be one of the originals, right? Park mgm is the older one oh okay, what's it like, are they not? Their sister hotels but they're not next to each other they're across from each other josh is a big fan of the cosmopolitan.
Speaker 2That's like that's where we, just that's your.
Speaker 1His aria is the cosmopolitan.
Lady Gaga Concert Experience
Speaker 2Very similar, yeah very similar um the arias beds are just unmatched and I'm sorry but they're just unmatched I wouldn't know so gaga. You guys was incredible. We saw the opening night of the tour. It was insane opening.
Speaker 1Was there any like special surprises for the opening?
Speaker 2no, literally nothing, except that the surprise was she went on 45 minutes late. Um yeah, uh, no, yeah, surprise.
Speaker 1That sucks, because when did it start? Well, the thing is like everyone was.
Speaker 2they were so strictly like doors at seven, concert promptly at eight, and even then I was like what?
Speaker 1Did she have?
Speaker 2an opener? No openers.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So we left our hotel, we stayed at MGM, mostly because it was within walking distance, less than half a mile, same side of the road which you know at Vegas. No, you don't know.
Speaker 1But in Vegas if you have to get somewhere on the other side.
Speaker 2It is a whole thing. They have bridges every so often, but if you're not in one of the hotels near them, it's a lot of walking.
Speaker 1Oh, there's not a crosswalk inside.
Speaker 2There is no the crosswalks no, not in the main track.
Speaker 1Someone call it the strip.
Speaker 2The strip yes, Not in that main strip. So anyway, we walked there. We left our hotel at 6.50 and we were outside until 7.50 standing in a line to get to security.
Speaker 1Oh, you couldn't even go in?
Speaker 2No, because it was so bottlenecked. It was like everyone in the courtyard of the T-Mobile arena trying to get down to four security lines. It was stupid.
Speaker 1Yeah, they fixed a lot of kinks 118 degrees?
Speaker 2Nope, this is the risk you run with opening nights of things.
Speaker 1Yeah, because they for sure for the next night. They fixed it.
Speaker 2Randomly didn't know it, but our tickets were part of a special section, the Bud like lounge section. So once we were in through security, we had our own entrance, our own bar, private bathrooms, like we never had to wait for anything, and the seats were really great, like it was a really uh, we had plenty of. Once we got in, we had time to pee, cool off, get a drink, get in our seat. Right before her pre-show like video started which was like 15 minutes long.
Speaker 1So her being late was good, because you weren't even in there.
Speaker 2That is definitely why they didn't start it, cause we were. Yeah, by the time we got through security, the courtyard was still filled with people. Yeah, so it was going to be like I don't think, like the arena didn't even look that full to me until she started her second song.
Speaker 1Yeah, but what I'm wondering is this can't be the first show. That's there, right? Right so if they know how many tickets were sold, true they've had other concerts yes why? Why would it be miss handled, mismanaged, like that?
Speaker 2I don't know if they expected, like everyone's- fan groups are different you know what I mean. And like no one was being unruly, but like maybe they expected the fans would line up earlier. But again, it's in the Vegas heat. Who's doing that?
Speaker 3No, like we're not going until doors open.
Speaker 2Yeah 118 anyway.
Speaker 1The show oh hold.
Speaker 2Holding.
Speaker 1They didn't have any of fans no, literally none.
Speaker 2But everyone was in good spirits. The fans were nice um. Karina got a tap on her shoulder like literally, the show just starts she has a tap on her shoulder hey, I can't see anything over you. Can you just stand back against your seat?
Speaker 1not even to you.
Speaker 2She was like no, get better seats because, also karina was standing in my seat area, so yeah if we had gone back, it would have been me, which is like four inches worse yeah and karina's her credit.
Speaker 1You just know that going to a concert like it's like you. It's a risk that you take going to a stand-up concert.
Speaker 2We are with emma and justine, who are your height yeah they're like we just know, when you go to a show, you just find your window yeah and it was. I mean, it ended up being fine, but it was like oh, of course. Karina literally just said my biggest fear is like and I was like oh, mine too yeah being tall and in a concert is the worst.
Speaker 1And at the backstreet boys concert the couple behind me left oh yeah, anyway, gaga was amazing yeah, you can't, it's just something you have to and, like Karina, didn't wear heels either.
Speaker 2She was like trying to really make herself be small and I was in fucking platform boots. Anyway, gaga's set was amazing. The girls had seen her at Coachella, so they were. They were like the first two acts, because it was four acts in a finale. The first two acts were exactly like Coachella, and then, act three, everything changed, so we got some art pop like we got applause, which was amazing. We, so we got some art pop, like we got applause, which was amazing.
Speaker 1Nice.
Speaker 2We got, we got shallow from.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Stars born.
Speaker 1Did. The assumption is that Paris goable choreographed the whole thing.
Speaker 2It said it like the credits right at the end. Um, which to me is always like I'm curious. I mean we just when you choreograph a tour, I assume you're also choreographing the staging, or is there a director that does that? Because so much of Gaga is theater?
Speaker 1I assume that there is also a what's it called Art director there was yeah. Yeah, I think they probably work together.
Speaker 2Because most of, except for everything from her new album, which is new choreography, all of the other stuff is her same choreography, like that's the one thing right, she keeps everything the same, which is great, I think, for her brain and not having to cause a lot of artists will change, like Beyonce changes her fucking routines every time.
Speaker 1Yeah, but what I assume I'm not not having choreographed a tour before is that the probably Gaga, that the probably gaga, the art director and the choreographer all sit down and they're like okay, we this song, this is what's happening in this song, this is the choreography whether it's new choreography or the old, okay. And then it's like okay, we want, she's going to be on the lift on this one, so we want three dancers over here.
Speaker 3We want three dancers over here.
Speaker 1We want a couple on the um runway and then so we'll need, uh, four, eight counts of choreography here yeah and then we're going to transition back to everyone. Stay on stage behind gaga, then we go into, you know, the next section and whatever.
Speaker 2That's what I assume I feel like that makes sense, but it was so I was like what? Is paris choreography, but that makes sense. But it was so I was like what is Paris choreography, but that makes sense, other than the new songs. Yeah, but it was great. The state, the, the visuals were insane. It was a very emotional show, like um, and my biggest takeaway is the. I I mean the amount of times she says put your hands up, put your effing hands up, pause up, like she says it so much yeah that it became almost like comical, like all right you
Speaker 1have to leave it up. Yeah, put your fucking hands up.
Speaker 2Anyway, it was hype, it was great, good, um, she ended it so beautifully like she ended with the one that everyone thinks is like a taylor swift co.
Speaker 3Right, how bad do you want how I don't know how bad do you want?
Speaker 2me yes, you do. I even showed it to you and said that this is the song?
Speaker 1Yeah, but I still don't know it.
Speaker 2Right, how bad bad do you want me? Do you know that one? No, you bounced your head like you did.
Speaker 1I was just going along with it.
Speaker 2Oh, thank you. Anyway, she ends the show with bad romance.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2I think it's bad romance.
Speaker 1Did she sing Edge of Glory? Yes, she did. Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 2Born this Way for some reason made me cry.
Speaker 3I was like this is so gay of me right now. It's pretty gay of you.
