Acknowledging A Heavy Moment

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so there's obviously a lot uh going on in this country right now, and Allison and I um got together and wrote something that I'm gonna read now before we get started. We want to take a moment to acknowledge what's happening in our country right now. There's a lot of fear, pain, and uncertainty, especially for people and families who are being directly impacted. Regardless of your political stance, seeing human beings treated in ways that are dehumanizing or unsafe is deeply uns deeply upsetting to us. We do not support this unjust BS that's happening. It didn't feel right to move forward without saying that. We're holding a lot of compassion for everyone affected, and we just want to name that before continuing.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the A-list podcast with Allison and Alex. I'm Allison, she's Alex.

SPEAKER_03

So I feel like we also need to hold a little bit of space right now for uh losing one of the greatest actresses of our time.

SPEAKER_00

That happened today, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So it is Monday. You're listening to this on a Monday, but we are recording on a Friday, and the beloved Catherine O'Hara has passed away, and it is really shocking. I guess like one of the greatest comedians of our time, one of the greatest actresses. I haven't searched to see if there's a cause yet. It probably won't find out.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, from the little I heard, she did have like this like condition where all of her organs were on the opposite side that they were supposed to be, like from birth or something. I don't know if that had to do with it, or if she just I can do a quick search just to see if there's any breaking news.

SPEAKER_03

It's sad for a number of reasons, but I will admit that like sorry if you guys can hear my ice maker. Yeah, I will admit that like I have secretly been holding out hope for a Shits Creek, a Shits Creek reunion. Same.

SPEAKER_00

I literally just said that.

SPEAKER_03

And I can't like obviously it would be they would probably find a funny way to talk about Moira's death.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But it just won't be the same without it wouldn't be the same without her.

SPEAKER_00

Honestly, yeah. I could see it would be very like not easy for them as people to shoot, but like a storyline, because like she could have some sort of hilarious memorial. Yeah, like she's written some sort of directive for her funeral that everyone must comply with, and you know, shenanigans, but whether they would actually want as actors and writers to do that, I don't know. Very sad.

SPEAKER_03

An icon, so many movie franchises and television, home alone, shit's creek, um most recently the studio, which is where I saw her at the premiere of.

SPEAKER_00

The studio, um Beetlejuice, Best in Show. Yeah, which I actually haven't seen in Everyone is like Nightmare Before Christmas. Oh.

SPEAKER_03

She's Sally.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Very sad. Um, and while we're on the topic, we'll just knock out all the other sad. We lost Miss Shirley over the this past weekend. Yes. Which was also shocking because she did so. Miss Shirley was famous on TikTok. If you don't know, she was this woman who completely made her her life was all about serving the unhoused. Like she uh would be in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles. She lived in Henderson, Nevada was where she lived, so she did work there as well. Got it. Um but like blew up on TikTok short during or shortly after the like 2020, 2021 time. Yeah, she was out there giving, constantly giving food, haircuts, yeah, supplies, and her videos often went viral because she was very funny. Yeah, but you did not mess with Miss Shirley. No, and if you did, she would, you know, you would pay for it. Yeah, a big loss in the uh service community for sure, and also her cause of death has not been revealed, but I did see that her daughter's the one that found her, which really stinks. So that's really sad.

SPEAKER_00

Um you were home for a funeral?

SPEAKER_03

I was home for a funeral.

SPEAKER_00

You have another funeral this tomorrow, yeah, or weekend.

SPEAKER_03

Just past week, yeah.

Personal Loss And Finding Levity

SPEAKER_00

So just like a heavy time, but and as we said at the beginning, a heavy time in the country, and it just is a lot. It is, but I think yeah, finding levity in and what yeah, like you can control like your status, I guess, and finding things that make you happy are uh paramount to like not going crazy and not feeling like the existential dreadful dread of everything.

SPEAKER_03

So hopefully this the rest of the show can be a little bright spot in all of the chaos, and but we definitely wanted to acknowledge those kind of sadder points because that is part of being human.

Big Bank Headaches And Zelle Reality

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. How do we segue from that like this? So I um well, I came in here just I barged in this. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

She came in guns up blazer.

SPEAKER_00

Because everyone for the past five years has been bullying me to get a bank account out here, a big bank.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, she's saying this as if that's an outrageous request. She has a tiny credit union in Indiana.

SPEAKER_00

Well, my life was easier back then.

SPEAKER_03

There's no you can't Zell.

SPEAKER_00

I could not Zell, but I could use everything else. Venmo, PayPal. Everyone out here just loves to use Zell.

SPEAKER_03

They do, and I'll be honest, like that was an annoying thing for me to get on board with it.

SPEAKER_00

But now that I am, it's like what's the difference between Venmo and Zell?

SPEAKER_03

Well, Zell's directly connected to your bank account, so it's just like immediate.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Venmo, you have to then transfer it to your bank account. Okay, fine. But I was, I will say it again. I've been bullied by everyone. Fair. That's I understand that it was um practical. Practical. And I there were a few hiccups like when in moving to new places, like having to get cashier's checks and stuff. Like I had to go to a shared branch credit union.

SPEAKER_03

So not impossible, but definitely an extra step.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, so I finally opened one and it was like super annoying on one hand because I never got my debit card. Then I had to ask them, can you send it again? Yeah. So like I didn't have a debit card for this place for over a month, I feel like.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, which place?

SPEAKER_00

Bank of America.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I didn't even know you signed up that long ago.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I thought this happened like a few days ago.

