Rooftop Birthday Highs

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the A-list podcast with Allison and Alex. I'm Allison. He's Alex. And his birthday was yesterday.

SPEAKER_04

Yesterday was my birthday. We're recording this on the 12th of February.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

They get it.

SPEAKER_00

They get it.

SPEAKER_04

Um, so my birthday was yesterday. And let's recap. I had a party on the at the rooftop. It's called Yucca. It's called Yucca. It's like uh the new rooftop of the Delphi Hotel downtown Los Angeles. It used to be the legendary Standard Hotel.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I heard someone talking about that, and I've heard people talk about the Standard Hotel. What was so legendary about it?

SPEAKER_04

They had epic pool parties. They were really known for their like oh, okay. And there were I had gone to a couple pool parties there, and it was like this iconic, the rooftop was red, and it was just kind of this like iconic space.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well if it wasn't on the hills, I wouldn't know about it. And they went to the Roosevelt a lot.

SPEAKER_04

Different red. Um it was it looked so different that like Karina and Angela, who had both been to the standard, like didn't even realize it till I was like, This was the standard.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, Whoa my god!

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was beautiful. Um shout out to my cousin, Orchan and Hassan, who Orchin's the GM of this hotel, and um Hassan does something high up there. Anyway, thank you. They were amazing and set this whole thing up and it was very nice. Our section, and the bartenders were amazing, the staff was great. Yeah, the vibes were immaculate. Yeah, I'm not kidding. From start of the day till I went to sleep, it was like the perfect birthday. And I have decided that it's my best birthday since my seventh birthday.

SPEAKER_01

Since your seventh.

SPEAKER_04

I count this as probably my best birthday as an adult.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's great.

SPEAKER_04

Like, absolutely no drama. Everyone got along, everyone mingled with each other.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I got to spend one-on-one time with everyone for a short amount of time, yeah, but still I got to have some intentional conversations that felt very I don't know. I felt so much love yesterday, and I have never received so many DMs, texts, and messages in my life.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Compared to my birthday last year, which was a bit of a fiery shitstorm. This was really good.

SPEAKER_01

What happened last year? I don't remember.

SPEAKER_04

Last year I just went to Disney with Ramiro and Karina on the day while I was dating that idiot. And he was like Why wouldn't I go to Disney? You weren't here for some reason.

SPEAKER_01

In February.

SPEAKER_04

And then I didn't want to do anything for my birthday, so we didn't do anything.

SPEAKER_01

Well could I what was I not here in February? What? That's so random.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, you were at someone's 30th birthday in Mexico.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Cameron.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's right. So you I remember it was a it was a specific reason.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

So that's why you weren't there, and I had a bad time, and then I remember I was supposed to fly to New York and go to Europe?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. That whole thing. That was then? That was then. Oh, time has flown, huh?

SPEAKER_04

And what a 180 great birthday. Anyway, thank you to everyone.

SPEAKER_00

What was your seventh birthday? Sorry.

Viral Millennial Song And Content Vibes

SPEAKER_04

Chuck E. Cheese. It was a surprise Chuck E. Cheese birthday, and I received I was um I was in my hyperfixation of marbles and keychains phase. So are you out of that? Totally, yeah. No, I'm definitely done with that. Open a cupboard of marbles complaint. And my parents got me so many marbles and keychains. It was amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Sick. Okay, well, that's fun. I'm glad.

SPEAKER_04

It was an amazing birthday, and I'm so grateful for everyone. And the photos, she sent me like 10 just to like give me a vibe. She's like, here's it.

SPEAKER_00

Did she edit them?

SPEAKER_04

She's putting like that, it's like that party club filter on them, I can tell. So she's like, here's some. And if you you know, check it out, and I'll see more. It's so good. There's a really good one of you and I. Um, so I'm excited to see all of them and then upload the album so that everyone can see them.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_04

And it was a great birthday. So thank you for being there. And thank you for being there. I got like, guys, I got the hottest photo of Allison. And truly. I did it. Even she liked it.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_04

Which is why I was like, I'm gonna send this to Allison because she looks so hard. She's gonna be like Tom's like, oh my god, yeah. And I was like, she's gonna hate it. She's gonna be like, ew. And no, instead, she said, damn.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was like, I do I did it. Or you said, Oh shit, you said something. Yeah, it's a good photo. Which that is shocking. I usually would hate it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's hot. So I hope that it's part of a carousel for you soon.

SPEAKER_00

No, it will be.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Anyway, I haven't posted it in a long time, so I gotta post something.

SPEAKER_04

Also, if you're one of the 200,000 people that has watched Mine Else and Angela's kind of viral millennial song moment, thank you. We really enjoyed making that, and we're gonna do more.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we're we've got plans.

SPEAKER_04

We got plans, and that was so easy to make.

SPEAKER_00

And a fun thing to make because sometimes when you make content, it's like oh my god.