Speaker 2This is so homosexual.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2But like she did this, I don't know, it was just like epic and she was just like hands up for your freedom hands up for your rights, everyone hands off your rights everyone was just like losing their shit. Yeah, um good energy, just good energy. Yeah, but she ends the show, then she rolls the credits. So you're like looking at the screen, the lights have not come on. Fools thought it was over, so like hundreds of people started yeah, you can't do that.
Speaker 2The lights, the house lights are not on and gaga would never end without like bowing yeah it's a show she loves to give a shout out to her dancers too yeah and she didn't. So everyone's like hauling ass out of there and I'm like we're not leaving. She's not done, the credits end. And then she I can't the like backstage camera is she's singing while she's changing.
Speaker 1Oh, I saw a clip of this, yeah.
Speaker 2She's just like getting into her like sweats. She puts on a beanie cause she wore a hundred, and then she comes back on stage and, just like, sings the whole song without choreography and then brings out all her dancers and they all just like party together.
Speaker 2Then she gives them each a bow. And then there's this one lead dancer in the show who, like, plays the count her like the Hades. It's an opera. She like wrote an opera that, like the story is told through her music, and so she wrote the opera to make sense with each of the songs.
Speaker 3It was beautifully done.
Speaker 2That's cool. So there's one lead person that plays her. Do you remember in the Coachella performance for poker face? It was like oh we. Girl with a blonde wig.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2So it was that character the whole time would just change between like white and red clothes.
Speaker 3And.
Speaker 2I didn't know till the end, when she, like, had her take her hat off, and it was one person that gave her her own bow oh, and was like so grateful and then hugged her so like that was very emotional way that they danced together the whole show anyway, gaga was beautiful. Afterward, I think like we, we thought we'd rage, like we were like we're gonna fucking party, but we spent the whole day at a cabana so we were exhausted by the sun yeah um did you go out at all?
Speaker 2no, well, we went out the first night for dinner, okay, but we didn.
Speaker 1You didn't go to a club. No, no, no, no, oh my gosh, you still.
Speaker 2I still have not gone. Well, we got to go to a club last night for a little bit, but I yeah, we were. I was like afterward I was like cause I wanted merch? The merch line was crazy outside before it like opened back up so I was like I guess we'll get in line. Yeah, so it happened rather quickly, okay, and then I was literally like holding these women. The two girls had to take their shoes off, so it was so, vegas, hurry, get up, guys. This is a live pause pause because the sale is about to begin.
Speaker 2This is so stupid. Pull it up, pull it, pull it up.
Speaker 1Pull it up. Pull it up. Add to cart.
Speaker 2Did you get it? No, fucking way.
Speaker 1Wait, please select an item.
Speaker 2La boo boo.
Speaker 1Yes, the monster is big into energy Not available. Yet what, why'd you do that to me? 43 seconds, okay, you guys, okay, not available yet. What? Why'd you do that to me? 43 seconds, okay, you guys. Okay, this is crazy.
Speaker 2How many people right now they're going to crash the system, much like being movies did to eBay.
Speaker 1The whole set is 167. Nope. Do it, what no? It doesn't ship until September 14th. This is kind of boring, why do you want?
Speaker 2No, it isn't. Stay vigilant. Why do you want the big energy collection, though? No, don't change now.
Speaker 1This is just the one I got. The other one is like exciting macaron or something.
Speaker 2No, forget that. Get the big energy and then compare it to yours.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think I got to compare.
Speaker 2Give us a 10-second countdown. Six seconds.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh, that went so fast. That was not 30 seconds, that was crazy Two one Add to cart.
Speaker 3Add to cart.
Speaker 1It's too popular right now. Check back soon what.
Speaker 2Refresh, refresh.
Speaker 1Successfully added. Check out.
Speaker 2Hurry.
Speaker 1Oops, it's too popular right now. Come back soon.
Speaker 2No, what am I supposed to do If it added to cart? What do you mean?
Speaker 1Wait, why do I have three of them? I don't want three. That's how they get you.
Speaker 2They throw more in your cart.
Speaker 1Add to cart. Check out Keep trying. This is so stupid. Keep trying it literally says keep trying. Too popular.
Speaker 2Please check back in a few minutes well, you just keep hitting refresh while I finish. It's good, no okay, I'll just you know what this is this is a version of the disneyland game it is, except it's gonna feel so good when you, when it goes through, you're gonna, it's gonna be like the dopamine rush if I have to pay.
Speaker 1It went through.
Speaker 2Oh my God, here we go.
Speaker 1Add a new address.
Speaker 2This is fucking crazy. What are the odds?
Speaker 1I can't. I can't text you right now. Whoever's texting me?
Speaker 2Stop it, stop texting her. Allison is currently putting in her information for her big energy Laboo boo monster. Okay, while she does that, I'm just going to finish my Gaga story. Okay, so the show is great. We get out of the show, we're exhausted, girls have their shoes off. We're walking through the streets of the casino New York, new York, without shoes on. Well, the girls two of them, not me and we get back to the hotel room and then it kind of hits us all like, oh, we're going to sleep right away because exhaustion. So we went to sleep, we got up, we went to brunch at Paris and it was delicious. And then we hit the road and the drive back took us nearly six hours. Yeah, those of you that are listening and not watching, alison looked at me with disgust and then did a thumbs down. So she's in support. We got back, guys, this is what I'm saying, you guys.
Speaker 1It's literally not taking my address.
Speaker 2Is your address real? Did you put the correct zip code?
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Okay, my whole week started basically Tuesday morning at 8 am when I dropped Stanley at the Sitters, and so now, if you're with me, we're back from Vegas, from Gaga, incredible show, amazing concert. I got some great merch. I got two crop shirts, allie, I'll show you and then okay, so then I'm back. Thursday my car was being stored at Emily's Emily, I know you're listening, I love you so much. Thank you again for letting me store my car there while we were in Vegas Such a huge help.
Speaker 2Picked up my car from Em and Bri and then immediately drove to Susanna, my friend Susanna, who just moved to Boca Ta, colombia, where she will be living for the next two, maybe three years, depending on how it goes, to teach, and we had to say goodbye to her because she was leaving Friday morning. So we go straight from Culver City to Winnetka, we get some in and out, we say goodbye to Susanna it's emotional. I drive home, boyfriend is waiting for me at my place, we go to sleep, we wake up Friday morning, we go to the airport and I'm back in Vegas again, just like that. So now I'm in Vegas. Sounds like I'm reading a book.
Speaker 1It's like an audio book. I just got it to take my address and it says some items are sold out. Please select alternatives. Trying one more time and then I'm giving up.
Speaker 2Okay, so we get to the airport. We have an incredible Bloody Mary. Wait, yes, bloody Mary, we go to the Burbank airport. By the way, you guys and I scheduled an Uber for pickup and it was flawless, by the way. What's the verdict?
Speaker 1It is already changed to insufficient stock for this item and um add to get notifications.
Speaker 2And just like that, alison has lost the bag Notifying you unavailable, and just like that.
Speaker 1Allison has lost the bag Notifying you when available. That was like how many minutes? Four minutes.
Speaker 2They sold out in less than four minutes.
Speaker 1And it wouldn't take my address. It kept saying like it was wrong but it was not wrong. And then when I would click save when it was, I took it again, put it in again. It wouldn't go to the next page.
Speaker 2Guys, if you feel bad for Allison, send her a little boo-boo. Our PO box is almost active.
Speaker 1It's not almost active, but you can find the fitness Marshall. Po box on the booty army website.