SPEAKER_00

I can't believe I didn't tell you to write it away. But I just like one day I was just like, fine, I'm I'll do it because I well, okay. It was one of those, like if you um have this much in direct deposit, you get a bonus. And I was trying to do it before the end of the year because I like it doesn't matter with the fitness marshal, like because of everything, like we get a payout at the end of the year for like extra stuff of brandills and whatever. And I was trying to get it by that time, and I thought I set it up, and then that paycheck did not go to that bank account. So that was actually annoying because that is whatever. So then I had to like talk to my accountant and I had to do all these things, and the uh Caleb, we all have the kind of the same account. And so like we all three of us were going back and forth to make sure that my direct deposit was set up correctly, whatever. So that finally this one goes through. Okay. I got the debit card, didn't get the pen, had to again call them and have them send another PIN. It was crazy. Um and so today I I finally correctly got my direct deposit and I need to write my rent check for February. And because all of my money went there, but my checks are from my other bank.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I went to the yeah, I went to the teller and I was like, hey, can I transfer to another bank? Because I've transferred from my bank in Indiana to Bank of America just fine.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah.

Travel Ordeal And Airline Comparisons

SPEAKER_00

But I was like, hey, I need to transfer this amount of money to that so I can write my rent check. And the guy was like, I can't do that since it's not another Bank of America. And I was like, okay, why? And then he was like, Well, you can do a and then I was like, Can I get a check? And he was like, You can do a cashier's check or you can do a wire, but those cost$15 or$30. And I was like, This is a nightmare. Why did I get this bank account?

SPEAKER_03

Did you sign up for checks yet?

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_03

Because don't you need them for to pay your rent anyway?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I just like did not think that like I just in my mind I was like, I'll get the direct deposit, I'll transfer it to my other bank, and then I'll write my check. Like, I did not think it was gonna be like this big of an ordeal.

SPEAKER_03

I will say my ex has Bank of America and he also has run into very annoying issues like this. And I was voting for Wells Fargo, but didn't have any say in this because you did it without talking to me.

SPEAKER_00

So I did because I just like one day I was like, whatever, I'm doing it right now.

SPEAKER_03

And when it hit you, you just have to, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Because they did have the biggest bonus, I will say.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

So it kind of was I mean, yeah, that makes sense. But their website does suck, and now I'm mad at them for this.

SPEAKER_03

I am sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, thank you.

SPEAKER_03

I had a nightmare travel situation.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes, please.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm gonna make it quick so we can get on to pop culture. But basically, I was supposed to come home from being in Indiana on Wednesday. My flight was at 7 a.m., boarded at 6 30, so I was up at 4 30 to get to the Fort Wayne Airport. I was in, fine, sit in my seat. I get on this plane, and like just so you guys know, the Fort Wayne International Airport is tiny.

SPEAKER_00

Very tiny.

SPEAKER_03

Um, so you there's no such thing as direct flights from there. I think maybe to Florida. Um, American Airlines does.

SPEAKER_00

Allegiant.

SPEAKER_03

Allegiant, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which is scary.

SPEAKER_03

But um, so there was no, like it's always gonna be a connector. A tiny plane where it's like one seat and two seats, no first class or anything. It's all just you know, tiny to some big city. In this case, I was supposed to go to Chicago, O'Hare. And we get on the plane. I have never now listened I was there during sub-zero weather. Like the whole time I was there was negative something, it was insanely cold. But I've never gotten on a plane, and I again the hour was early, it was 6 a.m. Sorry, 6 30, but it was so cold. We could all see our breath. Sitting on the plane, we're like, we could see our breath. As soon as the last person's on, the captain comes on. Hey, have some bad news. Whatever their system is that detects ice was like malfunctioning. There was no ice on the plane, but it was still coming back negative, and therefore, also they couldn't make the heat work in the cabin. So he's like, This is our bad. We should have checked this before boarding the plane. Yeah, but we're gonna need you all to get your stuff and get off. So as I'm getting off the plane, I get a text from American that says, You've been rebooked. They rebooked me like this. This flight that I was currently on was pushed to 11 a.m. So they left me on that flight, but I would have missed my connecting flight from Chicago to Los Angeles. And so they gave me this same flight from 11 a.m. to Chicago, O'Hare, five-hour layover, then to Nashville, three-hour layover, then to LA, where I would land at 11:50 p.m., make giving me an almost 20-hour travel day.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_03

So I was like, absolutely not. Well, everyone was getting these texts, so the lineup at the gate was huge. So I got into the line, but thought maybe I can chat with them or call them in the meantime. Got on the phone, two hour wait. Tried to do it through the chat, two hour wait. So I waited. I get up there. Sorry, yeah, this is like the only option. Are there any other airports in around? I was like, Burbank, nothing. She was like, I can get you into Ontario, California at like it was like 6 p.m. I was like, that's like a two-hour drive. My car is parked at LAX. So what do you have for tomorrow? So they got me on the earliest flight the next day. Fine. It ended up being okay because my sister was had the day off, so she was able to pick me up. I got back to my parents by 10 a.m. I went to sleep because I'd only gotten two hours of sleep the night prior.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Had a fat nap, woke up. I got a lot of work done because it was like I had been staying at my sister's, so a lot of uncle time. This was just my my dad works from home, so it was just us two. I got a lot of work done. Then Caitlin's sister came over, hung out with me, and then mom, dad, sister, and I got to go to dinner, which was the night before my dad's birthday. So we kind of had a nice dinner.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's nice.

SPEAKER_03

And I got a lot of work done. So I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Where'd you go for dinner?

SPEAKER_03

A new speakeasy in Fort Warren.

