Spider Drama And Pre-Show Banter
SPEAKER_02Well, you guys missed some excitement. A little spider came down and tried to kill Allison.
SPEAKER_00He was pretty little and I probably could have killed him myself.
SPEAKER_02He was little.
SPEAKER_00But we were just saying he came from the ceiling.
SPEAKER_02Eight.
SPEAKER_00An eight foot ceiling down to the couch. What's the equivalent? You said Empire State level.
SPEAKER_02I said Empire State level.
SPEAKER_00I'm I think it's giving like that's pretty tall. Ten ten the tenth floor?
SPEAKER_02Maybe off of like a s the steeple of a church.
SPEAKER_00Nice. I haven't heard the word steeple in a minute.
SPEAKER_02Here is the church, here's the steeple. Open the door, see all the people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, wasn't that like a dirty thing though? It was like the hand.
SPEAKER_02This this is the church. This is the steeple. No, open it up, see all the people. Right?
SPEAKER_00Something like that, but I thought it had a dirty undertone.
SPEAKER_02This, by the way, my niece and nephew would have anything fascinated by anything.
SPEAKER_00I'm also fascinated by what fingers were those? My middle.
SPEAKER_02My middles. Those my middles, of course. Thank you. Alison? I've worn this shirt. I've had it for a millennium.
SPEAKER_00Okay, first of all, I just complimented you wearing it. Like I didn't ask you how when you got it.
SPEAKER_02But you did it in such a tone that felt like I had never seen that before, or it's her birthday party.
SPEAKER_00I uh was drunk.
SPEAKER_02I was drunk about it. You had a jacket on, right? I had a fur.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And that's where your eye goes. The eye goes to the fur.
SPEAKER_02As it should.
New York Trip Highlights And Gripes
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to the A-list podcast with Allison and Alex. I'm Alison. He's Alex. Alejandro. Alejandro. Okay, tell us about New York. What the heck?
SPEAKER_02Okay. So I went to New York and I'm just gonna summarize. I'm just gonna summarize it. I had a great time.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I really enjoyed it. I definitely want to go back because there's a lot I didn't get to do.
SPEAKER_00Not when it's cold.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, preferably not when it's cold, cold. It's not for me. I am not a New York guy.
SPEAKER_00Okay, why? This pains me.
SPEAKER_02So I will say that when I was in Bogota last year, both Susanna and Karina did say this is what New York is kind of feels like.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02So I was like, okay, and I loved in Bogota. And I can confirm very accurate. Bogota is just like New York.
SPEAKER_00There it's like tall buildings.
SPEAKER_02Tall buildings, the hustle and bustle, cafe, cafe, store, boutique, apartments above, old brownstones. Like that is a lot of Bogota.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Just out in the rainforest. That's what separates it.
SPEAKER_00You know, it's humidity.
SPEAKER_02It's a real jungle, whereas New York is a concrete jungle. So anyway, and humidity, yeah. Um you know, I knew doing a lot of the touristy thing. Like I was like, okay, so we got in we got in around like 4 p.m. into JFK on Thursday. Took us an hour and 30 minutes to get into the city, which is only surprising because leaving on Sunday, it took us 28 minutes to get back to the airport. Nevertheless, we got to our hotel, really cute area, right in Soho, like the heart of Soho. We walked to little Italy, and it was just as Megan suggested. She's like, they're gonna be like, come read our menu, come to my menu. And that's how it was in Paris. Exactly like well, and so Chad was like, this is very European. Like this vibe is like New York is very that.
SPEAKER_00It's like little cafes and although I've never been somewhere where someone other than Paris, like I've in New York, I've never had someone like telling me to come in.
SPEAKER_02It's only literally that I I mean that is what I was told anyway. We had uh not a single thing I ate was bad the whole time. I will say the food, incredible. Yeah, we got shamed at every single restaurant for wanting tap water. This is how it for went at the Italian place. Can I bring you a sparkling water, can I bring you a bottle of water? And we were like, oh, just regular tap.
SPEAKER_00I feel like everyone's like New York water is great.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and that's what so we were like, I was like, we were like, yeah, tap, and she went, okay. Brought us tap, tasted amazing, found out later that night that yeah, like New York water is yeah, good. Every restaurant we went to, sparkling. They just want you to buy it. Like regular tap? Yeah, tap. Okay, like they just want you to buy it or what? I don't know. Weird things that so basically good time, didn't get to see a show, but we got I got went to two different parts of Central Park. Um parts of the Plaza Hotel. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00What did you see on that part?
SPEAKER_02Just like two different parts. You didn't see anything that was like the Shakespeare theater, the outdoor Shakespeare theater. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I saw you went to the Met, went to the Met. But you didn't watch Gossip Girl, so you can't like be excited about like you would be.
SPEAKER_02Correct. But I like watched Oceans 8, so it was fun to re-go, like go wherever you know the Met Gala. Yeah. It was held at the Met.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We went to the Plaza Hotel, and then we ate at a restaurant, like uh we had brunch at a place called Sarabeth's in so good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then we had lunch over there as well at a place called Mermaid Inn.
SPEAKER_00Cute.
SPEAKER_02Not a I'm not kidding, not a single bad thing to eat. Met up with Megan and her girlfriend, had a lovely evening with them, really good restaurant as well called North Fork in the West Village. And then we walked to the friend's outdoor friend, like the out exterior shots of Monica's apartment. And then went to a couple gay bars, but it's just not my vibe.
SPEAKER_00It's like I wouldn't assume that the gay bars would be your vibe.