Speaker 2Make sure it says attention out back of booty Allison.
Speaker 1Yeah, please do, cause Caleb will steal it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm sure. Um, so we're at'm sure. So, for those of you jumping right back in, I'm now on my second trip to Vegas. We are at the Burbank airport. I had an incredible Bloody Mary and a breakfast burrito, and then we got on a plane and we got there. We stayed at the Cosmo this time, which is way better than the MGM. Our view was stunning. We got to see the Palazzo. Thank you. The fountain. Nope Not the Palazzo Venetia.
Speaker 1Nope, it is the.
Speaker 2Palazzo. Wait, are we saying Bellagio, bellagio?
Speaker 1The Palazzo is the apartments that Yep.
Speaker 2No, that all the celebrities live in.
Speaker 1Yes by the Grove.
Speaker 2Palazzo.
Speaker 1Palazzo, I think it's renamed, no, it isn't.
Speaker 2I think you're right. I think you're right. I think I confused you last time when I was talking, you did but the Palazzo is the one that was.
Speaker 1Yes, that's the one, whatever they lived in on the hills.
Speaker 2They renamed it to the palazzo no, I think it's always been called that and I gaslit you okay, it doesn't matter, but no it doesn't. I'm sorry about that, because I keep, every time I've driven past me, like, oh, this is what I thought that she was talking about and it's not.
Speaker 1It does anyway I think they might have called it something different on the show to protect the identity correct.
Speaker 2Okay, anyway, we we could see the bellagio fountain yes, bellagio, right yeah now all these words sound so fucked, definitely right okay, it was a beautiful view and the sphere, so we could see the sphere being like oh yeah backstreet boys.
Speaker 2Um and yes. So we got in. Three of us of the five got. No. Four of us of the five of us got in there and then two of them were staying at planet hollywood. Three of us were at. I stayed at planet ho there, and then two of them were staying at Planet Hollywood. Three of us were at.
Speaker 1I stayed at Planet Hollywood the one time, the one night I oh, that's right, you were at Planet Hollywood.
Speaker 2So we, the three of us that were oh my God, math Hinsky four of us that were there, we did a little walking around. We went to the shops, we got some snack. I had a snack and then one of the girls that flew in from New York, um, new friend, Talia. Hey, she was like I'm going to go to Gaga and, like on a whim, got a ticket to go solo to Gaga, which I love.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2So then, um, boyfriend and his friend and I went to dinner, Okay, Where'd you go? He made us reservations to STK. I think we have one here in LA.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2But it was in our hotel, so I was like let's just keep things close.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2It worked out too. So we go up there and first of all we he and I are early and our friends me is there, so we were like we're just going to go to the bar and get a drink and then check in.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2So we go get a martini. It was like for two martinis it was $68 or $67. But when in Vegas.
Speaker 1No, it shouldn't be like that, I know.
Speaker 2Oh, because pause, let's rewind for a second Pause. At the Cabana I had a 32-ounce Tito, 32-ounce Titos and soda for $30. Incredible deal, yeah.
Speaker 1Ew though that's yeah, ew though that's so big.
Speaker 2It was massive, just soda, nothing else in it. Well, lime.
Speaker 1I would have had to have 16 limes in that.
Speaker 2Oh, I just had two.
Speaker 1Who the.
Speaker 2I really like the taste of Tito's vodka. I really do.
Speaker 3That's all right.
Speaker 2And then just with the little bubbles, anyway, the food at the cabana, the food guys, I will say, mgm, just go there by a pool pass, it's $25. And then the cabana prices then you get a cabana on top of that, but they don't. It's the same price for a hotel guest. It's not like it's different.
Speaker 1Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2Anyway the nice okay, moving on good music great music, and it wasn't house music the whole time, yeah, no, it was great, it was like top 40s yeah great music, um, and you could drink, have your drink and be in the lazy river. So we literally just like floated around getting drunk in the lazy river. It was amazing I love that.
Speaker 2So that part, yes. Um, now we're back. We have our martinis boyfriend's, like I'm gonna go check in. Probably when he's doing that. Third friend arrives. We're now at the bar. He comes back. He's like they they're telling me I have to go change my clothes because he was In a tank, like a tank top, but looked so good and far more put together than Joe wearing jean shorts and tennis shoes with a ball cap on.
Speaker 1There was someone in there wearing that you just couldn't have your arms out. It's just, men cannot have their.
Speaker 2They have to ball cap on. There was someone in there wearing that. Yes, you just couldn't have your arms out as a man. Men have to have sleeves.
Speaker 1At least you were in your hotel.
Speaker 2Directly behind him at the bar is a man in a button-up shirt that has flamingos and AK-47s on it.
Speaker 1That's insane. I was like that's allowed Freedom of button-up, I guess, but he's like out of principle.
Speaker 2He's like, no, I'm not changing. I was like yeah, no not changing. So then the friend that was with us, she's like okay, this is ridiculous. Now we're like 10 minutes past our reservation time, the thing's still not buzzing.
Speaker 2She goes up there, they're like running 30 minutes back, 20, 30 minutes behind, she's able to negotiate a free round of drinks for this inconvenience. Nice, so that's great. The third round of drinks comes right as we finally get our table. We go to sit down and we look at the menu. The prices are unreal. Unreal. Like what? Like a side of fries $32.
Speaker 1How big is a side?
Speaker 2I don't know A side.
Speaker 1It was like Enough for the whole table.
Speaker 2Well, no, that's insane. And the steaks were like started at $125. The Caesar salad was like $40. It was just like.
Speaker 1So did you just say never mind.
Speaker 2Well, the service was just so bad.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So we were like Taco Bell Cantina, it is so Shelly, that's her name. She was with us, so she's like the restaurant next door looks good. Let me just go see.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2She was over there. She's like they can see this right now. So we finish our free drinks and literally just bounce.
Speaker 1Yeah, because you paid at the bar for the other ones.
Speaker 2Yes, Correct, so the only thing.
Speaker 1Just making sure you didn't dine and dash.
Speaker 2I did not dine and dash, although they did bring the free bread to the table. One of the best dinners I've ever had.
Speaker 1It was so good. What kind of food.
Speaker 2Italian have you ever been to Gordon Ramsay's? No, I haven't been to Gordon Ramsay's. I don't remember the name of what this restaurant was, but it was right next to SDK. Okay, no wait, we get in there. We have delicious oysters.
Speaker 1You're an oyster boy.
Speaker 2We have.
Speaker 1Hope you don't get food poisoning.
Speaker 2I didn't. That was Friday night, I think I'd know.
Speaker 1You definitely would.
Speaker 2We had delicious oysters. We Half chicken that we shared. It was so tender and delicious we got a sommelier.
Speaker 3Is it an ad for?
Speaker 2them. We had a sommelier Approach and give us Best and one of the best wines White wines I've had. It was so good yeah. So we just shared a bunch of shit.
Speaker 1Yeah. And it was great and reasonably priced as it should be right, so then uh and the dress code was fine not an issue and they were lovely.
Speaker 2The service was so good yeah and then we um. So after that, then finally, after a delayed flight out of la, which is a night it's so annoying to be delayed on the on a trip to vegas from la because like come on, because you're like I could be home so fast correct. So she gets there and she rallies, she changes really fast. Then we go out and meet up with some other other friends that happen to be there for gaga, not backstreet boys met up with them, hung out in the casino for a bit and then went to bed around.
