 The Keys to Becoming Unshakable

There was a time when everything shook me—people’s opinions, sudden changes, closed doors, and even unanswered prayers. But I’ve learned that stability doesn’t come from circumstances going my way; it comes from being rooted in something—Someone—greater. If I want to be unshakable, I can’t rely on feelings, popularity, or my own strength. I must be anchored in truth.

Building a Foundation on the Word

1. I had to establish a foundation on the Word.

I stopped leaning on motivational phrases and started clinging to Scripture. Jesus said, “Whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24). The storms came, but the house stood. That became me. I stopped being impressed with how I felt and started holding on to what I knew—God’s Word is immovable.

Trusting God's Character

2. I learned to trust God's character, not just His blessings.

When everything seemed to fall apart, I remembered who He is: faithful, sovereign, loving, and just. Even when I couldn’t trace His hand, I trusted His heart. That’s what steadied me—knowing that God doesn’t change, even when life does. “I the Lord do not change…” (Malachi 3:6). That truth kept me steady.

Choosing Obedience Over Comfort

3. I chose obedience over comfort.

Obedience doesn’t always feel good, but it always builds spiritual muscle. The more I followed God through discomfort, the more resilient I became. Peace doesn’t always come from understanding the why—it comes from knowing I’m in alignment with Him.

Surrounding Yourself with Truth-Bearers

4. I surrounded myself with truth-bearers.

I stopped trying to be strong around people who were spiritually weak. I found community that reminded me of who I am and Whose I am. People who speak life, not fear. Accountability helps keep me anchored when my emotions want to drift.

Cultivating Stillness

5. I cultivated stillness.

Being unshakable isn’t about constant movement. It’s about stillness—knowing how to be quiet before God. In those moments, He restores my soul, renews my mind, and realigns my spirit. Stillness helped me separate what was noise from what was truth.

Seeing Trials as Training

6. I committed to seeing trials as training.

The shaking isn’t always punishment. Sometimes it’s preparation. Every test refined me, every disappointment taught me detachment from temporary things. And in every battle, I discovered the strength of the One who fights for me.

Conclusion: Standing Firm in Faith

So now, when the winds blow, I don’t panic—I plant my feet deeper. When the ground quakes, I lift my eyes higher. I’m not unshakable because of who I am. I’m unshakable because of where I stand.

“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.” – Psalm 125:1