SPEAKER_02No, no, everything. The restaurants, like it's like every restaurant should have a third of the amount of tables they have. They shove so many tables. Very small. And I was fine with it because in the first, like Little Italy, we were I was literally touching shoulders with the person at the table next to me, but everyone was normal about it. So I was like, okay, this is just the vibe, I'm gonna let it be. And sure enough, that was the vibe. When we went to our last reservation the night before we left, it's such a cute place. The line was insane. We get in, I'm like, hey, reservation for I have put reservation. Reservation for Alex. She's looking at an iPad. She's like maybe 20. She goes, Okay, all I have is that table right there. It was like right by the door, but a high table for two. And I was like, that's fine. Okay. And that's exactly what she okay. Sat us down, but it was right by the bar.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So then there were people like standing at the bar.
SPEAKER_02A whole group of eight people come in and their just backs are right up against our table. But again, everyone was like every other table, that was how it was.
SPEAKER_00I will say that is probably my least favorite part is that like booths are tiny, tables are tiny. I've been to some places. Like Haley and I, when we went just ourselves a couple years ago, like our first night, we ate at a restaurant that actually was spaced out, and we were like, wow, crazy. But when you surrender to it, that's a pretty bad part.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean when you surrender to it, which I did, it was like we had a great time. I was just like observing the drinks, incredible. The overall vibe of people was really good. Like, I think I was expecting more like bluntness, but other than that, one. I think that's just walking.
SPEAKER_00I think like walking, especially in high traffic areas, people are like, get out of my way. I'm walking fast. I have somewhere to go.
SPEAKER_02You're also not waiting for the green light. You just cross.
SPEAKER_00I know. And well, because I'm dating someone who lives in New York for a good chunk of time, never because in LA that's not you get in trouble here. Actually, not anymore. It's not a rule, like jaywalking is not illegal anymore. Crazy, right?
SPEAKER_02It's still not like people aren't doing it though.
SPEAKER_00I get really annoyed at people here because you know what? People here, they don't just like cross at the crosswalk, but like they cross it through the middle of the busiest street ever, and they just stand in the middle and they're like, either you're gonna stop or like I'm gonna wait for it.
SPEAKER_02That's what New York was. Like I just feel like the roads are maybe because a taxi goes by, a group of people go and they wait, the car goes, it's like everyone has a signal. Like cars will do like a light beep, like, hey, I'm coming.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And as soon as they pass, and I'm just like, what I think the difference is because the streets are so small there, it's true, it's great. And so many waterways, and they're one ways. Like you don't have to look both ways. Yeah, people here are crossing sunset, they're crossing winter. Like it's and it's just like get out. There's the crosswalk is right there.
SPEAKER_02That's a good point. Because it is like, I think all one ways. So it is you only do have to look one direction. But but like it was so much to take in. Times square, very underwhelming. It was like, okay, good.
SPEAKER_00Um it's good for a nice pick at night. A picture in Times Square at night with lighting and movement.
SPEAKER_02Well, we weren't there at night, but it was still cute to say that I went.
SPEAKER_00I will say I I won't you don't it doesn't sound like you hate hate.
SPEAKER_02No, I don't hate it at all.
SPEAKER_00Haley used to he'd be like, I hate New York. And I was like, I'm gonna change your mind because every time they went there, it would be for work and there would be not a lot of time, and then it would just be like a bunch of touristy things, which is the worst part. Like there are things like you need to see in your life. Yeah, you need to see the Statue of Liberty, you need to see the 9-11 Memorial, like you need to see these things because it's just like life. But then when we went a few years ago, she took me there for my birthday. We were like, We're we're gonna go here like we live, and we're not going to do anything touristy. We're just going to go like we live there and go to like normal like spots or like underground spots or whatever. Yeah. And by the end of that trip, she was like, Okay, I get it. Because I don't know, it's just magical.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, not for me. It was a place I would love to visit, and it was good to like get a get like context for the space because like I think in my brain, it's like everyone was affected by the towers falling in like directly, but we were I never even saw the 9-11 Memorial. We were never even anywhere close to it.
SPEAKER_00You kind of were, no, never.
SPEAKER_02But were I mean where you you were it staying in Soho, and we never really left the West Village except for like you didn't go south at all?
SPEAKER_00Like you didn't go to Bryant Park, you didn't see the Statue of Liberty from the like no my gosh, we had like literally 30 hours.
SPEAKER_02That was it, so we got a lot in in that time, but then the hotel, super nice, but like I don't know, I just like modern things.
SPEAKER_00And the hotel Was it like a boutique hotel?
SPEAKER_02It was pretty big, it was called Eleven Howard, it was really pretty. It was a building that was built in like you know 600 BC, and therefore, like the the room was tiny, the the only mirror in there was four inches from the bed, so you couldn't actually like get a full body look at yourself. But it wasn't a cheap hotel.
SPEAKER_00The apartments are also I feel like New York apartments from my experience are it's just like a big long hallway.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Within you were at you did you ever go to Megan's? No, this was your first time for the city. Um, yeah, when we visited Megan, hers was like that too. It's just like a big long hallway and then rooms like off of it, and then like a kitchen living room at the end. And I hate that.
SPEAKER_02Like it's just so this was clearly like an apartment building that they turned into a hotel. Like it was that vibe. It was very nice. The bed was comfortable, like we it was good, but the lighting was so bad we had to like use our phones to like light ourselves to be able to get ready.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness gracious. I mean, you I guess we're far, but like not not really.
SPEAKER_02The whole city is tall buildings. There's no way I could have seen it. No, I mean like you walked there and like she pointed out one world, like the the one that's standing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, one world train. I mean, I just meant like you could have walked there so fast.