Speaker 2Like when we went to bed starving, we wanted room service of course, it was probably closed no, it's 24 hours, but it was like it's a 90 minute wait and I was like I have no time for that. So I look on uber eats and it's like you can get shake shack in 20 minutes. It was like hell yeah shake shack took an hour and 40 minutes. I've never been so was there anywhere?
Speaker 1like are they? Do they have like food outside? Just like carts, vendors like you could just like?
Speaker 2maybe, but we were pretty drunk and high and I didn't want to get out of that bed. I was willing to go down to valet to pick up an order, but that's as far as I wanted to go and it came so late, would have been quicker to have room service yeah whatever, it was delicious and it hit the spot.
Speaker 1So then, so the note is that if you are out, you need to pre-order your drunk food. Yeah, because you can.
Speaker 2Yeah from the app. So next day is backstreet boys day. We get up casually, we have room service breakfast. We went and sat by the pool at the Cosmo, which they have multiple. We stayed at the one on the 14th floor. It was really dope. There weren't any like seats available right away, so we sat at the bar, we had a super delicious fruity drink and then just kind of lounged at the pool for a couple hours, went down, got ready, headed over to the backstreet boys and it was insane.
Speaker 1The sphere sorry sphere is wait, what did you say differently? Oh wait, but you have to say the. You can't just say okay, I have a side now okay, okay, you know how people here get like really annoyed when you say you're not supposed to say the pch, you're just supposed to say pch never heard someone get mad about actually insane to me yeah, someone has said that no, I've heard people.
Speaker 1I've heard that's a thing because it's like I took, because people here it's weird you say the 405 or whatever, but in reference to pacific coast highway, which is the highway that goes all the way up the coast of california, people don't say the pch. That's like an indicator that you're like not from here, or like you're okay.
Speaker 1Well, we come from a state where there's never the I know, but here there is except for for that sorry, I must have snoozed last time stop, just stop, and um. So it's like you're supposed to say, oh, we tookCH, but that grammatically sounds insane. The PCH sounds correct, so the sphere when you're referencing it.
Speaker 2Yes, yeah. But its name as a building is not the sphere, it's just sphere.
Speaker 1Sphereless.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Okay, but yeah, in reference to going there, I say at the the okay, okay, but yeah, in reference to going there, I say at the the Okay, we can do that.
Speaker 2We went to the sphere. It was really fucking cool. Our seats were in the like. I was kind of telling you from what I, what I was able to gather is that we were going to be in a section that was not like part of a curve.
Speaker 1Yeah, so you were totally clear. Oh, I thought you were about to say it.
Speaker 2There was literally no motion sickness.
Speaker 1I was really worried about you.
Speaker 2I was like do you have enough medication. Do you need zoopran, do you? What do you mean? I was prepared, but didn't, absolutely did not need it.
Speaker 1That's good. The boys did amazing. The show was so good.
Speaker 2How did brian do? Brian did so great, but does he have autotune on his no honestly so I was listening for that. Like they were in such tight harmonies no, they, there was a backing track, like there was, like I could hear vocal support yeah, but they were singing live and brian held his own. There's one at one moment where he, like, squeaked out yeah but it was not like a pivotal brian moment do you think he's backstage getting like shots before?
Speaker 2I don't know he's definitely has to, has to have some sort of a very extensive, extensive warm-up routine. Yeah, because then. So we went to the after party after it after and we were in the um like friends and family section. We didn't know, we just thought it was going to be like an after party and it was at one of the clubs in the Venetian, and then found out when we got there that they actually they perform like a few songs and we were stage us.
Speaker 1Oh, did you get sweat on you.
Speaker 2So much sweat. No, but it was only three of the five, so Brian wasn't there and I hypothesize that he probably needs to rest his voice after the shows.
Speaker 1I feel like he's not speaking at all this whole run. Yeah, yeah. Like for real there, but like if you want to sound good at all, you are on rest. Then the moment you wake up in the morning until the show and then immediately after until the next day.
Speaker 2Exactly so he was not there.
Speaker 3It was just Howie um no.
Speaker 2Howie, kevin and Nick, and they did a little, a little show. It was so cute, it was great. And then we bounced out of there and went back to the hotel, ordered McDonald's, as one does.
Speaker 1Yum.
Backstreet Boys and Return to Vegas
Speaker 2And pass the F out. And woke up, got on a plane and here we are recording the podcast.
Speaker 1Bus, another bus plane.
Speaker 2Bus, another bus plane. It doesn't stop for Alex, but it was a really fun week.
Speaker 1It would have to stop for.
Speaker 2Alex and I do love Las Vegas.
Speaker 1I'm so happy for you.
Speaker 2Thank you. What'd you do this week?
Speaker 1Gosh, Um oh, so just a little update.
Speaker 2I gosh um oh, so just a little update.
Speaker 1I had my doctor's appointment, yes, on friday and it was really good, I learned that I just have anxiety. No, um, I mean, I do just have anxiety. Uh, all of my blood work was really good. Hell yeah, nothing like everything was in normal range, all the you know it's a normal blood panel like cholesterol and blood sugar and all that. I don't really know what it is. She went through it one by one with me. The only things were like I need, you know, a little bit more iron in my life and.
Speaker 1I need a little bit of B12, which is easy to do, Doable doable. Um, and I just had anxiety.
Speaker 2Did you cry out of relief when she was talking? Oh my God, yeah, I told her I knew it.
Speaker 1She had. Uh, there was like a someone in training there, I think it's like a new nurse practitioner, that is like coming onto the practice and they asked if I cared if she was in there and I was like no, but I'm probably going to cry. She was like that's fine.
Speaker 2Great.
Speaker 1Um, Um and I definitely cried out of relief and just feeling silly and whatever. So happy to report that I just have anxiety and panic attacks.
Speaker 2What a relief. She was like I'm going to refer you to a psychiatrist?
Speaker 1No, not for anything other than just like, uh, an medication like okay, yeah, yeah, just to like check dosages and make sure like all that is okay. She was like if you want to like take a deeper like anxiety test to see like yeah okay, more, learn more about it or whatever.
Speaker 1She was like, do that. But she's like I'm not sending you because I think you're crazy. It's just like adding someone to your care team that, like these medications, like is their specialty, basically. So there you go and then she talked about like when I would come back. She was like and if you want to come back and just chit chat, like we totally can? I was like I'm so happy to have a doctor that I actually like.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's really great, okay, good.
Speaker 1So that was that.
Speaker 2Great.
Speaker 1A bomb just went off outside.
Speaker 2It's okay, stan.
Speaker 1It's okay.
Speaker 2It's okay, bubba.
Speaker 1Had to dodge ball.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, sports corner. Sports corner Sports corner. You went to both.
Speaker 1Tuesday and Wednesday.
Speaker 2Oh my god, what a sporty girl.
Speaker 1Sporty girl. Our Lucille's balls were incredible.
Speaker 3Great.
Speaker 1Just killing it.
Speaker 2Amazing.
Speaker 1We won again. We play the same team next week.
Speaker 2As this week.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Back to back. Did less people sign up this season?
Speaker 1Maybe Back to back same team, the person that we both collectively dislike? Yep, still, just like, even more. I'll tell you off camera, like something that happened, but oh, I can't okay um, josh was able to be there this week, so we had a full team and we crushed it how's jake playing?
Speaker 2jake he's from buzzfeed. He's on your team.