SPEAKER_00

There's speakeasies in Indiana?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. And it was it was delicious. I had lobster ravioli and three diet cokes because I was three three diet cokes, three fridge cigarettes, had pops. Pops, yeah. Had some pop. Um, and it ended up being really nice. And then scheduled an Uber that picked me up. My next day flight wasn't until 12 30, which I prefer anyway, because then I can have a normal morning. Uber schedule got it, picked me up.$30 to go 22 miles. LA could never going to the airport here is like$130.

SPEAKER_00

That's true, yes. I do feel like the baseline to go anywhere is$30 now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I could go, the drive could be seven minutes.

Burbank Airspace Risks And Safety

SPEAKER_03

No, I agree. It's so long. Automatically$30. So, um, or so large. So get to the airport and I just I'm not an American Airlines person. Like I had to, it was the only option for getting home for this.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think I've been on one long time now. Is it bad?

SPEAKER_03

Bad. Like what's bad about it? So they rebooked me. I was at the counter now checking in. They were trying to charge me for my bag. I was like, I've already paid for this bag. You guys kicked me off the flight. I don't see that you paid for it. I was like, I had already checked in yesterday.

SPEAKER_00

Like, did you have a receipt for something?

SPEAKER_03

So I had a receipt, but I had to search through my email, and then she couldn't find the confirmation code wasn't showing up as paid. Just coming up, came up as an air.

SPEAKER_00

Shocked. Wow, yeah. I know.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, I was like, if I didn't pay for it,$40 is not something that I would sit here and argue about, but I already paid for this. Yeah. I know$35 because I did it before going to the ticket counter. Anyway, we figured out, well, the day prior, the kiosk was like, Would you like to check your carry-on for free? Because the planes are so small out of Fort Wayne. They make you gate check your carry-on anyway, but then you have to wait to get it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I knew I didn't want to do that because my layover in Texas was 35 minutes. So I was like, I'm not gonna have time to wait in a line to get my bag.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So I explained to her, hey, yesterday the kiosk, blah, blah, blah. Also, this woman happened to be the one that announced that that helped me at the counter the day before. So she remembered me. Got it. Another reason why I was like, You saw me yesterday. Like, why would I be able to do that?

SPEAKER_00

How would I be in the gay area if I didn't pay for the bag?

SPEAKER_03

Right. So you're gonna make me pay for it again? So she she like she was like, Well, that's only when you check in at the kiosk. And I said, Well, I tried to, but it's gave me an error. That's why I'm here. And she was like, So she had to go get approval to get it. I was but eventually I ended up being fine. I was like, I have a 30, like a less than a 45-minute layover in Texas. I can't. And I looked at the map, by the way, it was a 25-minute walk.

SPEAKER_00

Is it DFW?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. 25-minute uh travel to get from the gate where I was gonna be at to my connecting flight. So I was literally gonna get there as boarding. It all we get on the plane. First of all, they're one good thing American does is they give you the full can of pop. Whatever you drink you get, you get the full can. Yeah. They do not have TVs, and the other only good thing is they have full free internet. So it's not like Southwest, you know, is like just texting Delta is oh Delta's free internet, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

For ATT.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's right. Yes. But it's free, like high speed or so I was able to catch up on traders, and that was nice.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, good, good, good. Well, I'm not I don't have last night's.

SPEAKER_03

I haven't watched last night, sorry. I'm caught up up to yesterday. So um, but like cookies or pretzels, could I have both? No, one or the other. Are you kidding me? Two biscoff cookies and some pretzels because I didn't have time to get food because everything was so rushed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No, you can have one or the other. Anyway, I just like not great. Oh not great. But I made it back to LA finally.

SPEAKER_00

No, you may not.

SPEAKER_03

When I landed in LA though, it was at five, so I didn't get home until 7 45.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But here I am.

SPEAKER_00

You flew into LAX.

SPEAKER_03

I flew into LAX. I learned something about Burbank that you can't fly out of Burbank until they figure that out.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you've also seen.

SPEAKER_03

Everyone has sent it to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Because you're the big like you're the biggest proponent. I mean, who isn't, I guess, but because you live right here also, it's like it's so correct. For me, since I moved west, it's kind of on a on a normal, like not rush hour time period, it's honestly like the same amount of time for me. 35 to 45 minutes to LAX and then around 30 to 35 to Burbank. So it's not like a huge huge difference for me. Yeah. But for you. For me, it's okay. So sorry if you guys don't know. Burbank has been named as a like very high risk for collision of planes. Um basically because we have two like small airports that private planes fly out of constantly. And um, it's the Van Nuys Airport and what's the other one?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. There's another small one.

SPEAKER_03

And it's like the Van Nuys Airport is so close to Burbank. Like, yeah, sometimes it I they look like they could be connected almost.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Which I don't know why someone did that. Whatever. But basically, because there's constantly private jets, because everyone here has a private jet, I guess, and helicopters and all that.

BTS Tickets, Pricing Power, And Tours

SPEAKER_03

The jet suite flies out of there too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. That the the takeoff and the landing is like very precarious on collisions. And because recently there have been some plane collisions in other places and people were looking into it, Burbank was named as like the like highest risk.

SPEAKER_03

And also the one time I've had like a scary plane thing was because of an almost collision in Burbank.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

We touched down and immediately took off, and everyone on the plane was like, Yeah. It was quiet till we were in the air, and the captain was like, So sorry, we were about to have a collision with another plane. So we pulled back up and we're circling.

SPEAKER_00

It's just been open for so long.