SPEAKER_04

But just like scream singing to your one of your favorite songs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there's been times where like I'll bring something back. We've kind of shifted our like content strategy now with the fitness marshals, but there was like times where we would bring any of us, we would be like, here's one of my content ideas, and the other two would be like not excited to do it, or something like stupid that I've brought that they're just like, we do not want to do that. Like I think each of us had our own thing sometimes, and um, but that was easy, you know, just sing a song, even though I honestly uh could you guys tell I didn't really know the lyrics, neither did Angela, but I would picked the perfect cut where you guys were lip syncing like perfectly. It's one of those songs, like you just you know it, but like like melodically you can follow it. But then when it comes to mouthing the words, actual words, which I never know actual words of like I could have heard something actually like 50,000 times in my life, and I still might miss you know a phrase here or there because it's just like whatever's in my head I put in my head, it's not real, it's gibberish, and yeah, so but we will I'll you know, more heads up next time so that people can memorize.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but uh so we did chatty's like, how many times did you guys have to sing this? And I was like, more times than they wanted to. I was like, It was like six or seven.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't mind. I don't think I don't think either of us minded. I think we were just a little silly.

SPEAKER_04

We were a little silly, uh, but I'm excited to make more.

SPEAKER_00

That's probably like eight times.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's the kind of that's the kind of ish I want to be making always.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like you are good at like editing music videos and stuff, so you have you had the vision for the cut.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't know. Sorry if I'm making a lot of noise on the microphone. Let me hold on. Oh, oh, I have been using a different stand in order to try to not make sound, but I do also think that one makes sound.

SPEAKER_02

But I think you enjoy holding it.

The Check Saga Escalates

SPEAKER_00

I do, because then I don't have to hold the mic up here. I can relax more. Okay, while Alex is getting that, I can also tell the I have uh some more on my Czech saga. Oh my god. So the Czech saga has a little bit of a addition today, which is I told you I went to Pasadena again to sign. Well, I thought I told you guys last.

SPEAKER_04

You did, you did, you did.

SPEAKER_00

To sign an affidavit for the bank, they had all the information together in one document to send it to the authorities. I don't know, whatever. I had gone, I had gone there, driven there to sign that. Then I got an email back being like, oh, we didn't know this, but we actually need you to have it notarized with your signature. And I was the lady was she's nice, she has been nice.

SPEAKER_04

It's a half a million dollar check.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's$350. The lady's been super nice, and I understand, like, she's just the middle person now with the bank. Um, but she was like, I'm really sorry. I know, like, you don't have to drive back here, you can scan it back to us, but we do need you to like go get it notarized. And they offered, they said that they would pay for anything that has to do with that because the notary was$15. And I didn't have I don't have a printer, I don't own a printer, so I also had to have it printed. I went to UPS, shout out to UPS. The lady there was actually really freaking nice and a dream to work with. Yeah. UPS UPS is ha are notaries. Like there is someone that works at the UPS that is a notary. Got it. I guess. But I also went to the wrong one. I made an appointment to I guess the Sherman Oaks one.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Well, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

Um, because I guess like that person has to be there. Oh you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like whoever the notary is at the UPS has to be there.

SPEAKER_02

Scheduled.

SPEAKER_00

And I made it for 10 30, and then I walked into this one. This was the Encina one. I didn't think about that. But it was, it's right next to me. It you know, you know my address, it's a whole thing. And I walked in, I was like, I have an appointment for notary at 1030. And she was like, Okay, well, we don't do appointments, so you probably are at the wrong one. Oh and I was like, oh, okay. I was like, well, do you can you notarize? And she's like, Yeah. But like, is it gonna be a problem that you're not the right one? And I was like, no, I don't care. Because I didn't like pay for money pay or yeah, no. So, but then I when I pulled out, I had her print the thing, then I looked at it and I was like, I wanna make sure I whatever I have to sign, I wanna make sure I'm doing it correctly. So I called the lady. Of course, she wasn't there because she has not been in office once. Anytime I've gone there, she's not been there.

SPEAKER_02

Ugh.

SPEAKER_00

And I called and I talked to the front desk girl, and she was like, She's not here. And I was like, Okay, well, can you find out exactly what I like where I need to sign on this? Because I I cannot do this again.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so she she did, she called me back. I just kind of hung out in UPS for like 10 minutes. Oh yeah, and um, we figured it out. I signed it, it's been notarized. Okay, sent it to them. I hope to god it's the end.

SPEAKER_04

I do too. This is ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Josh was like, You have the money. Do you actually have to do that? I was like, I'm not gonna, like, I can't.

SPEAKER_04

It's like too much to let it go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's not like, but is like not enough for this. It's weird. You're like right in a middle spot where I would do the same thing. It's like, it's just enough that I'm like, no, I'm not gonna just like not have that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I also don't want them to like like I I want them to figure it out, sure. Yeah, and I like I appreciate that they paid me in a timely manner, but man, what a wild thing.

Remembering James Van Der Beek

SPEAKER_04

Truly. Well, we have some sad news.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's next on my list.

SPEAKER_04

Although yesterday was filled with a lot of joy as it was my birthday, we have lost a millennial heartthrob. James Vanderbeek, if you don't know, passed away from I mean, truly, when I saw the Dawson's Creek reunion, which he looked really rotten. I was like, this is not good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was like so tiny. Just like yeah, he's like very gaunt. He um was 48 years old. Did you do your hair like Dawson? I guess it's like the 90s, like I just had like, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

No, I was doing I was rocking the bowl cut in the 90s.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, colorectal cancer, stage die. He was diagnosed uh stage three in November of 2024.

SPEAKER_04

So it's a long fight. Yeah, long fight.

