Cold Open And Quick Intro
SPEAKER_02Cheers. Not sponsored. Imagine if Koch sponsored us. That'd be crazy. No. They don't need to.
SPEAKER_00They really don't.
SPEAKER_02Well, hello.
SPEAKER_00New Jersey? Yep. Is it because we're the NFL?
SPEAKER_02Not the state, though.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_02New Jersey.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. How did I not catch that? That was a great dad joke.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh yep. I got it a while ago actually.
SPEAKER_00Because we were the NFL champions?
SPEAKER_02No, we actually lost in the NFL in the NBA finals last year. We lost last year.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry about that.
SPEAKER_02But this was on sale.
SPEAKER_00It's cute. It's a crop.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it's actually from Fashion Nova. I don't know if I'm allowed to like buy from there, really. If that's bad or not. I feel like it's bad.
SPEAKER_00Well, the deed's been done.
SPEAKER_02But it was on sale. And I'm a hoe for a sale.
SPEAKER_00Oh, me too.
SPEAKER_02Well, should we just get into the intro and then just go, you know?
SPEAKER_00Like just rip it. Rip it off the band-aid. Here we go. Three, two, one.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back to the A-list podcast with Allison and Alex. I'm Allison. He's Alex. I just thought, you know.
SPEAKER_00What a novel idea.
SPEAKER_02Let's just get into it.
SPEAKER_00Just right into it.
SPEAKER_02We have to recap the birthday weekend. I know everyone's been waiting on baited breath. What does that mean? What's baited?
SPEAKER_00Isn't it that?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Should I look up the um Yes.
SPEAKER_00Definition.
SPEAKER_02Definition. Baited is an adjective meaning reduced, lessened, or restrained, derived from the verb abate.
SPEAKER_00So it is kind of like holding your breath.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I guess. What's that from?
SPEAKER_00My head. Did it sound like a musical?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, did you just write that? Yeah. My gosh, fun.
SPEAKER_00You witnessed it.
SPEAKER_02Whatever happened to the musical you were writing.
SPEAKER_00It's actually so funny because I now that I have a piano again, I started going through all of my old voice notes and notes. And I came across it.
SPEAKER_02You need new characters. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So many people have to change in the musical.
SPEAKER_02But that's life, you know? That could be in the musical.
SPEAKER_00I it's more that there's a couple people I just don't even want to give spotlight to. Like I don't want attention drawn to them as humans.
SPEAKER_02That's fair.
SPEAKER_00So, but the songs are great, so I will put them in use of someone else.
SPEAKER_02Okay. If I don't know how to write things, but I'll help.
SPEAKER_00Great. You can be a well then. Storyboard.
SPEAKER_02I can help with the storyboard. I can write like little note cards and we can like put them in order and things like that. Isn't that a thing people do?
SPEAKER_00Yes. But as far as the music and lyrics go, I'll just you'll it won't be me. Well, no, but you'll be a good um focus group because you are of the general public then.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00Stanley, what?
SPEAKER_02He really needs to get right there.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, birthday recap.
SPEAKER_00Because you're already on baited breath.
SPEAKER_02Right. That's circling back.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02Uh Saturday, I had my little my partee at the Club. In the Club, we all friends.
SPEAKER_00And we were.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Club Zero.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Club Zero Lounge.
SPEAKER_00Shout out.
SPEAKER_02Yes. They had made some cute little um things for me that marked my the booths. I will say, if they're looking for some feedback, I don't think people really want to. I guess basically, like the booths that I rented were very far away from each other.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02And like I guess I I knew that. But in hindsight, I feel like they should block off like one's whole side.
SPEAKER_00Because there's people using both sides, both booths that weren't part of your party. Yeah. You paid for that.
SPEAKER_02I know. Like how what was I supposed to and what do you do?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. To me, that either that whole section needs to be blocked off with like a rope or something, or just one side. I don't know. But it was it was nice. We had a little snafu earlier in the day with the arrangement of the payment. And basically, long story short, he had the owner had told me one thing when I was inquiring about renting the street. And then, like, it's kind of the reason I went with it because it was very affordable for me personally. And then I paid and everything, and we didn't talk for weeks. We had a one check-in that was like, hey, we're still good for this day. I was like, yeah, totally. Then we checked in. I checked in the week before, still good to go. And then the night before, he sent me an email at midnight and was like, Hey, are we still good for tomorrow? And by the way, we have to do the payment for uh the minimum you have to hit completely different than I told you before. Yeah. And I was like, no, we aren't doing that. Not the night of. Yeah. Um, and so I promptly sent him an email back as soon as I woke up. Luckily, I woke up early that day for some reason. Um, so you were excited. Yeah, just like type, type, type back. Hey, that's not what you told me. Here's a screenshot of what you did tell me. X, Y, Z. And I didn't hear from him for a long time because he does own a club. So like he definitely didn't get up until like 2 p.m. Yeah. But he called me and he was actually really nice and was like, You're totally right. I did tell you that. I'm sorry. Like, we just have like a new system that we're trying to do.
SPEAKER_00He wasn't aware that it it couldn't do the thing that he said we could do.
SPEAKER_02Right. Which is not my problem.
SPEAKER_00But he did come up with a good solution.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he came up with a solution. It was fine. It didn't cost me any more money. It seemed to be smooth, and everything was good, and he was very nice about it. So that was the only little hiccup.
SPEAKER_00I will say too that those jello shots were like the best jello shots I've ever had. They weren't for some reason they weren't too sweet. I don't know what it was.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they were good. It's just the cup they had was too deep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, really deep.