Speaker 1He came with what does he look like white with? Like floppy hair yeah, sweetie he is a sweet yeah he's good, he like, I think he like threw his elbow out or something the first, and so he's um catching no, like he's still throwing, but I think he had to like learn, oh right, like what his limits are, yeah, but yeah, he's great, cool, sweet boy.
Speaker 1I think that I did um the one two weeks ago or something. He we were trying to find parking and I got lucky and found a spot and he was in the line of people still like trying to find and he like I was trying to walk in front of him and he didn't see me and I didn't know it was him and I made it like oh, gesture.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1And then I saw it was him and I was like, I was like I'm sorry. He's like no, it's totally fine. I wasn't paying attention. I was like I have to stop being like I just have road rage.
Speaker 2Yeah, I get it, I get it.
Speaker 1And that's it's allowed. Um, but other than that, I got really sunburned yesterday on my back. I went to oh, I went to the beach, okay to watch josh play. Angela came and met me and we, like, had a little beach moment and then also our dodgeball. A couple people from our dodgeball team were going to ginger Rogers, the gay spot on the beach.
Speaker 2Never heard of that.
Speaker 1Really, yeah. Yeah, you know how there's will Rogers beach and then right below it is ginger Rogers beach and that's like the fire Island of LA.
Speaker 2I had no idea that was here.
Speaker 1Oh wow, you should go. Lots of speedos.
Speaker 2Oh, I'm sure.
Speaker 1Um here, oh wow, you should go. Lots of speedos, oh, I'm sure. Um, I yeah. So sass was going to meet them and angela was with me and she was like I'm gonna go and I was like I'm definitely not going not again I don't want to it's.
Speaker 1It's like worse parking oh, over there where he plays is a really big parking lot that always has spots, so I'm not stressed about it. But more North on PCH, there's way less parking and I was like I'm not going to do it. And then Josh, uh, he had to go referee and he was like you should go and I was like, ah, I don't want to. And he was like you just don't want to go because you don't want to park. Like that's not a reason to not go somewhere.
Speaker 2I agree with him.
Speaker 1And I was like like it kind of is a reason. But I was like, fine, you made me feel bad, so I'll go. It took me 40 minutes to park. I ended up just parking at that, the lot that is more north at will rogers, and I had to do like a 15 minute walk to get to where they are because at that point you're like, well, I'm going to see this mission through.
Speaker 2Yeah, where was angela in all of this?
Speaker 1she had already made it there because she left like 20 minutes before. Okay, I and I had to like I hadn't eaten anything, so I was like I got something to eat. I use the restroom like not on the beach, because the beach restrooms are gross, yeah, yeah. So she had like a 20 minute head start on me, but she had to like run across the highway scary because she couldn't figure out how to get across. There are tunnels. I told her that. But then I was there for a few more hours chatting with a couple of the people from our team and I reapplied so many times.
Speaker 1But I just didn't really have someone to like rub in my back and my back got so burnt.
Speaker 2So I'm sorry about that. Yeah, that sucks.
Speaker 1But that was that and I feel like that's it.
Speaker 2Okay, big weeks all around.
Speaker 1Big weeks. I'm excited to get back into a routine Same.
Speaker 2I need it.
Speaker 3I need it.
Speaker 2I need a little recovery.
Speaker 1Some things that I wanted to talk about.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have something too.
Speaker 1Okay, you can go first.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, okay, I don't know if you saw this, so I was excited to read this In a not surprising at all very hilarious joke conclusion to our favorite con artist, billy McFarlane.
Speaker 1Oh yeah.
Speaker 2Did you see what happened?
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2He sold the fire. He sold fire, he sold fire he sold it okay um the fire festival brand on ebay for two to me for 245 000, that's okay, that's so cheap so cheap. So with that sale he sold the ip, all social media accounts and any past like everything from the past to like past ip yeah, um, for literally less than $300,000.
Speaker 1Why would he do that? All he has to do is actually plan a well thought out event and all he has to do is hire someone to do that. Clearly you can't do it, so hire someone who knows how to put on a music festival and actually put on. People are going to go cause they're curious about it. You can make it small the first time and just do it really well, and then people are going to be like, wow, look, what he turned it around, isn't?
Speaker 2that great a quarter of a million and he would have made that he would have made that so easily what he sold it for yeah like it's not that hard to just plan a decent event I know, but I was in shock, so heather thanks for the tip. She was like you need to look into. This is this real.
Speaker 1That's insane, it's real and do you think that he sold it to someone he's like in cahoots with and then they're gonna put on? Is that?
Speaker 2legal. He's a swindler, so who? Probably?
Speaker 1in legality doesn't mean anything to him, but like could he have sold it to someone? That's like a friend you maybe jaw rule why on ebay though?
Speaker 2because it's a scam. It's got to make it look legit.
Speaker 1Then they put on the event. He still has some sort of like stock or some like monetary part of it.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1And it actually is a good event, then he gets a kickback from that Do you think that is possible.
Speaker 3I don't know.
Speaker 1If that's the case, he could have sold it for way less.
Speaker 2Wow, by the way, he the rest of this says he owes 26 million in restitution to the victims of fire festivals.
Speaker 1So that doesn't even. Yeah, Just what I'm saying is put on a good event and in a couple of years you'll that will be paid back.
Speaker 2Literally just follow the lead of every.
Speaker 1And do it. Bankrupt superstar In America.
Speaker 2Correct.
Speaker 1Like quit trying to go do it in other places that you don't live right and use infrastructure that you don't understand. Have a two-day festival, yeah, at coachella valley in vegas, something put on, a good event with sufficient, you know, amenities or whatever you need make your money, and then it gets bigger the next year because, oh wait, they did it. Well, like next year. I'm going to check it out.
Speaker 2Should we plan a music festival?
Speaker 1I feel like we could have done it better than him.
Speaker 2We totally could.
Speaker 1Okay, let's do it. What's the theme?
Speaker 2What is the theme of our music festival? It's like it would be like somehow a mix of musical theater acts and oh my gosh, actually that's kind of a fun idea, that is fun a musical theater um I've seen that in new york what do you mean?
Speaker 1we're really. We're just people who are currently on broadway, like had like a day where they performed things. That's not the same thing, I no.
Speaker 2It's not totally what I'm thinking, but it would be like having like imagine a Gaga style performance with Christian Chenoweth and Idina Menzel singing Wicked songs?
Speaker 1Yeah, but they're not doing the show.
Speaker 2You know what I mean. They perform it like a concert.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2With like a live band and fucking dancers and shit, but it's them as like rock stars yeah all right this is gonna be our music festival okay musical theater.
Speaker 1They have to put in a lot more work than they are currently doing right now to do that correct, but they get paid a fuck ton right.
Speaker 2Who would be the headliner?
Speaker 1Hamilton.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 1No, honestly, I feel like Moulin Rouge or Six is good. Music-wise is good for that.
Speaker 2You got it? I think you got to come in with a big classic to be like Rent would be the headliner of the first year. Do you know what I mean?
Speaker 1Yeah, but those, those I feel like Moulin Rouge has like the most marketable songs, right.
Speaker 2Well, yeah, cause there's Britney Spears and yeah or yeah what's the other?
Speaker 1like pop one that is out.