SPEAKER_03

How have they not figured out I just when we were editing yesterday in LAX, I was looking out the window and just you could see the lights of all the other planes coming in? It's like it must just be like a constant wild. So yeah, we need to make sure we need to wait till that emergency level goes down, I think, before I comfortably fly.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think they're gonna they actually care?

SPEAKER_03

Well, no.

SPEAKER_00

They do definitely don't.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely not.

SPEAKER_00

Um well, speaking of hometown news, I guess, before we get into other things, I have found myself on um like North Hollywood High School's TikTok.

SPEAKER_03

Like the children?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so there's these girls that call themselves No Ho Fashion. And they basically just like talk to one of their students, like their friends, and they're like, What are you wearing today? And first of all, they love to thrift the kids. Oh, okay. What is high school? Are they Jenny? They're so Gen Z.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Every time it's like, I got this from Wasteland. Crossroads, I got I borrowed this from my older sister, I got this from I thrifted this, blah blah blah. And it's like, all right, pop off. Honestly, yeah, sustainability. Yeah, like needed. But they're beefing with another account that does the same thing called No Ho Fits.

SPEAKER_03

It does sound like a ripoff.

SPEAKER_00

Beefing. And this first video I saw, they were like, hey, we're no ho fashion where we're gonna be um reviewing our um other students' fashion and telling you what they're wearing every day, blah, blah, blah. And then someone they were like, in the video, they were also like, one of the girls said, Um, do you think someone's gonna have a problem with us doing this? Like they rehearse this. And the other girls, well, if they the other girl goes, well, if they do, that's their problem. Like something like that, very sassy. And then in the comments, someone was like, Wow, beefing with No Ho Fits or something. And I was like, Oh my gosh, I found myself amidst some teen drama drama.

SPEAKER_03

So is No Ho Fits also at North Hollywood High School?

SPEAKER_00

I believe so. No Ho Fits, they don't talk in their video, they just like record people. And the girl in the No Ho Fashion one was like, Well, we're we're gonna be doing more than just three second videos. Oh my gosh. That seems like a direct hit.

SPEAKER_03

It is.

SPEAKER_00

Well, is No Ho Fits They just have music and they do, they they record like five people at a time, and it'll it will be like three seconds of each person, and they just they must just say pose for the picture, and then the person will like pose and smile, whatever, and then it goes to the next person. But what is it?

SPEAKER_03

Does it say what they're wearing, or it's literally just showing them?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's just showing them. It's like inspo. It's inspo.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like it's different, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But same school, like they're trying to pop off on TikTok, and now they're you're splitting the audience, you know?

Traitors Recap: Strategy And Missteps

SPEAKER_03

It is drama. I think they're two different things. I love it. No ho fit. Like, hey, we like what you guys are doing. We're gonna just so you know, we're doing something. I'm talking about high school kids.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no one would do that. We're gonna do that. So I don't know. I thought that was so funny that I've just found myself. I follow No Ho Fashion, so little do they so that's your bias. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Speaking of bias, you got BTS tickets.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, you guys, yeah. I uh I can't believe I first were you shocked, shocked because I and like the section you guys.

SPEAKER_03

Is so much better than the ones you got last time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So I actually didn't rem know that the everything was going on sale that day. I signed up and paid like$20 to be in the Army like membership presale. I don't feel like I ever got a notification to do that because it was the day before the presale was. So I don't know. Maybe I got maybe I got lucky because I didn't do pre-sale. Oh, interesting. And they held back tickets for regular people. And maybe I just got lucky that way. Because the last time I tried to get tickets, I mean we did get them, but I was also the army presale then, and we got those terrible tickets. Seats. Um, and I didn't get to do that this time. So I got in the normal queue. I thought I was gonna have to wait 45 minutes again.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I went on a run because I was like, well, in 45 minutes, I'll be done with this run.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Like physical run or like an errand. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like actual running. And then I got the thing. It was like, okay, you're in the queue. And I was like, all right, I'm gonna, this is gonna be a while. It went so fast. It was probably like five minutes. Put me in. And then I was like, okay, in my mind, I was like, I'm probably not gonna get tickets because I'm gonna click on these and they're each gonna be like$500. And like I I can't afford this. And so in my mind, like I didn't have in like high hopes, and I was just like, if for some reason one high up again is like cheap, but it's not uh you know that high, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00

And I get in and it's like kind of all around, there's like groups of them, and it's a so-fi again, yeah. Lower down, they were like 180, and I was like, all right, I was like, all right, all right. Then I went to the next section and they was like 125, which is the one I got. I couldn't believe it. I was like, I have to do this.

SPEAKER_03

The dust has must must have settled on them a little bit right now because they were they've been so out of it for a second.

SPEAKER_00

No, people are so happy for them to be back. I think that they're just because I heard that Chapel Roan like put her foot down on ticket sales and was like, they cannot be more than a certain price. So apparently you can do that with Ticketmaster. You can say, I don't want them to go over this price, or I don't want dynamic pricing because sometimes it's higher. Yeah, you can apparently, as an artist, say, I don't want them to be more than this. Because everyone's mad at Harry Styles right now because his tickets are ten thousand dollars.

SPEAKER_03

That's some Taylor Swift shit.

SPEAKER_00

It's crazy. And like people are like, never mind, I don't care that you're back, Harry. I'm not doing that. Yeah, so I wonder if they also did that. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Who are you taking?

SPEAKER_00

Well, you are first on the list.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I wasn't sure. Happy to pay and go to the house.