SPEAKER_02You gotta have a spoon.
SPEAKER_00Well, my tongue hit the bottom, but well, good for you.
SPEAKER_02Mine didn't. I broke it because I couldn't. Um, I did take one too many shot, two too many shots. I will. Did you throw up, did you? I did not. I just was like getting home like a little bit more.
SPEAKER_00I nearly did throw up. I almost didn't make it.
SPEAKER_02You also have like so not that far to go.
SPEAKER_00Correct. This is correct. But you know when you first lay down when you're a little too drunk and you shouldn't have laid down. Oh my gosh, spins. That's what I did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can't do that.
SPEAKER_00It was just like, God, if I just sat up for maybe like 30 more minutes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you need to drink some water, maybe have a bite or two of something.
SPEAKER_00Well, boyfriend and I pre-planned and had walked to Trader Joe's and had a pizza ready to put in the oven.
SPEAKER_02That's so smart.
SPEAKER_00And nothing tastes better than a drunk barbecue chicken pizza.
SPEAKER_02Precisely. I uh for the first time took a not sponsored Z Biotics, and I do think it did help me. I was just really tired.
SPEAKER_00You were able, I was shocked when I looked at your location and saw you made it to your appointment. I was like, whoa, okay, she was.
SPEAKER_02We were actually late because I guess I should have asked you this. I okay, wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.
SPEAKER_00Sorry.
SPEAKER_02So the party was good. Um, had fun, danced. There, the DJ actually played really good music.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was great.
Afternoon Tea Timing Stress
SPEAKER_02Um, and only had one little like issue with an attendee. Um, and yeah, fun time. Yes. And then the next morning, uh, I had a made a reservation to go to the Huntington Gardens to have afternoon tea and then walk through the gardens. And my appointment or my reservation was at noon. And we were like just a few minutes late. We were like 12.05. Yeah. Maybe four. But we what I didn't know is that the rose garden is in the middle of the gardens. I thought it was at the front for some reason. Because the time I've been before, I knew there was like some buildings up at the front that you could eat at.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, yes. So you thought it was kind of in the vicinity.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_0220 minute walk back there. And so I was, of course, stressed out because you walk in, then you have to stand in a line to check in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I just thought, because I had pre-purchased tickets that you just walk in, you scan, and you walk. No, these are things I probably should have asked you what the protocol was. But for the reservations, like you only get like a 15-minute grace period. And so I was like, we're not gonna be able to eat, basically. And Josh was like, I'm not gonna let them do that. Don't worry, like it's fine. But then we had to 20 minutes walk into the middle of the gardens to get to the reservation. Yeah. And we were like, had no idea, didn't did zero research on the location of this place. We had to wait, like, I don't know, less than five minutes. They were like, Okay, they were like, sit down and we'll like see where we are on the reservations and everything. And it ended up being fine, and we had a nice seat.
SPEAKER_01Very good.
SPEAKER_02I will say it's like pretty, hmm. The tea itself, the drink, the tea, the best tea I've ever had in my life.
SPEAKER_00The tea.
SPEAKER_02Best tea I've had in my life. And did you try multiple flavors, or was it just a we both got we got a different one each?
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_02Like you get your own, like the personal teapot.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Right? So I got a flavor, and then he got a different flavor.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I didn't know if you got multiple cups, like different flavors.
SPEAKER_02Oh, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00And I totally heard that as he got he and I got me.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, I forget which one I got, to be honest, but it was really good.
SPEAKER_00A bulky one or like a clear one? Wait.
SPEAKER_02Mine was a reddish intent.
SPEAKER_00And then then did you put cream or anything in it?
SPEAKER_02No. No, it didn't need it. I put no, I did put a couple little cubes of sugar. Oh, cute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, it's more about doing activity.
SPEAKER_02Little tweezer. Uh, I think it was like Earl Grey Creme something. So it was like Earl Grey, but then it had a reddish tint, so there was something in it that made it that delish. He got like a a pear, caramel pear situation. It was really good. I think mine was a little bit better.
SPEAKER_00Did he agree?
SPEAKER_02He did agree. And then I got the like more expensive version of the tea tasting menu.
SPEAKER_01Got it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because it came with a glass of champagne and like a little lobster roll, which that was delish. And like a little extra tart. And he got the other one because he does didn't want the lobster roll. Yeah. Uh, but I will say it's like a little too expensive for it. The food was not and the pastries were not like out of this world. Yeah, I wasn't dying over them. So like for$75.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. A person.
SPEAKER_02A person. It like was a little bit lacking in that area. Like for the for the sandwiches, I guess they're sandwich. The lobster roll was really good. There was a another one. Oh, there was like a little tartine, if you will. Did you remember that one with like salmon, something sort of salmon-y on it, and like salmon roe, and I don't know. Like that was also really good. But then the rest, like, there was I don't know, mushrooms and goat cheese, or mushrooms and blue cheese and things. They were it was fine, but it wasn't like, oh my god, wow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay.
Magic Castle Night And Show Strategy
SPEAKER_02So yeah. And then on my actual birthday on a Monday, Josh and I went to the Magic Castle.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_02He had had an invite um that he got like last year, but we didn't end up being able to go like when we were originally planning.
SPEAKER_00Dinner and the show.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Nice. Um, I will say that we didn't plan perfectly. Because the last time I went, um I went with someone who had was taking magic classes, and I got there like a little bit late because the whenever the magic classes ended.