SPEAKER_00

And he has six kids.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's wild.

SPEAKER_00

And I know that I know that there's been a is it all the same mom? I believe so. And I know that there was a fund that a bunch of celebrities have donated to for the kids. I think it's reached over a million as of um today. Let me see.

SPEAKER_04

That's amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Support James Vanderbeek's family. So the goal was 1.5 million. It's now at 1,874,234. Wow. Which, like, I know he's a celebrity, so it seems like what like why? But he from what I've heard, like he really wasn't getting paid that well from Dawson's Creek, if any anymore. And so, and he worked, but he wasn't, you know, he's not an A-list celebrity. There's like guest appearances on Modern Family and like so like for six kids to now be down to a single mom who is not a she's not an celebrity, yeah. So it's like she is like not getting paid like that. I'm sure he had life insurance or something, but I don't know how that works. I don't know how that works. But I'm sure there is something that she was set up for, especially since he was diagnosed. I'm sure he, you know, got affairs in order. But six kids, it's expensive to, you know, go to college and all those things. So I know that there was a good amount of um other celebrities that were donating.

SPEAKER_04

I never watched Dawson's Creek. I am aware of it because of its cultural relevance, but I did really enjoy him playing himself in the show Don't Trust the Be in Apartment 23.

SPEAKER_00

Underrated show.

SPEAKER_04

Completely should not be cancelled. It was so good.

SPEAKER_00

What's her name is really good too.

SPEAKER_04

Kristen?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. The lead? Yeah. Yeah. Kristen, what's her last name?

SPEAKER_04

I don't know, because she's amazing. She's in Gilmore Girls.

SPEAKER_00

She's Yeah, she's really funny.

SPEAKER_04

She plays a superhero.

SPEAKER_00

She does.

SPEAKER_04

That was really good too.

SPEAKER_00

Let me look her up. Was it only one season?

SPEAKER_04

Two seasons.

SPEAKER_00

Don't trust the bee in Department 23. Kristen Ritter.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say Ritter, but I was like, it can't be Ritter because I'm that's like John Ritter, but the girl, her name is June Colburn.

SPEAKER_00

June. She's also in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Gran Torino, American Dad.

SPEAKER_04

I loved James Vanderby playing James Vanderby.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was really funny. He was really he leaned into the Eric Andres in that show. Great show.

SPEAKER_04

Great show.

SPEAKER_00

Highly recommend if you want to quick watch. But it should not have been canceled. It was a good show. Yeah, I was a big Dawson's Creek fan. Obviously, I was a little uh my gosh. I was a little bit too young when it first was airing, but I got into it, I think, as one of my dance teachers was a big fan when I was like in high school age. And oh my gosh, watched it own, I still own, I have the entire series on DVD. And now it's kind of hard for me to re-watch. It's a little cringy, and oh my gosh. What's her name is actually insufferable? Katie Holmes. She was always insufferable, but like now as an adult adult, wow, tough to watch. Really tough to watch. But and also honestly, Dawson is kind of they're all kind of insuffered. Pacey was the best character to be, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_04

Is he the one that ended up being gay?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_00

In real life?

SPEAKER_04

No, no, in the show.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_04

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

No. Oh my gosh. Spoiler alert. Oh. So there's a love triangle for Katie Holmes. Yeah. So after the beginning seasons, when it's Katie Holmes and James Vanderbeek being like OTP, you know. Then a handful of seasons later, she gets with Pacey, who is Joshua Jackson. And then there's this love triangle that goes on to college and she goes back and forth between them.

SPEAKER_04

And then where does Busy Phillips play into this?

SPEAKER_00

She's a friend.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Not part of the triangle.

SPEAKER_00

She's not part of the triangle, no. Um go it goes to the college years, and it's, you know, everyone wants her to end up with Dawson because it's like, yeah, from season one, you think they're OTP.

SPEAKER_04

But then the hell's OTP.

SPEAKER_00

One true pair.

SPEAKER_04

Never heard that in my life. Is that new slang?

SPEAKER_00

No, not new at all.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

Dawson’s Creek Deep Dive

SPEAKER_00

Then and the finale, you think it like cuts to them. I think he ends up his his whole thing is he wanted to be a director, a movie director.

SPEAKER_04

Who? Dawson?

SPEAKER_00

Dawson. And then it cuts to he is a big time movie director. And uh Katie sits down to watch. Um, this is like a little bit blurry because I haven't watched in a long time, but she sits down to watch some movie he's made, and you think it's Dawson that's gonna come sit next to her because it's like duh, they're obviously gonna end up together, and it's Pacey. And so that the twist is that she really ended up with Pacey in the end and not Dawson.

SPEAKER_03

Whoa.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, people are divided. Like, who was team the original teams, to be honest? Team Dawson, Team Pacey, and honestly, uh R.I.P. to James, but the character Dawson was a little too whiny for me. Oh, and Pacey was cool.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, so all right, damn. I know who did Michelle Williams play in all this?

SPEAKER_00

She's also one of the besties. She had a little stint dating Dawson in the beginning. Oh, okay. Also, so when um what Joey, Joey is Katie's character, Joey and Dawson break up early on, and she dates him, and she kind of has this her grandma's a big character.

SPEAKER_04

Joey's?