SPEAKER_00

Josh was like, I was like, do you want to go? Because I don't know. I didn't, I was like, Yeah, yeah, I have to ask my wife first, even though I knew he was gonna say no, and he was like, Yeah, no. Happy to go. So you are no September?

SPEAKER_03

September, yeah, it's the end of the year.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Which I am kind of worried about when Reagan's wedding, like bachelorette or wedding shower and stuff is gonna be. But it's a Tuesday, so I feel like even if I were to go home, I feel like I'd be back on a Tuesday, you know?

SPEAKER_03

Well, that is very exciting.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's their opening night here. Amazing, which will be fun, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And also Hilary Duff announced a world tour. I we kind of thought it might be coming last night. She announced it world tour.

SPEAKER_00

Love.

SPEAKER_03

So hopefully. Hopefully, no, it's going to happen, has to happen.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So there's that. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And my throat just went didn't hear it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Um, we have because we recorded so early, I feel like we have not seen each other in so long, and there's just so many things, but like so many things that we could talk about in such depth. Right. So here's the thing. What I need to know from all of you listeners. Yes. Do we care about the Taylor Blake text? Do we care about the Justin Baldone? Whatever. Because if you do, then I think we can dedicate a large amount of time next episode to breaking that down more. But if you do not care, then I don't care to talk about it. Because it is, I'm getting quite fatigued.

SPEAKER_03

It is a lot, it's a lot.

SPEAKER_00

But there is like some we haven't talked about the Taylor text yet. Correct. There is just like, I feel like every other day, new things coming out. So, like, if you want to talk about it, I feel like maybe we just get some feedback and then if that's the case, then talk about it next time. Because my gosh. Yeah. Um, I we never talked about the heated rivalry, me finishing it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I wanted to give you my thoughts.

SPEAKER_03

Please do.

SPEAKER_00

I did the last episode did make me come around on the main characters, Ilya and Hudson, right?

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's his real name.

SPEAKER_00

What's his name? Chase. No. What? Hollander. Hollander.

SPEAKER_03

Hollander.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Which I think in real life, the one who plays Ilya, I think I like him more in real life than the other one.

SPEAKER_03

He has more of a personality. He does. And I think he's queer, so it's like very Yeah. Yeah, I like his personality a lot. Although Hudson just put out like a really hot photo shoot.

SPEAKER_00

With all the the kisses on him.

SPEAKER_03

No, a one that just came out the other day. It's like Jockstrap photo shoot.

SPEAKER_00

Love that.

SPEAKER_03

It's really great.

SPEAKER_00

But I yeah, I had a I cried. I had a great time. Josh called me right in the middle of me crying, and he was like, What's wrong? And I was like, It's the show. And he was like, Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

And we get the next batch of episodes so soon.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we do? Yeah, March. Bridgeton just started yesterday. I saw that. And I will say I'm annoyed that every new time they take two years to come out, and then every new season, someone's gone.

SPEAKER_03

Without explanation?

Ray J’s Health And Healthcare Limits

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, so the Duke from the first season and Daphne, they left after the first season. And now Jonathan Bailey, I don't think, is in this season.

SPEAKER_03

Was he in the last one?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh. Damn.

SPEAKER_00

If he is, maybe it's like for a short time. He's not on the poster.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that is true. He's not. You're right.

SPEAKER_00

And it's just like I'm I care less and less. She is. Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I don't care about it at all, so but I care that for you caring.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's talk about what our thoughts are on traders, even though we have we don't have the latest episode.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so in case there's spoilers for two like a week ago. Yeah. A week prior. Um I so I finally got to watch the full episode where Michael Rappaport like really goes for Colton. And that was like first of all, I don't think he meant it as I don't.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's Yeah, I think he's just like dumb.

SPEAKER_03

Dumb old dude. And like then I just had secondhand embarrassment for the way he was acting. The like way he was pointing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Colton colluding with Rob Rob's uh commiserating.

SPEAKER_03

Commiserating.

Grammy Predictions And Pop Culture Check-In

SPEAKER_00

He was like, that's not how you use the word. That was funny. Um yeah, I don't think he meant it either, but I think because especially because Natalie, like people who were on Survivor that witnessed the um Oh, yeah, yeah, with um basically on Survivor, like I don't know, probably 10 years now. Zeke. Yes. Zeke is a trans man that was on Survivor like forever ago, but he was not out. None of us knew no one knew. And it was like a season that was um returning players, and there was a returning player that was about to be voted out and he knew it. And as a last stitch effort in the tribal council, basically outed Zeke. Not basically fully. Oh, yes, out of Zeke, and was like, uh, you we all I know that you can keep a secret because you've been keeping this secret that you are trans. And it was like a I have chills now because it was such a crazy watching it live too. Everyone immediately starts crying and is yelling at him, and they're like, How could you do that? Was Natalie on that season? No, no, okay. How could you do that? Like that's the guy that outed him, by the way.

SPEAKER_03

We should say it was a gay, openly gay man. Yeah, openly gay man. He did. He he felt terrible, but he thought it was somehow okay because he's gay, which is bullshit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, immediately everyone's screaming, everyone's like, You like that's the worst thing you could have you can do, and you cross the line, and that's it doesn't have anything to do with the game. And they immediately like Jeff is like, we don't even need to have a boat, right? Like, he's out and everyone's like, Yeah, we want him out, and he just gets kicked off, basically. So I think that especially survivor players or people that watch that in the reality TV sphere. I think that it was like flashback to that and was immediately like, oh, we can't mess around with that, like yeah, yeah. And didn't even like saw red immediately. Yeah. So I do agree that I don't think it's what he meant, but I think because that has a is a precedent that has been set, yeah, that it's like, oh, yeah, see ya, basically.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, Colton was like, if you look at his when he brought he brought his hands up and they were like full shake, he was like in full shake.