SPEAKER_00Or just what a sentence.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Was later. So missed a bunch of stuff that happened before that. And then I had to watch the show of the the teacher of the magic class.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then got to see the close-up room, which is like a really fun room, but only 15 people can fit into that.
SPEAKER_01I hate it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you did? Oh, because people I hate being that close to the tricksters, which I do need to talk about. But so we got there at seven. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30. So we were like, wow, we're gonna have to.
SPEAKER_00We were gonna do shows first.
SPEAKER_02We were we were like, we'll just see what we can watch before.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02And um, so we go in and there's like, you know, there's a room with a like ghost pianist, and you can ask her to play literally anything ever in the world, and she can play it. You can be like, play Brittany Spears, and she will, or play a music, or play a style. And so we kind of got caught up in there, like getting our drink. And then I also didn't know that you could walk around with your cocktail.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. Because you can't have your phone in case those listening, like you cannot have your phone out, or you'll get kicked out.
SPEAKER_02No, you can't. Although people have their phone out, you just can't take pictures.
SPEAKER_00That then they've loosened on that because we would get like when we went, person I was with, sh she pulled out her phone and they were like, That's your last warning.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, they were just like no photos and videos. People were definitely like looking up things on their phone. Oh, wow. Okay, so I don't know. But I didn't realize that you could walk around with your drink because I was like, This is an expensive old mansion, like with carpet everywhere. They definitely don't want people stumbling and falling with their cocktails everywhere.
SPEAKER_00But it happens, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So we were kind of at the bar and I was trying to just toss it, get my drink down, and so we were trying to go in the close-up room first because the time of that was right then, and then we didn't make it in because again, only like 15 people can fit in that room, and so I was like, Oh, that one's full. And we were like, Okay, well, what can we do next? And we looked, and that just the times of the shows didn't really line up.
SPEAKER_00You would have been a little late.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we were like, Well, let's try to go on this one and maybe we can slip out the back. And we stood in line for like a half hour. Oh my god, and because we didn't have a ticket for this show. Oh, and we were like, Hey, our reservation it was the show started at 8. Our reservation was at 8:30. And we were like, Hey, is it okay if we sit in the back and we can just like slip out the back? And the lady was like, Absolutely not. We were like, Okay, so sorry. My bad. So then ever. So then we like two shows we like did, we were like, we've seen zero magic here.
SPEAKER_00Um well, you haven't, you saw piano.
SPEAKER_02That's true. Uh, but then we were able, waiting for our reservation to watch like a guy just like doing magic, like out in the hallway at a little table. So that was good. He was really good. Then we had our dinner reservation, and that was good. I had a steak, and he had some pasta thing.
SPEAKER_01Cute.
SPEAKER_02And then we did like with your dinner, they give you a ticket to go to another one of the shows in the bigger rooms. So we went to see this girl who she's from Chicago, she's been on a bunch of like talent shows or something, and she did a really fun uh trick that Josh was involved in because she was like, I love sports, and I like to send her my tricks around sports a lot of the time. So she asked if anyone liked baseball, and he raised his hand, and um, she asked the team, and he said the Cubs, and she was like, Oh yeah, I'm from Chicago, get up here. And so she did a really cool like card throwing trick with him, but first she kind of distracted us because but first she was like, What was the last time you went to a Cubs game and when and how much was it if you have ever bought a hat, how much was it? And he was like, I don't know, probably like 2013 and probably$25. And so that was like at the beginning, and then when he walked up there, so we kind of forgot that she asked him that question. And then she did her trick, like throwing cards, and that was really cool. And then she was like, Well, she was like, I'm so upset that I forgot I didn't bring my cubs hat, I just have this like angel's hat or whatever, and she had this box that was empty and she put the angel's hat in there, and then she closed it and she reopened it, or maybe she didn't put the other hat in there, but it was empty. She closed it and she reopened it, and it had a cub's hat in the box, and then she which was cool, but it was like, okay, sure. We can I guess figure out how you did that, but then she was like, Look at the receipt, and it said March 9th, 2013,$25. Wild uh so cool, yeah. So that was fun, and then we just we got to watch a couple other things and we ended our night in the close-up magic room. Great, but we were there till 12 30. Wow, because we were like, we have to watch shows because we have not planned well on that was a Monday night. I know it was pretty crazy, but it was you know, you know me. Love magic, loved walking around because I didn't get a walk around really the last time and all the nooks and crannies and like what'd you guys wear? I had a I wore a black dress and he wore a black suit. Yeah, great, with he had a yellow tie. Cute, but yeah, that was it.
SPEAKER_00Wow, what a great birthday weekend! You made it go right into the beginning of the week.
SPEAKER_02But you have to do that. Yeah, I don't never really do that. That was crazy of me to have three days in a row. Yeah, yeah. Three days in a row is a lot.
SPEAKER_00Well, happy birthday.
Ice Maker Rules For Adults
SPEAKER_02But I appreciate everyone who wished me a happy birthday and everyone who attended my things. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00How's the ice maker?
SPEAKER_02Lovely. I set it up actually officially last night because I Monday was a wash.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then I had moved it again, and I was like, do I need to let it sit again? Um, and then I couldn't reach the plug, so I had to have help.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. But it's up and operational now.
SPEAKER_02It is up and operational. And my question is, do you leave it on all the time?
SPEAKER_00Okay, because it'll melt and then it'll just recycle and make another six.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was like, do I need to not do that? And it's so hot outside that I and my apartment gets so hot that I feel like it's gonna melt so fast.