Speaker 2Diamonds are a girl's best friend, oh from that movie, from that movie from the show.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, just a show that has popular music, right now and Juliet. And Juliet.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1One of those Cause it's like you're gonna be hearing songs that you're used to hearing on the radio, but it's it'll. It'll grab people who aren't like necessarily musical theater sure, but who's coming to this show?
Speaker 2who's coming to this festival? Musical theater nerds yeah and then in the campsites, instead of having like communal beanbags and stuff, we have little theaters where people can put on their own little shows for everyone in the campsites.
Speaker 1It's a theater kid's dream. What if it's half musical theater, half like millennial, um specific lore like Hillary Duff?
Speaker 2Ashley Simpson Okay, that's fun.
Speaker 1Um Jesse McCartney.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1You know what I mean.
Speaker 2Like half that, half of that vibe so, like the, the, like pop princesses and boy bands of the early 2000s, who are a little more obtainable than, say, in sync yes, backstreet boys, but like degrees, because who's coming to musical theater?
Speaker 1the girls and the gays. Who also likes hillary duff? And the girls and the girls and the Gays.
Speaker 2Who also likes Hilary Duff?
Speaker 1and the Girls and the Gays, the.
Speaker 2Girls and the Gays.
Speaker 1You're absolutely right, that's what it's called the Girls and the Gays.
Speaker 2The Girls and the Gays.
Speaker 1Don't steal it, you're actually thinking about it.
Speaker 2Maybe we could just do like a one night event first and like Maybe we team up with Ashley, whose event company is called Girls, Gays and Theys.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, and we actually Simpson and we throw a music festival. Oh my God, yeah, and we start small and then we get bigger.
Speaker 2Yes, we have one really impressive headliner, like someone that we could get right now for probably not a lot of money, but would also like work for. This would be someone like Rebecca black.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2You know what I mean. Um, yeah, you know what I mean and that's not a down point. Like Rebecca is opening For Katy Perry right now, but she would be someone that I think would be down. Yeah, she's for the Girls, gays and Nays, but then like, yeah, on like a nostalgic night.
Speaker 1It's like Raven-Symoné Can you imagine, you know how like Emo night started. I feel like I pictured this, the same.
Speaker 2Well, that's just djs playing the music we're talking artists performing yes okay, well, more on our girls, gays and they's music festival coming soon coming soon documentary.
Speaker 1I feel like we have to talk about the ceo cheating, oh my god, yeah, that also happened this week how wild does?
Speaker 2we had a big discussion about this because we saw this happen.
Speaker 1We like it happened during the gaga concert, so like oh it was hitting my tiktok like immediately as soon as I left the concert well, if you guys don't know, over the weekend at the coldplay concert the ceo of this company called astronomer I. I think they do something with ai it wasn't like a well-known company. He was caught on the like Jumbotron camera with his. He was like hugging from behind his like head of HR of the company.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1And he's married to someone else. So the camera pans to them on the Jumbotron and they both see it, realize it, and then they both hide. He like falls to the ground. She turns around to hide her face. One of their other coworkers is like laughing next to it and they're just like they've been exposed. The question is is was it on purpose? What I don't know.
Speaker 2No, I don't think it was on purpose.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2They, maybe they're. I mean they could have just leaned into. The thing is, we had a big discussion about this afterward Because it was like, wow, this is wild.
Speaker 1It is wild.
Speaker 2If they had done nothing and just like, continued to like, it never would have made the news.
Speaker 1It wouldn't have made the news, someone possibly could have recognized him.
Speaker 2Maybe, but he went two states over. They went to the show two states away. Yeah, which is so sketchy, which is why they thought they were probably safe show two states away, yeah, which is so sketchy, which is why they thought they were probably safe yeah but yeah, like the reaction is the reason they went viral, he could they could have been like oh yeah and then they would have moved on, because, like he even talks, do you hear, did they?
Speaker 1ever talk about it, like do you think that they talked about it? And they were like what, in the event that we accidentally were on the jumbotron?
Speaker 2I think they were so yeah why would you ever think that? Yeah going to a cold play concert. You would be shown on the jumbotron yeah, no right no, I've never been on a jumbotron ever let this be a lesson to you cheaters out there, or you would be cheaters yeah if you were considering it.
Speaker 1Look at what can happen okay, well, my favorite thing is that his like statement apology or whatever I didn't know, that anyone said anything.
Speaker 1It's like, totally like. I don't know if the word is gaslight, I don't know. I'm going to read it to you, read me. I want to acknowledge the moment that's been circulating online and the disappointment it's caused. What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake, playing out on a very public stage. I want to personally apologize to my wife, my family and my team at astronomer. You deserve better for me as a partner, as a father and as a leader. This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped to build.
Allison's Health Update and Sports Corner
Speaker 1I'm taking time to reflect, to take accountability and to figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I asked for privacy as I navigate this process. Get this. I also want to express how troubling it is that we should have been. What should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else's life into a spectacle. As a friend once saying lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you. That's what makes me think like it was on purpose, because what do you mean? I don't know. Like it feels like he's blaming.
Speaker 3Coldplay.
Speaker 1Chris Martin. And it's like Chris Martin outed me Like I don't know that's the vibe, it gets Like it's wild. That last statement, that like what was supposed? To be a private event turned into a spectacle and it's like just don't cheat. How about that?
Speaker 1period what I don't know it's like but I love all the reaction videos in the way that people the remakes yeah, there was like I don't know what sports event it was, but someone did the jumbotron and every single person that came up did the exact same thing. That they did, and it was funny that is funny, but I don't know. Oh, so since then he resigned oh, he did, okay, and she I didn't see that okay but usually the let like the employee underneath does not isn't affected no, because she can sue him for sexual harassment or whatever.
Speaker 1So the company tries that's kind of what happened with the try guys and stuff like she did not Cause if they fire her, then she has grounds for like retaliating and stuff. So I would assume she would leave on her own. But yeah, that's like that's why it's so. You aren't supposed to do that Right On top of cheating on someone else, like the relationships of hierarchy of companies, because the superior has so much power over the person underneath. And if then the company takes that person and, um, you know, disciplines them, then they can just be like, oh you, sexual harassment on you, wrongful termination on you, Like you retaliated against me on this, Like it's like a whole legal thing.
Speaker 2Right, really messy.
Speaker 1So that's a thing Totally Um. Another thing is you guys, big brother started.
Speaker 2I saw that.
Speaker 1And I just just. I know that you don't care, but I just need to tell you about the drama of the first week and it's that, this girl named ashley. Yeah, she took an hour and a half shower. What? And everyone was mad at?
Speaker 2her. I would be mad at her actually so okay.
Speaker 1So you know, there's a head of household right, yes, yes and they have a private shower and bathroom. Yeah well, after the first night, like there's so many people and they all want to take a shower because they've been up all day doing press in the morning, and then they get and they film the entrances Like it's a long day and so everyone was like taking showers. So he, the HOH, let people to use his shower also so that it could like people could get in.
Speaker 1This girl was apparently in there for an hour and a half and everyone was like she's been up there a long time, right? And the CEO, the H-O-H, was like not going to sleep because he was waiting on her to be done for him to like brush his teeth and all that.
Speaker 1So he was like waiting up for her. And so everyone downstairs is like the time is going by and they're like, no way, she's still up there. It's like it's been 45 minutes, it's been an hour and they're like this is crazy. She's been up there, so she comes back down and they're all like where have you been? She's like, oh, I had the best shower.