SPEAKER_00

I will say that Colton at that round table, was he acting like I feel like in the breakfast in the morning, didn't he talk about coming out or something?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, he did. Or my I I wonder if they if like yeah, they purposefully edited that in there because of what happened at the end of the episode, but maybe they wouldn't have.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

There was like something at the beginning because Dorinda was like, You were on The Bachelor, and he was like, Yeah, yeah. She was like, So you thought you thought you were a heterosexual? You said I was convinced I was a heterosexual heterosexual for 29 years.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I don't know. There was like yeah, it was like a a thing like that.

SPEAKER_03

And I I think that was in the edit. I I feel like they wouldn't have kept that because I was like, because I knew it was coming, I was like, oh, they did this on purpose. Because like otherwise, it didn't have any context to the conversations that were having.

SPEAKER_00

It was like a strange conversation to throw in there.

SPEAKER_03

Now I know why. Yeah. Um, but I am really I'm annoyed at Colton's gameplay. I'm like, dude, you are two things can be true.

A‑List Of The Week And Closing

SPEAKER_00

I hated that for him. That was a very sad like moment for him to go through and all that, but he still stalked his ex-girlfriend and he still is really annoying in this game.

SPEAKER_03

And I really am so sad about Tiffany. I feel like that was so shitty, and um, I'm not, yeah, I'm like, Colton is so far off. Yeah, he's Michael was closer because he thought one of the hunks, and he was right.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But like I am so he is so has such conviction with what he's saying and what he thinks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I I know I feel like I know who's going next, but I don't know for sure because I haven't seen. Yeah. Um but like right now I'm really loving Dorinda.

SPEAKER_00

Like, I I don't know why I'm like really Except for I guess Dorinda was really mean to Ron. And Oh, that's true.

SPEAKER_03

That happened at that round table.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and he was like He was mean.

SPEAKER_03

I did not like what he said.

SPEAKER_00

Online, he was like, Do you think that's the only thing she said to me for me to pop off like that? Like they didn't play the whole thing. They said that she was like being really, like, really mean to him.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, because I was a little like Ron, calm down. He was like, I don't care about you, I don't care about your life.

SPEAKER_00

A lot of it, and she was like going crazy on me.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah. Well, let we'll see. But I'm also really liking Rob's gameplay.

SPEAKER_00

Rob's doing really well.

SPEAKER_03

He is doing really well. Uh Lisa, I am like kidding. No, she's gonna be the first traitor to go. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

She's really like, she's insane. Um she's not she's not thinking at all, and she's doing the cardinal sin of being a traitor, which is if you get accused, you immediately just accuse the person that accused you, and that is like the number one no-no to do.

SPEAKER_03

Um, what is the name Mo Mar Mara?

SPEAKER_00

Moira.

SPEAKER_03

Hard to listen to her talk.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she's I like her less on this show. She is like really fun on Love Island. Okay, yeah. As a host because you also don't like see that much of her.

SPEAKER_03

What do you think about that? Like it's such a strong Irish accent.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she's gorgeous. But she, I could do without. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Who is your who are you like really liking?

SPEAKER_00

Hmm. Yeah, I really like Rob. I think Candace. Yeah, as far as the traders go, I think Rob and Candice are doing well. I like I enjoy watching them as traders. The um faithfuls that I enjoy watching are um Kristen.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. Kristen's doing it. I'm can a drag queen please make it more than five weeks?

SPEAKER_00

Well, someone I was listening to someone talk about it, and they were like, it needs to be a rule that there has to be two drag queens in because they have everyone else is coming from such a reality TV background where there's at least a handful of survivor, even if they didn't play together on Survivor, they're immediately gonna be like looking out for each other. There's always multiple housewives skaters, there's also always multiple big brother or whatever, and there's only ever been like one drag race person.

SPEAKER_03

So they at least need to start putting two, I agree, so that they can have Monet was doing so well, like I would have but said Lisa as soon as I was I was like, oh, they're gonna kill Monet. Like he said Lisa, and that is also that when you're a traitor, if you're sticking together and you hear someone's name, you go for them.

SPEAKER_00

Which is why Britney Haynes did so well last season because she knew that what's her name was a traitor, but she did not say a word.

SPEAKER_03

She knew that what is her name?

SPEAKER_00

Why am I having such a hard time?

SPEAKER_03

She's from Big Brother.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's on the top of the tongue. No, the other one. What is the why can't I just crazy? Danielle. Danielle, she knew Danielle was a traitor, and she was like, either I can get to the end and I can just vote against her, or she's going to recruit me. Yeah. So just keep my mouth shut on that and just because it's like the enemy you know. It's like if you if you're like so sure that that person is, keep it to yourself for as long as you can until the end of the game, and then try to either jump on if everyone's accusing that person, then just be like, great, I can vote them out now at this round table. Or if you get to the end, you can be like, okay, voting you out. Yeah. I don't know. That was a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, I've been really enjoying I'm enjoying it.

SPEAKER_00

I love it. It's the best.

SPEAKER_03

Loving Alan's fits, especially the murder sparkle sweater.

SPEAKER_00

Although I will say, no shade. I love the risks that he's taking, but for some reason I feel like this season everything looks a little less expensive.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, that is true. That sweater, I was like, it's cute. I like that it says murder, but it looked ironed on.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like the budget for his costumes has gone down, and someone's just kind of like crafting.