SPEAKER_00We'll see. But when I w when I go to boyfriend's for like multiple days, I will turn it off because it doesn't need to be running. True, true, true.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, Alex got me an ice maker also, and I'm very excited about it.
SPEAKER_00Nothing like fresh ice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I don't have an ice maker in my um fridge and freezer, and I am not taking the time to make ice cubes. Like, I'm so sorry I can't do it.
SPEAKER_00It does. And then remembering to get a bag of ice is annoying.
SPEAKER_02And I'm constantly buying bags, and that's just like money that doesn't need to be happening.
SPEAKER_00It's literally water.
SPEAKER_02So you have solved my problems. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_00Are you using filtered water?
SPEAKER_02I am okay.
unknownGood.
SPEAKER_02Duh.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't hate myself. I'm just kidding.
Viral TikTok Song With AI Voice
SPEAKER_00Okay, I have to talk about a TikToker.
SPEAKER_02Please.
SPEAKER_00Well, I sent it to you because I was like, we gotta talk about this. I watched. Okay. So I'm not gonna use his name, obviously, but this is like this is why this is where the debate of AI is starting to like stress me out.
SPEAKER_02Is that person AI?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I was about to say I'm cooked because I had no idea.
SPEAKER_00This person is a musician, he's a songwriter. The video I sent you was of them playing guitar, singing, a song they wrote. Terrible singing voice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was like I was like, I know I don't have a great ear, but this is sounding a little flat to me.
SPEAKER_00That song that they're playing in that guitar, they are now the reason I found this person is because they have a video going viral right now.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Where they're playing the recording of that song in their car and they're being like, this is gonna be the song of the summer. And without question, you I can tell immediately that it's an AI voice. But no one knows. Everyone in the comments is like, oh my god, I can't wait, release it now. And I'm scrolling, I'm just trying to find one person to be like, that's that voice is 100% AI. Yeah, and I'm not gonna be the one to do it because I don't want to get read to filter.
SPEAKER_02You need a burner, but I'm so upset.
SPEAKER_00I know I thought about it because I was like, these are regular people who are like, this guy's voice is amazing. And I I was like, this voice is fake before I even went and found the video of him him playing it live, and I was like, no fucking way people actually think this is his voice.
SPEAKER_02Well, at least he did post him live because someone in that comment did say, Wow, the power of auto-tune really like matters, I guess, which is such a read or something.
SPEAKER_00But I, of course, am listening to tonality and the tone. It's it is that there is an AI singing voice that's really popular right now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That is on everyone's songs, or like fake artists, like not real artists, have this voice, and it is I it is that voice. Well, he is He did technically write it, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he is being like, I'm a songwriter, I'm trying to get this one artist to notice me to record this song for me, basically. Isn't that what he's saying in the video?
SPEAKER_00He's releasing it on April eleventh himself.
SPEAKER_02With the AI artist.
SPEAKER_00But he's not saying it's an AI artist.
SPEAKER_02You do need a burner account, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_00My guys out him. And the thing is, it is good and catchy, but just own it. Just be like, I wrote this song, but I'm not a singer, and I can't get someone to sing it, so I put an AI voice on it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. If anyone is a singer and they want to sing it for me, let's go.
SPEAKER_00Then hello, it's Millie Vanilli, but like everyone knows about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he definitely should be doing that.
SPEAKER_00But that's also a fun angle, too, to be like, I'm not a singer, but I can't get people to sing my songs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I should just DM him.
SPEAKER_02You should DM him and be like, hey, can I record that? Does he live here?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. He is not here.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, you have recording equipment.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I would rather tell him, like, own that it's an AI artist and make that your story. That you aren't a singer, but now because of AI, you can do this thing. But don't fool people into thinking that it's your voice. Like, that is scary to me.
SPEAKER_02Maybe you should DM him.
SPEAKER_00Maybe I'll all think about it.
SPEAKER_02Or maybe you should just get a burner account and shame him.
SPEAKER_00AI. AI. AI. Just keep putting it. Or maybe I'll put it in the comments. Just be like, Thought, you're a great songwriter, not a good singer. Maybe you're the the that you're you're an artist, and part of your artistry is that your voice isn't your voice, but you can like lip sync in the performances. But he was really playing guitar.
SPEAKER_02He was. But there are then he's just he's just going about it the wrong way. He I don't think this was his plan. I don't know this man. It seems like it was his plan was like, I am just gonna put my song out there and hope that I can get someone I want to sing it. But then because he used the AI, he was like, Hey, I can do this, and this is probably gonna make me money because it's going viral, so I'm just gonna do it. And he pivoted to that, which he could have just done the angle of yeah, I'm a songwriter. Does anyone want to sing this song? And like just kept pumping that out and got a lot of visibility on that, and then use that as his way to like break into someone famous doing it.
SPEAKER_00That's just a little crypto.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's for like very valid.
SPEAKER_00It's something.
SPEAKER_02And honestly, and if you can't beat him, join them. What if you just did the same? Actually, but you can sing, so you don't need to do that.
SPEAKER_00Thanks, Allison.
Max Martin Worship And Pop Songcraft
SPEAKER_02Why don't you just start publishing your songs, please? Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Well, I had a meeting with a songwriter, producer, Fierce. And we're gonna do a project together.
SPEAKER_02Amazing.
SPEAKER_00A single. We're gonna see how we work together.
SPEAKER_02This is a new person. Yeah. Do I know this person? No. Oh, okay. The look in your eye seemed like I might.
SPEAKER_00It's no imagine.
