In this episode, I explain the concept of “umbrella leadership” and how leaders can either strengthen the mission of an organization or quietly subvert it. Healthy leadership creates unity around standards, accountability, and purpose. Unhealthy leadership protects people from those standards and builds loyalty around personalities instead of mission.
I also talk about how this problem shows up not only in business, but in families, churches, and culture itself. At the root of all of it is the temptation to replace rightful authority with our own preferences and standards.