SPEAKER_03

I wonder if like it's just a new dresser this year or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think the last couple of seasons, it's his outfits have looked so luxurious and rich and expensive. And now it kind of seems not.

SPEAKER_03

It also seems a little gayer now.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I'm allowed to say that, guys, I'm gay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that is true. I do maybe it is like a new designer.

SPEAKER_03

It's less like structured pieces and seems more like flamboyant.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but but you can be flamboyant and still look expensive. Because it's like he's like the gag, or not the gag, but like the storyline is this is my castle and my blah blah blah. And it's like, well, you don't look like you live here. Right. That's true. You're right. So I don't know. What else do you got?

SPEAKER_03

The only other thing I wanted to talk about pop culture-wise, really, is did you see Ray J's announcement?

SPEAKER_00

No, I thought you were gonna say um Grammy. Something about Grammys? That actually they're to they're this weekend, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. No, the show?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Or Oscars. Is something this weekend?

SPEAKER_03

Maybe the Oscars, but Grammys are haven't even been announced yet, I don't think.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe it's the Oscars. No, it's too soon for the Oscars. While you look that up, here's what I'm gonna say. Ray J. If you don't know, Ray J is brother of Brandy. Infamously the counterpart to Kim Kardashian and her famous intercourse tape. So intercourse tape.

SPEAKER_00

Intercourse tape?

SPEAKER_03

He has his heart is operating at 25%.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

And he went on live and was basically like, yeah, 2027, I'm out of here. Like I'm not gonna make it. Too much Adderall and alcohol, and that's a testament. His friend is like in the video being like, No way, man, you're gonna pull through, you're gonna see your kids grow up. And he's like, Nah, I mean, like I I think I blew it.

SPEAKER_00

So it's apparently So they haven't given him that timeline, he just feels like now.

SPEAKER_03

Knowing what I know about heart failure, there are medications. So what I actually have learned a lot about heart failure recently because I have a family member that's dealing with it. Heart failure is similar to dogs or cats, it is like a death sentence, so to speak, but like you can put you can go on medications that can prolong it, but no medication will cure it, and no medication will work forever because your body starts to reject it. So it's a game of finding the medication that will work, and then you're lucky if it works, but then it's got like a year to two year max. And so, depending on the severity of the heart failure, and if someone listening knows more than me, please write in.

SPEAKER_00

This is congestive heart failure. Is there a different kind?

SPEAKER_03

Don't know anything about that.

SPEAKER_00

Because that means like fluid, right?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Don't know.

SPEAKER_03

But um he said the last thing he said was like he has an appointment the next day, but that was the what the doctor's consensus was. So because you can't guarantee a medication work, my family member that's going through this, they didn't think they were like they had tried stuff and it didn't work, so they were kind of like preparing them for the worst.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And then they did find a medication that worked and it just recently stopped working. So now they're back to the drawing board, and if they can't, then it is whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Do you go to then trying other medications again?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they try a bunch. Like they will start trying things to see if anything improves the and a transplant isn't feasible? I think yes. It's just like the list is so long.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And like where do you fall on the priority list and what did you do with your lifestyle that maybe caused it?

SPEAKER_00

Right. As we know, insurance literally. Yeah. What I've learned about insurance is that they just have a chart and they go, mm, where do you fall on the chart? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I guess you're under it. Your number on a graph. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry, they don't like it. There's no nuance. It's like, do you fit this criteria? No. Okay, bye. But that might not be breaking news, but to me it was.

SPEAKER_03

I was so I'm sad about that because he has young kids.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He also thanked Brandy, who'd been pay who's been paying his medical bills. Sweet girl. And then I couldn't get ah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. The Grammys are in two days and two hours and 59 minutes and 25 seconds.

SPEAKER_03

A Grammy Awards?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Hi, Alex musician here, knows none of that. They're on Sunday. Well, if I'm not, depending on my how I'm feeling, I'll maybe watch.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so we can have a um Justin Bieber's performing.

SPEAKER_03

Justin Bieber's performing? Justice, yeah. Justice Beaver, bring it on.

SPEAKER_00

So I thought maybe we could just make a prediction. I know we already talked about the Grammys when they were announced forever ago.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that is why it's been so long since they announced that. Yes, you're right.

SPEAKER_00

Let's just make a prediction on the big awards, and then we'll see. Uh and we'll try to record as soon as we can, even though it won't come out for the next year.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I have to respond to a text. Why are they always on the second?

SPEAKER_00

For sure. Okay, let's just say who we think's gonna win like the best whatever. Okay, let's just go. What's the top award?

SPEAKER_03

Album of the year.

SPEAKER_00

Album of the year. Where do I find the nominations?

SPEAKER_03

And the Grammy goes to Grammy.

SPEAKER_00

Grammy nominees list. What that's an ad. Why did I click on that? What? There's a pop-up.

SPEAKER_03

What the hell?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Album of the year. Justin Bieber, Swag, Lady Gaga Mayhem, Kendrick Lamar, G and X, Leon Thomas the Third, Mutt, Tyler the Creator, Chromacopia, Sabrina Carpenter, Man's Best Friend, Burrell Williams, Let God Sort Him Out, and Bad Bunny. Something in Spanish. Debbie Tirarmas Fotos.

SPEAKER_03

I think it's probably gonna go to Kendrick.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. I also think that, but I have not heard anyone say that. But here's the only thing I think maybe not. Not like us was last year, right? Correct. Because his big song on this year is Luther. Yes. And I feel like Not Like Us was bigger. Way bigger. So that's the only thing.