SPEAKER_02No. I went out with boyfriend, he worked all day Friday, but his he had three press stops, but they were all sporadic. Okay. So I went with him to the no, the the first one he left, had to leave early. I took my own Uber and met him there. So I got to like see a lot in the Uber ride.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then we did breakfast brunch together. That was at the plaza. And then we walked through Central Park, it was really cute. Then you be Eloise guy? Oh, Eloise in the Plaza.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00No, you're thinking of the Christmas movie, right? Isn't he also at the plaza there? Yeah, correct. Home alone. Home alone. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.
SPEAKER_02I got you, yeah. And then I wanted to free the horses, but I also didn't want to get close to them. You know how it goes.
SPEAKER_00I thought I think that they're like closing them down.
SPEAKER_02I think it's like a because one got away from the guy and it went crazy for a second. It's like, didn't this just happen? I saw it on TikTok.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I thought I heard they were like phasing them out. Like not gonna be because like people, it's like such a staple there that if they just abruptly end it, like people are gonna actually lose their minds. So I think they're like phasing it out so that you have time to get there. Yeah, yeah. If it's like if you need to.
SPEAKER_02It was not as expensive as I was expecting. Like, yeah, it felt like going out here, yeah, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00But like if you are coming from expensive, that's why you should have ridden the subject.
SPEAKER_02It was it was pretty much covered by his because but no Uber, no amount of it didn't matter if it was literally like three miles, it was like no less than a hundred bucks.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness gracious.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. But that's crazy. The petty cabs. Because I was like, maybe we'll do a petty cab through the central park five dollars a minute.
SPEAKER_00Um okay, we'll go, we'll just go like a block. Take us two minutes up the road. Yeah. So we didn't see the Central Park zoo or anything.
SPEAKER_02No, no, we didn't get into that side of it. No, truly, I feel like we we got a lot in without exhausting ourselves. And um thankfully we did a later flight on Sunday, so we got to like sleep and actually just leave at checkout.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then we but I got to go to my first bodega, and there was a cat, so that was cute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I do think if there's an opportunity, another like work thing for him maybe in the fall, like you will like it a lot better.
SPEAKER_02Well, I might be going back in July to see Megan in Shrek.
SPEAKER_00Oh, cute. I mean it's just gonna be hot and sweaty.
SPEAKER_02Correct, yeah. Um, she's like, I don't know if you're ready. I was like, I grew up in Indiana, like I understand summer humidity, and she's like, I grew up in Florida and this feels different.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think it's just because you walk so much, probably, yeah. And then you're just like, Yeah, oh, I got dressed and cute and whatever, and like now I'm sweating and I feel gross already.
SPEAKER_02I we got asked if we were twins, brothers related.
SPEAKER_00I did look at a picture of you, and I'm like, Everyone has said this.
SPEAKER_02The one from dinner, same black sweater, same color again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Josh and I were like we were looking at it together. We were like, wow, they really look alike.
SPEAKER_02It's pretty wild. Um same height, but it's just funny to me that people go out of their way to say like we were it was Little Italy, not even on the street for 10 minutes, and a guy we've passed, and he's one of the like he goes, Hey, twins.
SPEAKER_00Your hair was done the same way, too.
SPEAKER_02Someone asked, we're gonna make out in front of them. Love that's brothers like in rent.
SPEAKER_00You should. That's fun.
SPEAKER_02It was a good time though. I definitely am excited to go back and like see it again. And and like our night evening with Megan was short. We were also tired. I was really like it was so nice that they came all that way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, and we had a really good time.
SPEAKER_02I can check it off the list that or check that I've actually been there. And it was generally like in my takeaway is that it was great, it's just not a place I would want to live.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We did talk, like maybe in the future we would do like a stent there for like a year or two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think it's we did find an air. So also, this is interesting. Until the last day, everything I was like, this does not feel like anything. Like, it does not feel like the New York that I have been that people have built up in my mind, or with the movies and like it did not feel like Devil Wars Proud, it did not feel like Friends, it did not feel like Sex in the City. Or any of it.
SPEAKER_00What were you expecting at that point that you didn't see?
SPEAKER_02No, I think it was a feeling. Like to me, it didn't feel like there was magic. No, it wasn't even magical. It's just like the New York energy. Yeah, I didn't, it just felt I think too, it was like, oh wow, I blend in more here. Like there's more tall, yeah, thin white people than there are in LA. But um, then the last day, he was back to the West Village. That's where we had dinner at the place where she was like um and he wanted to, he was like, We gotta go to Carrie's Brownstone from Sex in the City. Yeah, yeah. So we and we didn't realize when we were out with Megan that we were close to that, but we walked the other direction to go to the friends' building, so we're like, we don't go in. So we walked that neighborhood in the West Village. I was like, I could feel like New York.
SPEAKER_00Rich.
SPEAKER_02And this feels like what I have in my head when I picture New York. This now feels like it. Yeah. And it was also at a time of the evening, it was a Saturday night. So like people were out, and the energy was very like, oh, this feels like what I've seen in the movies and TV. But it wasn't till that night.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That that area is rich, rich, rich. And I think at that, I agree. It must just be the West, the West side. Yeah. I mean, no, I guess Upper East Side is also rich. But we stayed in a um, this was like 2013. Uh I went and I was with a friend who When you harassed Ann Hathaway? No, that was when I was like 12. Um, no, we got to stay in this like doctor. There's there's this doctor that also did part-time work in Marin, Indiana, which is so weird. He like one like a week out of the month would go to Marion and be a doctor, but he then he was a doctor in New York. Weird, weird. Yeah, but he let us stay in his apartment while he was gone. Oh, that's nice. And it was like Central Park West, so it was like we walked out of this like brownstone into like to the park, yeah, which was so cool, and that was very much that vibe, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Also, and I will say too, like, I wasn't thrown off by the traffic because it feels very similar to like what I deal with in Hollywood and the 405. The difference is everyone honks, yeah, and that is overwhelming. The police sirens have two octaves. That was that was scary. It's like but then no. So that is just like why everyone honks for some reason.
