Welcome to the Heart Place Hospital podcast, where we explore the intersections of mind, body, and soul in healthcare. Today, we introduce a remarkable guest who brings over 35 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a diverse and transformative journey in the field of mental well-being.

Our guest's career spans decades, with a one-year hiatus, during which she navigated life as a single mother and now proudly celebrates her 33-year-old emerging human. Having reinvented herself from a demanding full-time role in Auckland, she now enjoys a life of serenity in the beautiful Bay of Plenty.

Ten years ago, she hit a pivotal moment in psychiatry, recognizing the shortcomings in how mental health was being addressed. This led her to leave her lifelong position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychological Medicine and embark on a journey to redefine mental health care. She trained as a life coach, advocating for a model that emphasises empowerment, self-knowledge, and self-nurturing.

A lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity, she constantly seeks to understand the deeper "why" behind everything, even if it means venturing down countless rabbit holes. Her passion lies in advocating for a preventive, holistic approach to mental health that considers the whole person and their life journey.

Join us as we dive into topics such as the medical model of psychiatry, the profound impact of nutrition on mental health, and the powerful role nurses play in reshaping medicine. Let's rethink mental well-being together with our extraordinary guest.
