The Ministering Angel Podcast

God Is God!

Ronald Myers jr

The episode discusses the human tendency to reshape God to fit personal preferences, comparing this to the constant, unchanging nature of God as described in Scripture. It emphasizes the importance of worshiping God as He truly is, not as a construct of our desires, and challenges listeners to evaluate whether they are following the God of Scripture or a more comfortable version of Him. By surrendering to the real God, listeners can achieve genuine faith built on the solid rock of truth.

We live in a time where personal truth is praised, and comfort is king. In a world that often reshapes truth to fit emotions and preferences, many have started reshaping God too. We take the Almighty and try to mold Him into something manageable—into an image we can control, explain, or manipulate. But here's the truth: God is God. Not who we try to make Him out to be.

The Temptation to Redefine God

From the very beginning, mankind has wrestled with the idea of surrendering fully to a sovereign God. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were not tempted by the fruit alone but by the idea that they could “be like God” (Genesis 3:5). That same desire echoes in our hearts today—we want to define right and wrong for ourselves. We want a God who agrees with our opinions, affirms our decisions, and demands little in return. But that’s not the God of the Bible.

The real God is not made in our image—we are made in His.

We often want a God who blesses our plans, not one who interrupts them. A God who comforts us but never convicts us. A God who shows mercy but doesn’t call for repentance. A God who is love, but not holy. But that’s not the full picture of who He is.

The True Nature of God

God is both merciful and just. He is full of grace, yet He is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). He is the Lamb and the Lion. He weeps with us, but He also overturns tables in the temple. We cannot slice off the parts of His character that make us uncomfortable just to suit our preferences.

When we try to make God into a “safe” version of Himself—one who never says “no,” never asks for obedience, never requires surrender—we are not worshiping God. We are worshiping a false image of Him. It may feel like faith, but it’s a faith built on illusion, not truth. And anything built on illusion eventually crumbles.

God's Unchanging Character

God is not adjustable. He is not customizable. He is not changeable.

He says in Malachi 3:6, “I am the Lord, I change not.” In a world that constantly shifts, where morals are debated and truth is relative, God remains constant. His character doesn’t shift with culture. His standards don’t bend with public opinion. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

So who is God, really?

Understanding God's Holiness and Sovereignty

He is holy beyond our comprehension. So holy that even angels cry “Holy, holy, holy” before Him day and night.

He is sovereign. He does not need permission to move, nor does He owe us explanations for His plans.

He is loving, yes—but that love is not soft or passive. It is fierce, sacrificial, and active. A love that disciplines. A love that sent His Son to die for people who would reject Him.

He is wise. He sees what we cannot see, knows what we do not know, and understands what we never could. His ways are higher, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).

The Power and Righteousness of God

He is powerful. He speaks and worlds come into existence. He breathes and life begins. He commands storms, parts seas, and raises the dead.

He is righteous. He doesn’t tolerate sin. He judges evil. He does what is right—even when it’s not what we would have chosen.

Intimacy with the True God

And yes, He is personal. He walks with us, listens to us, and speaks to us. But we must never confuse intimacy with informality. He is close, but He is still God.

We don’t get to define Him. We get to discover Him.

God reveals Himself through His Word, not through our preferences. He calls us to know Him, not recreate Him.

The Call to True Worship

When we come to Scripture with humble hearts, willing to be challenged, corrected, and changed, we begin to see Him for who He really is—not just who we wish He was.

It’s uncomfortable at first. It shatters pride. It confronts sin. It pulls us out of lukewarm faith. But it also awakens us to the beauty of true worship. It replaces a shallow image of God with the breathtaking reality of His glory. It strengthens our trust—because if God is who He says He is, not who we imagine, then He is trustworthy even when life doesn’t make sense.

And when we surrender to the real God, not the one we've created in our minds, we find freedom.

Because now, our faith isn’t built on shifting sand. It’s built on the solid rock of truth.

We don’t have to keep making excuses for Him or explaining away His Word to fit modern ideals.

We don’t have to keep searching for approval in culture—we already have His acceptance.

We don’t have to chase blessings—we can follow the Blesser.

Conclusion: Embracing the One True God

We don’t have to create a “god” who loves us on our terms—we can fall in love with the God who loved us first, on His.

Let this be a heart check for all of us: Are we following the God of Scripture or a version we’ve made more comfortable? Are we open to all of who He is—or just the parts we like? Do we worship Him as Lord—or simply look to Him as a life coach?

God is not who we try to make Him out to be. He is greater, deeper, and more glorious than we could ever imagine.

And that’s good news.

Because the God we can’t control is the only one big enough to save us, sustain us, and lead us into the life we were created for.

So today, lay down the idol of a god made in your image. And lift your eyes to the One true God—holy, sovereign, loving, and worthy of it all.