SPEAKER_02It's Max Martin. I'm gonna get together with Max.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, his name, uh you know him as Max Martin, but I call him Mr. Max. Maxie. Oh. Mr. Max. It's fun, playful. Uh I am, I think, Max Martin's biggest fan. Every time I go to do these songs or we're about to.
SPEAKER_02Well, you don't run the fan account, so I don't run the fan account.
SPEAKER_00The fan account will be running on our account, though. No, but I'm I'm always like, I think I'm just Max Martin's biggest fan, is really what it is.
SPEAKER_02Um anyway, so have you ever met a Max Martin song you didn't like?
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's so funny you said that. I thought of oh, there was one the other day that I I have. There is, but I'm not gonna say because A, I can't remember, and B, it doesn't really matter. It's like I'm sure a lot of it is I don't know. I just think in the 90s, Max Martin helped.
SPEAKER_02Just trying things, just trying things?
SPEAKER_00I just think in the 90s, artists were not real people, they were put through a machine. So like Britney and Sink Backstreet Boys at Backstreet Boys are put in the work, but most of them were given these songs. It wasn't really like they got a ton of say in them sometimes. But and so Max got to really be the artist behind the artist. Okay, then as people became more songwriters and he started working with like Kelly Clarkson, he didn't he I have a story about Kelly Clarkson to talk about. Since you've been gone, is Max Martin. Or is it Dr. Luke?
SPEAKER_02I've never heard Dr. Luke in association with Kelly.
SPEAKER_00No, Kelly called him out. Oh, okay. Hold on. It's Dr. Luke and Max Martin. So okay. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_00The Max, but it's Max Martin written all over it. Like it is Max Martin to a T. And I but I Kelly helped write that. So like things changed, and it wasn't just like Max's because a Max song, a Max Martin. A Mr. Max song, a Mr. Maxie's bridge is so iconic, and you know what it is right away. He loves a second part that stands alone, that comes together with the main part in the chorus after the bridge. I love it, I'm here for it. It's all I ever want.
SPEAKER_02You know who needs Max Martin?
SPEAKER_00Ava Max.
SPEAKER_02Cat's eye.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, can you imagine? Because if they just put him in a room together for one month.
SPEAKER_02Here's the thing terrible, terrible songs. They are being given the actual worst songs I've ever heard in my life. And I, you guys, I'm a icon. I love them so much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The girls They deserve better. They're like my little sisters. Like, I love them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you love them.
SPEAKER_02But the the songs, just like think of if they got the Max Martin treatment. Oh my god, it would be glorious. It would be they would be icons already by now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And they are because they're some of the best dancers in the game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like they I think that marketing-wise, like their look and their dancing and visuals, like they're there. It's just people are not really connecting with the music, and it's because they're singing about Tesla, gnarly, in and out, gnarly, like whatever. And it's what that isn't that's not relatable. Bagataki's bagatkies. And uh BT Dubbs.
SPEAKER_00Tell me.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if Menon.
SPEAKER_00Menon?
SPEAKER_02She's the uh yeah, like mixed biracial girl. Um, she like is on leave right now. Yeah, and is she coming back? We don't know.
SPEAKER_00We don't know. But this happens in girl groups, it's wild. It's so intense and toxic and hard mentally. Like it happened to Little Mix, it happened to GRL, it happened at Fifth Harmony. It's just like, why?
Kelly Clarkson Money Mystery And Replacements
SPEAKER_02Because because the patriarchy, literally, because they are being asked so much more, and there's not really boy groups right now, besides the like K-pop boy groups, yeah. But other than that, there's really not, and women just have like such a higher standard and are treated worse. So that's brand new information. Never heard that. Oh my god. Anyway, well, speaking of Kelly Clarkson, I just thought this was crazy. Um, so Rob from Traders was on her show.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And with Daniel Radcliffe, with with gosh, I was gonna say Dream Mont Rotation.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but she said that she never got her prize money from winning American Idol and or nor the car that she was uh told she would be getting.
SPEAKER_00Never got the prize money?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that she was supposed to get a million dollars and a car. And she was like, she basically was like, Rob, I hope you see that money because he had said he hadn't gotten it yet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And she was like, I know how that feels because I never got my money. And I guess maybe they tried to spin it as a million dollar investment. Oh my god, no way. But she was like, I was fully aware that I was supposed to be getting a million dollars of money, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she was like, and my car was beat up and I needed a car.
SPEAKER_00And so I was like, It's like this competition, I could really use that money in a new car.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, never got it. Now she did all right for herself.
SPEAKER_00She sure did. I mean, she got a movie deal too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Do you know that was originally how it was supposed to be?
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00The setup for American Idol was that the winner, the first and second place, would get a movie after every season.
SPEAKER_02And they only did it for the first.
SPEAKER_00Because and then it tanked so bad that they were too. But that was originally it was part of the package. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which is like that is the only thing she got then. She got the the record deal and the movie from Justin DeKelly. Wow.
SPEAKER_00What a great movie.
SPEAKER_02I almost said something so dumb.
SPEAKER_00Say it.
SPEAKER_02No, because Justin Guarini and Corbin Blue are different people, and my statement was gonna be about Corbin Blue.
unknownGot it.
SPEAKER_02And long story short, I saw a TikTok of him and his wife or girlfriend or whatever, and she was making him say book talk, like sexy phrases from like Reese from my movie or from my books, Avatar, in in like the recording booth. So it was like very clean and sexy and dark or whatever. And he was like, I guess this is my life now. Um, but that's not the same person. No, it's not, and that's my bad. It's okay. But she said that Clay Aiken got second place and got a car.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, what? Yeah, so did did Ruben ever get this?