SPEAKER_00There, the honking stresses me out less than here. Like I get mad here when people honk at me and I'm like road raging. Like, why are you honking at me? Like, I've done nothing wrong. But there, I feel like it is more of a form of communication, like car to car.
SPEAKER_02It felt just like aggravation.
SPEAKER_00Because I feel like I've seen people talk about that in like European countries or like Thais Land or yeah, like it's like a little one honk or two honks means like, you know, I'm I'm behind you or whatever. But I feel so I feel like maybe that I have that in my head.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to pay attention. People are if they don't, if a car doesn't think you're going fast enough, that was what was happening. It was like honking constantly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So but here, I just someone on the way here, someone just honked at me that I didn't like drive fast enough at the green light. And it was not even a full second that I didn't react.
SPEAKER_02Did you gun it with your zero to 60 instant?
SPEAKER_00Threw my hand up in the rear of your mirror. I was like, shut up.
SPEAKER_02Come on.
SPEAKER_00I hate it.
Sweetgreen Mix-Up And Couch Salad
SPEAKER_02But it was a great trip overall. And it was nice that we got back. We got back. I picked up Stan and we had a good night. He was very happy to see me. Oh, cute boy. Yes. Well, I what'd you do over the weekend?
SPEAKER_00Not a lot. I had like one of the worst days of my life, like on Friday, in terms of just everything was going wrong. And then it c all culminated at the end of the night where I went over to Josh's and I got, I picked up or I had ordered sweet green for pickup. Okay. Because there's one not far from where we live. And I yeah.
SPEAKER_02Where is it? Antura?
SPEAKER_00It's on, it's like in the little plaza where the Amazon Fresh was.
SPEAKER_02Do you see those are gone by the way? They're all gone. Yeah, I'm upset. Oh, I loved it. No, they're all gone. It's done. Okay, sorry, continues to do it.
SPEAKER_00It was doing well. Um so doing well for you. It was doing well for me. I pulled up and I walked up and the door was locked. And so I there's people inside though, so I was like, knock knock, like so sorry if I'm late. I like have this order. And they were like, We don't have an order. And I was like, What? And I showed it to her and she was like, Yeah, you ordered it to the Studio City One. She was like, No worries, it's like 10 minutes that way. I was like, I know where it is. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02No worries, we'll make it for you real quick. No, rude.
SPEAKER_00They were cleaning up, they must be open like an extra hour or something at the Studio City One. And so I was like, Okay. And I was so mad because it when I tell you it's so close to where we live.
SPEAKER_02These things happen to you too much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's my fault. Like, I'm not saying that it's not, but like I was just so like, of course, of course, this happened right now. Like I'm having a bad day, everything's going wrong. It's like when you walk past the door frame and your shirt catches on it and whatever. So then I drive 10 minutes down the road, I get my sweet green, whatever, I come back and I'm like, he's working for a few more minutes while I'm getting there. So I like sit on the couch and I start eating my salad, and I don't know what happened, but my hand kind of slipped. I dumped the entire salad in my lap. Listen, no, and I just start crying.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was like, there's no way. And he was very nice. He came over and he started cleaning up. He was like, My hands are clean, blah, blah, blah. I was like, I can't eat couch salad, and I'm crying. And it's just like, and so I just ordered McDonald's McN um uh nuggets and fries.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would do that too.
SPEAKER_00But it was just like I just cried for like probably 20 minutes, just like this is the worst day ever. So anyway, that was your Friday. Yeah, yeah. Uh, but nothing really else major happened. Um, I started playing Pokemon Pokopia on the Nanot. Nintendo.
SPEAKER_02Pocopia?
SPEAKER_00It's basically Animal Crossing, but Pokemon.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00It's like actually like I feel like they made it the same Just with characters. They like bought the IP.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00Because there's a lot of everything is similar, like where you your items are and how you move things and like how you your house that you live in. It's just with Pokemon characters. Okay. So it's cute. I'm having fun with that.
SPEAKER_02Real quick, I will say, similarly, but not when I so we land, I drop boyfriend off at home. I get my car, and it's just like I'm coming home, just picking up Stan and coming home. I get to the sitters to pick up Stan. I was like, oh, I'm hungry. We didn't really eat on the plane. It's now like 8:30. I was like, I'm gonna order my salmon bowl, as you know, and it'll be there when I get home. So I order it, I get home, it's not there. I was like, that's weird. I checked the link. I ordered it for tomorrow, the next day. So I tried to like quickly order one. They're closed.
SPEAKER_00Dang it.
SPEAKER_02So then I had a 10 a.m. salmon bowl the next day. They wouldn't let me cancel it.
SPEAKER_00Did you eat it?
SPEAKER_02I did. I we put it in the fridge and I had it for lunch. But I was like 10 a.m. Great.
SPEAKER_00Yum. I guess such a ball. I guess I forgot Saturday night. We went to this like charity event um for his job.
SPEAKER_02I guess I forgot about this charity event.
SPEAKER_00It was a like casino night. And so we're I'm we're going to Vegas this weekend, last minute, um, for his other job. They were like, it's like a free, like it's I'm just going for free. They were like, hey.