Speaker 1And they're like yeah, no shit they're like oh, oh, cool or whatever. Like is like what's his name? Like did he, did he get to shower before you? And she was like no, I think he's like doing it now or whatever. She was like so oblivious to him and then the rest of the week they just used it against her. They were like she's gotta go like the shower gate, like we can't believe she did that so it's like she is in hot water for her long shower, and then I think she was in the shower again.
Speaker 1I think production did this on purpose yeah they had like a house meeting or something. That production called them in for something and they were everyone was there and they're like where's ashley? And someone was like I think she's still in the shower.
Speaker 3Production 100 did that they could have waited until everyone was out of the shower before they called everyone in there.
Speaker 1It was like for sure, on purpose. So then they had to wait for her again to get out of the shower and put her clothes on, so that she could come to the living room to do whatever they needed to do.
Speaker 2Oh my God, yeah, they did. So, like the drama is not of the game, it's just of Ashley and her long I love that and I wouldn't have much to catch up on and I have missed big brother last couple of years.
Speaker 1You wouldn't have much. No, there's like four episodes right now.
Speaker 2It's not like a love Island commitment, jesus.
Speaker 1No, three nights a week. Yeah, you can watch.
Speaker 2I get into that.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 3We do have a speak pipe and ask about birthdays. Firstly, I heard you guys talking about hayley's birthday and how it is in the middle of summer for you guys and I find it very funny, as my birthday is this weekend and I've always had my birthday in winter. I'm just wondering if this messes with your heads as well, uh. Second, how do you guys find celebrating your birthdays as adults? I don't fully know how to celebrate or if I should celebrate at all. I need some advice to making it a day I won't look back on and hate. And lastly, for a quick uni update, I'm doing fairly well with my results. I'm trying to balance everything with the advice you guys gave me. Oh, yeah.
Speaker 3Thank you, love the podcast. Have a great time.
Speaker 2Oh Emily, happy birthday. Happy birthday time. Oh Emily, happy birthday.
Speaker 1Happy birthday.
Speaker 2Thank you for listening. You're the best and, I'm glad, uni's going well.
Speaker 3I love an excuse to say uni.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm obviously not surprised you're crushing it. So congratulations and happy birthday. Okay. So yes, I'm living in LA now. First question was like does it mess with my head? It does, in the sense of like growing up in Indiana. My birthday is in winter. And always I could never do the birthday party I wanted to. It was never what my siblings all got, because they all have summer birthdays Getting to go to the lake, go to the theme park or something.
Speaker 3I was Chuck.
Speaker 2E Cheese or Snowden at home. Same I was chucky cheese or snowed in at home. Yeah um, but now living in la I get to do summer ish activities for birthday which is cute.
Speaker 1What about you? I mean, yeah, march is still pretty cold it's like we both have had that it's like it can be a little bit warmer depending on the year, like some years it was like spring was happening a little earlier. So it wasn't like full snow or anything but I couldn't have, obviously like a pool party.
Speaker 2Well, no, and that is the thing right.
Speaker 1Yeah, but yeah, we would do.
Speaker 2you know, things like oh my God, my nipples out this whole time.
Speaker 1I can't see it, your hands.
Speaker 2Sorry you guys.
Speaker 1Um, we didn't really do like chucky cheese but like laser tag or yeah, indoor things. But I also wasn't a big birthday. I've never been a big birthday party person. It stresses me out. I'll just start going first, because I have a huge I have anxiety, as you know, and I have a problem with if I can't invite anyone I've ever met in my entire life.
Speaker 1Um, I'm I'm afraid someone's gonna be mad at me yes, and then, therefore, that gives me crippling anxiety and then I go you know what? I would just rather not do anything. Yeah, so I'm not the best to answer this, because that's not the healthiest thing to do. Correct? I got lucky last year. Was it last year or two years ago, two, two years ago that I, alex, was like do you want me to just plan something? And I was like that'd be great and then we had a wonderful time.
Speaker 2I was just thinking about that today actually.
Speaker 1Yeah. Because that place we went for dinner after the ship was so good, it was really good, and I like, and I was like what was the name of that place? It was such a good dinner. I would just have to look at the map, probably.
Speaker 1But um, and then last year josh planned something so I guess, if you know yourself and you have a friend that's willing to either plan for you or help you, then, um ask, lean on them a little bit, because I find it very stressful, and then I just don't want to do anything. But I, deep down, do want to do something, yes, so maybe that's like still childish of me, I guess, but I just like hate upsetting people, and so the thought of leaving someone out accidentally, or even on purpose, like gives me a lot of stress. So I will kick it off to someone that probably has a better thought process on it Not better, just maybe a little more evolved, just because I've given
Speaker 3this a lot of thought, so okay.
CEO Cheating Scandal and Big Brother Drama
Speaker 2So here everyone, emily listen up.
Speaker 3Buckle up.
Speaker 2I have gone through quite a range of emotions when it comes to planning our birthdays, because I had historically terrible birthdays growing up.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, you said that.
Speaker 2And was always always felt like an afterthought. My parents did great for my like, younger years, but then like being raised in a religious cult and not being able to get out much there's. There's not a lot going on in February with friends and whatnot. So I just remember, uh, in my like preteen teen and into my teens, being very like sad around my birthday. Then I moved to la my first birthday out here. I would turn 21 and I had new friends. I had two new friends, one that you know and one that, um, you don't know who doesn't live here anymore, and they gassed me up and made me think that they were. They had planned this surprise birthday party for me and I was so excited yeah, I was like, oh my god, this is so nice.
Speaker 2My girlfriend, rebecca charlene, flew into town and I was like I'm getting my first surprise party like this is so exciting. This is all I've ever wanted is for someone to like care enough to like put a party together for me yeah I'm given like information on where to go. We show, we show up. They blindfold me in the lobby of this apartment complex and I was like, oh my God, so exciting.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2They opened the doors to a party with maybe a hundred people, of which I knew four, and I was still even at that point like, wow, all of these people here for me. No, not a single person knew why they were there.
Speaker 1So did wow all these people here. For me, no, not a single person knew why they were there, so did. Was it just like? The initial? People were like this is this, and then everyone just started inviting randoms or was it ever initially like for you?
Speaker 2it was never for me. It was come to find out like they brought out a birthday cake that I thought looked kind of funny and then again it was like kind of playing into it. Then like girlfriend was like hey, I don't think that this party's for you.
Speaker 1I don't think I would ever say that to you.
Speaker 2Interesting. I think you might be right and of course it's not. I'm wearing rosary beads, a vest and a t-shirt.
Speaker 2That's not the reason it wasn't so later I find out when I get closer to this other person that you know, I find out that they the house where this was was at this random person I went to school with and they were having a house party and they were like, can we bring Alex and call it a surprise party for him? And they said, yes, the cake that they got out for me they stole from the lobby of the apartment complex that someone had left down there with like half of it cut and then just like cut off the rest. That said a name, so it just was. I remember it perfectly. It was like a fondant red velvet cake and said happy birthday.
Speaker 2Just we're like oh, someone cut into it already yeah that's so stupid and it had literally nothing to do with me. So I retrospectively felt shitty about that birthday.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2And then the next year for my birthday. Terrible, like I had this. I was always getting to my point here. I used to have a lot of expectation on my friends that, like I am so thoughtful when it comes to like thinking about what someone would want to do or get for their birthday and I used to be like why does no one else think like this?