SPEAKER_02It's like also all of a sudden she's like giving us this information.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's so funny. I guess like you're right, she did okay for herself. She got a million brand deals after that.
SPEAKER_02The show's ending. She's like, I'm just gonna I'm going out the bang.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Her show's ending?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The Kelly Clarkson show. Wow.
SPEAKER_02They're finding a replacement. The rumors are pink could be taking it on. She just did like a week.
SPEAKER_00I saw that. Yeah. Her daughter is such a good voice.
SPEAKER_02I mean.
SPEAKER_00That was insane. They did a duet together.
SPEAKER_02I was like, what?
SPEAKER_00Willow?
SPEAKER_02Which like it does seem like a good fit for her because she also is a singer and she can continue doing the karaoke thing.
SPEAKER_00Pinkieokie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Pinkieokie. Wouldn't that be what it is?
SPEAKER_02Hate that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Kalaoke? What's it called?
SPEAKER_02Karaoke. But that rolls off the tongue better than pink.
SPEAKER_00Elishhi Elishi Elishioki. It's harder to say. Her name's Alicia.
SPEAKER_02I think maybe we just go karaoke with pink. Karaoke. Let's sing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Karaoke, let's sing. Okay, but why is she leaving? I think I maybe did this. Did I dream this, or was it like something about family? And she wants to be have more time for her children because their father passed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Has he passed? Yeah, he passed away. Okay, yeah. She's just done it for a long time, I think. And yeah.
SPEAKER_00She hasn't only been like a year.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Actually, no. When we were living in Santa Clarita's when you made me listen to that cover with Billie Eilish.
SPEAKER_02It's been a while.
SPEAKER_00Three years?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I think she's probably just it's run its course on her life. Like, because it's hard. I feel like daily shows, you're filming so much in a day, she has to live in New York.
SPEAKER_00We want her to tour again anyway. Or go back to residency in Vegas.
SPEAKER_02I'd like to feel like because of the her child children's father passing and like that being a lot to take on emotionally for them. And the fact that it's it's a tough daily job to do, like schedule it. It is, yeah. I think it's probably just like run its course.
SPEAKER_00But they're gonna keep the time slot, change the celebrity. Someone like Pink is a good replacement, you're right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was listening to like another podcast throw out people, and it's like someone like Pink that can sing is obviously a good choice, but you could also do just like another good personality that can talk to people.
SPEAKER_00Because I feel like Pink is that yeah.
SPEAKER_02The only thing is like Alicia Keys, maybe. Yeah, the argument was like Kelly's pretty neutral in terms of politics and she remains just Pink is pretty outspoken, so it's like there might be a group of people who are like not her biggest fan because she's kind of polarizing. So like trying to think of someone who's also just people go to for like a good time. Megan Trainer is a good one. Um not well Jennifer Hudson, she already got one. Yeah, which yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, let's go through maybe another alumnus, maybe Katherine McPhee.
SPEAKER_02Catherine McPhee. She would probably be great. Fantasia.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I don't know. I I'm just listing people that I know.
SPEAKER_00I love Fantasia, but I don't think this would be good for 50.
SPEAKER_02I kind of forget who won.
SPEAKER_00Season one, Kelly Clarkson. Season two, Ruben Sutter, season three, Fantasia Barina. Season four, Carrie Underwood.
SPEAKER_02It's not it's not her. It's not her. I'm gonna let you know right now.
SPEAKER_00Season five. Jordan Sparks?
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00She could be a good one.
SPEAKER_02She could be a good one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. They won't give it to a queer.
SPEAKER_02What about Adele?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I would love that. Adele would be so good.
SPEAKER_02She's so funny.
SPEAKER_00So funny. She would be great.
SPEAKER_02Honestly, I think it could be Adele.
SPEAKER_00I think she cares too much about that.
SPEAKER_02No hate to pink. Yeah. Yeah, it has to be someone in their career that like is okay to work like a nine to five basically for a while.
SPEAKER_00Well, this is fascinating. I am actually invested. A guy? We don't care.
SPEAKER_02What about Caleb Heron?
SPEAKER_00Caleb who?
SPEAKER_02Heron. Heron.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the comedian. Sorry. I was thinking of a. Yeah, he would. I would love a Caleb show.
SPEAKER_02Like a person like that. Maybe who is there someone who's famous already? Or he's famous, but like that big. A list.
SPEAKER_00Mary Beth and Benny would be so funny to have a show together.
SPEAKER_02I don't know them.
SPEAKER_00Benny.
SPEAKER_02Bonco.
SPEAKER_00No. Benito Skinner.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_00Overcompensating the duo that has the ride.
SPEAKER_02Benny Drama. I know him as. I know that he's moved on from that. I know he's moved on from that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, comment below, guys, if you have someone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, who would you recommend?
SPEAKER_02I am gonna miss her Kelly Oki covers because she's so good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I truly, Pink is also has an incredible voice. But Kelly's upper register is remarkable. And no one can touch it. No one can touch it. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00Maybe Adele.
SPEAKER_02That's true, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh actually an Adele Kelly duet would be everything.
SPEAKER_02They should just get all the women powerhouse singers to do like a style like we are the world, you know? But only girls, only the girls.
SPEAKER_00There is.
SPEAKER_02What is it?
SPEAKER_00It's got Beyonce, Miley, Rihanna.
SPEAKER_02When did this happen and where was I?
SPEAKER_00Elij, Sierra, Carrie Underwood.
SPEAKER_02When did this happen?