SPEAKER_00

No, Michelle Williams. Michelle Williams. I forget her name in the series. Her grandma's a big part of it, and like she lives with her grandma. She like moved there uh because she was a troubled teen, I believe. And in in like the first or second season, she moves to their town, and she's like the like, whoa, she's from out of town and she's different, and all that. She has a stint with Dawson, but then she just she's in the circle of best friends, basically.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00

And her I the gay character.

SPEAKER_04

There is a gay character, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I believe he's Michelle Williams' brother. His name is Jack McPhee. He's played by Kerr Smith, the actor. Do you know him?

SPEAKER_04

Kerr?

SPEAKER_00

You've definitely seen this person before. No?

SPEAKER_04

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_00

He Jack is the younger sister of Andy, who is Michelle Williams. They arrive in Capeside in 1998, beginning their sophomore year at Capeside High School. The two of them, unbeknownst to the gang at first, look after their mentally ill mother, Andrea, while their dad has left the family. Lies, not Michelle Williams. Andy is who's this character? This actress. Oh yeah, I remember her. Meredith Monroe.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yes, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry, yeah, that was I told you a lie. These two move there, and it's a whole thing.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I honestly, you should give it a try.

SPEAKER_04

I think I did with you.

SPEAKER_00

And you didn't like it?

SPEAKER_04

No, I don't I don't think we committed hard enough. I would be willing to go check out the show.

SPEAKER_00

If you can watch anyone but you every single day, I think you can watch.

SPEAKER_04

What? Anyone but you?

SPEAKER_00

Isn't that your favorite movie? Oh what? You forget this every time I say the actual name.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, that's my favorite movie because when you said it, I pictured. What's that movie with Freddie Prince Jr. where he dates the girl that's quote ugly?

SPEAKER_00

Oh. Hmm.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I thought. I don't know why my mind's in 90s.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't remember the name of that, but.

SPEAKER_04

Because what I'm about to probably rewatch is the quick, easy, heartfelt, heart-wrenching, gorgeous, weird, amazing three-season of Roswell.

SPEAKER_00

What is that? New Mexico?

SPEAKER_04

It's about okay. Roswell is this teen drama very similar to Dawson's Creek vibes, about these three aliens that are they come to Earth as children and are found on the side of the road and then raised as normal kids. And as they get into high school, they start to realize they have powers.

SPEAKER_00

And it's it is the giving Kyle XY.

SPEAKER_04

Very much, but like more dramatic. Or supernatural. And this was Catherine Heigel's like beginning. Random. She plays one of the three aliens. When did this come out? Oh my god. I want to say probably '99. And it was Sherry Appleby was the lead.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Did you watch the show Unreal?

SPEAKER_01

Nope.

SPEAKER_04

The the dramatization of The Bachelor. I did not.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Sherry Appleby, Catherine Heigel, and then one of the hottest men ever, and I can't remember his name, but he his character's name is Max, and wow. He does have a belly button, though.

SPEAKER_00

Unlike Kyle Kyle X way.

SPEAKER_04

And then Mojandra Delfino is my favorite character. Um anyway, I think I might rewatch that because they knew that they were getting canceled in the third season, so they gave it a conclusion. I'll really.

SPEAKER_01

They should tell people that.

SPEAKER_04

Listen, if you know your season's ending, I like I know a lot of times they don't find out until they're like in the middle of shooting that season. Pivot the story.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Give the fans a conclusion then.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And they did that.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

And that's all I have to say.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe.

SPEAKER_00

Well, R.A.P. to James, J V D B. That's tough to say. But he does have I think that he had a good legacy of not being an a-hole. And most people really liked him. So that's good to know.

SPEAKER_04

It is.

SPEAKER_00

And it's very sad.

SPEAKER_04

It is, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The Olympics. There's no way to segue out of that, so we're just gonna go on. Okay. The Olympics. Let's talk about metal count. We're not doing as well as I would like us to be doing.

SPEAKER_04

I'll be honest. I watched one thing.

SPEAKER_01

What did you watch?

SPEAKER_04

One routine of a couple skaters dancing together to a spice girl's medley.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well, before I leave, I need to show you Ilya because he's sick.

SPEAKER_04

Who's that?

SPEAKER_00

Ilya is our American. I know, that's all I can think of. Um, he's our American Wonder Boy ice skater. He's known as the quad god. What does that mean? Um, he can do so many.

SPEAKER_04

He's doing the backflip and everyone's freaking out.

SPEAKER_00

So many quad turns.

SPEAKER_04

Isn't quad four? Yeah. So he can do more than four?

SPEAKER_00

Well, he can just do four perfectly.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, he's the quad jump god.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and that there are other people who can do quads, but I think he's just like he it's like second nature to him. It's not like you know, a hard thing for him to do. Correct, yeah. And he is just like so good. Like I'll take a look. I watched spoiler alert on this, I guess, but um the team event for skating is kind of weird because it's like involves couples and like single. Yeah, it's weird. Oh. So it's like the husband and wife, um American team. Yeah. Chalk and Bates is their like last names. Um, so there was like a couple, them and another couple, and then like two single female skaters and like two male, I think. And all of their scores went together to comprise of the team score.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, and I did not know that's how that worked.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think like they also get, you know, individual events or whatever, but for the team, that's how it works. And Ilya obviously went last because duh he's like the premier, and he needed to get a certain score to get us to gold. He falls and still gets more points than anyone else because everything he's doing is so hard and complex. So, like, felt really bad for the I think Japanese skater that went after him. And he literally flawless performance. Like, he immediately was like crying and freaking out after he was done because he knew that he did that flawlessly, and then he gets a score and he still gets like 15, 10, 15, 20, some somewhere around there, points less than Ilya did. And ouch, because it was all on him to take over gold for Japan to win. And like for real, Ilya like literally falls and still got like over 200 points.

