What if the thing standing between you and your next client isn't your skills, your training, or even your offer? What if it's just that the right person doesn't know you exist yet? I want you to sit with that for just a second. Because I think it's both the most uncomfortable truth in business and the most freeing. Welcome to the Clarity to Clients podcast. If you're a coach, consultant, or course creator living in tech overload, scattered in your messaging, or unsure what to do next, you are in the right place. Hi, I'm Jessica Downing, your business clarity coach, and I am here to help you cut through the noise, simplify your systems, and confidently connect with the clients you're meant to serve. Each week, I'll bring you quick tips, real talk, and deep dives that give you the clarity and confidence to move your business forward. So grab your coffee, open your notebook, and let's start building a business that feels simple, sustainable, and aligned with you. So when it comes down to it, you can be the most gifted, the most qualified, most genuinely transformative coach on the planet. And if the right people can't find you, none of that matters. That's not a knock on you. That's just how this works. Today I want to talk about visibility, not the kind that burns you out, not the kind that makes you feel like you have to perform on camera and TikToks and dance on screen. And definitely not the kind where you're posting five times a day across six different platforms and wondering why it's not working. I want to talk about visibility that actually signs clients. Here's what I've seen over and over again in my clients and honestly in myself. Getting visible feels hard because it requires something deeply uncomfortable, being seen. And being seen means being judged. And dare I say, showing up a little cringe in the beginning while you're getting the hang of things. It means putting something into the world and not knowing how it'll land. It means showing up before you feel ready. And here's what I want you to hear. That discomfort you feel about putting yourself out there, that's not a sign that something's wrong with you. It's not a sign that you're not meant for this. It's a sign that what you're doing actually matters deeply to you. The coaches who struggle most with visibility aren't the ones who don't care enough. They're the ones who care so much they're terrified of getting it wrong. So if that's you, I see you. And I want to offer you a different way of thinking about this. We live in a world that tells you you need to be on Instagram, oh, and TikTok, and LinkedIn, and you need a podcast, and you need a YouTube channel, and you need to be networking and running ads and building your email list all at the same time. It's exhausting to say it out loud. So one of two things happens. You freeze and do nothing, or you try everything, bounce from platform to platform, and end up spread so thin that nothing is actually working for you. Then you look around at the silence and think, I must be doing something wrong. You're not doing something wrong. You're doing too many things at once. The fix is way simpler than you think. Choose one lane, show up there consistently, and give it time. But before we even talk about lanes, before we talk about platforms or content or outreach, there's something more foundational, and that's clarity. Because here's the hard truth. I have told this to so many coaches, including myself at one point. If you can't say what you do in one sentence, that's not a marketing problem. That's a clarity problem. You need to know three things deeply, specifically with zero wiggle room. Number one, you need to know who you help. Not the people who want to grow, not women who want more out of life. You have to be specific, vivid, and real. Next, you need to know the problem that you solve, the real problem, the painful problem, the one that keeps them up at 2 a.m. And third, you need to know the result that you help them create. Not what you teach. You need to know what changes for them. What does their life look like after working with you? When you put all three of those together, something almost magical happens. The right people hear it and they feel seen. They stop scrolling, they lean in because suddenly you're not just another coach, you're the coach for them. Okay, now that we got clarity out of the way, because you know I love my clarity, let's talk about lanes. Your visibility strategy at its core comes down to one question: where do your people already spend time? And then how do you like to show up? Because a strategy you hate is a strategy you will not stick with. And inconsistency will kill your momentum faster than any algorithm ever could. There are essentially three ways you can build an audience, and it comes down to the three B's build, borrow, or buy. So the first one we're all familiar with. We consume it every day, and it's content, social media, video, podcasts, emails, all of that. If you choose the build route, it can feel like a long game. Sometimes you're posting and you're not getting any traction, but it does compound over time. And the feedback you get from what you post, that's actually gonna help you refine as you go. You own it, you get to decide how you show up, and you can be as authentic