SPEAKER_00This was my favorite song of like 2007.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh, that was so long ago.
SPEAKER_00But it's happened and it's incredible.
SPEAKER_02Okay, can we have a reboot? Just stand up. What was it for? Was it 2000 for sure?
SPEAKER_00Research. Stand up to cancer.
SPEAKER_02Love it. Well, maybe we could just have part two.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Because now we have a lot of new voices also.
SPEAKER_00And still.
SPEAKER_02We have Olivia Dean. We have we have Olivia Rodrigo. All the Olivia's.
SPEAKER_00She wasn't in that original one.
SPEAKER_02I wonder why they leave her out because she was Taylor. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00This Cole Scherziner was in it.
SPEAKER_02Right. 2007, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Which PCD coming back.
SPEAKER_02They are. They are performing at Pride, right?
SPEAKER_00They are performing at Pride. They are going on a world tour.
SPEAKER_02Tour.
SPEAKER_00Don't give a fuck, but good for them. Who's going to come back? They've all said so much shit about Nicole. But Nicole needs this press, so that's why she's doing it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm interested.
SPEAKER_00I've sent you on so many different roads. Bring it back.
SPEAKER_02I don't even know. Who's gonna fill in for Kelly? Or who's gonna take over?
SPEAKER_00Let us know in the comments.
SPEAKER_02Gracious.
AI History Vlogs On Titanic
SPEAKER_00Good question.
SPEAKER_02Okay, speaking, we gotta go back to TikTok because I sent you a TikTok of this girl.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Called, hold on, I gotta look up her name so everyone else can see. Dr. Did you watch the Titanic one I sent you? It's good and nice.
SPEAKER_00Yes, of course.
SPEAKER_02Chloe versus history is her page.
SPEAKER_00Didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00Did I? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02She's basically like she has used AI in a way that she is her person. She's made an AI version of herself.
SPEAKER_00Like on the Titanic talking, like she's vlogging. She's vlogging. Okay, I haven't seen that, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And all these historical things.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Chloe versus history.
SPEAKER_02Yes, that's the page name. But it's like people aren't mad at her for using AI. I post one picture of turning myself into an AI dog, and I got yelled at. But she's making it made a whole page of, and I'm I'm being like hyperbolic, but she her whole page is these videos where she's like, hey guys, not me being in Pompeii. Like she's talking like so gen Z. I've seen the two. Not me being on Pompeii the day that it's the volcano erupts. And I have to tell all these people they need to get out of here. And she like goes up to people and she's like, hey, this volcano is about to erupt. And they're like, what are you talking about? No, it's not. And she but she is telling historical facts, but all the comments are like, this is a great use of AI. And I understand she's like maybe inspiring someone to pick up a history book and read more about Pompeii. Yeah. But why are people not mad at her for using AI? I'm sure there are. If I really scrolled, there are, I'm sure, people that are being like Sure, sure, sure.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, why is it not an immediate like canceled, canceled, canceled.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's great quality. Whatever app, whatever system she's using to create these videos, great.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02But she's been everywhere. She's been to Pompeii. It's like how the people were doing the waking up and yeah, yeah. And she's just now made it her, yeah, herself. And then she's like vlogging and talking so genzy. She like is on the Titanic and she goes up to someone at dinner and she's like, You have to, you guys, you're gonna hit an iceberg and this boat is gonna sink. And they're like, It's this sink is on this ship is unsinkable. What are you talking about? And then she's like up on the deck running, and she's like, Well, I know it's going down, so I'm gonna find I'm gonna find a lifeboat.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02Um, it's very interesting. And I will say, I've been watching them, so I'm perpetuating whatever's happening there, but I can't really stop because I love history.
SPEAKER_00You do love history while you're a slut for history.
Timothee Chalamet Vs Ballet And Opera
SPEAKER_02Sleut. Okay, well, what do you think about Timothy Chalamet hating ballet and opera?
SPEAKER_00I think he's just kidding. I think he is I think he's sorry he said it.
SPEAKER_02I don't think he is he? He's too famous. He's not gonna like this isn't don't hit him. This isn't like a super cancelable offense. If you guys are not aware, Timmy and Matthew McConaughey were doing this like interview thing with each other. It's been a while ago, actually. Yeah. But he made a comment where he said they were talking about the movie theaters, movie theaters kind of dying off, and like the art of going to the movie theater is like people don't really do that much anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Obviously, a lot of that is from COVID because it changed the game, and people were like, Oh, they're gonna just give me this movie in like a month. So I don't need to go pay 40, 50 bucks at the theater and be around a bunch of annoying people when I could just wait a month and watch it in the comfort of my own home.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02So people kind of go less to the movies now than they did previously, prior to COVID.
SPEAKER_01Correct.
SPEAKER_02But he said, I would rather be doing what I'm doing than trying to revive an art form like the opera or the ballet because no one cares about that.
SPEAKER_00Harsh.
