After ending a 26-year career in the telecommunications industry, Donna found herself at a crossroads when trying to pursue a new direction.
Although it was not her initial career choice, she was heavily recruited by several insurance companies and eventually began a career as a life insurance agent and Registered Representative. During a chance meeting with her Allstate agent, she was offered an opportunity to work with several Chattanooga Allstate agents as a life and financial specialist. However, the pull of working in corporate America remained strong and after two years of working with agents in Chattanooga, she joined Allstate’s Nashville regional office as a Field Sales Leader for the western Kentucky and central Arkansas markets.
During the COVID pandemic she learned that her insurance agent was considering retirement. Always ready for a new challenge, Donna saw this as an opportunity to blend her entrepreneurial dreams, managerial skillset, the experience she gained as an FSL and her desire to serve her community. She purchased the agency in September 2020. Since then, Johnson Grisham Agency has seen tremendous growth – achieving both Honor Ring awards and Elite status.
As a small business owner, she loves the camaraderie and support that is received from community partners. However, she is most grateful that she can utilize her resources to work with organizations that provide empowerment to women, children, and underserved communities.
She is currently a cohort of Leadership Chattanooga Class of 2024 and was a cohort of the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute’s Game ChangeHer Class of 2023-2024 where she provided mentorship to 8th grade students of Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. She is a current member of the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga’s Presidents Club and has been honored as a 2023 Chattanooga Woman of Distinction. She and her family also host an annual fundraiser benefitting a scholarship fund managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.