SPEAKER_04

So it must be like we learned with gymnastics. Simone messes up a lot, but the complexities of her tricks, yeah, if you execute one of those, is so exponentially higher uh at a score, yeah, it can make up for something like a fall.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I'm gonna show you him because big fan, and he's a little cutie. He looks like one of his outfits, he does look like he's in like the land of Zelda or whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's like a little elf man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, cute. But his other outfit is because they do this short program.

SPEAKER_04

Is he like a kid?

SPEAKER_00

He's young. Yeah. I he might be in his early 20s, but he is young compared. And of course, we love the married couple because they're sweet and don't even know them. Oh my god, oh. Chalk and Bates. They like became partners forever ago, like 20.

SPEAKER_04

Life partners or skate partners?

Olympics Mood And The Quad God

SPEAKER_00

Skate partners. They um she like went to a different facility to train, and his partner had hurt herself, and so they got paired together because she his partner could no longer compete. And they started competing together, became besties, and they started dating in like 2014, and they started winning stuff, and then they got married in 2024.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And so it's just like oh, so cute, and they're really good. So big fan. So, in terms of metal count, um, this is as of today, February 12th. Norway is leading with total oh no, allied with gold. So they have seven gold. Okay, Italy has six gold, the United States has four gold. Now, in terms of total metal count, Italy is winning that with 17.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And then us in Norway are tied with 14.

SPEAKER_04

Ah, okay. So a lot of silvers and bronze for the US?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, we have a lot of silvers. We have four gold, seven silver, three bronze. And I need us to step it up a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, how many days are left?

SPEAKER_00

Another week, I think.

SPEAKER_04

Really?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's usually a two-week thing.

SPEAKER_04

It hasn't already been two weeks? No. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Okay. Oh, it started last Thursday, so it's been a week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I had high hopes for our girl Erin Jackson, I think is her name, the speed skater. And then she got freaking beat by Jake Paul's girlfriend or wife or whatever, Utah from the Netherlands, which she's gorgeous, but like, ew, I'm sus on her because why would you want to date him? What a girl. Ugh. We haven't, we didn't, so we need to talk about Super Bowl stuff too, because we haven't gotten we haven't gotten to talk about that. And so I guess that's a good segue because Jake and freaking Logan are just disgusting. They always have been, obviously. But Jake made just terrible comments about Bad Bunny, and it's just like, oh, you're tweeting that from your house in Puerto Rico. Jake Paul lives in Puerto Rico for tax purposes, and here he is talking shit about Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican who is also an American citizen, and because he did his set in Spanish, his language that he speaks as an American citizen, because oh, guess what? There isn't an official language. I guess maybe Trump tried to make one or it But it didn't happen.

SPEAKER_04

It's not that's not real.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Because the whole thing about America is that we're a melting pot and you can, you know, move to America to live your dreams and to create a life for yourself. But oh, just kidding, if you don't speak English, that's right. Bad. Yeah. So his, you know, the inside thoughts came out with those intrusive thoughts that we know what they equal.

SPEAKER_04

Although I do feel like I saw something that Logan Paul kind of like defended.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but he walked in, Logan. Someone asked him, Are you excited for Bad Bunny? And he was like, no. On a positive note, Bad Bunny Benito crushed it.

SPEAKER_04

Crushed it.

SPEAKER_00

Cutie Patootie.

SPEAKER_04

Gorgeous.

SPEAKER_00

Um, loved it. I would like it noted that Titi Me Pergunto was the song he opened with, and that was on my 2025 Spotify Wrapped top songs. So I felt pretty good about that. You were like on the nose. I don't know all the songs, admittedly, but I have loved that song. I heard it at the gym once, and I was like, what is this song? Add it. Add, and it was on my top. What were your thoughts?

SPEAKER_04

I loved it. It was a very amazing performance. I love that whatever he screamed in Spanish, and this is not verbatim, this is because I've watched a couple videos about it, but right before Lady Gaga comes out, he says, Is this what you wanted?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Something like a white woman.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And then she comes out. I love that. She was like, Yeah, I'll play along with this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So what I also learned is that Mr. Bad Bunny, big monster.

SPEAKER_04

Big monster. Yeah. Big little monster.

SPEAKER_00

Big fan.

SPEAKER_04

Big little monster, he is. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I didn't know he was such a Lady Gaga fan. And then I saw like a bunch of pictures of him wearing like Birch and I loved it.

SPEAKER_04

I think the whole thing was so entertaining.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's funny people call him Jessica Albow. And Alex Earl was in the casita, and it's like No, people are saying him Jessica Alba was like, why are you pretending like you can't dance? You were literally honey.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't seen people say that that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_04

Well, she was in her 20s. Like, yeah. She's a maham.