Speaker 2but, it was a long journey to get to the road of down the road of like. Not everyone thinks like me and that doesn't mean that they like me less it's just not everyone is a thinker like that.
Speaker 1I still struggle with that sure, sure, yeah.
Speaker 2But then after having a really terrible 25th birthday, where it was? I chose the place, which was Palm Springs, but then my boyfriend and ex friend at the time like through this party for me, that that like really showed me they'd have no idea who I am and like trying to tell me like this is your favorite thing and it's like, oh, you just don't know me. So after that birthday I decided no more letting anyone plan my birthdays. I was just like absolutely never again.
Speaker 2I will just do exactly what I want to do and remove the expectation from anyone Cause it's like ultimately, on your birthday, you want to be around the people that you know love you for who you are and that you get to do something fun.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So I was like fuck it, I'm just going to always plan that. So my 26th birthday on no-transcript? I'm just like, no, it's okay. I, I know. I, I want to be able to curate it because, similarly to you, I'm also always like, no, I'm not going to think about that, it's, this, is what I'm doing for me.
Speaker 3Come and be there.
Speaker 2I want you to be there and that is my advice into your adulthood. If you care about birthdays, cause some people just don't. Some people get to a point where they're like yeah but I love celebrating my birthday but not because it's like I want this to be about like show mutual appreciation for having each other in your life, and that's why I love birthdays so much for myself and my friends.
Speaker 1Yeah, I do. I'm going to try to challenge myself at this coming birthday to actually not give into my stress and do something and invite the people that you know yes, I challenge you to be like what do I really want to do? It's this but that also is just a part of me, like I don't know. I don't know what I want.
Speaker 2I can help with that part like if you were, like I'm indecisive my birthday's on this day I want to celebrate it on this day. What can we do?
Speaker 1happy to do that, I also like being out here is I'm so annoyed by the birthday culture. I saw a girl make a tick talk about this where she was like this is my worst day I'm planning. I'm planning my day from hell and like she was telling it and part of it in LA and part of it included um, going to a birthday party at catch LA where I only order one singular drink and no food and I am forced to split the bill evenly with people who have had seven drinks and ordered like all this stuff, because that is what it's.
Speaker 1That actually is what happens and it's so annoying and I'm like I don't want to make people pay a bunch of money to like celebrate my birthday Again.
Speaker 2I say to that like let's say you want to do it a catch right, and you were like I am not expecting anyone to pay for me, everyone will just pay for themselves, like you set the expectation.
Birthday Advice and Celebrations
Speaker 1What I've learned is, if you're going to do something for your birthday, you have a hard line of if you order a drink, you order it at the bar.
Speaker 2Oh, correct, do not add to someone's tab.
Speaker 1Do not order this at this table. You get your butt up and you order it at the bar and you pay for it yourself at the bar.
Speaker 2If that is something you want to do, I think that's totally yeah, I think that's good and I'm going to tell.
Speaker 1I'm going to tell the waiters.
Speaker 2Yeah. I'm going to say don't accept if someone tries to order a drink% there planning your birthday. I'm proud of you.
Speaker 1I don't want to go to catch, by the way. And then food wise is still a nightmare because everyone if there's a bunch of people, then it's like they don't want. They're not going to accept more than a couple of cards to pay. And then people are having to Venmo and it's like that's a nightmare.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1So really, I will just be probably going somewhere where everyone can order food and drinks.
Speaker 2Well, that's why we love what's that place. We love going Foreman's it's like Foreman's.
Speaker 1Foreman's Thirsty Merchant. Like those type of places.
Speaker 2It's like you, oh where we went for your birthday once, thirsty Merchant yeah.
Speaker 1It's like, and even have a gathering place where there's food and drinks, but everyone buys their own thing. And therefore, I cannot be stressed about people having one drink and having to pay like $175.
Speaker 2You could also take a note for me the last two birthdays which have been, I'm going to Disneyland because I like Disneyland and I can go on my birthday yeah, Disneyland, because I like Disneyland. And I can go on my birthday yeah, if you have a pass and you can come.
Speaker 1Great If you want to buy a ticket do it. And if not?
Speaker 2this is what I'm doing. Yeah, give me a high five.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think that that is a good thing, disney and a bar. Disney and a bar. That's a t-shirt.
Speaker 2Disney and a bar.
Speaker 1I can picture it now for so long actually not that long, but I'll just go through the birthdays for tomorrow, which is july 21st. Well, today, yeah, oh rip robin williams oh, how old would he have been 1951 is when he was born. I can't do math. Okay, it's for everyone out there to do their own math. Speaking of hamilton, jasmine cephas, jones cephas I don't know how to spell say that, but she played. Oh, peggy.
Speaker 2Oh yeah.
Speaker 1And the original cast. She's 36. Rory Culkin is 36. Josh Hartnett is 47.
Speaker 2Hmm, Honestly younger than I thought.
Speaker 1Hmm, juno Temple, she plays, you know her Yep. Well, for the people who don't know her, she plays keely on ted lasso oh, yeah, yeah she's 36. What else is she in? Yellowstone oh, all right, my friend kyle hanagami is 39, he's a choreographer he's 39 kyle.
Speaker 2You look great chrishell Strauss.
Speaker 1She is from. She's on Traders but she's also from Selling Sunset.
Speaker 2Oh, chrishell yeah. Yeah, not Trischel, chrishell yeah.
Speaker 1She's 44.
Speaker 2Isn't she married? To that we always say this yes, she's married to Lil something Lesbian rapper.
Speaker 1Oh, are they married? I don't know, but yes, I do believe they're together in some way. Yeah, and that's it.
Speaker 2Happy birthday everyone.
Speaker 1Happy birthday. I have a game for us next time and some fun facts on some movies.
Speaker 2Okay, great.
Speaker 1I'll move that to the next docket.
Speaker 2Perfect.
Speaker 1But that's, all.
Speaker 2That's it. We didn't get to A-list of the week. Oh no, I have one. We'll do them really quick Now I've forgotten. Welcome back to A-list of the week. I don't really have much of a voice right now.
Speaker 1No, it just left me.
Speaker 2Well, while you're saying yours, I'll say mine, and without any surprise or shock from any of anyone listening or watching right now, my A list of the week is Las Vegas. So I really think you if, like I love Vegas, I would go every month. Yep, that's all I have to say. Go to Vegas if you can.
Speaker 1Every month.
Speaker 2I just love it so much.
Speaker 1I don't know about that. I love Vegas If you went every month, you'd get sick of it.
Speaker 2There's so much to do, and like there's so much to do.
Speaker 1Would you get sick of sitting in a cabana every day? Yeah, but traveling there. There's so many people it's a lot. If you were in a cabana here.
Speaker 2Okay, how about once every 90 days? And by once I mean one trip, not one day, yeah All right, sure, I don't know.
Speaker 1I've only been there for again a night. Okay, I'm been there for again a night. Okay, I, I'm so mad I thought about it popped into my head and now it is gone. Allison, I'm so mad. I'm so mad. It was good.
Speaker 2I don't know, I don't know all right.
Speaker 1Well, you guys, I don't have any list of the week, and I'm sorry that's okay.
Speaker 2Well, you can hit him with two next week maybe all right.
Speaker 1well, right Well thanks for listening. Thanks for watching, thanks for listening and we'll see you next time.
Speaker 3Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye.