SPEAKER_02Which I did in New York.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they were like, Do you want to bring your girlfriend? And hell yeah. He was like, Yeah. So we were like, Oh, this is a good like warm-up for the casino. Oh, yeah. I learned that I'm so stressed in that situation. Even it was a charity event. He was like, Why are you so stressed? Like, it's not real. This is not real dealers. Like, they do they were doing it correctly. There were people who knew what to do, but he I was so stressed because What was the game? Well, we first went, I was like, I want to play roulette. Like, I like playing roulette. Yeah, easy. Because in Anderson, Indiana, it's like not a real there's no dealer. It's like an automated thing. You just like it tells you everything to do. I walked up and I gave him my voucher for like my hundred dollars of chips or whatever, and he no one told me what the minimum was. I so I just like I just put a couple out, and the girl was like, the girl next to me was like, it's a five minute, five dollar minimum. I was like, okay. So then I like start putting it down, and then Josh was like, Okay, you're kind of contradicting yourself on this.
SPEAKER_02Red and black and red and black. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And so I was like, I'm overwhelmed. And like the dealer guy was like not like he didn't have a personality, I didn't know how to read him, and I was like just overwhelmed. So then we went and he sat down at a blackjack table, and I was like, okay, like let me learn, or whatever. No, I think I'm so embarrassed by like doing like the little tap on the table to like chat hold or whatever. I like that's embarrassing to me.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I agree, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think it's because I'm just not comfortable. And like count, I can't count that fast. Counting cards, that's fast.
SPEAKER_01It is fast.
SPEAKER_00Uh, and so then I was like, okay, maybe let's play poker. Like, I've played online casino poker before. Sure.
SPEAKER_02You're a slots girl, just like me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was like, I'll be at the slots.
SPEAKER_02I'll be at the slots and I will be spending five dollars.
SPEAKER_00I do like I do like roulette.
SPEAKER_02So I you want to go to a roulette table that's automatic.
SPEAKER_00I might try it again if if it's not like super busy, I might be like, okay.
SPEAKER_02Where are you guys staying? What part?
SPEAKER_00Um a little off the strip. Okay, I'll tell you, yeah, I'll tell you later. But oh, so you're gonna be so excited. You guys, if you're listening a few years ago.
SPEAKER_02If you are listening, you are listening.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. No, sorry, if you listened a couple years ago. Oh, got it. We talked about this show.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right, right, right, yes.
SPEAKER_00Called The Empire Strips Back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And that happens to be playing very close.
SPEAKER_02At the hotel that you're at?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I guess this is gonna go out before. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I I like messaged the I was trying to be like such a content creator. Good. And I like filled out their content thing. I was like, hey, I'm a dancer, this show loves it so much. Is there any any opportunity to like work together on a vlog or something for this? Because like I want to come see this show. They have not responded in any way. So I mean, I'm not a travel content creator or like a Vegas content creator, but I just was like, oh, this is a dance show. This like actually like is aligned with me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but I was like, I'm just gonna buy tickets anyway because it's so so I think Friday, yeah, Friday we're gonna go. I haven't bought the tickets yet because I was like, Star War.
SPEAKER_02And you guys have been watching the table. I've been telling him about this. And you've been watching it.
SPEAKER_00Even though it's like really sexy girls dancing burlesquely to Star Wars, it's fine. But um, I haven't bought tickets yet because on the off chance they do come through. Do come through, but if not, like I'm they're actually like so good. I bet it's even more fun in Vegas, they're like cheaper than they were here for sure.
SPEAKER_02Hell yeah. So and it's Vegas, it's just like the energy is gonna be so good there. Yeah, oh my god, fun. I'm excited. That is gonna be great. I can't wait to hear how Josh likes it because he is gonna like it.
SPEAKER_00How can he not?
SPEAKER_02I mean, how can you not? Yeah, hot ladies and burlesque with stars.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so this past week was a lot of crazy press on uh The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Taylor Frankie Paul.
SPEAKER_02We which we touched on last week.
SPEAKER_00We did, and then after that, they all happened. And from a PR perspective, I am interested in how your boyfriend like he gave you any feedback on like what he thinks is going down.
SPEAKER_02He was very uninterested when I was trying to like talk to him about it, and then he was served the content. He was like, Okay, no, wait, hold on. What is this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was like, right, so here's what's going on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um what should is he like, should she shut her mouth and like just like go away for a while, or what does he did?
SPEAKER_02He doesn't have a strong opinion. We are aligned in our feelings about it, but he didn't say like strategically what he would do.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so last week we had talked about The Bachelorette was coming out. I had given you an update on the what had happened in the end of season four, and she had cheated on or she had slept with her ex right before the day night before going to film The Bachelorette.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Then later that week, yeah, last week, it a big article came out that there was a domestic violence um filing that had happened, and ever no one really knew much about it, but we heard that possibly there was um something to do with their kid involved. Yes, but there was no other information. And then the next day there was a video released from a Two years ago? 2023. Yeah. So yeah, I did a domestic violence situation that happened with them. This is in the first season of Secret Lives.
SPEAKER_02They even talk about it, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's body cam fit footage of the officer talking to him. They get in a in a dispute, the police are called, and um the in season one it shows all of that. But then this video was released that Dakota had taken of this fight, and Taylor is drunk, and she is throwing bar stools at him.
SPEAKER_02She's throwing everything.
SPEAKER_00That that's like the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, three bar stools.
SPEAKER_00And collaterally, her daughter gets hit in some way and has like a goose egg on her head.
SPEAKER_02She got hit by the second stool.
SPEAKER_00Did it bounce off of him or did it hit her forever?