SPEAKER_03

That's just because he performed it at the Super Bowl, though. That's why I think it was so big. And then everyone did that dance on TikTok.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think there's a chance. No, I don't think Gaga will win album, but she'll win something because Die with a Smile is the number one song in the world.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I think it could be. I think it's between Sabrina Bad Bunny and Kendrick.

SPEAKER_03

Taylor got no noms.

SPEAKER_00

No, she's not gonna be there.

SPEAKER_03

That's so strange. It made it, it made the cutoff, too. Life of a showgirl.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Interesting.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I think Kendrick.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say Sabrina. Even though I also do think Kendrick.

SPEAKER_03

It's gonna be Kendrick.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Which is good.

SPEAKER_03

Or maybe Tyler. He he's it's been a while since he's put something out.

SPEAKER_00

Best New Artist, Olivia Dean, Alex Warren, Lola Young, Addison Ray, Leon Thomas III, Cat's Eye, The Maria's, Somber.

SPEAKER_03

Olivia.

SPEAKER_00

I think maybe Alex.

SPEAKER_03

You think? I think it'll be Olivia Dean.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know any songs by Olivia Dean.

SPEAKER_03

There's a huge one on TikTok. I love it so much.

SPEAKER_02

It's like making up a lost time. Need you to spell it out for me? Talk to me, talk to me. Be the man that I need, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Never heard that in my life.

SPEAKER_03

You have. I think you used it.

SPEAKER_00

Lily Young could be in it.

SPEAKER_03

That's true. You used a sound in one of your videos.

SPEAKER_00

That doesn't mean I know the song. I don't know. I think Alex sworn.

SPEAKER_03

You think Alex, I think Olivia.

SPEAKER_00

Song DTMF, Bad Bunny, Man Child, Sabrina Carpenter, Golden. That's gonna win. 100%. Anxiety, Dochi, Abercadabra, Lady Gaga, Billy Eilish, Wildflower, Luther, Kendrick Lamar, Apata, Rose. This is a good category. It is Rose.

SPEAKER_03

But Rose and I have the same birthday. I just learned.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Um do I mean Sugar from BTS?

SPEAKER_03

Yes. You do.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's going to be golden.

SPEAKER_03

I do too.

SPEAKER_00

And I want it to be golden.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because they're so cute. And I just want them to go on tour.

SPEAKER_03

I love it.

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay, let's just do the next one. The last one we'll do is record of the year. Which we last year we can't go over it again. You're gonna have to go back. Yes. DTMF, Bad Bunny, Man Child, Serena Carpenter, Luther, Kendrick Lamar, The Subway, Chapel Roan, Abercadabra, Lady Gaga, Wildflower, Billy Eilish, Anxiety, Dochi, Apata, Rose. This is what I think Lady Gaga is gonna win.

SPEAKER_03

I can see that.

unknown

My anxiety.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I would love to see Docci win. She slayed last Grammys now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Last year was her year. Okay, so we'll see. It will be a week late when you get our thoughts, but unfortunately, everything is always on a Sunday, and we release on a Monday.

SPEAKER_01

True.

SPEAKER_00

All right. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um, it's time for A-list of the week.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Spoken word this day.

SPEAKER_00

I have an A-list of the week, but it is has a caveat.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, well. So it's an A minus.

SPEAKER_00

My stomach is crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Hungry for some snacks.

SPEAKER_00

I am hungry. My first one is. Did I say this last week? Gosh, I never know.

SPEAKER_03

Thanksgiving dinner.

SPEAKER_00

Um, a night of the seven kingdoms.

SPEAKER_03

No, you just talked about that. You started watching it. I you went to the premiere with Caleb. Yeah. That's what you said last time.

SPEAKER_00

Stand by that. Still love it.

SPEAKER_03

Still went there.

SPEAKER_00

But Josh and I watched all of episode one of the show hijacked on Apple TV.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'm curious about that one.

SPEAKER_00

And I will say, overall, it was a very compelling show. Okay. And it did get it made me stressed out in a good way as it should. I will say, first, first episode, last episode, great.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

In the middle, we kind of got a little, there was just like some plot holes. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That it's like if you aren't really thinking too critically about like things that are possible to be happening on this hijacked plane.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Then like you might not cat catch them, I guess. But there was just like some plot holes that we were like, what? Or this person said this thing last episode that completely contradicts that thing. Like things like that. But overall, like it was, I think it was a good job. So we'll see what season two brings. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

You had two, you said.

SPEAKER_00

That was it. And out of the seven kingdoms.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, right. Got it.

SPEAKER_00

And that.

SPEAKER_03

Mine is Delta Airlines. Forget Southwest, forget Spirit in America.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, yeah. Get a Delta card.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it's so nice. Delta is just superior. They're not always the cheapest, but you will have a good flight.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And like anytime I've had a problem with a flight or an issue, they I get some some money or credit. They never fight you on it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They give you money if your or credits if your bag isn't there in 20 minutes.

SPEAKER_03

They are one of your flight.

SPEAKER_00

Good things I did is get a get the Delta Miles credit card.

SPEAKER_03

There you go. That was a smart choice.

SPEAKER_00

That was a smart choice. And that's Bank of America, you're on my list.

SPEAKER_03

For now.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, thank you guys so much for watching, listening, commenting, sharing, supporting, loving. Subscribing.

SPEAKER_03

Cheering on.

SPEAKER_00

All the things. We love you so much. And we will see you next week, same time, same place.

SPEAKER_03

That's right. That's right, Allison. We sure will. Yeah. Bye, everyone.

SPEAKER_00

Bye.