SPEAKER_02And people really just stuck on to the nobody cares about that because he his mom and his sister were like did ballet. His mom was like, went was in the New York City ballet or something. I don't know. And it seems that he has like a vendetta against it because the people then resurfaced another time that he said the same thing. Oh, where he brought up no one caring about ballet and it being a dying thing. And so it's like this is his like hill he's dying on. I don't know why. Interesting, because it is something that's like been in his life, yeah. And so it's like it feels like you really have like an issue here with those things, and he's not wrong, I suppose. I was talking to Josh on the way over here, and like I don't have the stats, obviously. And Josh is like the panttages are always full. So it's not like people are not going, and it's in dire danger of like having to shut down major theaters, and Broadway is still doing well, but Broadway is like we've talked about so many times, stunt casting because they need to fill the seats. So there is some form of it's not doing as well as it used to.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_02Obviously, it's not the only form of entertainment like it was in the Victorian era, but what I'm saying is I think it's more this is where I was getting. I feel like it's more a reflection of the economy and people not having extra money to do that. Like if someone, if they love the theater. But they used to have enough money to go every week to see a Broadway show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Now, because of the economy and inflation and all these things, like, and we're pay cuts and we're heading into a recession pay, maybe possibly allegedly. Yeah. Um, maybe that person can only go once a month now. Yeah. And he's just like not wrong about that fact, probably. Yeah. Without seeing a list of statistics. But he just like so uh brazenly is like, no one cares about that. And people are like, oh, you want us to come watch your movie about ping pong? Okay.
SPEAKER_01Great.
SPEAKER_02Like, just like have a little respect for the arts because someone does care. Correct. And a lot of the ballet companies around the world really had something to say about Timothy.
SPEAKER_00Timothy Chalamet.
SPEAKER_02And it is just like a thing when you're too overexposed in the media, he's so exposed right now because everyone's obsessed with him and Kylie. He is in a lot of movies right now. He's like one of the hottest actors, hottest as in like people booking him. Yeah. And when you're that overexposed in media, people are gonna want to bring you down and humble you a little bit. And it's just like that's what is happening, I suppose. But he's a big enough celebrity, like, this is not a cancelable thing to him. He's fine, and I don't think he cares, but because he's said it multiple times, this is the hill he's dying on. He does not care. Okay, and that's sure. Yeah, whatever. But just be like, I don't like it, guys.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Happy for all of you, not a big fan, and just own that, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Uh live your life.
SPEAKER_02Live your life, but don't get mad at us, please, dancers.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what? Us dancers.
SPEAKER_02Well, is it time for A list of the week? Whoa. Mine is Paradise. I finally got into it this new season. Wow. Incredible.
SPEAKER_00Wait, did you watch last season?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we've already talked about this. Sorry. I still haven't seen season two yet.
SPEAKER_02I hadn't, yeah, I hadn't started it because I had other things to finish. And I now have watched all the episodes that are out, and I'm stressed about our current actual world because it just feels like so possible for the same thing to happen.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02And very it's just like, well, immediately I was hooked in again. So that's my A-list, and everyone should watch it.
SPEAKER_00Heard. My A-list of the week is Panera Breads, you pick two. Not ashamed to say I've had Pan I had Panera twice this week.
SPEAKER_02I love that for you.
SPEAKER_00But it was because we had shoots and that was what was being catered, and I said, okay.
SPEAKER_02Turkey Cranberry Club?
SPEAKER_00No. So that yeah, my go-to was either it used to be that and the bacon turkey Bravo. But they had a um grilled chicken avocado BLT.
SPEAKER_02Yum.
SPEAKER_00It's as good as it sounds.
SPEAKER_02Yum.
SPEAKER_00And then of course, I always used to get, you're not gonna believe this. I always used to get the kitchen sink cookie.
SPEAKER_02Yum.
SPEAKER_00They're known for this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So you got a different one. I got a chocolate chip because in going to make my order, I they show you the fucking calories. Do you know how many calories that cookie is?
SPEAKER_02Probably like 600.
SPEAKER_00810.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_00810 calories for the kitchen sink cookie. And it says best enjoyed shared. Never shared that cookie in my life.
SPEAKER_02How much is the chocolate chip?
SPEAKER_00300.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00And still not great, but 500 calories less than the other one. So I went with a chocolate chipper.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Have you ever had their French toast bagel?
SPEAKER_00No. Fire. Sounds incredible. With just some butter?
SPEAKER_02No, you had to put some cream cheese on there. Oh.
SPEAKER_00That's what I mean, obviously.
SPEAKER_02Um, well, everyone, make sure you watch the Oscars this weekend. Here are our birthdays. Janelle, Janelle? No. Janae Iiko is 38. Lauren Graham is 59. You love her.
SPEAKER_00Oh, she's in a new movie coming out.
SPEAKER_02Alexandra DiDario is 40. Victor Garber is 77. You would know him if you saw him.
SPEAKER_00Alexandra DiDario, right?
SPEAKER_02Did I say Ur?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think you did. But yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Victor Garber. Is he in Titanic?
SPEAKER_00Victor Garba. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02What wouldn't be his real name?
SPEAKER_00Oh, right.
SPEAKER_02He is in Titanic.
SPEAKER_00We love Queer.
SPEAKER_02What is his name in Titanic?
SPEAKER_00Mr. Andrews.
SPEAKER_02Mr. Andrews. And Flavor Flav is 67. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_00Still wearing that chain. Hurting his name.
SPEAKER_02He he's never taken it off.
unknownNo, never.
SPEAKER_02Um, but like I said pro prior to this segment, go watch the video.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was like, that was the such a Okay, and be sure to watch the Oscars this weekend and now look at the birthdays.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Yeah, I meant to say that after.
SPEAKER_00We'll debrief next week.
SPEAKER_02We will, and good luck to all those who are nominated.
SPEAKER_00And hopefully they don't bomb the city of Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I sent that to Josh uh today, and I was like, how stressed should I really be about this?
SPEAKER_00They're not.
SPEAKER_02Maybe hopefully we'll be here.
SPEAKER_00And if we're not, the call came from inside the house.
SPEAKER_01Okay, love you bye.