SPEAKER_00

Um, like Cardi, I didn't see everyone. I know Pedro Pascal was in there, Cardi was in there, and they um that makes sense. Alex Earl was caused confusion, but she's like big Miami girl. Oh, okay. And like her whole brand is um Miami culture and stuff. Like, so I don't know. Some people, some stuff came out about her, so I don't know. Yeah, whatever. Interesting. But I do think that's why she's in there. They might be friends, also. I think they might have worked together or something. So I don't know. But as overall, like I understand that it if you're at the Super Bowl, it's not exciting to watch per se, because it's made for television. And you're there, like the sound isn't great, it's echoing. And especially like this type of thing, if it's a big stage that they've made, because sometimes sometimes it's like a stage in the middle, sometimes it's a stage at one of the ends, and it's like the audience still can see. And I think like last year with um Kendrick, like his was pretty open, so you could like see the overall look, but they are performing to the camera that is broadcasting to TV, so it's like not at that exciting if you're in person. So I can understand people there being like, eh, it was kind of it does feel like it is lackluster if you're in person. I've never been to the Super Bowl, but I know if you're watching it, it's it doesn't feel as exciting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

Super Bowl Halftime, Bad Bunny, And Backlash

SPEAKER_00

So I can understand that perspective of being like, well, I could I didn't know what was going on, so I couldn't keep up. That's different than you just being like, I hated it because he was singing in Spanish. So preface that from the actual television audience, like I think that the journey was like cool, and it was cool to see all the nods to Puerto Rico and Latin culture and stuff like that. I thought the dancing was super fun. So fun. I loved, you know, all the people in the grass outfits. I saw a girl on uh TikTok that recorded her during she couldn't record in the rehearsals, but like every every day getting ready, being like, okay, like this is what we're doing today in rehearsal, and today I got my credentials, and then we get fitted for our grass and stuff. Like it was really cute. Um, but loved it.

SPEAKER_04

It was great.

SPEAKER_00

The game was pretty boring.

SPEAKER_04

I gotta say, didn't watch the look of it, and I have no idea who won.

SPEAKER_00

Literally, the Seahawks won.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But it was just like Against who? Pretty low scoring, the Patriots.

SPEAKER_04

The Patriots.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty low scoring because like I assume I was like also chatting and you know, like whatever, because it wasn't like explosive. I found myself just like not paying attention and chatting. I literally didn't see any commercials. Like I don't oh, I saw the one with all the like 90s characters. Did you see you didn't watch? Okay. I didn't watch it all. Anyway, I was bored. It was pretty low scoring because I guess good defense.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, right. On both sides.

SPEAKER_00

I guess, yeah. So whatever. But had a great time, really enjoyed it. I don't know. Like, I I just like people who are love what they do and do it with a passion and are good at it and are attractive and like all of it, like, how can you be mad at like a good performance no matter what? And if you if you didn't, like you can say it's not my type of music, like maybe you're really into hard rock, or maybe you're into Screamo, whatever, and it's like it's not my favorite type of music, like that's an okay critic critique to have.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But if your critique is about like the way someone looks or speaks, like I'm sorry, that's just racist. Like, I don't know what to say. Like you could you're allowed to say I just did an under, I just it just wasn't my cup of tea, and like no one's gonna be mad at you, right? Like, whatever. There's been time been um performances that I just didn't care about because it wasn't the music I liked, like you two who isn't American either, right?

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Or like who else is there's been so many non-American, yeah. But like that type of music, you too, or I don't know, I'm bored by that because I like dancing. I like I love dancers and I love like lights and all that kind of stuff. So like I'm not gonna be excited about like a rock performance at the Super Bowl, right? But that doesn't mean I'm gonna say like mean things about the person personally, exactly. And by the way, yeah, like the whole message was like go America, we love America, and by that we mean all American countries because the it's not just the United States, right? Like listed all coun all of the countries, however many there are. I don't know the exact number of American territories, American countries and American territories, and it's like the the message was love, and some people didn't pick up on that.

SPEAKER_04

For sure not, you know, because they were watching the all-American halftime show. Oh gosh, that was funny. I did go through down a rabbit hole of that.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't.

SPEAKER_04

What a time. Because you know what?

SPEAKER_00

It's not for me, and I didn't watch it, and you know what?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but I was people watch like at attending the Super Bowl and then filming themselves with headphones in, watching the show. Oh, you're so cool.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. Okay, do your thing. Yeah, who cares? Just shut up about it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sorry. Uh I'm I digress because I just like there's no need to be mean. There's like, you know what? It takes way more work to be mean than it does to be nice.

SPEAKER_02

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Because being nice sometimes just means saying, you know, just shutting your mouth. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Sometimes it's okay to just not talk.

SPEAKER_00

You literally just shut up us having a podcast.

SPEAKER_04

Literally stop talking.

SPEAKER_00

Literally, you don't have to talk.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, thanks for listening this week. It's been really nice.

SPEAKER_00

Love you so much. Okay, next. Oh, shoot, I went off the Olympics too fast.

SPEAKER_04

Jumping back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because I read an interesting article that I feel like no one else is talking about. And that's the issue of copyright music with the skaters.

SPEAKER_04

I have no idea what you're talking about. Educate.