SPEAKER_02It bounced off of him, hit the child. I watched the video, but it was kind of hard. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00He says something like you hit Yeah, he like he like turns the phone over then so you it's only audio.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and he says something, uh, it's hard to hear, kind of, but it's like let but then she throws another one.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, and I think that is where it's like Yeah, and like you can hear the kid being being like mom, like mom, mommy or whatever, calling her, and it's like it's very disturbing. It's very hard to watch. So then a few hours after that, ABC announced that they are pulling the season and not airing the bachelorette. So it was like all really fast, like a bunch of stuff happened, and wow.
SPEAKER_02I mean, on one hand, you're like consequences of your actions, but on the other, it is like she did get punished for this. Like she was on a probation.
SPEAKER_00She's been on a probation and this is she's talked about it. Like she it was there's podcast it's not it's very horrible what she did. She's very in the wrong, but it's not been hidden. It's just this video the people knew that it existed, ABC knew that it existed.
SPEAKER_02It feels calculated by him.
SPEAKER_00It does.
SPEAKER_02And I think the reason they had to do this is because it's not like it isn't a direct like Mormon wives' audience were probably gonna watch The Bachelorette. There was already Bachelorette Bachelor fans that don't really know anything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're like, What?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm thinking of like Reagan always watches the season of the Bachelorette, but like doesn't really be like, Who is this person? And for someone like that, for example, to like then get behind a show where this video has come out and knowing nothing about this, but then seeing that being like, I'm sorry, we're supposed to like cheer this woman off. That is why they have to do it.
SPEAKER_00I think it's a good thing that they pulled it. Yeah, because that's why though crazy, like they are losing so much money.
SPEAKER_02Well, I saw somewhere that they're still releasing the sh the season, they're just not gonna be promoting it or putting it on TV. It's gonna be on Hulu. Oh, just on Hulu itself. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_02I mean But now did you see that apparently some of the guys are like getting together to sue the network? Oh, just because we're not getting famous.
SPEAKER_00Like, all right. I did hear maybe that they might throw them on Bachelor in Paradise.
SPEAKER_02Throw them a bone, throw them a bone. Put them on the beach, put them on the beach.
SPEAKER_00So it's a lot, and like I I think that it's a good thing that they pulled it. If they're gonna air it again, like whatever, but like I do think it it's a it's a bare it's a very bad video. Like she looks really bad. I think she needs to have some consequences because she is on a reality show that encourages the drama, like the whole show is about drama. It's not like they're not teaching them any no one's teaching anything. It's not like I don't know, it's it's it's like the early days of Jersey Shore, like they were always fighting, there was always like wild drama that just happened to be on MTV and I guess it was a different time, yeah. But like there does need to be some consequences for her to one, like get away from him. Like he she said on an interview or somewhere, I don't know, that every time she has like something to be excited about and something is releasing, he does something to ruin it.
SPEAKER_02And then you put TikTok out too. Yeah, kind of like right out, yeah. It's just a scummy on all parts, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00So wild it's big for them to pull the crazy week with that because then I just Jesse Jesse just went on Call Her Daddy, and she's one of the cast members also.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00She uh she had drama this past season because she um cheated on her husband. She kissed Marciano, who is a cast member on Vanderpump Villa when the girls went off. I know. She and then the whole season was about her being like, I the reason she was like, I did it and I'm horrible for it, but like I'm this my marriage is emotionally abusive. And she basically was like trying to get out of the marriage, but they were also trying, they were going through therapy to try to figure it out and blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And um, her husband Jordan is the worst. He him and Dakota are best friends, by the way. So it says a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And uh she they had decided mutually that they were going to file for divorce, but she had to go do some work thing in LA, which was go on and call her daddy, but I don't think her, I don't think her husband knew that. So it was like, we're gonna take the weekend and then we'll we're gonna go together on Monday to file. Oh it's gonna be for irreconcilable differences, like that whole thing. And then he found out that she was doing call her daddy, and the day that she was filming, he went and filed himself for divorce, and the cause was like adultery or whatever. And so then she was like, Okay, well, I'm just gonna let you guys know that I covered for him these past couple years. Like, yes, I kissed Mars kissed Marciano, like we didn't do anything else, but he has been. I found out like through our marriage, he was hiring escorts, he was going to sex parties, I have all this proof. Oh my god, it's a wild, like they are wild.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_00Everyone, yeah. So, y'all. That is if you are watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, if you're like people listening, you you guys need to watch. It's compelling.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it sounds compelling, but I'm on Housewives right now, yeah.
Hannah Montana Special And Chappell Roan
SPEAKER_00But the Housewives, I feel like their drama is like Tom's house is broken into, and then what's her name gets arrested for like stealing money from old people? Like that is not as funny. Yeah, I don't know, yeah, but I highly recommend again. Also speaking of Alex Cooper, call her daddy. Yeah, did you watch the Hannah Montana special?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I did you see I saw a headline though that was like Miley Cyrus calls Alex Cooper creepy. I was like, why? You know why?
