Dr. Niznick Unleashed: The Maverick Behind the Implant Revolution
In This Episode of the HowDent Podcast, Dr. Andrew Goldsmith talks with one of the pioneers of implant dentistry who continues to innovate after 50+ years, Dr. Gerald Niznick. You will be the first to hear about a new tri-implant system and the launch of an intuitive implant company called Paragon https://paragon-implant.com/
Dr. Gerald A. Niznick was the founder and President of Core-Vent and Paragon Dental Implant Companies (1982 -2001) and developed the Screw-Vent, Advent
and SwissPlus implants now sold by Zimmer Dental. In 2004, he founded Implant Direct and created what is now known as the “value segment” of the dental implant industry, introducing a number of application specific 1 and 2-piece implants with all-in-1 packaging. He served as President of Implant Direct through 2013 at which time he retired. Dr. Niznick graduated from the University of Manitoba Dental School in 1966, (renamed the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of
Dentistry in 2018), earned a Masters degree in Prosthodontics at Indiana University in 1968 and received Honorary Doctorate degrees from University of Manitoba and Tel Aviv University. He has 33 US dental implant patents. The internal conical connection, (Niznick Patent #4,960,381), introduced with the Screw-Vent Implant in 1986 has become the cornerstone of modern implant design.
Generation 5 Niznick Implants incorporate 40+ years of the modern dental implant era starting with Core-Vent 1982 and Branemark 1983. The dental community is going through heightened public awareness of the benefits of dental implant supported restorations thanks to marketing by Corporate Dental organizations and social media. With the rapid expansion in the number of dentists placing
implants at varying levels of education and skill, both biological and mechanical
complications are on the rise. Paragon’s GEN5 implants, surgical protocol and prosthetic applications were designed to simplify procedures and optimize both short and long-term success. Paragon’s Go-to-market strategy, in an industry already crowded with over 250 implant companies, is to limit the product line, utilize lights-out manufacturing and online ordering to reduce the cost to the point where a high quality, made-in-America, implant system can be offered to every dentist at the price levels offered by the major implant companies to DSOs and ClearChoice.