SPEAKER_00

Educate me. So it's my I gotta get I gotta get comfortable for this.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, of course, yes.

SPEAKER_00

So previously, apparently, from the little research that I have done. Previously, like previous previous years, previous decades, whatever. The dancer or the skaters had to use um royalty free royalty-free or orchestral music, if you will.

SPEAKER_04

That makes sense. I feel like when I think back to like it's like orchestral music.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So they made a change, especially for the ice dancing portion, where they are allowed to use music with words. And they even have a this year's um theme was 90s. Oh, that explains the so all of them are dancing to medley. So they all are allowed because they were like, we want to make it more exciting for audience members to watch. Thank God. Especially people who maybe aren't like super into the sport, that's a way to keep their eyes on. So they changed the rules, they're allowed to use that. Okay. Now for the Olympics, they do have to get their music cleared. Okay, basically, because it's a televised thing. And I'm sure if uh the world championships or whatever, if those are televised, they probably have to get them for that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

Be Kind Or Be Quiet

SPEAKER_00

I have an article, I uh had it condensed so I can read it to you. Uh, the summary of this New York Times article, okay? So at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, several figure skaters have run into trouble over music copyright rules when choosing songs for their Olympic routines. Saters are responsible for securing proper licensing and permission to use songs, and this year the issue has come into sharper focus than ever before. Some athletes, like Amber Glynn of the United States, were publicly challenged when a musician said her routine used his song without permission, which I'm sorry, I'm all for artist rights and getting paid. I understand that. But it's also like Your song's gonna be. So I think it's kind of insane for the Olympics to put it on them to be like, if you want this, if you want the Backstreet Boys girl, reach out and get it cleared. I feel like the um Olympic committee should take on that for the Olympics.

SPEAKER_04

100%.

SPEAKER_00

It and I don't know about like I don't know. I think that they probably have enough money to pay for it also, but also NBC has enough money to pay for it. Yes. I don't know. It's just kind of a wild thing because imagine practicing for your routine, and it's like, well, it's two months ahead of time. We've submitted to Sony music that we want to use this Britney Spears song from the 90s. We're waiting to hear back, and it's like, well, we still have to practice our routine.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So, and then it gets to two days before the Olympics, and then you hear back from Sony, and they're like, sorry, no. And then it's like, well, we've practiced this whole time with this song. Now we have to randomly find a royalty-free track that sounds like a 90s song and change to that. Yeah, I don't know. I think it's a it's weird, and I think the Olympics should take on specifically for the Olympics. I agree for the rest of the competitions. If it's not televised, I'm sure it doesn't matter because no one's making money off of it. It's just like it's like a dance competition, like you go and you do your dance to Bruno Mars and then whatever.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But if it's a televised thing, I can understand. Yeah. I don't know. And I agree, I just think if you're it's good promo for the artist. Regardless. And it's like a oh, every four years, it's not I know. I don't know. It's not like they're going on tour and it's gonna be all these cities and you're missing out on all this money. Thousands and thousands of like two days of competition. But I'm also not an artist, and you are, and so no, it's exposure is everything.

SPEAKER_04

Cause what if you like watching that? I was like, oh my god, I forgot about that song. Download there, you just got another streamer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But something, you know, a lot of people aren't talking about is the copyright issues.

SPEAKER_04

Something people really aren't talking about enough.

SPEAKER_00

They're not talking about it enough.

SPEAKER_04

It's true.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, that was that. You got anything else?

SPEAKER_04

I don't.

SPEAKER_00

Well then is it time for?

SPEAKER_04

It's time for.

SPEAKER_00

A list of the week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Do you have one?

SPEAKER_01

It's Bad Bunny, duh.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Okay. Him as a person, his music, all the above.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I love that he says, one day I could, I could really be into men. Right now I'm just straight.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's very like fluid.

SPEAKER_04

He's just cool. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Just a cool guy.

SPEAKER_04

Who the fuck cares? Calm down.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Cutie.

SPEAKER_04

Funny on SF. Very fashionable.

SPEAKER_00

Very good on SF. Very funny. Has fun music. Again, don't know all the music.

SPEAKER_04

But what you know you like.

SPEAKER_00

What I know, I like.

SPEAKER_04

Um, my list of the week is going to be. Well, I'm gonna say Roswell because I am really I've been thinking about it for about two weeks now. So I think tonight I'm gonna get into bed and I'm gonna try I'm gonna start it again. And if anyone would like to join me and watch party Roswell, seasons one through three. Oh, it's so good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Love that. Birthdays for today, which are today is the 16th. The weekend is 36. Not my cup of tea. If he was performing, I wouldn't be that excited at the Super Bowl, but I wouldn't be mean to him.

SPEAKER_04

I was mean to him when I was drunk at his concert at Coachella.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, you were. So now you should take it back and you should think about that.

SPEAKER_04

I want to take it back. I was drunk when I was closeted, gay man who really wanted to see Ariana Grande come out. Had nothing to do with you as a person. I understand that you are musically really talented, but I was looking for Ariana that night, even though you were the headliner.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, you know what? Do you feel better? Do you feel healed?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and I'm sorry, the weekend. I really am.

SPEAKER_00

What is his name? The Mr. Weekend?