SPEAKER_00No, I have no idea. She just had her, she was the host. Right. That's why I brought that's why I segue because Alex hosted the special, which I thought to me it wasn't live. I think they filmed it kind of like they did the friends' reunion where it was like it was a couple weeks ago. Yeah, she walked on set and she's like, wow, wow, and then they she sits down with people, but then Alex Hooper came out to interview her. And I think uh Miley said that she learned from Dolly to like start promoting something even if it's not real, and she wanted to do this special, she wanted to do something for the 20th anniversary, so she just started telling people in interviews she was working on something, and then I think um Alex either she reached out to Alex and was like, Do you want to produce this? Because Alex's production company is who made it. Or if her and Miley had had like a they met sometime and Alex was like, I loved Hannah Montana. So they had like a little bit of a connection already. So that's how Alex got involved, I guess. And she's interviewing her, okay, like she does on Call Her Daddy, but it was just like in the context of Hannah Montana. Uh so it was like fine, but I just like I wished that the that part of it was live and it was just it just felt so and then and then she sang a couple songs, but they were pre-recorded.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I just kind of wish, you know how she used to do her backyard sessions and COVID? Yeah. I kind of wished it was like that, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02But this is what she did is like the way it's like how housewives reunions go. It's like it's what the Laguna reunion is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So but those, I don't know, housewives reunions are fine to me like that. But this because it was like concert style and I don't know, just felt like a little detached. I felt detached emotionally. I will say, I'm not- Did you watch Santa Montana? I did ancillarily, is that the word? Nope.
SPEAKER_02Like I did a little consistently here and there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I was a little too old for Disney Channel at that time. Oh, I have that and Wizards of Wayland Waverly Place. I was kind of like a little bit ashamed that I still watched them a little. I watched Wizards more than I watched.
SPEAKER_02Never saw a single episode of that either. I was like Raven, and that was the end.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I would watch it here and there if it was on, but I didn't like I don't know the full arc of it. Sure. So it was fine to me. I did kind of tear up a little bit just because she was emotional and she was seeing, you know, the climb and whatever. But I just um I wish it was like saying the climb? She did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's from the Hannah Montana movie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, cute. I'll watch, I'm gonna watch it. I love that guy.
SPEAKER_00I kind of um because I watched it this morning, I was trying to just catch up, so I kind of like skipped a couple things. Chapel Roan was on, which was random.
SPEAKER_02And like speaking of Chapel Roan. Yeah, I kinda can't stand Yeah, it's getting hard to like like her.
SPEAKER_00I know. Like, I like some of her songs, but I just like I think she's kind of insufferable.
SPEAKER_02And I mean it's I hadn't like there was no proof, right? There's no like footage of what happened, but then someone released like a compilation video of like videos of her like pouring.
SPEAKER_00Can you explain to the audience?
SPEAKER_02Hey audience, she got in some hot water because apparently she like she like sicked her security guard on this little girl who was just like trying to film her or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think they were in was it South America, wherever the Lollapalooza happened, and they were in this hotel, they were having breakfast, and this girl is walked by her or something. She's the daughter of Jude Law and someone else. So she's already, I think it was probably a rich hotel because like sure, whatever. And the girl apparently is like, I think that's Chapel. I'm just gonna walk by and like double check. I'm just gonna like make sure, which like I feel like we've all done 100%. And so she walks by, she comes back, she's like totally her. And then the security guard comes up and like yells at her about it, and it's like she starts crying apparently. And then Chapel, then the the mom or someone releases like shaming Chapel for doing this and like hurting the feelings of her daughter, blah blah blah. And she's like, you know, her dad is a celebrity, like she knows how to like be around celebrities. Like she we went there for to see her at Lollapalooza, like it was her Christmas present to see her. She was just excited, but she didn't ask for a picture, she didn't ask for autograph or anything, she just like wanted to make sure that it was her when she walked by. And then Chapel made a video. She was like, I don't know who that security was. Like, I did not tell my security to go yell at her. And so that's like the drama is like, are you telling the truth? Or was because the mom was like, it was not hotel security.
SPEAKER_02So was this like a security that was like hired by well I'll send you the video because someone was like someone was like, Oh, Chapel doesn't send her security to yell at people. We'll see about that. And then it's clip after clip after clip of Chapel literally like pointing, yeah, and then like I've seen an airport one, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I will say she just was in the um news like last week or a couple weeks ago about someone in Paris Fashion Week and her yelling at a paparazzi. Yeah, but it's not fair because that same paparazzi, there's video of Dua Lipa being harassed by the same person, like whoever that person is follow celebrities all day. They want to they want to photograph that person where wherever they're going the whole day. And there's like yeah, footage of Dua Lipa also like being harassed by that same person, and it's so it does suck for Chapel because now she has this like narrative about her, yeah, a reputation that she is gonna act out, and of course, unapproachable, of course, if they cause her to freak out, that's better for them to get a video that they can sell. Yeah, so like people are going to follow her, right? But this yeah, people are then were like picking apart her video because she's like laying down and she's like yeah, like in the bed, yeah, and it's like you she can't do anything right, and like I understand that because that would be really frustrating for me if I'm in her shoes that like I cannot breathe correctly, like someone's going to tell me that I can't, like I'm just I'm doing that wrong. And so I know that it's frustrating for her, but like she is she does have to make a decision 100%. Am I going to just let this be right what it is and like I'm gonna keep acting this way? Or or do I just have to give like give it over and just try to embrace it and make it a more positive experience? Or like I need I cannot be in public. I'm so sorry. Like I have she's gonna have to start traveling with umbrellas and go in the back, and you can't I'm sorry, you can't eat in the you can't eat in the hotel restaurant until breakfast. Like you just can't do that anymore, and you have to like give make yourself a safe space. I feel like Taylor does that when she needs to. Like when she was going to be able to know how to disappear the Chiefs games, and she's like, you know, walking behind certain things so no one can see her, or she's like being taken in carts. Like I'm sure that is also annoying, but if it's gonna protect your peace, yeah, she disappears, she used to disappear.
SPEAKER_02And she never flawlessly. Anytime she was caught in public, she was never rude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Even when she was like hounded.