and honest as you want to be. You get to connect with the audience that you want to attract. Here's one of the more underutilized forms of connecting with an audience. You can borrow one. This is where you're gonna get in front of audiences that already exist. So you can be a guest on a podcast or a YouTube channel, you can teach inside someone else's community, you can co-host a workshop. This is one of the fastest paths to warm leads for new coaches because you're not starting from zero. You're borrowing someone else's trust. And if neither of those sound appealing to you, you can always buy one. But here's the catch. I would not start here because paid ads, they're expensive. And I don't recommend this until you've already tested what works, because throwing money at an unvalidated funnel is just a more expensive way to spin your wheels. Most new coaches don't need ads. They need clarity first, then consistency. So pick one lane, show up there for 30 days, give it a good, honest effort. That's it. So here's something that may not be on your radar. You actually need two things working together, not just one. You need discovery, how people are gonna find you, your reach, your first impressions, getting in front of strangers, and then you need something to build that relationship further. How those strangers become people who trust you enough to actually pay you through depth, connection, and proof. One without the other just doesn't work. You can have a huge reach with no trust. People will find you, they scroll past, and they forget you. Or you can have a deep trust with no reach, your existing network loves you, but you keep talking to the same 10 people. The magic happens at the intersection of these two things. Now I know we've all heard how important list building is and building your email list, but why is it so important? It's because it's the number one place that they make their decision to buy your service. Period. Like that's the place where sales happen. Not your sales page, not your Instagram. The number one place is in their inbox. That's why having a well-constructed funnel with a good email sequence is so valuable for your business and should not be overlooked. And it's because social media and outreach, that's the introduction. Email is where the ongoing conversation happens. Think about it this way: when someone opens your email, there's no algorithm deciding whether to show it to them or not. There's no competing post to scroll past. It's just you and them and whatever you have to say. Even 100 engaged email subscribers can generate consistent revenue. So own that list, protect it, grow it, show up consistently, try to do at least one email a week to stay connected with them. I want to come back to something I said at the beginning of this podcast because I don't want to just give you tactics without acknowledging the thing underneath all of this. A lot of coaches aren't invisible because they don't know what to do. They're invisible because they're afraid of showing up, afraid of being judged, afraid of being too much, of putting content out there that doesn't land, afraid of pitching and hearing no, afraid that if they really go for it and it doesn't work, what does that mean about them? But here's what I want you to know nobody feels ready the first time or the fifth time, honestly. But somewhere along the way, showing up becomes more natural than not showing up. You do not need to feel ready. You do not need perfect content, you don't need a huge audience, you just need to show up consistently, clearly, and in a way that feels like you. Give the right people an opportunity to actually find you. Visibility isn't about performing, it's about being easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to say yes to. So if you're listening and this is something that's resonating with you, but you're thinking, okay, how does this actually apply to me? Or maybe you're thinking, I know I need to do this, but every time I try, I freeze up. I want to talk to you. I'm offering a free 30-minute strategy call, and these aren't sales pitches dressed up as free calls. This is a genuine call just to sit down with you, have a look at what you're doing right now, and help you figure out one or two moves that could actually make a difference for your visibility in the next 30 days. We'll talk about what's holding you back, not just the tactical stuff, but the real stuff. And we'll find an approach that feels right for you, not an approach you copied from someone else's business that looks nothing like yours because you deserve a strategy that you can actually stick with, one that doesn't require you to become a different person. If that sounds like what you need, the link to grab your spot is in the show notes. And I genuinely love to chat with you. I'll leave you with this. You don't have to go viral. You don't need to be everywhere. You just need to be somewhere consistently with a clear message and a clear path for how people can take the next step with you. So choose your lane, show up, repeat. The momentum builds faster than you think. Once you stop spreading yourself so thin and you start going deep. You've got this, and I'll see you on the next one. Before you go, I've got a free resource you do not want to miss.