SPEAKER_04

The Mr. Weekend.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Ava Max is 32.

SPEAKER_04

She's sweet but a psycho.

SPEAKER_00

She's sweet but a psycho. I don't know the line after that, so.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, she's sweet but a psycho. That's I was looking for you to say psycho.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, my bad. I thought you were gonna regale an actual tale. Right. The forgotten Olsen Elizabeth. She's not forgotten. She's actually. That's actually true. You're right. But to me, because you know, I'm I grew up with the girls. Just you, not I. Yeah, just wait. What's your favorite movie?

SPEAKER_04

Uh Passport to Paris? Winning London.

SPEAKER_00

Billboard Dad. No, what you're you have to pick one.

SPEAKER_04

It's between Passport to Paris and Winning London. I can't decide. Billboard Dad, though, I did buy on VHS from Sam's Club when I was when I was younger.

SPEAKER_00

You were so straight.

unknown

So straight.

SPEAKER_00

Well, mine's Holiday in the Sun, obviously.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that one is that one I remember be having like really gay feelings about the boys in that movie. Being like, oh, I can't watch this. I'm feeling things that are not good.

SPEAKER_01

That's fair.

SPEAKER_00

And Megan Fox, her debut, her being such a bitch.

SPEAKER_04

Is there a scene in Holiday in the Sun where they're in the Nope, that's Winning London. There's a scene in Winning London where they're in the air ducks, like hiding from something. Marikate or Ashley and a boy. And I remember being like, I'd give anything to be in there right now. I wouldn't want to be there.

SPEAKER_00

I famously begged my mom to take. Excuse me. Begged my mom to take me to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. And she did. And she did. And not only did she hire Bulls and Twins. We went twice. Wow. And I bet it was happening. Mom, thank you so much for that. Because all I wanted to do was be in I didn't even go to that little kids' club because by the time I was there, I was 18. And so it was like, what am I gonna go to the kids' club? And it wasn't, it didn't look like it did, I don't think. I think they might have filmed that somewhere else. The club part. Oh probably, yes. Oh, I wanted to I wanted to touch the stingray like they did. I wanted to uh just run around and I got to do that, and it was really great.

SPEAKER_04

But while we're on the Olsen twins, can we why the smartest business move they can make right now is putting their catalog on a streaming service. Do you know the streams they would get? Yeah, I don't know why they're at the time when they were releasing like two movies a year.

SPEAKER_00

Is it their production company or who owns them? I wonder if they've already sold them somewhere.

SPEAKER_04

But they're not on any streaming platform. I'm talking Winning Goal, the soccer movie, Passport to Paris, Winning London, fucking Billboard Dad, Holiday in the Sun, Our Lips Are Sealed, A New York Minute.

SPEAKER_00

Younger, too.

SPEAKER_04

Two of a kind. Yeah. Oh, great movie. Such a good movie.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Let's see.

SPEAKER_04

A New York Minute. Did I already say that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I just want to know. I'm gonna see if I can see who owns them. Distributed by Warner Brothers Home Entertainment.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so what?

SPEAKER_00

Because don't but don't they have their own production company?

SPEAKER_04

They do, yes. But Netflix just brought bought Warner Brothers, so are they gonna make this happen? I certainly hope so.

SPEAKER_01

I do too.

SPEAKER_00

Mary Kane Ashley Olsen's production company, Dual Star Entertainment, grew. I remember that logo. Like, wow. Founded in 1993, gave them creative control over their movies.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry, I'm on a rabbit hole.

A-List Of The Week

SPEAKER_00

Dual star. Wow, what a lengthy Wikipedia. In September or in January 2005, the Olsen's parted ways rot with Robert Thorne and I okay, we don't know those people. Dual star parted with Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Wow. Dual Duel on the synergy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um twin on twin on twin. Twin on twin.

SPEAKER_04

Hmm. The world may never know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't know. Either either they just are being weird, which they are kind of weird, um, and they don't want to do that, or I wonder if they have the ability to, if there's some contract or something that is stopping them. But if Warner Brothers distributes and now with the merger, maybe they can. Because right now it's like literally being pirated. Like people have like these like back end accounts that are like, here's a link that I have all the movies on, you can watch it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And they're gonna get sued, to be honest. They shouldn't do that.

SPEAKER_04

Let's bring them out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, sorry, back to birthdays.

SPEAKER_00

Um, yes, she's Elizabeth Olson is 37, if I didn't say that. Ice T.

SPEAKER_04

But she's 89, so she's just a year older than us. Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Ice T is 68.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Lupe Fiasco is 44. And then that's kind of for people, but movie-wise, the Black Panther released uh in 2018 on this day, and Happy Gilmore uh came out in 1996.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Love it. Happy birthday, everyone.

SPEAKER_00

And happy birthday to you.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you. And you're coming up next so soon.

SPEAKER_00

So soon. All right. We love you guys. Thank you so much. Please like actually follow us if you don't. Um, and comment if you can and rate us if you can. Like, I know it's annoying when we say that as a YouTubers, but it actually does help us, you know. And um, you know, we're trying to grow. We're trying to grow. So tell a friend to listen to.

SPEAKER_04

Share it, share it with a friend.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We love you so much.

SPEAKER_04

Love you, everyone. Have a great week.

SPEAKER_00

Bye.