SPEAKER_00You just can't disappear.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I just think she has she has to decide whether because she's just gonna make herself more miserable the more she continues to like let every single thing bother her.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Or you or it's just like not for you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you might just like it might just you might not.
SPEAKER_02Be might not be your you might not be meant for this life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, girl.
A-List Picks Survivor And New Music
SPEAKER_00I don't know, which would be sad, but yeah, we'll see. It's time for A-list of the week.
SPEAKER_02Um, that was good and in tune the whole time.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. My A-list of the week is Survivor 50. I can't believe I didn't know that it had started.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00I am I've only watched a couple episodes because they are like long. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Are they?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It took me a while to get to like the first episode. Two weeks ago, maybe.
SPEAKER_02I gotta catch up. I just I'm now up to episode five, four of Paradise, by the way.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, how are you liking it?
SPEAKER_02It's better than season one.
SPEAKER_00It's more complex. I feel like there's a lot of.
SPEAKER_02I'm liking it a lot.
SPEAKER_00Chaylene.
SPEAKER_02She's crushing it actually. Well, well, well.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, Survivor 50. I just love seeing people on the screen that I used to watch.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The newest seasons I haven't cared about because they've I don't know these people. And so now it's like we have Sari back, we have Colby, we have Mike White, we have Oh my god, I forgot Colby was back. Yeah. Did you have a crush on him?
SPEAKER_02Loved Colby, yeah.
SPEAKER_00He is back and um wow. Love it. Hell yeah. So I've yeah, I think I've only seen like three episodes, but I gotta catch up, I gotta catch up.
SPEAKER_02My list of the week is the song that just was released last Friday by the girl group Flow called Leak It. I cannot stop listening to it. I was at the gym this morning and listened to it on repeat. I probably got through it like no, no joke, 20 times.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. I can't do that. Which is what I do.
SPEAKER_02I hyperfixate.
SPEAKER_00I can't do that.
SPEAKER_02And it's like Tate McRae vibes, but they're a British girl group and they're so good. And I loved their freshman album, which came out a year ago. And this is their first single off their sophomore, and they're just crushing it. It's so good. Highly recommend leak it by flow, f L O Flow.
SPEAKER_00What do you think about the Pussycat dolls new song?
SPEAKER_02Haven't heard it, don't care.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I think I like it. I like it. Sounds just like they're old songs.
SPEAKER_02I just think it's funny that they're like headlining the festival and they need to. Yeah, but Nicole Sherginger is like a Oh, they hate her. But we do, right?
SPEAKER_00I think they hate each other. Right. I know.
SPEAKER_02I mean, she's like a Trump supporting like.
SPEAKER_00I actually know nothing about her, so I had no idea. Yeah. But I just think like they were like, hey guys, let's make some money. Lock in. Well, they need a check.
SPEAKER_02Apparently, they there the rumor is they didn't ask the other two to be in it because they are Trump supporters. But I was like, have we forgotten that Nicole like was very outspoken for him?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, unfortunately, if they want to make the money, then Nicole has to be there. And so because they're performing at what, Coachella or Lot Lapuza here or something?
SPEAKER_02No, it's out loud, it's the gay festival in June. Oh, right. Highlighting that.
SPEAKER_00Yes. I like the song, to be honest.
SPEAKER_02I'll have to listen to it.
SPEAKER_00But it does just sound like Pussy Addals.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Sleepy.
SPEAKER_00Which is what you want, I suppose.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, true, true.
SPEAKER_00Okay, birthdays, it's for the girls today. Hell yeah. There's a couple guys, but I was like, I'm nah. I'm just highlighting the girls today.
SPEAKER_02What is today?
SPEAKER_00March 30th?
SPEAKER_02Yes, because the 31st. Or is there 30 days in March?
SPEAKER_0030 days. Half September, April, June, and November. All the rest have 31.
SPEAKER_02Except for February, which has 28 and sometimes 29.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's the 30th. Okay. Celine Dion. That's the way it is.
SPEAKER_02Which, by the way, we hit over a million on that video.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, we did. Congrats. Congrats. 58 is her age.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Anita, the singer.
SPEAKER_02Love.
SPEAKER_00She's 33. Simone Ashley. Now that I'm saying her name, how do I know her?
SPEAKER_01Gymnast.
SPEAKER_00Nope. Oh, she's in the second season of Bridgerton. She's very gorgeous. I know. English actress who appeared in the Netflix Sherry Bridgerton, and she's in the show Sex Education. Did you watch that?
SPEAKER_02Nope.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Tracy Chapman is 62.
SPEAKER_02Happy birthday, girl.
SPEAKER_00Nora Jones is 47. That's it, actually. But Beetlejuice premiered the original in 1988 on this day. The Fairly Odd Parents premiered in 2001.
SPEAKER_02Timmy is an average kid.
SPEAKER_00This is actually a good day for media. Jeopardy premiered on this day in 1964.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00And that's a good trivia question. When did Jeopardy premiere? March 30th, 1964.
SPEAKER_021964.
SPEAKER_00Say it again so it's in your head.
SPEAKER_02March 30th, 1964. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00The movie Beauty Shop premiered in 2005.
SPEAKER_02I love that movie so much.
SPEAKER_00And Spy Kids came out in 2001.
SPEAKER_02Got him and Elizabeth Juanita Echo Sky Bravo Cortez.
SPEAKER_00You had something for all these people. Everything on this list, except for Simone and I don't know Bridgerton. You can just do it in a British accent.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I just did a bow.
SPEAKER_00All right, well.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, guys, thanks for listening. Tune in next week to find out what kind of shenanigans Allison got into in Vegas.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Love ya.
SPEAKER_02Love you, bye.
